Used 2019 Toyota Camry LE 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl 8A) Consumer Reviews
After 12000 miles on new LE
We replaced our Corolla with the 2019 LE. Overall the car is ok. but I want to point out a few initial finding. sry to be all negative. 1. CarPlay, OMG, Toyota need to give up on their entune and give us the option to default to CarPlay, royal pain, ill logical and worst of all frequent disconnect. 2. Very low visibility front and back. You feel caged with small view. 3. Road noise, not a very quiet car, 70+ mph wind noise is pronounce. Low speed you can hear the road and engine (I hope better tire would help the road noise). Sound meter show 65db to 69db. 4. Lane assist doesn't read lane well at all, and precollision sensor is terrible. In fact I think it's a safety hazard. you don't know when it kick in. I'm pretty sure it doesn't work in low speed. Don't trust it. 5. Engine idle ruff, car shaking. I'll try to post a youtube video. 6. Keyfab is too big, uncomfortable in pocket. wife hates it too. 7. The touch screen display very slow to respond. force you to look at the screen longer. A safety hazard. Updated April 8th 2020 CarPlay, software update has improved the experience a bit but still need more work. Noise still an issue, power train noise in low speed. and loud noise in highspeed. hoping a better tire will help in the future. But real issue is sound proofing from the floor. What really bothers me is the safety feature. It is NOT safe at all. The lane assist is completely useless (wife's Optima do a much bette job, almost drive itself). No idea when pre-collision warning will engage. One last thing that irritates me is it requires 2 hand to operate the sound. Optima is more logical and one hand operation. All the button around the screen is a waste, doesn't support CarPlay.

Disapointed
Did not live up to reviews. Poor ride on rough pavement, excessive noise and terrible handling on curves. Ok in city driving.

Very good car overall; not quite good as previous
Time will tell, but this generation Camry (beginning in 2018) appears to be a little more delicate than the previous one (ending in 2017). It's not quite as solid; there are more minuscule electronic/ tech parts and features to break. Still, it's a very good car but probably designed now for a projected life of 225,000 miles, rather than the previous 350,000 miles. You get a sense of that with the new transmission maintenance. The "marketing in the stratosphere" approach has produced, it seems, a car more to appeal to a (fickle) hypothetical millennial consumer and to vocational car critics than to the mainstream buyer looking for quality and practicality and not for pretense. The outstanding strength of this car is great gas mileage. Not only does the LE really get something like the official 28city/39highway estimate, but it is likely to get you 600 miles on a long highway trip on one tank of gas. That's an important metric, driving a 10 hour day on the highway and not having to stop at a gas station. Sorry, but I find the various "safety" features mostly unhelpful. At worst, they are actually a safety distraction, and disturb an otherwise peaceful driving experience. And trigger aggressive driving around you. For example, the "dynamic" cruise control takes the time efficiency of traveling at 70mph and reduces it down to about 64mph, which defeats that purpose of cruise control. It's scary when you first use it- the car engine suddenly feels like it has stalled, as your car free-falls from 70mph to 60mph in the fast lane. The driver behind you is now incensed at you, who suddenly slowed down to 60mph in the fast lane and are maintaining what appears to be a football field length clear lane of travel in front of you. It encourages the driver behind you to zoom around you and aggressively insert himself in the ridiculous amount of space you are pacing with. Remember, this is the fast lane. The "lane departure alert" constantly beeps with different tense melodies, seemingly every time you change lanes or make the slightest evasive maneuver. It is distracting. Everyone in your car wants to know what is going on.... every few minutes. Thankfully, you can deactivate this feature, once you iterate through the annoying adjustments to change the volume of the warning beeps. One other major area Toyota missed is needed improvement for driver seat comfort- the material is still too thin and harsh for longer rides. I noticed my leg undersides getting sore in 1-2 hours. Two Camry generations ago, ending in 2011, front seats were very comfortable. This current version is however, modestly improved over the last one. So, for short rides, e.g. less than 1-2 hours, it is okay. Handling, braking and smoothness of ride is superb on this car! The storage pockets and cubbins on this car are ample and versatile and improved over the previous version. However, the sliding lid under the console is not simple to use, umbrellas don't quite fit in the door holder compartments and the glove compartment is offset at angle that makes it difficult to approach. The console center storage is large and versatile- not organized, but at least you have room to put things there. The Entune system is too complicated, has redundant and unnecessary iterations and seems amateurish. Because it is that way, it tempts one to distracted driving. Bluetooth linkage with one's iphone works well and the sound quality through the stereo speakers is very clear. After burying the clock in the last generation Camry, it now seems the clock shows up in three places at the same time mostly too-small print. Just give me back the simple dash-mounted clock. The bottom line is that this car has regressed slightly, from 4.5 to 4 stars, but is still a very good car. Simplicity and practicality of "safety" features and Entune, and driver's seat comfort need to be the focus on the next re-do.

Great sedan
I leased my Camry LE about two weeks ago. I already put about 600 miles of mixed driving on my car. My car shifts smoothly, and the V4 engine provides adequate power and excellent fuel economy. The ride is smooth and comfortable. In city driving, the car is easy to handle. The small turning radius makes it easy to park and maneuver. On the highway, I get over 40 mpg at 75 mph. The adaptive cruise control really works well to maintain a safe following distance in busy traffic. The seats were comfortable during a 3.5 hour drive. I also like all of the basic safety systems on my car. The auto dimming brights respond quickly and the sensors pick up just about anything (including the lights on house at a T intersection). The lane departure system works good. I have not yet tested the pedestrian detection system (thankfully). The backup camera works well and has a crisp image. I am very happy with my car so far!

Just Fair
I bought the 2019 Camry LE new in November 2018. During the warranty period, the only repair the car needed was an engine software update for very slow acceleration (no recall notice). The transmission needed to be replaced at 102,000 miles (cost $8,500), even though it had 2 fluid changes. The car is comfortable, roomy, handles well, and gets great miles per gallon. On highway trips, I frequently get 35.5 miles per gallon -- I believe this is very good for a non-hybrid, gasoline powered, midsize sedan with a listed curb weight of 3,300 pounds. Now for the cons, the car had slower acceleration than expected from the beginning until the transmission was replaced with a factory remanufactured one. The engine and transmission noise is pronounced, as is the road noise. Safety alerts are frequent and largely unnecessary. The transmission only lasted 102,000 miles.Taking the pros and cons into consideration, I believe this sedan to be a fair front wheel drive sedan, for the 2019 model year.
