2002 Camry LE Manual at 355k miles
Car was purchased at 206k miles It is 5Speed manual All 2002-2006 Camry w manual trans were built in Japan Automatic usually Kentucky built Japan built Toyota generally thought to be higher quality It now has 355000 miles runs good Some of these 2.4 2az-fe engines had a serious flaw The head bolts reached into the aluminum block only 24mm, and especially the 3 bolts at center rear side of block would strip threads right out of block, coolant leak and overheating. Mine never got this failure 2007 up had 30mm deep bolt protrusion which solved problem. I have replaced spark plugs and 2coils, front struts not much else. This car has always used oil since I owned it so it’s been important to check often. I did replace PCV valve too. I’ve tried several oils conventional and synthetic it drinks all brands at same speed. No smoking at tailpipe Been my daily driver 8 yrs no breakdowns 35mpg
Energizer bunny this.
So I bought my camry with 72K from a toyota dealer, after some miner noise issues from under dash (turns out it was a warranty issue Yay!) I have driven this car a lot, to the tune of 185K with exception of oil changes ( always synthetic) tires, breaks and a battery, haven't had to do much of anything. Love , Love the ride I've been in much more expensive cars and newer cars but this Camry model they did it right. Its got plenty of power to go up mountains and passing speed yeah its there too. did have to change exhause ( cats from toyota are pricey , but worth it because aftermarket crapola will just burn up and cause other issues. with that said I tried saving some cash by using some cheap replacement parts ( not toyota oem) as a result I caused some significant issues with my engine and it had to go in for repair. As of now I'm getting it back with new pistons, rings, rod bearings, a rebuilt head, new exhaust manifold/converter. yeah I will be driving my camry for many years to go. (know someone who got rid of there 98 Camry (with the 6cyl) after 350K and the buyer did $100 repair and is driving around. Yeah energizer bunny aint got nothing on toyota camrys .

Best car of the 7 we've owned
We purchased this new, and after 7 years, I have had only one repair, other than routine maintenance. The breaks needed to be replaced after 85,000. The car is extremely quiet, which I really like. It now has 93000 miles, and I expect to have it another 7 years!
Unhappy
I bought this car with 11000 miles on it and now has 81000 miles. It's now starting to give us trouble. The catalytic converter went out at 81000. The transmission failed at 81200. What next? Not the best car I've ever owned.
Good midsize with lots of annoyances
Runs good most of the time (hard to start in the winter). Powerful and smooth engine. Gets around 30 mpg. Smooth, quiet ride with roomy and comfortable interior. Now the bad... Interior is very cheap; it's just about falling apart. Engine does not want to start in cold weather. Car is too low. It bottoms out on everything! Hard to get parts for. Toyota charges an arm and a leg for the parts they do have. No ABS with brakes that tend to lock up all the time. Transmission likes to downshift when slowing down on a downhill. If it does that in the rain or snow your tires will lose traction! I've had too many close calls with lost traction in this car.
