Low cost, low maintenance
I always keep my cars 100k and longer. This is the first Toyota I've bought and the first time to own a car that is low cost to maintain. Very little goes wrong. With the energy crunch, I've lowered my speed to 60-65 and my mileage has gone from 30mpg on the hwy to 35mpg hwy. It has always maintained 24-25mpg in town. My only complaints are: the headlights; I've changed the relay a few times but their light intensity is still weak; 2. Seating comfort: I'm tall and thin and I feel like I'm sitting on a park bench. Compared to an American car, the comfort level is inferior. Maybe the newer models are better with this. The low maint. and repair cost outweigh this issue.
Camry is a BEAST!!!
No lie....I have 242,665 miles on my car and I am not embarrassed to drive it. I bought it with 112k miles on it from a private owner. It has been maintained well (oil changes, routine maintenance, etc.) but I have rarely put any other money into the vehicle. It drives down the highway almost like a new car. I would highly recommend purchasing this year Camry, as long as it has been taken care of. I will always be Toyota loyal after my experience (previous American-car only driver). What American car would ever even come close this mileage and reliability? Exactly! If I can get 500K, maybe I can get that new 2010 Prius I have been desperately wanting. :)
Outstanding Quality, Comfort and Value
Our 1999 Camry V6 is the best car value we have ever owned, hands down. Fully loaded, it compares closer to the Lexus than, say, the Taurus. The ride is so smooth and the interior layout is so smart. You will not find better comfort, quality and value in a car than the Camry. Our Camry was made in Kentucky. We are very pleased! It is no secret that Consumer Reports has been enthusistically endorsing the Camry for many years. Just go look at CR's quality ratings based on thousands of cars surveyed.
Overall a great car
I bought this car back in '06 when I was still in high school, with about 89,000 miles on it. 5 years later and it has 185,000 with no signs of stopping. There have been a couple repairs I have had to do including a costly sensor replacement at the dealership which ran about $1,300. That was back in '09. Then earlier this year, the car wouldn't start and I needed to buy a new air compressor at about $300...All in all a reliable vehicle that has not needed any other major services. The V6 has plenty of power for everyday driving (which here in SW Florida can be both fast-paced and aggravating) and I don't see any reason why this car won't make it to 200k and beyond.
My Pal
When I purchased this car in 2002 it had 35,000 mile --I added a rear spoiler and wow! What a dream of a car!! It has style, comfort, great ride and super options. I clean and maintain it regularly--it gets rave compliments by service mechanics and strangers on the street. One mechanic said that it will last forever! I trust the vehicle to take me anywhere and I always admire its handsome style. It makes me a very proud owner as I constantly "check it out" when passing store windows!! My motto,"take good care of your car and your car will take good care of you!!"
