Used 1999 Toyota Camry Sedan Consumer Reviews
Very reliable car
I bought the car in 1999. It was new. Since then I just once changed brakes and two times the battery, of course tires. That's it! I love my car. I'll give it to my daughter when she gets her driver license in October and feel she's in a good "hands".
Excellent Car
Gave to our son 2 years ago for College use. Gave another 1999 Camry XLE car to our daughter. Both have very low maintenance, 28 Hwy mpg, 24 city 4-cyl. Very reliable. Only issue with both cars is the low exhaust pipe clearance over the bumps. Suspension system had to be changed in about 2006.
Camry
Quiet, comfortable, reliable, good on long trips for driver and passengers. Interior items such as sun shade mirrors, tape player have been problematic. Power roof extremely reliable concerning leaks, operation, etc. Gas mileage in town not good but acceptable. The best large car I have ever owned.
Toyota Lover for Life!
I bought this road marvel as a replacement for a 2005 Kia Spectra EX, that had a host of problems on it. I have loved this car ever since I bought it. It gives me great gas mileage & the engine runs so smooth and quiet that you cannot even hear it when stopped for traffic. It had a smooth-drive suspension system before they got all worn out. Today, there is a problem with my tyres that gives me less than 30 mpg overall. I used to get an average of 33 mpg (combined mileage) but these days even 25 mpg is a miracle! I was advised that there is something wrong with my tyres, alignment, balancing or something like that and once I get it fixed, it's gonna b okay!
Good purchase
I bought this car new and have had few problems. Replaced CD player under warranty due to skipping. Clunking sound in rear has been present since new and I've still not found the source but it's tolerable. Very well built, smooth ride GREAT mileage w/ 29+ MPG incl. many central Pa. mountain miles. Nearly 150,000 miles now without a mechanical issue. Just replaced the timing belt and rear struts, the first maintenance other than normal brakes and oil changes. I've been using amsoil synthetic and changing on 20,000 mile intervals since new with no problems. Now starting to puff a faint blue smoke immediately upon startup when cold. I'll run it until it dies and hopefully buy another toyota.
