As fast as my Porsche Carrera 4S
I am a performance car nut. But Motorweek is a more objective evaluator.Their test, Nov 9, 2020 resulted in the following... 0-60mph in 4.2sec (but mine is just the dual motor, rated by Testa at 4.8sec) This result is probably with their acceleration boost option for $2000. Quarter mile in 12.5 sec @ 114mph. Braking 0-60 in 95ft. For those of you not familiar with average car performance, this is probably top 10% of gas cars. Motorweek also rated the handling as outstanding... enhanced by the batteries providing a super low center of gravity. So, 2002 Porsche 911 performance for half the price. Other areas. Tons of automation and safety features. Even without the full auto pilot, the base automation maintains cruise following distance and driving within the lanes. Comfortable, uncannily quiet...326mi rated range...and to extend battery life only charging routinely to 289mi. I bought extra roof solar capacity (6000W) for my home, so during the 6000 miles and 10 months ownership, there has been no cost to power it. I use a 240V/50A adapter plug with the provided cable and get 30mph charging rate. The fit and finish is fine. The driver's layout was a dramatic change with all information on the screen. Huge cargo capacity... perhaps a bit more than my BMW X5. Simply a dream to drive. And in old drag racer's terms, an incredible SLEEPER. Those wanting to play get left in the dust (no exhaust...hehe).I am not a tree hugger. I appreciate performance and value. My decision to buy was after reading a long acticle from a fleet car rental dealer running all Teslas. He tested his cars at 150,000 miles and found all batteries had over 90% capacity remaining... No tuneups, no oil changes. And he had several cars approaching 450,000 miles with only tire and brake changes. He had routinely replaced his gas cars at 100,000 miles. Since I am a hard driver, I have found the battery range is about 15% optimistic in my case. And I still need to get the driver's side mirror adjusted to allow full normal range of motion. This is wifey's car, so i have not bought the acceleration boost option. This is the only car I have had that has banged my head against the headrest numerous times....and it can be rough on grocery bags in back...hehe.

Not for me….
I purchased a MY performance model in August 2021… gone on Dec 20th…. I loved the performance- no pun intended- but there were just too many gotchas. I like to drive. And go places in my car. The Tesla hamstrung me too much. Go somewhere - get back - charge - and wait - then go… I might add I did not have a home charger due to older electric (100amp service) and that was a factor as well. I’d forget, or just couldn’t go after wor. Then I’d be charging at 20 o’clock in the evening. Also: rough ride on the 21 inch wheels…. “Tinny” feel, like it was cheaply made… the reliance on the dang screen for everything… needs a rethinking on some design choices to make it more user friendly…. My opinion, is that it would have been a good ‘second’ car…. Your mileage may vary (pun in…) But I am not against them… just have a way to go for me.

That’s what it is… As a CAR it has not been designed correctly. The body it not rigid enough, the ride is harsh and noisy. Misaligned panels and gaps. Stupid glass roof is a heater in summer. Rear seats rattling with no possibility for repairs, been to service 7 (!!!) times, no solution… Service attitude is horrible, they just don’t give a damn. Tech is good 95% of the time, but not working 5% for no reason. Range and charging are good.

Amazing
I have had my Model Y for just over a month. I was somewhat skeptical but I am a convert. Range is excellent. Comfort is outstanding. Quality is equal to other mid level premium cars. Acceleration is mind boggling. Love the seats, visibility, comfort, utility. Don’t love the front end but the rest looks great. Best car I’ve ever had. Expensive.

It has been a Simple NITEMARE
We got our TESLA on a Friday last month and the very next day, we used the VENT feature, and our Driver window BUSTED!!! 3rd day our car was at the SERVICE CENTER. Parts were of course not readily available. Few days the car was returned (UBERed to pick up) and the next day the window function completely went out on the driver's window. Guess what, CAR was back at the service center... Within two months, the TIRE LIGHT came on and of course, there is no easy fix! the car has to be towed to the service center OR they take your tire and give you a loaner tire which looks nothing like the other tires on the vehicle (can take anywhere from 3-4 weeks). I inspected the vehicle and didn't see any nails so I ASSUMED it was a simple topping off of air but nothing is simple with TESLA... They had my car towed and I WAS Slapped with a near 400$ bill for a replacement tire because THEY CLAIM there was a nail in the tire. They did not want to hear anything! they claimed they have pictures and I KNOW there was no nail... They basically ignored all my pleas and I am responsible for a $400 (almost) bill for a tire within 2 months. NOT TO MENTION the nearest service center is almost 40 minutes away so the inconvenience was painful! I would not recommend this vehicle at all! From the second day, I longed to enjoy my TESLA but wasn't given the opportunity! I am ready to sell it off! Stay away unless you have the time and the patience to deal with their poor customer service... OH did i mention even the customer service can't directly talk to the service advisors, if you call them, they will REQUEST call backs so you are at the mercy of them responding to you... CHAT features are also available at the service advisors will, if they want to than only you can chat with them! GOOD LUCK to whoever will invest in this horrible technology! <I do appreciate the lack of gas station visits, but I will definitley take that over the horrrors of dealing with TESLA>
