Beautiful SUV, Great to Drive
After ordering our new Model Y we discovered several reviews that gave us pause. Several talked about the body panels not aligning and poor paint quality. We were nervous and considered we may have made a big mistake. Our Y was delivered to our home by the dealer touchless. We did a complete inspection of the vehicle and found no body alignment issues and the paint was applied perfectly and looks phenomenal. We ordered the multi coat red which adds a little to the purchase price but it was well worth it. This vehicle has amazing speed. More pick up and go than expected. Much better that our I.C.E. (Acura RDX) which i thought was pretty peppy. It handles beautifully. The lack of gauges, speedometer, etc. is a little disconcerting at first but after a short while, we didn't find the touch screen to be a problem or challenge. The regenerative braking was an easy transition after driving for a short while. It is similar to a golf cart or riding lawn mower. There are different settings available to allow you to set the braking to your comfort. We chose "hold". With this setting, as you reduce pressure on the accelerator the car will begin to slow down, If you remove your foot completely the car will come to a complete stop over a reasonable distance.. You still need to monitor and gauge when and if you need to fully apply the brake. We especially like the fact that regenerative breaking actually takes the energy from the car's momentum and feeds it back to the battery. Plus less need to replace brake pads, etc. The touch screen is a bit daunting at first but with the Tesla online tutorials, other owner's YouTube videos and the readily available manual we are mastering it with ease. We have added a matte protection screen to eliminate unwanted sun glare and fingerprints. The center console comes in piano black and is a fingerprint magnet. We had it wrapped in carbon fiber to eliminate this problem. This was done after market. It has surprising amount of cargo space. In fact more than our Acura RDX. Plus plentiful leg and head room. The windshield offers a wide view. Only draw back is the back window is smallish which doesn't give you much area to use your rear view mirror. But with great side mirrors and sensors to advise if another vehicle or object is too close, we haven't found it to be a problem. Bottom line - great car, lots of fun to drive, we have no regrets and highly recommend the Tesla Y if you're in the market for an all electric vehicle.

Tesla Model Y: Like Driving Windows 95
There is so much potential in the Tesla Model Y. It is, in many ways, a game-changer for transportation. Yet, this car is SO BUGGY that its promise is really compromised. Here are the issues I've noticed in less than 8 months of ownership: 1. Misleading Delivery Promises & Poor Experience: When I leased my car, the Tesla employee at their retail location promised me that the car would be delivered to my home. When the car came in, he said this offer had been changed. I needed to take a $55 Uber ride to collect the car. I stood around waiting to be helped for 45 minutes. When I mentioned the Uber and the wait to Tesla employees they simply shrugged. 2. Service Notification: A day after driving the car off the lot, I received a safety notification that could not be turned off and did not provide any further information about the nature of the problem. It required a service appointment, which I couldn't get for three weeks. At that appointment, the technicians diagnosed the issue as a unseated sensor. The fix required setting a separate appointment three weeks later. 3. Broken driver seat controls: Attempting to share my car with my girlfriend and daughter required them to adjust the seat. Unfortunately the controls stopped working and adjustments weren't possible. Another service appointment weeks into the future. 4. Frequent Bluetooth problems: Unlocking the car via the Tesla iPhone app is a cool idea, but the execution of this is really poor and doesn't work as expected. 5. Windshield Wipers: In the rainy northwest, we depend on windshield wipers to stay safe. The auto mode, unfortunately, is software-driven and not sensor-driven. That means the wipers can run far too hard and fast, or not nearly enough. Both situations require attention that distract me as the driver in conditions that are already challenging. 6. Lack of customer support: Raising these issues with Tesla staff is greeted with a shrug. There is no one to talk to about the problems or the patterns. I find myself exploring my state's lemon laws and posting reviews to warn people off of this promising but deeply flawed vehicle.

It's a Tesla, not a Cadillac
It's amazing to read so many reviews from "unhappy" owners complaining about the ride, build & materials of the Model Y. Is $50k an expensive car? Sure. Is $50k really luxury category? Eh, maybe just on the low side of your standard ICE vehicle. Teslas are first and foremost pieces of technology with wheels. They are the beginning of the future, and being that beginning means that something like the Y *might* be a bit overpriced... MIGHT. We've had our Y for a bit, now, and have loved every moment with it. We waited several months before ordering to avoid many of the KNOWN Tesla delivery issues at the beginning of every new model. Ours arrived with no issues other than a tiny paint imperfection that Tesla found and I may have never noticed. They will pay to have it fixed. The ride is firm, but you only really notice that on roads with pot holes or serious bumps, and what you feel is really nothing out of the ordinary. The Y is not a pillow-like ride that you get from a Cadillac, and that's just fine. You want that then pay more for the S or X and the air suspension. The benefit, as we see it, to feeling the road is that on most streets you FEEL the road. You feel the Y stick to it as you go 0-60 in < 5 seconds. You feel the road as you turn. You feel connected, like a performance machine makes you feel. The interior is nice and well thought out. The only think I wish it had is a sunglasses compartment, but where you'd normally put that is where the AMAZING glass roof starts. You quickly think, "Yeah, I can do without the holder." Controlling EVERYTHING through the touchscreen took some getting used to, but after a week it's all good. The seats are extremely comfortable, as well. One of the most amazing parts about the Y is the backseat. It is VERY roomy. I'm 6'2", my wife 5'10", and our teenaged boys are both in that 6' range. All 4 of us can sit in any of the seats with more than enough room and comfort. Friends have commented about how much room there is vs what you expect looking from the outside. Now, this isn't a 7 person hauler. It's built for 5 at the most. If you have 3 kids and will be consistently riding at that max, I'd consider something else, personally. To sum it up, if you are in the market for something like a Honda CR-V or Toyota RAV4 and are looking to the future or wanting to reduce your carbon footprint the Model Y is an excellent choice.

Bought and Sold Model Y in 7 weeks!
The quality of fit and finish along with indifference from the Tesla Store was the worst I have experienced in 55 years of owning cars. My NEW Tesla Y arrived with the following issues/needs: the "Frunk" had dents and dimples and had to be replaced, the center console between the two front seats was mis-aligned and needed replaced, the right side doors had the sill replaced and then doors were out of alignment creating a large gap which in turn allowed for air to infiltrate along with road noise, the USB-C chargers did not work in the rear, the rear view mirror console was replaced due to rattles, other smaller issues were also noted. The Tesla Store simply shrugged and said they will take care of this. Upon picking up the vehicle, I was told that they door and hood alignments was the best they could and were the best they could do and were within mfg. tolerances. The repairs were not acceptable but I had no recourse. So, my solution was to trade the car in ASAP, before any other issues or recalls occurred. I lost thousands but I am happier now that this car is gone!
Automotive service: 🦨🦨🦨
Tesla auto service is the worst. It takes weeks to get an appointment for simple problems (for example tire repair), they don’t offer afternoon appointments and it’s literally impossible to speak with a human being. Also, the all-glass roof makes the vehicle unspeakably hot during the summer. The electronics should be 99.99% reliable in an EV. They are not. I have had this car for 9 months and I already know I won’t ever get another Tesla. You shouldn’t either.
