Used 2004 Saturn VUE Fwd 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl 5A) Consumer Reviews
2004 VUE Tow Car
I pruchased the 2004 VUE as a Tow car for my Motorhome. It is easy to handle and light enough to tow 4 on the floor. As a around the town vehicle, it is fun to drive. I would suggest it to all my friends to buy, especially to those who travel by motorhome.
The V-6 is the one to get
I've only had this vehicle about 4 weeks, but it is already one of my favorite vehicles ever. It is fun to drive, has a kick to it and is roomy. I am 6'5" and I have the legroom i've been longing for in a Saturn vehicle. I have read very few problems with the V- 6 Honda engine in the 2004 - stay away from the Vti (4 cylinder automatic models)

2004 Saturn Vue
After looking at the Chevy TrailBlazer, Equinox we tested the Saturn Vue. We found the controls to be easily accesable and liked the "new" styling of the interior. Many different textures, although plastic. We found the Vue to be fun to drive with excellent handling, not tiring. The electronic steering system was a little "touchy" getting use to but once we adjusted to it it's great.
THE SATURN
THE CAR IS VERY COMFORTABLE AND HANDLES GOOD BUT WENT ON A LONG TRIP HAD A FLAT TIRE AND COULDNT FIND THE TIRE ANYWHERE I HAD TO LOOK FOR A SATURN DEALER AND YOU CAN IMAGINE HOW THAT FEELS. THE WHEN I LOWER THE BACK WINDOS TO GET SOME FRESH AIR THE NOISE WAS UNBEREABLE.TOO MUCH NOISE INSIDE THE CAR.
my vue of the vue
I purchased this for towing a camper and so far it has performed excel. it acts as if there is no top end ,for a 3.0 I'm pulling 2400 lbs. & it has not complained once.on the flats or thru the green mtns.it gets a smoother ride loaded down
Love my VUE
I have never before driven a Saturn and decided to check out the Vue as I was in the market for a SUV. I immediately fell in love with this car. The dealership treats you like royalty and a member of the Family.
Saturn VUE, a best buy
I did the math to figure cost of ownership and the Saturn did very well. The plactic side pannels are great. No more of the ugly or costly minor dents. At 67,000 miles I have replaced wiper blades and tires. I expect to buy the same brand SUV next year.
A nice SUV with
The incentives and rebates were just too juicy to pass up..Thank You GM! I had been hearing about the "cheap interior"...maybe for the '02 and '03 models. I think the '04 design (especially with leather) has a nice, simple but elegant feel to it. The retro chrome speedometer trim is very nice. The interior color scheme (black & tan) is nice to look at too. We signed the papers on the V6 after driving the inline4 (the fuel economy is the same!). Over all, an awesome value for your American buck!!
Saturn Vue Redline Model
I purchased the saturn vue redline. I love the exterior of the vehicle and the drive. It handles well on the highway. Though the noise level was a problem at times. Hopefully the designers will work on these things for the next model. Overall I do love my saturn.
The VUE is a GREAT VEHICLE
I wasn't even thinking of buying a VUE. I was looking at the minivans and stopped in the Saturn dealership. Since they didn't make a minivan (in OCT of '03) I took a station wagon home for my wife to see. She didn't like it but asked if they had an SUV? I went back to to dealer and tried a VUE. I was sold in a minute! What a confortable ride and unbelievable power in the V^ motor. When my wife first drove it she saie "Wow! You have to be careful with it because it has so much power" I have no doubt buying it was the right decision, even after now driving it more than 8,000 miles.
best value in its class
After comparing 7 suv's in the same class the vue gives the most value for the mony. The honda engine is quiet and has more power than necessary (not that its a bad thing.) I love driving it.
Surprisingly Fun
Our first SUV, the VUE V-6 has more pep and agility than our previous larger car. The exterior fit 'n finish continues to make it look show-room new without much upkeep. Didn't use the rear fold-up parcel-carrying feature at first but now find it very useful in carrying grocieries without them spilling around when driving. Wish the front and rear seats were a little more comfortable. After two years and 20,000 miles vehicle stills looks like new and has never needed any dealer repair or adjustments..
The Saturn Experience
My Vue has been very dependable, comfortable and fun to drive. The service department at the dealership is wonderful. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. The Saturn experience in general has been great and I do recommend Saturn to others.
2004 VUE Redline
Just bought it a couple months ago and really liked the styling before I drove it. When I took it out for the first drive I was surprise at the "heaviness" of the vehicle. It was a lot more substantial than I thought it would be and I was pleasantly surprised. Even my buddies, who are pretty harsh critics (the know-it-all type when it comes to cars), really like my ride. Gas mileage is a great surprise for an SUV - I get about 23/gln just in everyday driving (my buddies Xterra only gets about 15).
SATURN VUE-2004
GREAT RIDE-PLENTY OF MOTOR POWER WHEN NEEDED-GOOD GAS MILEAGE-COMFORTABLE TO DRIVE.-USER FRIENDLY ACCESSORIES.
excellent
The vehicle is fun to drive and very comfortable.
Love my Vue
I love the comfort of my Vue. The seats are a good height for easy entry into and exit from vehicle. Don't have to step up or slide down into it. I really like the white gauges and the easy alignment of them. It rides more like a car than a truck. It has great pick up power that makes getting onto the highway so much easier. I think overall it handles good and offers a comfortable ride.
2004 saturn vue
I am a new owner and so far I am impressed with the performance. The dealership lacks organization and customer comforts. Service is over worked and delays are regular. Better interior design would be appreciated. A better audio system would also be appreciated.
I like Mine!
I like my 2003 Saturn Vue. I like the large doors and sunroof. It rides smoothly and handles very well. I have a V-6 which my husband suggested and I am glad I did. It is powerful enough to get on the freeway and get moving quickly.
2004 Saturn Vue
The Saturn Vue is an absolute blast to drive!!! The V6 is fast and nimble. 250 horsepower pushing this light weight vehicle will allow you to humiliate any Jeep, Tahoe or Explorer in your path. The exterior design is beautiful. The Vue's distinctive design is both modern and unique. The interior is a disappointment compared to the rest of the SUV. Although I like the design of the interior, the materials used make it look cheap and "plasticy". Also the "fit and finish" of the passenger areas needs much improvement. You'd think Saturn could have spent a couple of bucks on better quality plastic. The switches, gauges, A.C. and stereo all work well and are easy to access.
A fun SUV to drive
I bought this SUV to tow behind my 36ft Motorhome. It was between the Vue and the Honda CRV. I wanted a car that I didn't need to modify the transmission to tow it It was a pleasent experience to deal with Saturn. There no hassel was a breath of fresh air. As I bought the Vue the end of July I had to take it from dealers stock. The one I wanted my dealer didn't have so they looked throughout the 6 sate reagon they found me mine in Maine. They went out of there way to make sure I was completly satified. This is the way all car buying should be and the rest of the car dealers could take a lesson from Saturn.
Love it!
Love the VUE. Very happy with the performance and looks. There were a lot of features that came standard with the FWD V6. It's very comfortable driving and has great pickup. *Cargo organizer seems to be making squeaking noise when driving. Has anyone experienced the same or other noises within vehicle?
My retirement vehicle
I'm an old fart moving south for retirement. Didn't like any of the colors offered so settled on white. It actually looks better than I thought and it is easy to keep clean. Was looking at mini vans but decided on the Vue because it had a higher horsepower engine, 5 speed auto, (both by Honda) side curtain air bags, was a bit more compact, and has good towing capacity for my soon to be purchased Aliner camper. Gas mileage was also important and the Vue does come close to the sticker estimate. The Vue could be quieter at highway speeds but considering my previous vehichle was a Lexus LS400 it's no wonder I feel that way.
A seat with a Vue
I really have enjoyed by Vue. I have had many people stop me and ask about my experience with my Vue. They also comment on its sporty look. I must agree.
2004 Vue - Transmission Problem???
We purchased a 6 cyl FWD'04 Vue from Saturn of Sunrise. If the Vue performs like the sales reps, then we hit a grandslam,we LOVE the Vue with one exception...the 5-sp auto trans hesitates when it is about to change gears,it seems as if it is not sure what gear it wants to be in.We've brought it back to service. They have test driven it/hooked it up to the computer. They say everything seems normal. However,it is starting to bother us.After driving the Vue for another week we called the dealer and asked if they would drive our Vue for a few days to'feel'the problem.Saturn has been eager to assist.Has anyone else had this type of problem?
What is with all the noise!
Our Saturn VUE is a good but not a great car. Mileage on highway runs 34 mpg. Engine performance is excellent. Draw backs: Interior is cheap for the money. This is one of the noisiest cars I have ever driven. Have had it at the dealership 2 times, and still has problems. Sounds as though a train is coming in the drivers door. My 2002 F250 diesel Ford is much quieter than this car. And the resale value is horrible. Purchase a car for $24,000 and drive one year and get offered $12,800 for a trade on a new 2005 Vue. This tells me what Saturn thinks of there vehicle. Would not have purchased this car if I knew what it would be worth after a year of driving.
Great!!!
This is my 3rd Saturn, My first an 1995 SL1, my 2nd a 2002 SC1 and now my 2004 Vue. I couldn't be happier. I love Saturn vehicles, well rounded reliable. Next car definatly a Saturn.
I love my vue
The vue is a powerful suv and a fun vehicle to drive. It is also a comfortable ride and we enjoy it very much. The fuel economy (21-22) is not quite up to my expectations yet but thecar only has 2300 miles and I hope it will improve as it gets a few more miles. Any way we love our vue
Vue
Excellent SUV. Lots of power. Nice fit & finish.
A great Vue
The V-6 engine has enough power to get you into highway traffic with no problem. The 5 speed automatic is smooth shifting and allows the engine to just loaf along at highway speeds, but downshifts readily when needed. I am tall and long legged.I find the car roomy and easy to get in and out of without banging my knees. I purchased the green vue and have received many comments . It is GREEN !!!!
V6 FWD VUE
Overall I am extremly pleased with the Saturn Vue. Like other's have noted the first impression I had is the power of this vehicle with the V6. It literally has get up and go power when you hit the gas at any speed!I have read number of major suv/truck magazine reviews labeling the interior as being "cheap". But I personally would characterize the interior as a "minimalist" interior...in that I have just about all the creature comforts you could get on this vehicle and for me, everything is very well laid out and functional, no frills no fuss! It handles well, and is a very comfortable vehicle to ride in.
Proud to own a Vue
My Vue has become an extended family vehicle. My son and daughter and in- laws as well love to drive it. I have allowed al of them to use the Vue for vacations and trips up north. It is peppy as needed, smooth on the road, easy to handle, well balanced and as comfortable inside as any other SUV I have taken for a test drive. Funny thing. since I got mine there are now four others in the neighborhood.
Very good fit for us
This is the perfect vehicle for my wife, having come from a mini-van but with the family downsized to just 2. The performance capabilities are great, the mileage is good, not outstanding but good, and the utilitarianship is excellent. It hauls and hauls, if you get my drift. No major unfixable problems yet and we just logged over 11K miles.
Would buy it again.
I traded in an Expedition for this car. it handles beautifully and really moves when I need to merge onto a highway.
Great car for a great price!
This is the second Satrun I've owned. I upgraded to the VUE V6 from a 2001 L200 Wagon. I was thrilled with my last car and due to the GREAT financing incentives I got the VUE. It has a great ride, LOTS of power, is easy to get in and out of, has a good sound system and is fun to drive!
My Saturn Vue
I love my Saturn Vue. My Vue is my 3rd Saturn to own. My 1st Saturn was a 4 door purchased in 1992. After driving it for about 140,000 miles, I traded for a 2 door coupe which I drove until I purchased my Vue in July. If the Vue hadn't sold itself to me after test driving, my past experience with the Saturn personnel would have. Service with Saturn is outstanding. What few problems I did encounter were handled promptly and with courtesy. Reliability has never been in question with any of my previous Saturns and I don't expect it to be any different with my Vue. I highly recommend the Vue. Americans make a great vehicle.
More than you'd expect!
I was up in the air whether to choose the equinox or the VUE. Of course, after my test drive and the friendly dealers, I chose the VUE. Excellent response on acceleration and smooth ride with the V6. Am really very impressed with overall quality and handling of this smaller SUV. I don't hear the noises or feel the sluggishness that others have found. Excellent buy as far as I'm concerned in the SUV class.
FunDrive
I have had the V6 FWD for about 38,000 miles and it continues to awe me with pick-up and highway comfort. The 17 inch wheels and tires create some low speed rumbles but they more than compensate on road trips. The finish in and out still looks new and the impression when clean is an impressive appearance. The recent shift I made from driving 30,000 miles a year to 10,000 showed poorer mileage in stop and go. The 6 likes to be run long trips to reach the 24-28 mpg I get on 60+ mile 75+ MPH trips. Overall I have been extremely pleased with the VUE.
Really good car!
My daughter, who lives in Austin,Texas, bought a new VUE and we were introduced to it in this way when she came to see us in Dallas. Test drove a new one after she left and was really impressed with the car. Looked at several other cars/SUV's and went back to the Saturn and wrote him a check for the VUE that we wanted and have just been very pleased with it. Period!
Fun Fun Fun
The Vue is fun to dive. Power off the line and when you need it. Its been great on gas and I love how it looks. No scheduled maintance for 100,000 miles..what could be better. Just cahge the oil & filter every 3500, air filter evrey 10,000, and your ready to go.
New Vue
Had a 280ZX Turbo and this corners and handles sometimes better. Just returned from snow in mountain and it handled just as good or better than other all wheel drives on the same road. Very impressed.
Bang for your Buck
The Vue is by far the best value in the midsize SUV category!
Excellent Vehicle
All areas on this vehicle are excellent including the price. It has great potentiality for being a RV dingy also which I am a RVer.A
1/2 a Honda
Aggresive exterior styling and an excellent powertrain made this the best choice in the segment. Huge dealer incentive made it impossible to say no.
GMAC
Vehicle provides great deal of comfort, safety, and power. Handles well. Very smooth on the highway. One car owner and is in excellent condition. Air cond. CD player and FM/AM stereo with double tuning capacity. Cell phone hook-ups in the front and rear. Can attach a double or triple DVD player for the children. Does use regular unleaded with 22 miles per gallon on the highway. Has a Honda V6 size engine with a lot of power. A good family car. Tinted windows with a sun/moon roof. Good storage space in the cargo area. Provides grocery racks to secure your groceries while driving. Spare tire is located under cargo area so does not stick out the rear door. I love this SUV.
It is about time
I have always been a domestic car buyer. Why? I could have spent less in repairs if I bought a Camry or Accord 5-10 years ago. Then I hear Saturn is using Honda 3.5L motors and trannys. It is about time. Obviously U.S. autos lack the refinement and reliability (GM still puts a pushrod V6 in everything.) Remember Pontiac? Cavalier, Sunfire? Why is it so loud and creaky in American cars after a few years? As an unsatisfied owner of a 96 Impala SS (the pinnacle of American rear wheel drive cars) with 85K miles on it and $6K in non-maintenance repair bills, I vowed to never buy American again. Now I am an owner of a Saturn. My mom has had a few SL1's w/ 120
Surprised!!!!!
Luv the car. Bought it to tow behind RV. Tows really nice. No hassle. The 3.5 engine really has PEP! Not a real Saturn fan until I drove Vue. 25-26 mpg. Not bad with fuel prices rising. Considering Ion for next Commuter Beater.
Problems Allready 04 VUE
Inside of 30 days of ownership in for OBD code P0571 3 times (Cruise/brake switch A malfunction) replaced switch service wrench light came back on in less than 4 blocks from service dept. Campaign to upgrade software to correct the computer from clearing OBD codes when vehicle ignition turned off strike 4. 3 conclusions campaign does not work, bad computer onboard hence unable to correct the code or faulty wiring with low voltage either way headed back down on saturday to give back problem vehicle for same model without service wrench light problem. They can try to fix it with there time not mine.
Nice SUV
The VUE is not as fast as the Lincoln Mark VIII and not as comfortable as the Grand Marquis but the gas mileage is a lot better (24 - 26) With the back seat down I moved a lot of things like a weight bench, a desk, dish washer things that I couldn't move before. Easy to get in and out of, and I still sit higher. so far I have 25000 miles on it and I never had a problems with it and I don't baby it.
satisfied customer
a real buying experience that was pleasureable, no games to play going back anc forth with salesman and sales manager to get to a price. Knowleageable salesman and dealership staff is extremely customer oriented and polite every time you visit the dealership before and after the purchase. Vehicle is fun to drive and affordably priced so that the options, that are not outrageously priced, are fun to explore and add to make the vehicle extremely attractive. The ride is much more comfortable that former owned competitive SUV. Very pleased. with the vehicle to this point.
