I bought my 95 Sunfire (used) when it was 2 years old. It has given me a really good run since then but a week ago the engine went out. One thing the mechanic told me is to beware of the smallest coolant leak because if not caught early it can ruin the engine. My car gave me 118,000 miles before it broke down but the mechanic did mention that many of the Sunfire's he had worked on went out at 75,000 miles. A good car, but beware once you get into those higher miles.

This car has been great for what it is. The performance is good (for a small sporty coupe). In 166K miles, other than reg maintenence items, I've replaced the crank sensor, water pump and AC compressor. Not bad for a $15k car. It is easy to work on and the 2.3L engine and 5-speed have been rock- solid. I still get compliments on how good the car looks and people can't believe it's a 95 with almost 170k miles. I've driven the car pretty hard, changing the oil every 3000 miles and doing scheduled maintenence. Other than the above mentioned items, I've had great luck with it.
