Wish I didn't have to say goodbye

After 8 years with my Intrigue, I am sad to say goodbye to it, but must due to the increasing repairs I have to make to it. At 40,000 miles, I had sensor issues. At 60,000 miles, I had all hub bearings go out. Now at 130,000 miles I have had alternator, a/c and more sensor issues, a broken fuel gauge, engine mounts replaced, and now a coolant leak that will cost $1000 to fix simply because of the cost of parts for this car and the difficult accessibility to certain areas. I adore the horsepower and performance of the car, but just can't keep up with $4000/year in maintenance costs.

Not sure why GM is ending Olds

I have a little over 40,000 miles now and from an engine standpoint the car runs great. Little problems from that standpoint. The goodies have broken more than once such as the A/C Sensor for automatic climate control and a sensor for the Traction system. Windows stop working once in a while... typical GM problem w/4 door cars. Had his on my LeSabre as well. Car handles well, doesn't have as much 'get up and go' as it did at 20,000 miles. Overall a great purchase for the bucks.

Good Car Overall

Originally bought the car with 36K on it and now at 170K I can't really complain. I haven't had anything major wrong with it, just normal maintenance fixes so far. The one continuous problem that I am having is that the light in the front blinkers keeps going out. I just quit having it fixed.

Combine a smooth, sophicated 3.5 V-6 with a firm yet supple ride, wrapped in muscular understated styling and what do you get? One of GM's best cars. Not a wallowing barge like Oldsmobiles of yesteryear, the Intrigue has the handling and performance I really appreciate. The car is quite handsome, most people think it's a Nissan Maxima. Reliabilty has been good so far, no rattles or squeaks at 52000 miles. You sit high up in a commanding driving position and the ride is comfy. The small things work well on this car; the turn signal and wiper stalks have a crisp feeling to them so often lacking on other GM products. Overall, I think GM got this one right.
