My Cutlass
The best car i ever owned.
The Valent One
Man! I must say, what a car for me. I've been driving Olds Cutlass all my short life (age39). The comfort and highway feel has kept me in them. I've had two 75's, a 77,82,83,84(hurst), two 87 (442's) and a '92 convt. The '92 had 96,000 miles on it when I bought it. Sold with 232,000 miles on it, still running strong. Replacements: alt.,anti- freeze line, front brakes, water pump, conv. top and door handle. It had the 3.1 V6, leather seats, pwr windows, locks, and trunk. Red in color but not a Vett. I changed the oil every 3 to 4000 miles religiously. The most reliable year in Olds that I have ever owned. The '92 Cutlass Conv.

Dream Car
I loved this car from the day it was introduced. I wanted this car the first time I saw it as it was the Pace Car for The Indy 500 that year. i did rebuild the entire fuel system 2 months after purchase as I was unsure of its condition. Since then it has been a very reliable and fun car to drive. I drove it to Florida (I live in Indiana) and this be hard to believe but I averaged almost 40mpg. The designers at Olds knew what they were doing. So, if you are an owner of one of these gems, hang onto it. It will be considered an antique in 3 years and since Olds has been phased out, not only will they retain their value but they will also been a sought after vehicle.
Oldsmobile had it right.
I've owned a good number of cars and by a large margin this is one of the best so far (only better was the Audi). Bought in 2000 with 40,000 miles on it, my odometer just turned over 110,000 miles (as of 8/2010) and I've had few issues short of cosmetic stuff (dash warp, minor rust, etc.) Basic parts are cheap and easy to find. Design is very solid, maybe a bit too sparse on the interior, for some people. Even with the full options package it doesn't look as fancy as the other Olds models. The ride, however, is through and through a Cutlass Supreme. Nice gliding feel like a heavier car but handles sportier than previous years. This is one car that I will drive until the wheels fall off.
Great, Long Lasting Car
My Cutlass is actually an SL and its an awesome car. I was a little cautious about buying it at first because it had quite a few miles on it but its now at 196,000 and the only major thing I've had to do with it is replace a blown head gasket. It leaks antifreeze occasionally but that's the only thing mechanically wrong with it. Its got good acceleration with its 3.1L V6 engine, although the automatic transmission seems to take its time "hunting" if you floor it. This car has very good handling too. I will probably drive it unil it dies and that could be a while.
The more features..the more to go wrong
I have never in my life put out so much hard earned money to keep a vehicle running as I have with my 92 Olds Cutlass Supreme Intl. From the climate control unit , the ECM module, poor brake design, transmission and oil pump leaks, power seats that quit for the no apparent reason, water leaks, sound system problems....the list goes one. In the 5 years I have owned this vehicle, I have invested approx 7500.00 in repairs. I should have known better ...
Best Car
Thes is the best money that I have ever spent. I have over 300,000 miles on this car and it is very reliable. No one believes me, but it's true, I get 33 mpg on the highway. I've measured it repeatedly and it's true.
Yeah Baby
I purchased this car with 30k miles in 1993. It is a 3.4L 5-speed manual Cutlass Supreme International. I have only had minor issues with this car since my purchase. I had to replace the A/C compressor, the automatic climate control unit, shift cables, engine computer, alternator, and the dual mufflers. All of this work was performed after it hit the 100k mark. I think this is one of the best cars I have owned besides my 1991 Pontiac Bonneville.
solid car
Nice, comfortable ride. Good acceleration.
Reliable!
Bought this car 10 years ago. It has never left me stranded (once almost though). After 10 yrs, it's still smooth at 75+mph
Be Leary
This car has been very problematic for me. I have replaced the transmission, alternator, computer components, and so on and so on. I had Toyotas before this and miss the reliability of them. I do not consider this a realible vehicle. Oh yea, expect to go through brakes alot too!
200,000
I bought this car with 100,000 miles all over the US Putting on another 100 grand. This has been a very comfortable freeway cruiser with enough sport to handle tough driving situations close cuts or parallel parking. I have taken this car through the paces. From blizzards and black ice to deserts, mountains and hard to reach terrain. Incredibly stable in all driving situations while still sports- car responsive. Newer version is the Alreo and seems true to form. I drove one a bit and felt right at home.
Int'l Series.....very few around
I have the 3.4L 24V DOHC engine which is great but the mech. problems are the most expensive to fix car I have seen. I just changed the Alt.(7hrs!);they had to take out the strut and even the dealership was surprised at how much work it was....they charged for 4 hours. It is a very nice car to drive and look at and with this engine it has the feel and strength of power under the hood. I bght it with low miles (67500) but unfortunately there was no mech. record log which at least would have given me some indication of the previous owner work. Which I believe was only oil changes.... Overall nice car if nothing breaks.
Miss Trooper
Driving experience is great! I've had no major problems since ownership and my car is very reliable. The mpg is great for a old car which in my opinion is between 25-30. As with any vehicle keep your cutlass well- maintained and it will perform just as well as a new car.
Teenage Olds Lover!
Just recently bought my 93 Cutlass Supreme Convertible. Love is so far! Had always wanted one like my Aunt Lois had when I was young. Found this one with only 55,000 miles on it and I had to jump for it. The only thing i have to do is replace the convertible top and back window seals. a fun car to drive! I love it!
cheaper than therapy
bought this for my wife as she said it would be "cheaper than therapy" to drive a fun car, and it has. driven to work & back or to tennis. lots of pep, great fun to drive topless, has been a great car, now she wants big/luxury. graphite leather interior and ultra brite teal exterior with dark top. it's good looking, not the usual red ragtop have driven it on vacations-it's a real blast. nothing like driving through the mountains or by the water. too bad the car doesn't get more use or good weather to play. has always had synthetic oil, new tires last year, a real cream puff - seriously.
great buy at 15000 grand
very good car in ten years rplaced a set of tires brakes battery and starter always got good milage still tight runs good looks good glad i walked into olds that day
A very Well car.
This car has held up good. We bought it with only 50,000 miles on it. In the miles we put it throught it still has the origional engine and transmition.
great deal really happy with my decision
bought my 1993 Olds Cutlass Supreme S for 800 dollars back in February due to my other car having a seized engine, put in maybe 500 dollars into a new battery and tires and some sensors and runs almost like new. couldn't beat the value. have been using it to drive to work daily since May and at 136k miles runs quiet and like a cadillac.
Nice Summer Cruiser
This has been a soundly-built, quiet automobile. Great pickup, decent gas mileage about 22 mpg. Bad side-blew timing belt, cost big bucks to get fixed, needed immediate brake attention. Love the car, plenty of interior room. Stereo could use more bass.
nice, dependable
nice, sporty, reliable, affordable, comfortable, sturdy, well built
Way BIGGER than expected problems
In 20 months and less than 20,000 miles: Under 60,000 original miles. Expensive brakework ($570) Window switches replaced twice on Driver's side ($400). Cheap plastic. O Ring and Transmission now needs replacing. ($3,000?) Numerous stalling episodes. Still owe $4,000 on this car. Malfunctioning engine light goes on erroneously. Sensor problem. Huge turning space required. No passenger airbag or rear defrost. The car looks, feels terrific. Extremely comfortable to sit in and drive. A mechanics delight. Could own a mercedes for the repair bills. To a prospective buyer: BEWARE of Evil dogs that will bite U over and over.
very good car
can be used for normal purposes and racing
Mother Loves this Car
I bought this car for my mother, recently. I replaced the "rear brakes", one of the low beam headlights, a signal bulb, and a trunk bulb. The car had 297,000 miles on it, when I bought it. It starts instantly with no hesitation, accelerates quickly, is good on gas, has lots of room inside, has huge trunk space, and is just a beautiful car. Oldsmobile did a great job when they designed this car. I would buy the car all over again, if it was still available. Thanks Oldsmobile for such a great car...
Got to take care of the car
I have had my Cutlass for over 7 years now, and put about 125000 miles on it. We have only had the normal maintenance done to the car. It is the best car I have ever owned.
She's gettin old
I got this car after I graduated 7 years ago. It was 8 years old at that time. This car was affordable to buy though it has cost me a bundle in repairs over the years. I figure though that I've not had to repair anything outside of the normal for a car this age. I also used it for racing when I was younger so that put a lot of strain on it (but boy was it fast). At this age of the car I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, but if you could find one a few years newer, I'd say you'd have a winner. The styling was very contemporary. Find and take good care of a convertible version and you'll have a classic someday.
i love my car
i love my car
Not just another convertable
I have been very happy with my 93 Cutlass. It has great looks and draws many looks from other drivers. It has been reliable for me but the way Olds utilizes a subframe for the engine does make repairs costly. Reliability is always an issue of proper prevention and care. This car will be a collector in a few years with the end of Oldsmobile.
Still Strong
Car has 150,000 miles but runs so smooth on the highway at speeds of around 95. Has great power drives like a boat at times, bumps feel like going waves. Love to drive it though, brakes are the biggest problem. Spacious 2 door, 3 people fit comfortably in the back and trunk space is big.
93 Olds Cutlass
I just bought this car for $500 while it was at the young age of 16 and having 200,000 miles. :) I was super impressed when I first drove it, everything was really smooth, especially for it's age. Not long owning it, both front ball joints went out, and I think the the struts might be done too. But everything inside the car it great. The AC and the Heat works well, all the gauges and lights are fine. Basically, when the car you are looking at is a 93, make sure that there is nothing or little wrong with it, otherwise you'll be paying alot more than it's worth to fix. ALSO, when I was in Grand Rapids, MI, I swear I saw about 50 of these cars in a few hours, must be a good sign!
At my wits end!
Well I am not joking when I say that I am at my wits end with this car! I have had many problems with it. Alternator, power steering, brakes, power windows, oil pan and so on... And the cost of fixing them was unbelievable!!!!
Wonderful Experience
I have had a Wonderful Experience with this car, I have had very little repairs, it has a smooth ride and you feel good in the seat and at the steering wheel, I Love this car
Reliable
This was the "kid's car" growing up. I took it to college with me, and now I am in grad school. It is still going strong. It survived 2 teenagers learning to drive in it, countless college roadtrips, and two minor wrecks. It was well over 100,000 miles on it. I don't plan on getting a new car until I am out of grad school which may be another 3 years. I highly recommend it!
1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme
This car is fun to drive and comfortable.
Old Reliable!
I have had this car for over 10 years and 174,000 miles. It's still going strong. I just made a 1,500 mile trip and still got 31 mpg. Its engine purrs at 70 mph. I've been faithful on good maintenance, oil changes every 3,000 miles. I wish I could find a replacement like this one!
