Disappointed with SE-R

Test drove SE-R with auto tranny. Salesman said someone ordered it then brought it back 3 days later. I can understand why. Car is not as powerful as numbers suggest (165hp) Car did not handle well on turns on bumpy roads, the rear end losses grip easily and also likes to bounce around over rail road tracks. Probably due to the fact it does not have independent rear suspension like most cars in its class. I think it is over-priced for what little it offers.

SE-R is a winner!

When I first saw this car, I thought "Jeez, another Japanese car with a rear spoiler...just what I need (NOT!)." Then I drove it...it was great! Smooth, powerful (as a small car can be) and handles like a sports car. My only gripe is the styling. Now if Nissan could make the Altima look and drive like this, they'd have a real winner.

More power is great!

In comparison to the 01 SE 2.0, the new SE-R 2.5L is leaps and bounds better. Dead starts will decrease by at least a second. No longer does the cruise hunt between 3 and 4 on the highway. AT shifts are smoother, 40 more ft/lbs means less shifts for tranny. Lower profile tires mean a little firmer, sportier ride. On the downside, gas mileage seems to lack so far, upgrade 170 watt stereo is still average, bad Pontiac red instrument pod, "Gotta get used to me" front end.

Had the car one week and love it. Plenty of power and handles great. Really sticks to the road, and the ride comfort is not compromised, as in the Spec-V. Comes with plenty of the good options standard, but if you want a sunroof or fosgate stereo, you must take an automatic trans. Overall, for $15,400 you get every penny's worth.
