The body will wear out before the engine will. The Murano is a go getter type of vehicle. Very dependable.

CVT transmissions are crap

I really liked the vehicle for it's power, handling, and style. Unfortunately, the transmission went out at 117k miles and the cost to repair was $6,400! What some bs... Nissan suggested that the probable reason was due to the previous owner not changing the trans fluid every 30k miles.

Looks great and handles great on twisty roads (at posted speeds) and the engine has enough power to go up steep hills without even halfway to redlining! The ride is average but you feel some bumps and road cracks so it's not harsh but it will keep you awake while driving at night. You get a lot of standard features for the money with the SV version (like a backup camera with a good rear side view (that's not available on the base model but it should be), dual zone A/C, pushbutton start, dual moonroof, power driver and power front passenger cloth seats, and a CD stereo with usb input! The reason for only four stars is the average cargo space that only 3 people can use on long trips, wind noise at highway speeds, difficulty seeing around large front side mirrors and pillars, rear air vents that barely work, the CVT trans. that doesn't shift low enough for instant passing power on the highway, the overly light steering in city driving, slightly touchy brakes, no heated mirrors or wiper deicer, and a windshield defroster that doesn't let you recirculate the air so you always bring in outside smoke or car exhaust until you switch it to face or feet (which sometimes gets to be a challenge in the winter), and is sometimes hard to park in a straight line because of slanted windows which are hard to use as a guide, headlights which were aimed way to low at the factory which I had to re-adjust later, and an A/C that took a little while to figure out! I also don't like the interior dome light factory settings because it only stays on for 8 seconds after you turn off the engine which isn't long enough for me so I always have to turn it on manually which is an extra inconvenience! If it was set for even a minute before turning itself off it would be a big improvement! I also found out that the stereo is a special unit that can't be replaced by an aftermarket stereo because it is also directly hooked up to the a/c controls so it will cost over $1,400 to replace it in a few years (yikes)!

Uncomfortable!

I hate the drivers seat. 2 years now and still hate it. I have the Ieather seats and it cuts into the back of my right leg. Passengers complained about the back seats on a long road trip. Said they were like concrete blocks. Repairs have been ok until today. Control arm and tie rods are going at 70,000 miles. 1400.00 with some other regular maint. that needs to done. Will put towards a deposit on another vehicle. Done with a numb right leg.

I'm on my 3rd Nissan Murano & I don't know what the company can do to add any more features. Been driving Nissans since they were Datsuns & they have always been reliable, comfortable vehicles. The Murano is stylish, reliable and I've enjoyed traveling on the roads with it. I have since had a 2018 with all the bells & whistles but I think I've enjoyed the timeless style and comfort of the 2012 more!
