Most unreliable car I have ever owned

I have had some horrible experiences with this vehicle, starting with a bad transmission at 48K miles, ending with a bad radiator and steering rack at 62K miles. The interval between 36K and 65K miles so far has yielded literally close to $8K or more in needed repairs for a vehicle that is driven very lightly and locally. Thank God for the extended warranty else I would have sold this thing years ago!!!

Ordered my '07 SL AWD Touring w/ Nav and VDC (Platinum exterior and caffe interior) mid August and finally got delivery of the vehicle about two weeks ago. The ride is very smooth and acceleration is adequate. Braking is very responsive and navigation system has been able to find all addresses I've entered so far even brand new streets. Owned a Jeep previously and the stability of the Murano is much better, no roll. I'm averaging around 21 mpg. Also purchased extended warranty (6 yrs/72,000 miles) for $995 which was a good deal.

It uses oil and has transmission leak all by 80k miles total junk and resale of junk is not good ! BEWARE

Car averages 15 mpg and has numerous problems with door locks failing and most notably the driver seat forward and reverse motor. Because of the common failure of this 2 x 4" 12 volt motor owners must shell out up to $1,800 to replace the whole assembly. I requested the old parts and tested each of the three motors and found the forward/reverse motor defective. It took 10 minutes to remove this motor to look inside; no apparent damage but a poor ohms reading and no reaction to adding power to the motor. Cleaned commutator and adjusted brushes to make it operational. Nissan does not sell this motor as an OEM part and you rarely see a used on for sale. This is a big drawback for the Nissan Murano as you never know when the seat will fail or the power locks which cost $1,200 to have the dealer repair. Regal Nissan policy is to gouge the customer to the utmost rather than partner in a satisfied dealer-customer relationship. Steer clear and look at a reliable Ford or Chevy. The master cylindefr failed next, $776 for the dealer to replace but none in stock and none in Atlanta. NAPA garage replaced for $435 with OEM part. Next time I will pull it, place it in a bench vice and simply hone it with a tool from Pep Boys in about 5 minutes and use a kit to rebuild it. to If you google for nissan problems in general or by year, you will find many frustrated owners; many who promise to never own another Nissan. Great older vehicle that looks like a newby

This is one great car. Had our mechanic give it the top to bottom and he said he would let his kids own it. He was concerned at first as the Murano can have a goosey transmission. This one shows no signs of any issues and it tight as drum. Not a bit of trouble and everything works great. I'm amazed that an 8 year old vehicle has so many of he current frills like back-up camera and key-less entry.
