Not a long term car - too bad

Loved my Murano from day 1 but am learning the hard way it won't go long term without some heavy costs. Currently @53,000 miles. Driver's seat rail collapsed just after warranty expired. Nissan USA forced dealership to cover the repair without cost - it clearly wasn't normal wear & tear. Now electrical systems are acting up - even when not it in use the Bose 6 disc CD player shuffles discs when the ignition is turned off. Front windows roll down when the remote is used to unlock the car. Occasionally, a motor under the passenger seat triggers and whines when I turn the ignition off.

I live on a very long and curvy road that I travel twice a day. This is a very fun ride through those curves. It is also nice to not feel so top heavy when taking corners. No tipping over worries here.

Formerly a 328i owner, I wanted something that had more space but didn't compromise function for fashion, nor quality for character. For me, the Murano definitely has the space and quality I was looking for and the leather package added all the extras I might have missed in the BMW. Unfortunately, the standard- issue CVT transmission was a let-down but the ability to shift into sport- mode has me back in the fast lane.

Bought Murano after many GM's. Like looks and performance, at 34000 miles rear brakes, completely worn out, metal to metal, too small for vehicle. Gas filler neck very rusty, very early, poor galvanization. In 4th year,at 40000 miles, chrome on Grill peeled and muffler broke off (rusted off) at inlet pipe. $400. just for muffler, from dealer. Poor quality on Grill chrome and muffler. Bought wife used Toyota RAV4, absolutely no problems. Phoned Nissan about quality problems, they said out of warranty, too bad. I believe some of these problems are due to Cleveland winters, but other cars don't have these problems.

The first place we went was up Highway 2,in Pasadena, Into the mountains. All Smiles from the wife as she negosiated the winding road at 20 mph above the posted speed. The SE Supension really holds the road and on the freeway or City streets it is very smooth. We are looking forward to the Mexico trip to see how well it handles We expect to be all smiles. The SE Supension is simular to a sports car but not rough. The Power is very good from the 3.5 V6 and the CVT transmission is amasing. The Murado is a Luxury Vehicle with out the Big price Tag The adjustable seating for all 5 seats is great I was susprised by the comfort.the Drivers

The 1st suv that really rides like a sedan. Great pick up in town and on Hwy. We avg. about 27 mpg Hwy and 20 mpg city. ( After breakin period of 1500 miles.) Merlot was the color of choice. Very eye catching vehicle. Great for couple who want style performance and comfort. We have the S model, which come with alot of standard equipment. The safty rating is awesome it has front and side curtain airbag (Big Plus for us, we have kids.) Another thing great interior space for adults front or rear. My wife and I have enough leg space in the front know we have two kids in carseats behind us. And they even have leg space to spare. The AWD is great kick in when needed nough said. Very feature laden: Nav, Intelligent Key, memory heated seats, rear backup video monitor, Sat. radio...quite a few "nice to haves". Does not "feel" like a top heavy SUV, not tippy in the turns. I have no kids so room is immense to me, easy to get to items in the rear with seat fold down levers/lightweight hatch. Rear seats tilt for added comfort for your family/friends. Smooth ride considering it is an SUV. If your a geek like me and value this combo over utilty...give her a test ride. Don't get Edmund's dislike of the tranny, its not a top fuel dragster...its like its not even there! no harsh shifts...just seamless shifts...very nice indeed.

Bought Murano SL AWD after testing MDX, XC-90, SRX and Jeep GC. Performance, good mpg, power at elevation (5,000ft+) made for winning combination. MPG = 18.5-20.0(stopngo 30-50mph) and 21.5-24.5(65-75mph) manually calculated. Very comfortable seats for up to five adults. Excellent radio and XM rocks! Ease of entry/exit well designed. Good driving position. No BMW(drove 3-series for 8 yrs) but handles/corners twisties extremely well. AWD is solid in light-deep snow and on ice. Insurance rates quite low. NO problems. Bought platinum/cabernet and get lots of compliments. Little wind noise at highway speeds (65- 75mph+). Very good mountain vehicle on-road and very light off-roading. YES!

I bought this fully loaded murano with nav. and back up camera. Both were purchased for the sole purpose of being another "toy" but turn out to be quite functional and fun. Excellent ride, not mushy but a little on the firm sporty side. Great handling, better than my 1997 pontiac GTP.Gas mileage around 21 mixed driving which is great because I have learned they get better after some break-in. Good all around performance. Great in snow with AWD model. Steering and braking are predictable with just the right feel. A little hard to judge distance in the front when parking, back up camera eliminates this problem in the rear. I like this car better than the rx330 or fx45 that I drove.

I have owned my 2004 SE AWD Murano since June of 04. I have had zero defects or complaints. The tires are entry level and I will upgrade to a set of 255/55z X 18 when the stock tires get thin. I have 13800 miles on the vehicle and only oil changes for expences. I put a bug deflector on the vehicle because they attract stones to the windshield as well as bugs. When you look at the vehicle from the side you can see the muffler hanging down. It is not just my Murano, they all hang down. The dealer said that is the way they come. I would suggest the Nissan Co. get a new exaust system designer for this car. An exaust system should not be seen or heard, unless its on a Harley Davidson. J

The room in this vehicle is amazing. My 6 ft son has more than enough room in the rear seat even when the front seat is full back. The back seat also reclines for even more comfort. The upgraded seating is comfortable for long trips. My wife no longer has to "fall" into a vehicle or "crawl" out of it, a real bonus for arthritic folks. Wide footprint, excellent handling. Didn't think I would buy anything other than traditional american vehicle until I drove this!

Enjoy vehicle - bought vehicle for new look and Nissan reliability. Have previously been a Toyota owner and fan. Variable transmission has not detracted from the vehicle- it has a fast passing speed. Love the new look - definitely not a box like most other suvs. Overall a very roomy, soid, fun car to drive. Have had to have the car serviced once - required reprogramming of software so transmission functioned properly. Other than that, no problems. Would like a better paint surface - tends to scratch very easily. Overall, very happy with vehicle.

We traded my 2003 350Z for the Murano when my husband had a serious heart attack in July of 2004. I wasn't sure I would be happy with this car because I have always driven sports cars. However, this has proven to be a wonderful car in town and on the road. We took our first trip from Atlanta to Cedar Key,FL. in March and it was a delight. I love all the space in the car which made packing so simple compared to a trunk.. I didn't want a big SUV that seems some women drivers have a problem driving but this size is perfect. I guess you can tell I REALLY like this Murano.

We started looking at SUVs 2 yrs ago knowing we'd buy this yr. After looking at lots of factors and models, we knew the Murano was for us. It replaced a '99 Altima SE which was a great car but couldn't hold much cargo. The Murano really is like a tall more comfortable Altima. It's also as fast as many larger V6 or V8 SUVs but still averages about 21 mpg.

I recently purchased a Nissan Murano after doing an extensive search on mid- size SUVs. While looking, I hadn't even considered this vehicle as an option, but after sitting in it at an auto show, my curiosity was piqued. It has all the features I was looking for in an SUV (pick-up, size, speed, features), plus some added bonuses like lots of cargo space and tons of safety features. From reviews, it sounds like the reliability is good and the gas and emissions ratings (important in California) are pretty decent. I'ts got awesome pick-up and drives and handles like a car. I was interested in "pilot- ing" it until this came along. I was sold.

This is my first foreign vehicle and, so far, the best vehicle that I've ever owned! The CVT is extremely pleasant to drive and the versatility of the interior space is outstanding. The styling of this vehicle reminds me of the cars that guys who could draw used to draw in their notebooks back in high school when wishing to design what cars of the future looked like.

While I love the look feeling and driving this car it is horrible on gas mileage. I live and work in a major city and only get 9.4 miles per gallon when I'm driving in the city. I can get in the high 20s on the highway, but for me this poor fuel economy is making me consider selling after only 1 year.

I've always liked the exterior styling of the Murano, with the two chromed tailpipes protruding from under the swept-up rear cabin area.(Impractical) black paint color makes it look even more "Darth Vader"-ish. Being a knowledgeable 'car nut', I was pleasantly surprised by the quick acceleration(0-6 in 8.0 sec) of the V6, given the 2-ton weight, but I think this is due to the ingenious CVT transmission(a modern version of the old Buick DynaFlow) which also helps maximize fuel economy(25mpg on the highway). The SE's suspension is a bit harsh, and there is some noticeable road noise intrusion into the cabin. Controls are well positioned and easily learned, and FINALLY---the perfect sunvisor.

I was in the market for an SUV style because I needed a more room...I discovered the Murano inadvertantly. The more I looked at it the more appealing it was to me...I'd describe it as very comfortable to drive and it is easy to access...no stooping or climbing to get in...I am very happy with the colors I chose for the interior/exterior. The mileage is not too bad either...I have an 80 mi/day commute and I figured I'd have to sacrifice a little bit in order to get what I wanted, but it really hasn't been too much of a sacrafice afterall. It is a sturdy and very reliable car and I would definately recommend it to anyone in need of room/comfort without the typical SUV/Truck automobile feel.

Test drove tons of SUVs and nothing compares to the Murano. The outside looks compact, but the inside is so smartly configured, my 6'5", 300 lb husband has no problem getting comfortable! Manuevers better than my previous sedan, however it does lack the 'zip' my sedan had. But once you get going, power is not a problem. Interior is beautiful and the standard model includes some great features which makes the Murano a great value.

I received this vehicle as a rental. The design of the rear quarter windows creates one of the worst blind spots in any vehicle I've driven. The layout of the controls are not very well organized. The mirror controls are way to far out of reach. Fuel mileage was very poor at 17 mpg. My 15 year old F-150 with a V-8 does better! I wish the rental company could have given me an American vehicle.

I'd avoided buying into the whole SUV lifestyle...until I met "Murray". What a delight this vechicle has turned out to be! The ride is excellent, the power generous despite the occassional report by others that the CVT drains the V6's power. My husband (a die-hard Ford pickup man) has admitted Murray has even won his heart...especially when he gets the opportunity to leave other folks in the dust with their mouths hanging open in surprise of the Murano's ability to get up and GO when asked. Some catch up just to see what just passed them...besides the smiling driver.

As my family is growing up and gas prices are soaring, I made the decision to trade my Expedition for a Murano and am very happy I did. The Murano has nice tight handling around my country roads. I do agree that the transmission intermitently become sluggish, but it is not intolerable. It is quiet and quick to stop. The milage continues to improve and the bells and whistles of my SL have been fun. The interior is roomier than it appears and I love the automatic/personalized seat adjustment. The cargo space is smaller than I am used to, but with the easy flip down of the seats I have been able to move furniture. It has taken time to get used to the car's blind spots.

I actually wanted another Maxima, I had previously owned four. However getting older I could no longer enter and exit the Maxie in comfort. The Murano fit the bill perfectly. Nissan quality, comfort and reliability. This car is a pleasure to drive and I get stares wherever I go. I think they do not know what kind of car it is.

What a great vehicle! It is extremely comfortable to drive with many customized adjustments to make the driving experience even better. The Bose sound system is top notch. There are so many features (for not a bad price) that I am still finding some of them. The CVT transmission takes some getting used to and can feel a little sluggish on cold mornings. Many auto touch features as well (headlights, cliamte, sunroof). Just a very fun vehicle to drive. Very solid construction, especially with the SE's sports suspension. Highly recommend it!

This is an impressive performer and a must-have vehicle for those who are interested in a mid-sized SUV. This one of the nicest Nissans that I have had the privilege to own and I plan to take good care of this gem. I hope to learn more about the many new features that this car has to offer. Now is the time for all prospective buyers to take the plunge, as the sales are on and take advantage now.

Before I purchased my Murano, I was at the Lexus dealership about to purchase a Lexus GS 330 (my dream car). I decided on the Murano because the Lexus had no utility value. The Lexus RX 330 was a nice alternative however its styling was a bit girlish for me. The Murano provided me everthing I wanted (and more) in a car with the added utility value of a small truck. The Murano rides, handles and is more comfortable the many cars that I have owned in the past. The Bose sound system is execellent. The cabin is spacious and gobbles up whatever you put into it. I would not trade my Murano for anything else.
