A driver's car with comfort and class.
I've owned Jaguars, Camry's, Mustang GT's, and 240's (both Z & SX), and I have trouble thinking how the Maxima could be better designed. It delivers absolutely wonderful performance for a sedan, with a nearly perfect balance of handling and ride comfort. The cabin is a joy for the driver, while still being quite pleasant for passengers on long trips. I bought my '95 GLE in late '99 with 39K on it, have 76K on it now, and expect to drive it for at least another 50K, at which point I'll look for another used Maxima.

Great Machine
This is my second Maxima, I also owned a 1991, which I drove to its death at 250,000 miles. I also own a 2003 with 102,000 miles. This 1995 currently has 175,000. It is a fabulous machine to drive, I had some replacements problems by having to replace alternator, starter, CV axles, a couple of fuel injectors, infamous knock sensor and the coolant temp sensor apart from regular brake, tune up, oil changes. I think the tricky thing is when the one of the fuel injectors starts acting up, the car/computer thinks the knock sensor and the temp sensor is bad, which was not the case with my and actually one of the injector was going bad. Parts are expensive but a reliable car.
Rocket Ship
I have had two Maximas since 1990, the first one saved my life in an accident. It had 88K miles on it without a major repair. Its sister, nicknamed "the rocket ship" now has 174+k miles on it and I expect it to go to 250k, it still runs great. I love this car, no major repairs (just brakes, tires and the power steering belt). I don't think you could kill that engine if you wanted to.
FUN!!!
Love my Maxima! This was the first maxima I had ever driven. After the test drive, I was convinced. The 3.0 L V6 is phenomenal! So smooth, and so torquey! With the manual tranny, this car is a blast to drive. I felt the suspension is a bit soft and allowed too much body roll, so when my struts went 94k miles, I went with aftermarket struts/springs, and now it handles like a dream. Really fun car with plenty of room for the family!
