Only knocks I could find in reviews of this vehicle when purchased was lack of techy stuff and gas mileage not so good. Here is a more accurate review. Gas mileage is much better than anything I have ever owned (Chevy, Ford, Dodge) at 23 average . I am extremely pleased with the performance for a 4 banger. Plenty of get up and plenty of power for what I needed. This is a tow vehicle for our motorhome and seems to be exactly what we needed. The comfort while driving is great with plenty of room for a guy over 6 foot. Really easy to access everything within the cab and Body lines are fantastic! Our dealership was AWESOME!! BZ out to Benton Nissan of Bessemer!

Great truck for use by anyone needing to move furniture and belongings anywhere in nation. Cab is more comfortable than the critics say, Jump seats in back of driver and passenger are perfect for children or small people, rearview camera a great plus. Inexpensive to maintain, but milage is typical of most pick-ups (approx 19.5 mpg, with 5 speed manual, city and interstate driving). The four cylinder engine is great for my use, but substantially underpowered for towing anything larger than lawn mowing equipment.

I was looking for a replacement for my 2005 Ford Sportrac. I went to all the different dealers to see the Tacoma, Colorado and Ridgeline. I liked the Ridgeline the best....but then I got sticker shock of almost $38K for what I wanted. I decided that that was way too much and dropped back to my second choice...the Frontier SV...which I purchased with all taxes and dealer junk costs for under $28K. It also included step rails on the truck. The 6cyl engine gives me plenty of power and I average 20 mpg. The controls are nice and simple which for my simple brain is just fine. The only downside to the truck is the ride tight and a bit rough. The the sound proofing could be improved. No to any squeaks. Overall, I'm very please with my simple truck.

The first Nissan I ever owned, glad I upgraded to the PRO 4x. Got everything thing we need inside and it will go anywhere. Pull 16’ foot don’t even know it’s back there. Gas mileage average 19mpg. The only I don’t like is it seams harder to remove all the bugs from grill and front bumper.

Rented tgis for a week at Christmas

Visited Indiana just after Christmas and was stuck with this truck by Alamo. Was a 4X4 SV. I wasn’t thrilled with driving a truck, as I planned to drive to Ohio and Michigan before returning to Indiana and didn’t need a truck or the low mpg. The 4X4 paid off as the last couple days brought some messy snow. I have had AWD before, but never had used 4 wheel drive. I read the manual and it was easy to carefully switch when needed. My driving was 90 percent highway and when using 2wd got approximately 20 mpg. In poor weather with more city and using 4wd more it was about 17 mpg. The turn radius was poor, but backup camera helped. The ride was okay, but felt very bouncy on bumps. I owned a 2013 Toyota Tacoma 2wd for a short time and I liked that truck much better. The extended cab is nice for the additional seating but hurts side visibility if you are checking your shoulder on lane changes.

The old new 2019 Nissan Frontier

I had a Nissan Pickup back in the early 90's. I also appreciate the simplicity of this 2019 model. I smiled when I flipped down the night setting on the mirror. My lexus has an auto dimming mirror that I can't tell that it's doing anything. This truck is a value proposition and even more so since they're changing the drive train for 2020. All the old simple trucks & cars are going for big money at the auctions. This is a rare new truck that's build old school. Only have 100 miles on mine. The difference between the one back in the 90's is this one has a '1' vin number and that one had a J. I prefer a J, but was willing to compromise for the steal of a century. lolz

Don’t get a manual transmission

My son bought a brand Nissan Frontier 4x4 with a manually transmission. At around 30000 miles the clutch came apart. After a lot of arguing with the dealer they agreed to replace the parts but labor was not included. After the repair the Nissan manager told him he would never buy a Nissan truck with a manual transmission because of the mechanical problems. Apparently they forgot to tell my son that when he bought it new. He drove straight to the Toyota dealer to trade it in.

Considering a New Nissan?

This truck has not changed since 2005 much. There have been some cosmetic changes yet those changes are small and not much of an enhancement. In fact this truck has the poorest interior of all midsize trucks. The engine is fantastic, I love the HP to torque ratios on this truck and the fully boxed frame. Cons are that there are sensor issues(fail before the part they sense), coolant mixing with the transmission giving the user huge bills, power train issues. Unfortunately, every mechanic I have taken this truck to seems to not know how to fix those issues either. Many parts have been replaced by my own hands. This is the frustrating part and in the end you spend a lot of money trying to repair this truck and the worst part is that Nissan dealerships are denying responsibility for any of those issues. They are ignored even though thousand I mean thousands(just google the truck you will see) are reporting transmission issues due to a part that is faulty and allows coolant to mix with transmission fluid. The heater inside the truck has never really worked for me either since I bought it new. It is unfortunate that many users are experiencing the same issues especially if they are safety issues. I do not recommend buying this truck unless youre ok with it lasting 10 years maximum. Do not buy if you plan to make it a long lasting vehicle. The interior seets are also causing me back issues due to how uncomfortable they are. Nissan has a real possible gem here but as long as they don't address and DENY these issues I would say DO NOT BUY this potentially bad ass truck! Months later I'm being asked to update this review and again, youll want to spend another 6K on a Toyota! Being asked again to update the review and it’s on its last leg 14 yrs running and recently replaced rotors, fan clutch, thermostat, spark plugs, and now my coils are going out one by one. Do Not purchase! These trucks dont last!!! UPDATE: There is a really nice new Frontier model coming out in 2022. Heed my warning, it is still a Nissan and likely to have all the same issues the previous frontier had. I talked to a guy with a Chevy and Ford pickup truck who had the same mileage and they had not replaced anything in their pickups other than the TPMS tire sensors. DO NOT BUY A NISSAN, I will never walk into another Nissan dealership! Update: 12/16/2022 I still use the truck and boy it’s nice to have it running. However, every year there are at least 2 major repairs needed on the truck. Since I bought the truck every year it has required one or two major repairs each year. I feel like I built the engine compartment with all the parts. Bottom line this truck was trash when I bought it and has not changed. These trucks do not age well. Inspect for rust on the frame under your Nissan when/if you buy as well. 6/18/2023 No change. 12/2024 I just replaced the power steering pump. Many frontiers are having the same issue and is because the power steering pump connector (nozzle that connects the suction/reservoir hose to the pump is faulty. So if you are leaking address it right away or it will ruin your alternator(like it did to my alternator) and starter. The PS pump connector I am referring to was not machined correctly so there is a slow steady leak coming from what appears to be the pump. Your pump is likely functioning, just check your fluid level and maintain a full level or replace the entire assembly. TO DATE: The last items to replace on the truck are the timing belt tensioners which NISSAN knew was faulty and denied fixing it. Well I’ve had my truck for 20 years and after year 1 those timing tensioners failed. I am still driving with failed tensioners and it whines like a wife. I hate that Nissan couldn’t fix this for me after the thousands I gave them and after they knew about it. I am so glad they are going down in business and the people have had it with NISSAN and no longer buying them. The American people got screwed badly by NISSAN and now they are paying up on all those class action law suits!!! Redemption is delicious!
