I absolutely LOVE my cube

This is my first car. I spent months car shopping. I test drove a Nissan Altima, Kia Soul, and VW Bug all at the same dealership and decided to go to a different dealership because none of them were for me. I told the seller that I wanted something small with lots of space and he automatically brought me over to the Cube. I had been looking at a cube online for months, but was hesitant. After test driving it, there was no doubt that it was the right car for me. It's quirky, yet cute. I feel like I'm less likely to get hit on the road because it's hard to miss the box. Lol. Pros: comfortable seats, plenty of space throughout entire vehicle, rides smoothly (city wise), great speakers, controls on steering wheels, gorgeous interior and exterior. Cons: Gas mileage is good, but it could be better, very noisy once you hit about 65+ and sounds like you have a window down, you get blown around a bit when on the highway while passing big vehicles, Windows can be hard to see out of when backing up at night with no street lights around. It has a few cons, but they aren't too major. I LOVE this car and never get tired of driving it. There's a good chance that I'll buy another once its time for a new car.

Go to the Nissan Consumer Affair website and read the article regarding the extended warranty placed on their vehicles with the CVT transmissions. They are fully aware that they are ALL failing! This has been going on since 2003, beginning with the Rogue. My transmission failed after owning the 2010 Cube for only 2 years. Nissan refused to replace the transmission and now I am stuck either paying $4000 for a replacement, or buying a new car. Nissan refuses to recall the CVTs due to it "not being a safety issue." Tell that to my children who were scared to death when we were almost struck in traffic because my transmission failed while driving! You press the gas pedal, the car does nothing. Thank you Nissan, for providing me with the worst car & customer service I've ever had. I will never buy another Nissan.

This car is a total joke. CVT transmission is junk. Had to have it replaced at 58,000 miles, of course it was under warranty, however now at 130000 miles the transmission is toast again. This time it is out of warranty!! Shouldn't have to replace a transmission so often.

Fun Car, but a few too many problems too soon

2010 Nissan Cube 1.8 SL 4dr Wagon (1.8L 4cyl CVT)

We bought this car 3 years ago with around 55,000 miles on it for $13,000 after taxes. At the time this was one of the cheapest Cube SL's available in the state (from what I researched, and I did a lot of it). Found out it's because our dealer had it listed and priced as a Cube S not the SL. Win Win, I suppose. It did great for us a couple years. Gas mileage is around 30 mpg. It's an odd looking car, but in a way it makes it unique and really stand out. It's got a ton of airbags in it, so the safety features are pretty great for the price of the car. HOWEVER, then the issues came. Like most newer cars today, everything is electronic. It's got a push start, which I like, however, if you do your research, Nissan has a huge problem with the Electronic Steering Column Lock. Once it locks, the only way to fix it is to replace it, and this is a job that you must use a Nissan dealer for. Prior to 2010, this was a recall on many of Nissan's vehicles, but not for the 2010. Ultimately the car does not recognize that your key is in the car and it locks the steering column. Why they even added this, I do not know. Or at least make the steering column lock manual like most cars. So the car had to be towed, that was $150 and then the repair was $800. Then another issue happened that so common in cubes. The back door latch stopped working. Again, this is electronic. Even though it made the click as it was being unlocked, it stayed locked. This is something you could fix yourself if you know what you're doing, but ultimately this results in you (or the dealer) having to bust the lock open which results in the need for a brand new lock. We decided we weren't' going to worry about it. From what I researched, this was a $500 fix. We'd rather deal with a locked door than put another $$$ in the car. Fortunately, after a week or so, the door started working. Because of both of these issues, we don't know how long the car will last, I don't see it being that reliable. The engine and tranny has been great so far. No issues there. The A/C is insanely cold. The interior space is fantastic. The electronic issues though, they are just too much.

I've owned this car about 6 months now, and I feel I can now make an informed decision on it. When I was shopping for this vehicle, I considered the Xb, Soul, Fiesta/Mazda 2, Suzuki SX4 and the Matrix/Vibe. What sold me on this one was the overall value the cube represents. The vehicle is deceptively big inside. I'm 6'1 and have about 8 inches of headroom. The interior can swallow a lot of stuff. The available features for the money are impressive. Traction control, wheel mounted stereo controls, bluetooth, iPod connectivity. The car gets fairly decent gas mileage. The biggest holdup is it's shape. A brick isn't very aerodynamic. If I had to do it over, I would buy this car again.

Back in October I was given the cube to drive while husband's car being serviced. When I looked at it I said, "You have got to be kidding!" Well, after driving it for 36 hours - I was in love! Traded in my 3 year old Civic and have not regretted it once. This car makes you happy! Fun, kwirky, economical and smart - this is an under-sung great little but roomy car! Also, it was a real champ in the snow this past winter. Am thrilled with my gas mileage as well. I average between no less then 31 mpg and up to 35mpg - which did seem to increase after the 3,000 mile mark. In my 40 some years of driving I have never loved a car. I do now.

Love cube at first sight! I love its unique design wrapped with many glasses! I chose between the sl model and krom. My favorite color is scarlet red but they don't have it in krom edition. Finally, I picked my steel Grey krom edition instead because it's fully loaded. I would say that I made a good decision even though I paid more $ but it comes with push button ignition, rear view monitor, front fascia and grille, & rear roof spoiler, aluminum-trimmed pedals and usb connectivity (iPod®- compatible)! It looks very unique & cute. The cube is so roomy and the performance was better than my old matrix xr esp. The tight turning radius. It's fun to drive with and I got many compliments.

I have to say, I have never taken the time to do a review on anything. But after purchasing my 2010 CUBE and having some time to really get a feel for the car, I could not help from expressing what a pleasure it is to drive. I traded in my 2007 Nissan Sentra and was actually going to buy a NEW Sentra, but something told me to take a look at the CUBE. YES...it has a funky look to it, YES..I might be having a mid life crisis..But I have to tell you that this car does not drive anyway that it looks. What I mean is that at first glance, you would think very light, lots of road noise, not stable on the highway at high speed...NOT TRUE....I love this Car....

Purchased for reliability and gas mileage. thought I wouldn't like the design but now I love it. I can see from all angles, it drives, corners and parks very well! I'm at 33.8 mpg avg. The sound system is great. Some reviews had 3 bad issues. 1. engine noise on acceleration is no worse than any other 4 cyl engine I've had. 2. highway noise at 45 mpg is true and I have not driven in strong wind. ( turn up the radio and it's gone) 3. reflection is true and very freaky, still trying to get used to it but it doesn't bother my husband so maybe it's personal. It is very comfortable and the 6'4" husband has at least 8" of head room. Yes I get the "what the H?" looks but oh well!

Measuring the Toyota XB, Hundai Tuson, and Kia Soul for dollars and sense. The Cube came on top for me. If you are seeking 100% Japan made econo utility vehicle with functionality, the Cube is a home run. It s an excellent commuter and can comfortably travel long distances. The wind does become turbulent and feels light in the front end above 80 mph, but what other encono -vehicle doesn't. You drive any 15 to 20 K$ car and tell me it drives like BMW feel at 80 mph. I think people tend to get over critical on value vs. quality. Remember this car was made in Japan for 10 years before coming to the states. It is a small multi-purpose vehicle for 30 mpg on regular. This is a great car for the US

At first when I saw this car, like most people, I was kind of confused. It's a love it or hate it car. Fortunately I like a little different and after looking at it more, I was in love. I was looking for a small car with great visibility, safety features, and style. This gave everything. We got the Krom edition, although the dealership though it was the SL edition, so we saved a little money. The rims are a great feature, as well is the sound package. After 2 years of ownership, all that we've had to do is maintenance; tires, oil, etc. There are iffy reviews out there on the CVT, but so far we've had great success with our little cube. One thing that totally surprised me was the interior room. My friend and I were looking at the car when I bought it, he's a bigger guy and even he sat comfortably in the back. The room sits much higher over the seats than it looks on the outside (and the design on the ceiling is pretty cool too). The seats are bucket, I wish they were, it makes taking corners interesting, but it's whatever. The car was a great price. My only real complaint is that the driver seat doesn't have it's own arm rest. I don't understand why it wasn't put on. You either battle the driver for the rest or sit awkwardly without anywhere to put your arm. If you are a drinking type, you will like the 8+ cup holders in this car too! HA

The first Cube I drove was a rental, like so many people I was very skeptical at first, but after I drove it for a couple of days I was hooked; I came back home and I bought a brand new 2014, one of the last ones made. Love my Cube, it has a great acceleration, is very good on gas 31.5 MPG. It's roomy, like the fact that has Bluetooth technology, a fantastic stereo CD/FM, good safety features, literally surrounded by airbags....

Nissan's Asymmetric Box

Bought a 2010 base model cube 18 months ago thru a private party sale. Didn't really know what to expect, I just liked it's look and size. It far exceeded all my expectations. I'm 6'4" 210 lbs, and this car feels roomy to me. It's the first car that I haven't had to slide the driver's seat all the way back to be comfortable. I'll get straight to the points of this review. Cons: 1)Too many gears for a 1.8 liter engine, 3rd & 4th are hard to find from neutral. 2) Acceleration is weak in middle gears, barely satisfactory. 3) Gas milage isn't quite what's advertised. 4) Too many things in the way of checking the plugs. 5) Although comfortable for passengers, there's not enough cargo space. 6) Front turn signal bulbs are almost inaccessible. If these drawbacks are minor to you(they are for me), you'll love the cube. It's curious, fun, and utilitarian. The "pros" are too numerous to mention.

After doing some researched, comparing with Scion XB & Kia Soul, I thought I didn't like the shape of the Cube's back/butt, I thought of a bumble bee. But when I test drove it,I couldn't stop thinking about it when I got home. The next day went back to the dealer & decided to purchased the Cube for better gas mileage, design/style, price & lower APR, durability & reliability, I hope-since this is our 1st Nissan (like our 2 other dependable Toyota's)to mention some advantages over the other 2 I considered. I am very happy w/ this car, it feels like I'm driving a small SUV, smooth ride & handling. My son loves to ride it,too as he can recline the back seat.

Just got it a week ago and getting more amazed at overall difference - which I'd never known if I didn't drive it over a 100 miles. Especially 'different' inside - feeling comfortable and even cozy. It literally keep dragging me to get inside. A feeling I've never felt before even in more expensive luxury vehicles. Also, even it is under-power (just over 120 hp) and kinda noisy upon excel, the other standard features are just rocks(more than Hyundai or Kia except warranty)! Also considering 2010 record of top safety pick and reasonable price(same as Kia forte), how come there could be another choice? '100% Made in Japan' is also a great add-on for a peace of mind watching TOYOTA crisis.

I've loved my cube since I picked it up from the dealership. I was originally interested in the similar Versa, but I couldn't get the cube out of my head and when I compared them side by side and discovered they were much the same, my decision was made. Driving it is a blast. It's easy to drive, control is good. The interior is surprisingly roomy for a car of its size. It does get some funny looks driving down the road, but I can't say I mind. The audio quality is really good for a car in this price range. I love the standard iPod and Bluetooth integration. I've had my cube for about two months now, and I'm completely in love with it! (mileage is just an estimate)

So far it's been a love affair. I like being 6'4" and not knocking my hat off getting into the driver's seat. In fact, the car is very comfortable for four large adults. The ride is nice and supple. I like the cabin layout and the clear all around visibility. The first tank of gas netted me an averaged 33mpg. The Cube is well thought out and an exceptional value.

Got my car 5 months ago & have put 13+k miles on it. Great drive and reliable at braking (especially with crazy drivers). I drive from LA to OC everyday. You don't hear any wind noise if you blast on the music when driving on the fwy. Great acceleration but makes noise when going too fast. Get sunglasses (you'll need them!). You'll get used to the window reflections after a while. Nice air conditioning-good thing it has one because you'll need it if you don't like wind noise. Shakes a lot during very hard windy seasons. At first driving, small winds make the car move and shake (you'll get used to that, too). Stay away from road cracks-tire traction grips them all! Back is roomy for lunch naps.

If you're looking for a car that just keeps going, this is the one for you. At 190,000 miles I've had to replace the alternator, serpentine belt, and the front brake pads. That's it! It's not the flashiest, nimblest, or quickest car on the road, but if you just want a car that goes when you're ready too, the cube is just what the dr. Ordered

Ok, it's unusual looking, but that was it's appeal. I needed a car to drive to the beach on the weekend, and this toaster provides me with a huge amount of room for my kayaks, etc. I friend just bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee but swears my Cube has more interior room for 'stuff'. Maybe not a perfect freeway commuter, but as a car with function and loads of personality it can't be beat. No issues, no problems only smiles when people drive by. The smiles continue after a year or so, the car has presented no problems....very happy with the Beach Buggy. And so it goes on...oil change..rotate tires..she ready to go surfing or biking or kayaking (you get the idea) with me. After a drive with me friends say Nissan still made the highly capable wagon. Love it!

Checked out a couple other makes of cars, saw the cube on the lot and was turned off by it's odd style. Came back to the dealer later, test drove it and FELL IN LOVE! Special ordered a 6 speed as my dealer only had CVT auto transmissions which I didn't want. I have since driven over 3000 miles and LOVE IT! Rides beautifully, comfortable (seats could use a little more support but livable). I have sound deadened the whole car and hence removed the whole interior, this car is a well compact car. Interesting design that everyone looks at twice. I would buy a cube again if I had it to do over!

A four wheel alignment can cost over $1000 if the rear is out of spec. Nissan Cube has a non adjustable rear axle and Nissan will Not warrant replacement if out of spec. Shims are Not approved. Rotating tires hides the factory problem and shortens tire life.

Sun Visors Dangerous

Sandra, 10/21/2010

Visors are too big, they come down to low, blocking most of driver's front windshield view. Have to push all the way back towards window and still it's hard to safely see out. Also they are not wide enough to help block sun through side window except for about 2" of very front area. Coming over Pacheco Pass with grand kids and we had sun directly through front window. Even my teenage grandson had a hard time maneuvering his visor. Plus trying to quickly adjust from front window to side was so dangerous, I almost wrecked into the guard rail a couple of times. I am very uncomfortable with these visors Now we have to find visors to buy that fit and do the job the right way. Anyone else agree?

I just got my new cube today! ABSOLUTELY in love. It's so fun, easy, comfortable, cutesy... all the good things you want in a car can be found in the CUBE. I admit at first, it looked a bit odd, but when I "discovered" all the different features that it comes with, my jaw dropped. It has a lot of features in such a small car. I'm 6 feet tall and I can fit in the front and back seat, comfortably. I love all the storage in the back and in the glove compartment. Plus, all the extra lighting is awesome. You don't expect much from it, but it surprises me as each minute passes.

Coming from a Sequoia AWD to a Cube was not a difficult decision - felt super roomy with the vertical design. With 1600 miles on Odometer (I do 9 miles local and 9 miles fwy), I am avg 31-33 mpg on the trip computer. Love the bluetooth, only need to press 1 button and the rest are voice recognized. Although it's slightly underpowered but the pick up is great from 0 to 45 mph, actually hardly any other cars pick up as fast as the Cube (just my experience on the road) - yes, a bit noise after 45 mph and on fwy do have wind noise. Suspension is above average for economy car - handles uneven paved road very well - very impressed. So far the best compact car ever owned! Go buy one!

Great gas mileage-drinks less gas than my former 1994 Honda Civic LX (I just put gas in at 250 miles-1/4 tank left). Driving in the wind is scary-it feels like the tires might give way and makes car swerve, badly. Great view of hood to map out lanes when driving. Bad thing that they don't have inside hooks to hang dry cleaning or other stuff. Less compartments (no compartments under seats).
