nice ride not so good economy
The ride is soft, does not vibrate, feels comfortable nice viewing in all directions, engine is reliable, not too powerful, needs some warming in the cold days. The economy is not as good as would like it, but while the gas is reasonably priced is not expensive, but is a worry for the time when gas price will jump. Had to replace rotors and calipers at 60 k mi, original parts from Nissan are expensive, you have to rely in oem manufaturers, the Nissan service is very expensive as well. Better look for alternatives once the warranty is over. The braking is not very good in the snow, the brake pads tend to block for some reason. Other than that the braking performs well if you tend to push it to the limit, is a heavy car.
Inspect thoroughly
I was looking for a car good on gas , low miles, nice sporty looking, found it at dealership for $12,999, thought I had hit the jackpot. Purchased in May and in July noticed a rattling noise , it was pulling when driving, was hard to tell when it changed gears. In Sept, the a/c started blowing hot air and on a 6 hr trip, the car started losing power, rpm was high, was making whining noise, was struggling to change gears. The car was still under warranty so took to the shop, had to replace A/C condenser unit , had to pay deductible, then had to get wrecker to pick up and take to another place because the transmission was stuck in 2nd gear .They had to put in another transmission and welded the pipe which was causing the rattling. Had to pay another deductible. A week later, car will not change gears and fluid is leaking like crazy, had to get another wrecker to take back to dealership found out there was a problem with seal . 2 weeks later, check engine light came on, problem with sensor, last week check engine light came back on, problem with computer. At this point I am beyond frustrated, I tried trading it in on something else, but right now am so upside down that I cant afford anything so am just stuck with it and looking for a way out. It is now June 2017 and I just got my car back out of the shop again to replace bad struts, had to get a loaner car while it was in the shop and had to pay another deductible. My warranty will run out soon and I can only imagine the expense I will incur after it has expired. I still owe $12k for this car and I just checked the Kelly blue book for the value of this car and it states trade in is about $5k. So I am still so upside its ridiculous and in order for me to trade this car in as a down payment on something else, I was told I would have to put at least $5-6k down. This has just been unreal and I wish there was some way I could go after the dealership for this headache. It is now 2019. In july I was able to pay off the balance on my loan for this car and received my clear title. A week later the check engine light came on and I noticed the car seemed to not change gears like it should I took it to my mechanic and he checked the code which had to do with the transmission. He flushed the transmission , changed the fluids . The car drove good for 2 days and the service engine light came on again and the car was struggling to change gears, the RPM went all the way in the red and I thought the car was going to blow up. I called the Nissan dealership and told them what was happening and was told to try to drive it in real slow (about 2 miles). I left the car and had to get a rental to get back home. The dealership called later that evening and told me the transmission was completely burned up and it they could replace for $4k with a 12 month warranty. I told them this would be the 3rd transmission in this car and I believed there was something wrong with their transmissions. They didn't believe there was a problem and told me they would appraise the car and they apprised it for $1k which was used towards the down payment for another car. At this point I was done, I was stuck without a car, and had no other options. So needless to say I am back on the hook for another car that I had to purchase , $18k. I couldn't make this up if I wanted to.It is now 2022, and I have gotten no resolution for this issue and probably never will.

A Family sedan car for REAL
We love our Altima, everybody drives it cause its give good MPG. I fillup and takes me everywhere, farther places and still last a week. I'm a truck guy so I use to seeing the fuel gauge needle move daily but on this Altima it takes awhile. When I dirve I average 28-30 mpg combine with 40 city and 60 hwy. The cabin is roomy specially the backseats. I never seen a roomy back seats car like the Altima. The trunk is massive can probably fit 2 full size adults with some space to spare. Love the suspension not noisy and handles very well. I can park easily and maneuver around corners, remember I'm a pickup truck guy so driving this car is mere child play.
Noisy CVT
I am regretting buying this car.The seats sold it for me and the car is beautiful, but on any accelerating the CVT whines and groans.
Nice until you have to repir it
Altimas are known for having high miles from us owners driving them soo much. Interior space is great you can have all shape and sizes inside with no real issues a big plus if you have kids with car seats. Since we got ours “certified preowned” low miles its always done a wierd vibration when running especially if the ac is on dealer says its nothing but my 2007 altima never did it. Since we have had it (11/2013) we have had to replace 2 racking pinions 2 mast flow air sensor which in that instance the dealer charged 500.00 when the part alone at autozone was like 100.00 if that but since it wasnt a “nissan” part of course they suggested to replace it in order to reset the cars computer so the check engine light would go out. Mind you we arent done paying it and it wouldnt even pass smog last year in order to change the plates. We have owned from Xterras to pathfinders to frontiers as well as a sentra we WERE die hard nissan until this one now we are AVOIDING nissan AT ALL COST!!!! -side note the darn car couldnt make it to vegas without loosing power 2 years ago coming from Southern California imagine that seeing a beat up bucket just passing you buy as your semi new altima can even make it up the hill-the drive was only 3 hrs which turned into 5!!!
