I'm not a youngster but I prefer a sporty and powerful car rather than a big "senior citizen boat". Just bought the 3.5 SE and it seems to fit the bill. From the quality of construction, handling, looks and at least to me, attention to detail speaks volumes about this car and manufacturer. Especially impressed with the safety features built into it.

I have been a Camry driver for quite some time, and was actually on the way to purchase a 2007 model but decided to stop by my local Nissan dealership to test out the 2007 Altima. Needless to say I ended up purchasing one, a 2.5 S 4 cyl CVT. Exterior is smooth and contour, definitely has a more sporty look than a Camry or Accord. The front grille looks a lot like the Maxima. Interior room is great, offering plenty of room in the front and back. Nice layout inside, very neat and clean, and high quality. Handling is great too, and I have not had any problems with it. It feels light and nimble, and it has a good power even with just the 175hp that comes with the 4 cyl. CVT build.

Dealer Employee Review

I've been a Nissan dealership employee since 1992. My last car was an 03 Altima and I was happy with it... until I saw a white 07 in our showroom. I took one for a spin around the block and I knew right then I was going to own one. As the one responsible for processing warranty claims, I look at cars from a different perspective - not from what I like, but what can easily go wrong and how much it will cost to maintain. I can honestly tell you, Nissan put a lot of time and effort into this one to get it right. This one is a winner! It's hard to believe the Maxima is the flagship of the Nissan line when they released this beauty. Maxima will be redesigned for 08 but this is top for me!

I've put nearly 1,000 miles on my '07 Nissan Altima 2.5 S w/ CVT Transmission. I really love this car. This is my first new car purchase and I am beyond satisfied. I test drove just about everything and nothing compared for the price. The exterior has a really clean look. I really like the blond cloth interior with the wood grain, and it is really soft comfortable cloth. Mechanically very sound. Virtually no road or engine noise. Just made a 400 miles trip and it was extremely comfortable. I also liked the accord, but the altima looked better, performed better and was the best bang for the buck. I think Toyota cut some corners on the '07 Camry. Good college grad program.

175,000 miles later, this car saved my life

I bought my 2007 Nissan Altima with every last penny I had only a few months after it came out. I was 18 and saw it as an investment. Up until the 10/16/15, I never had a thing go wrong. I changed the oil every 3,000-4,000 miles, two tire changes, and two brake jobs and she ran like a beaut. At 11:00am the night before sweetest day, I was driving home after a hockey draft and fell asleep. I was running on 7 hours of sleep in the last 36 hours and couldn't defeat the sandman once again. I swerved off the road and hit a ditch straight on going 60 mph and no signs of braking. I woke up with the air bag in my face and reality hitting a little bit harder than the air bag. I gathered my thoughts and began to realize that I'm 100% ok. Nissan saved my life. This Altima saved my life. Although it will take a long time to move on, I will never forget all of the 175,000 miles together. Thank you Nissan. My next vehicle will surely be another great model of yours.

Big, powerful, looks great; nav. is junk

15 of 16 people found this review helpful

This is my 3rd Altima and by far the best. Crashed my old one in part due to lack of VDC, so it was a must for me. Nissan offers it only on 3.5, and if you can't stand rear spoilers, a loaded 3.5SL is the only option. The car looks great and feels very powerful, all that 3.5-l torque is made instantly available by the very responsive CVT. Lots of front legroom; the interior feels plush. Don't care about push-button ignition, but unlocking doors/trunk by buttons on handles is nice. Nav system is a remarkably useless eye-candy though: street/highway names are missing from the map just when you need them; menus are extremely non-intuitive. NavTraffic is just a toy, doesn't have enough detail.

I bought this car 2 days ago so take it for what its worth but I've been an altima owner for over 7 years now. I just traded my '00 Altima SE for this '07 Altima 2.5 S with the SL package. I really liked my first Altima but all I can say now is WOW!. What a difference. If the '00 Altima was the epitome of playing it safe, dependable, all around family sedan then the '07 is all those things but on super steroids. This car is awesome. I wanted something safe and that had seating for 2 adults and 3 children comfortably for those family times but that also had the get up and go and sporty look so as to be fun to drive. This Altima does it all and does it well. I couldn't be more satisfied

I bought this car used in 2010 it had 32000 miles on it. The thing that blew me away was that you can coast in 4th gear at 5 mph. Anyone who drives a manual knows that sounds impossible. Somehow The engineers at Nissan figured out that stop and go traffic is made more annoying when you drive a manual. So this transmissions helps with the commute. on to the car. I was shopping for a bmw recently and test drove a 330 with performance package Right after the test drove I hopped in my Nissan and pushed the envelope a bit. This Nissan really performs. I cant say enough. If you can find one of these with the manual test drive it you wont regret it

This is my first Nissan, and although I've only had it a few days, I'm very pleased with the car. Mine is a base 3.5 SE, cloth seats, and a CVT transmission. Although not equipped with any upgrade packages or options (no, not a single one), I still find it nicely equipped. The engine is strong and responsive. The CVT is very smooth, and seems to be well-tuned to different driving conditions and needs. The Intelligent Key and pushbutton start are quite convenient, as well as a great topic of conversation. The interior seems to be put together nicely, and the controls intuitive. The basic radio/CD player may not be premium, but it sounds great to me.

After test driving the Mazda, Accord and Camry; a friend suggested we test drive the Maxima. We did not as not in our price range but drove the Altima instead and purchased the same evening. We were impressed with the sporty drive without the sporty price. The displays are easy on the eyes and controls easy to use. Love the intelligent key and the roomy interior was a pleasant surprise. Highly recommend anyone to take for a test drive.

The 2007 Altima is a considerable improvement over the 06. Intelligent Key, Push button start, Front side and curtain airbags standard. It has all the right equipment. The car is plenty powerful, and gets decent mileage. But... The center console and cup holder materials do not match the quality as the rest of the car. Also I would have liked to see trunk hindges like the Maxima on the Altima. Styling is great and the price is right!

I purchased my 3.5 Altima SE in mid November 2006. So far, I have to say that it has exceeded my expectations in nearly every aspect. The ride is incredibly smooth yet sporty. Also, there's a reason this 3.5 liter has been on the "10 Best" list for years now. I test drove the G6, Camry, and Accord before making my decision. All are fine cars, but the Altima is the total package!

I have owned this car for 9 years. I bought it new and kept it garaged in the winter. The only troubles I have had with this car are: Hood liner crumbled, Bose stereo acts up on occasion. This car has never failed to start or stop. Maintenance has been tires, oil and inspections. The car rides very comfortably. The interior is stylish with easliy reached controls. The seats are NOT comfortable on long road trips. The side bolsters dig into my thighs. It seats 5 people comfortably. It has a very spacious trunk with the seats folding down at 60/40. I have recommended this car model to others many times over the years.

I have only had the car a week so the reliability rating is a guess. I have owned two Nissans before both Sentras. One was a GXE and my latest was a Spec V. I never had a problem with either Nissan. The Altima is fun to drive and has more cool features then I know what to do with. Gas mileage is good for it's performance (0-60 in 5.9). Also considering the price I think you can't compete with it. I was thinking about a Infiniti G35, but for about $7000 less I got just about as much car (I know they are both technically Nissans). The Camry and Accord are just to plain and not even close to being as "sporty" as the Altima. I would recommend the Altima as a mid- range sedan for the $$.

We bought this car in 2008 with 17K miles on it and have been driving the heck out of it ever since. It now has 112K miles on it and so far all I've had to replace was the brakes on it. Got aftermarket ceramic brakes with nicer discs. MPGs are great. I currently avg 29.7mpgs driving conservatively but the 4 cyl respond quite nice when you need to pass. The paint on the roof and hood is starting to fade and it sucks since re-painting is not cheap but I also don't keep it in the garage. The Alternator might be iffy. Just replaced a batter and the brake and battery lights on the dash are flickering. Hopefully nothing too bad. Overall it has been the most reliable car I've ever owned!

i have the 2.5 S with sl, tech, and abs pack. wanted an 07 g, but pmt made the budget too tight. this is a very solid compromise. interior materials are better than in past versions. though they kept the body style similar, there are a lot of little changes that make this a great looking vehicle. all my ratings were based on the features of the car...ie it's a 4 cylinder, but as far as four bangers go, excellent performance...and so on. i haven't broke it in yet, so gas mileage should improve. reliability has been constantly improved every year on this line, and based on the materials used inside, i think it will improve again this year. if not, i'm only in a 2-year lease, so no harm no foul.

I sold my 2001 Maxima for this car. The 2007 Altima SE V6 6-spd manual is an incredible sport sedan. It's slightly bigger than my '01 Maxima, has 50+ more horsepower than the '01 Maxima, was thousands cheaper, and gets better mileage. It's basically the fastest front wheel drive car you can buy. There are two exceptions... the Mazdaspeed 3 and the Acura TL Type S. The Mazda 3 is almost the same price and is smaller than a Civic. The Acura TL Spec B is a 38k machine and is only 0.1sec fast in the 0-60. The 6speed manual is taken right from the 350Z and is a dream. Motor Trend specs the 0-60 in 5.9 seconds... in a front wheel drive car! I get ~24mpg average and ~27-28 highway.

I usually don't purchase new cars. I went into the dealership thinking to buy the Sentra until I saw and drove the 07 Altima. The car is like Woo! The sound system is awesome and it rides so smooth. I've recently been promoted to a new position that will require a lot a road travel. I am so looking forward to traveling between sites. The metallic Jade w/ blond interior is beautiful. Be careful, you can never tell the speed you're going, watch the speedometer. You can easily be at 100 mph and don't know until you zoom pass another car going 80.

I purchased the SL with the XM convenience package. This car offers an amazing array of features for $25,000--heated leather seats, sunroof, push-button start, cd changer, built-in bluetooth, dual climate control, etc., etc. The CVT is incredibly smooth and the power (including passing power) from the 4 cyl engine is nothing short of amazing. This car evokes images of an much higher priced Infiniti or other luxury sedan. Could not be happier.

I bought my 2007 Altima almost 2 yrs ago. At the time it had over 200k miles on it mostly highway from the previous owner who owned and operated a professional mechanic shop. His wife was the sole owner of the car and her commutes where via highway 80 miles per day. I am in construction therefore I did not want to spend a lot of money considering it would be on the sites a lot. The price I got it for was a steal and I paid cash because I don't like car payments. The cost of ownership has being minimal. I have the the SL Sanoma Sunset and tan leather interior. Overall it has been a perfect car even with the high mileage. The car always starts and runs well. The ride is smooth and in control. I do regular oil changes and fluids. I use a full synthetic oil. I highly recommend this car for ad ails driver. It does not disappoint. I am bummed because someone hit the back end of it and the cost of repair is not cheap. I am at 233k on it and my hopes are that I still have a good 60k or more before I need to replace it. It still drives well like a new car. My nephew wants to buy it from me because it rides well. I will more than likely buy a newer Altima or the Maxima. My family members all own Nissans and we all like them for the value, performance and style. I also own a 2009 Murano which is a great vehicle too. :-)

This is a great car. It is very close to Honda/Toyota levels of fit and finish. My 3.5SE has the Sport Package and an auto dimming mirror. The interior is nicely styled and the instrument cluster is very bright and easy to read with good radio and HVAC controls. The seats are well shaped though they are a little hard and don't offer a lumber adjustment. The ride and handling compromise is great; it handles very well without punishing you when you hit a bump. Overall, reliability should be on par with Honda/Toyota. This is a great contender in the midsize category. I highly recommend this car if you don't want to overspend on a Toyota or Honda; their dealers who don't ever offer deals.

Bought my '07 Altima (loaded) used w/38k miles in Dec '11. Started off on the wrong foot - had to replace battery (dealer covered) and front brakes (dealer didn't cover) in the first 10 days. Brakes weren't worn out, but had a pulsing feel under braking the tech wrote off as "slightly hazed rotors". I replaced them with high quality aftermarket rotors & pads, and they have been perfect in the 13k miles since. Since then, the car has been great, no other problems, just regular maint. I love the handling & power of this car, and the sound of the Bose system is the best I've ever heard from a factory unit. The seats could be a little more supportive, but for a sedan they're not too bad.

The Altima is a great car. Very reliable with minimal maintenance. Very quiet inside and no noise engine. The CVT is great...gives the vehicle excellent acceleration and no noise. Very stylish and extremely safe. Our entire family (including baby and young child) were in a severe car accident that totaled the car, and we all walked away without injury. The outside of the car was crushed on three corners yet the inside was in perfect condition. Great car for the family as it's roomy enough for baby seat, booster seat, and another child in the back.

Bought an Acura IXL to replace Altima. Too small, too slow. 2007 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 6M) I have put 233,000 miles on this gem, and now we've come to the end of our road. Compared to other cars I've owned (3 Volvos, 1 '68 Mustang), this one has been a favorite. My kids say "no more manuals," and I am having a hard time letting go. That is because I cannot find anything in my price range that will be as much fun to drive. The car has been very reliable, and I have had few terribly expensive repairs. I shall miss it!

Bought a new nissan altima 2.5SL, got a very good deal on the price since i bought when the 2008 model was already in the market. exterior styling and features are very good. interior is very comfortable for 4 people. for 5 people it is good on short trips. rear middle set is really hard. trunk space is very good. can easily fit it two full size check-in bags and small cabin bag. handling is very good at normal highway speeds. takes the curves good, i've done 40mph at 65mph just adjusting the gears. acceleration is good with two people. even though i hear many people complaining about the CVT, don't feel it is bad for a family sedan. suspension is very good and gives a smooth ride.

Hoping for the best - Beware of catalytic converter

I bought a 2007 Altima 2.5S 4-cyl from a private seller in July 2011. It had 117,000 miles on it, mostly highway. The car was in great condition and I even had it inspected at a shop before buying it. About five days after driving it, the check engine light came on. I thought there couldn't possibly be something wrong with it already, so I manually turned the light off and waited...two weeks later, it was on again. The catalytic converter was the problem and I had it cleaned out, but was told that it still may need to be replaced. Everything was fine for about 3 months, but the CE light just came on again at 121,000 miles. I don't want the engine to get ruined, so I'll have to fix it asap.

I purchased this car in March 2011. My previous car was a 2006 Toyota Corolla S. It was a great reliable car, but I needed a bigger car with more legroom (I'm over 6ft.). It has a spacious interior & a comfortable steady ride & sporty handling. The interior is quiet & the 2.5L 4-cylinder engine is surprisingly powerful & has excellent passing power. It feels like a V6 & is also as quick as some V6's. I've been averaging 22.5 mpg, not as high as they say because I do more spirited driving & like to feel the great power of the 4 cylinder. I bought this car for its sportiness & roomy interior & I recommend this car for those of you that need a sedan, but still want that sporty handling.

After driving a Dodge Neon, I'm enjoying the roominess of the Nissan Altima. It gives a smooth ride and has the looks of a luxury car. Best car purchase I've made to date!

I looked at EVERYTHING from Corolla to LS. This is easily the best value on the market. It has good handling, great interior room, all the gadgets, and it looks good (when you add some decent aftermarket wheels). If the long term reliability is good, then this will be a real benchmark.

Bought an 07 Altima and within a week it died at the grocery store. The starter was clicking so I figured it must be the battery. This car has only 109k miles and all the service records. Got a new battery and began driving it the 2 miles to my mechanic to have it checked and it lost power. Wouldn’t go at all unless I turned it off and back on then it would go a block or so. Now it has a new alternator and again, drove it about a mile from brakes plus and it lost power again. I am told by Nissan that the 07 has an issue with the transmission and this part (RE0F10A CVT Automatic Transmission Valve Body) needs to be replaced, but it isn’t a recall of course. So now I have $2100 into this POS and still don’t know if this part will fix the problem.

I bought this car used with 60 k miles on it. At about 100k it started making a rattling noise. No one could figure out what it was. Check engine light would stay on constantly. Nothing would fix the problems. At about 120k the whole transmission went out and the catalytic converter. The paint is also completely gone from the top of the car. It's just silver. The inside interior is also cracked to pieces in the dash and falling off. I have kept regular maintenance on the car oil change and tires. The car has literally fallen apart.

...my 07 Altima (SE V6 w/ 6spd manual) is still going strong. We bought this car new in August 2007. We just replaced the original brake rotors. Replaced clutch two years ago. Otherwise no other major repairs or work other than normal maintenance (which we do ourselves). Love my car. It hauls some booty when needed and has nice tight steering. On the highway I can get almost 500 miles per tank. My only disappointments are visibility and seat comfort. The A-pillar and size of the side mirrors create an annoying blind spot. I so wish the seats were more comfortable and there was a lumbar support. I previously owned a 2000 Altima and a 1986 200SX.

My Altima was a previous rental with 17,000 miles on it. I loved it until recently. There has been a problem with the transmission, I have already had it replaced twice in less than 14 months! Also the stereo has had to be replaced due to buttons not functioning and the lights flickering on the screen and not the new one is starting to do the same thing :( Thankfully it was all covered under warranty. I will most likely sell the car before the warranty expires so that I will not have to fund these expenses next year when the transmission needs to be replaced AGAIN.

This car provides an excellent blend of sport and luxury with a large helping of driving enjoyment. Great style inside and out and lots of space for people and cargo. They really nailed it. The only thing that might be a disappointment is if you really like the hunt-and-peck front end squirminess called torque steer. It is no longer available, even as an option.

HOPE 2010 ALTIMA IS BETTER

2007 Altima 2.5SL, 6 CD Boss System, 53200 miles on it - I get 26.3 miles per gallon combine city and highway, not quite 32 as they claim. The road noise if terrible, it seems Nissan decided to build the door panels, and entire car with as little or no sound insulation, very cheap. The seats are very uncomfortable on long drives 30 min. drive. I hope they have improved these areas and other areas consumers have complained on since the redesign in 07. Otherwise, what is the point of reviewing this vehicle. Nissan invest some quality material on making a good product and don't rip people off with cheap products that are not worth more then 24K, even at 24K the Nissan Altima is not worth it.

My Altima is falling apart

My car has been fine until the warranty expired now the car is falling apart and Nissan does not want to stand behind their vehicles. I had the electronic door locks replaced at 20K. The issue start happening after the warranty is up and now Nissan refuses to fix it. In addition my windows don't roll down anymore and the Nissan dealership wants $700 to fix. They made this car too complicated and I don't trust the reliability. I am selling it and buying something else. This was my second Nissan and most likely my last.

I purchased a 2007 Toyota Camry and once I saw and drove the 2007 Nissan Altima I traded in the Camry. I got way more for my money, sporty/elegant look, and not too mention the service I received from Nissan. Toyota dealers act like we owe them something... I feel, no I know I've made the right decision.... Perfect Car for anyone.

I purchased my 2007 3.5 V6 CVT SL with 40K & I love it. This car was loaded w/lther, Bose, turn signals on the ext mirrors, b/u camera, Nav, XM Sat, 6 disc chngr, sunroof, bluetooth phone etc. I chose this over an 06 Acura TL. Yes, its true. I went shopping to replace my much loved 03 TL Type-S. I just could not rationalize spending 2K more & get less. This car has 270hp & rides smooooth. Its black on black. The Bose is fantastic. If you can buy an Altima that is loaded, you won't find a better value, how do they sell Maxima's next to this...? By the way I would not have bought the 4 cyl version, only 170 hp.

i drove the 2007 camry, accord, civic and altima 2.5 S. the camry wasn't as comfortable as my sister's 2003 Camry and was weak on performance. the civic and accord were not that great for the price. for all the options you get and the performance, the altima was the best buy for me. the altima has more hp, really good fuel mileage for its class, it's extremely comfortable and has a smooth-silent ride. i've driven it over 50 miles and i love it. I purchased the convenience plus package with some other random upgrades and i received a remarkable deal. i really recommend the '07 2.5 S altima.
