nice car
This was a nice dependable car. The cost was minimal, and the ride was great. No problems whatsoever.
A Pleasure to Drive
I bought it at 73000 miles, and am pleased with its performance and ride quality.

Absolutely worry free
I have not had a single problem with this car and it now has 95,000 miles. No rattles, shakes, overheating, etc. Interior has held up better than any car I have had. For the type of car it is it couldn't be better.
One of the best cars ever made!
I have to say this is one of the best cars ever made, because i have had no problems what so ever. I fell in love the moment i lay my eye's on this car. This car has everything you could ask for and the engine is great.
Nissan Altima - Worth Considering
Overall I have had a good experience with this car. No major problems. I would recommend this car for someone in the market for a used car.
Best darn car for the money!!
I purchased this used Nissan from my local Nissan dealer with 17,000 miles on it.The 1999 Altima now has 116,000 miles and I have replaced the front brakes twice, replaced a battery, and replaced the tires 3 times. This car has required NO OTHER REPAIRS. Change the oil and oil filter every 3,000 miles and enjoy. This is the fourth Nissan I have owned since 1991. It is the best car for the money!
Excellent Nissan car!
This is my wife's car but I drove it maybe 5000 miles and all I can say is that is very reliable, never had any major problems (bought it new), great performance overall. Gas mileage is one of the best, good power, handling, comfort, good resale value. I highly recommend it to everyone.
Hidden/Sleeping Racer
I agree with the comment about a sleeping racer. This car is the best I have owned yet. No Problems, Fast. I too am up to about 190hp, and that wa with very very few mods. I can easier hit 70 in 3 gear and only tapping on 3000rpms door. killer car. braight shiny red, you never see it coming till its to late.
better than average, great reliablity
Not the fanciest or prettiest but a car that gives you 0 problems and is easy to drive.
super car
i bought this car two years ago and i have put some long work days in this car. i put on about 30000 a year on this car all i have done to it is change oil and tires I have 81000 miles on it with out any problems.
Best car for the price!
You will no go wrong with this model Nissan Altima. It's very economical and at the same time very comfortable and powerful with 2.4 Liter engine. I very highly recommend this car to anyone.
Buy used not new
First Nissan Ive owned out of twenty- three cars.I do not think I will trade this one in, but will keep it. Have not been disapointed, it came equipped as I wanted it for the most part. As a SE Limited it should have had leather and remote trunk unlock should have been put on the remote. Other that this NO complaints.Looked at 3.5 2004, who knows, I might have two.
Problem Free
I bought the car new in 1999. Drive 100 miles a day to work and back. Absolutely no problems at all. Cruises nicely at expressway speed (or slightly higher.) Comfortable ride that seems to get better as you add more passengers. At 6-4, I'm definitely at the upper limit of who the cars was designed for. Engine has been great! With 112,000 mi, I've replaced the front brakes once, the tires once, the serpentine belt, and a $.99 hose clamp. Not bad. Interior is the epitome of conservative, which is nice because I haven't gotten sick of looking at it.
great car!
great all around car, i'll probably buy another altima when i am ready to purchase another car.
Greatest Car I've owned!
This car is reliable, comfortable and and overall joy to drive. I've had the car for 3 years, purchased it used with 39,000 miles and have never encountered a mechanical problem. I would recommend this car to anyone!
A good car
I like my car a lot. It's fast enough, though I won't be winning many races. A very nice looking car on the outside, and average looking on the inside. I drove a 2002 Camry mostly though high school, and the Altima can't campete with it's roomy interior with leather. Of course the Camry has been around much longer, and is more equal to the Maxima. So if you need something bigger and better than a Sentra and you can't/won't get a Maxima, then the Altima is a very good choice.
just dependable baby
I bought my altima new in july 99 at a great price of 14500. It just runs good. I have replaced tires, front brake pads, and recently driver's power window switch..I just moved from CA to minnesota..it did great in sub zero temps.. hope to drive my baby for a long time to come..wish I would have bought it with 5 speed manual..though the automatic is great
Great car
Bought it from an owner that didn't know anything about cars. Had a maintenance done at the dealer and the car is problem free.
this car works good
this car has power to move fast. i have only had to maintain the oil and lube service .
Reliability, reliability, reliability
I have had this car almost 4 yrs. Never thought I would own a foreign built car. Most reliable car I have ever had, very dependable. Hope to have it for another 4 or 5 yrs. I have only had to replace tires and brakes. Love the car, love the ride, love everything about the car.
Thanks Dad
My father gave me his 1999 Nissan Altima GXE a few days ago. It has 57650 miles on it and he has not had one problem with it. My mother owned a 1998 and I drove that all the time and i loved it. This car runs and drive GREAT! The 4 cylinder motor feels like a V6 with awesome power when you need it. The gas mileage is super as well. Thanks Dad I know I will have this car another 150,000 miles. Thanks Nissan
Excellent car - great quality
I bought my 1999 Nissan Altima SE brand new in 1998. It is now over 6 years later and I have never had any problems with this car. It is incredibly well engineered and very well built. It zips around quite nimbly around the city and drives very solid on the highway. In the 6 years I have owned it I've replaced the brake pads and tires once each. Oh and a turn signal burned out at one point. When I got married we had to choose 1 car since we live in the city and only own 1 parking space - we sold her Audi A4 and kept the Altima since we knew we would have much fewer problems with Altima. Great job Nissan. This car is so good we're now buying another Nissan.
Why buy a used Civic for more $???
I think Nissan is definitely underrated on quite a few vehicles, this being one of them. I just bought a pearl white 99 SE-L 5 speed. Hondas do not possess the level of solidity that this car has. Wow, the transmission is geared high! I can't fairly rate the gas mileage but for a 2950 lb vehicle, how can 30mpg be bad. Very good midrange power. I'd also love to find a 91-94 low mileage Sentra SE-R, another favorite.
Fun while it lasted
My 1999 Nissan Altima was a very nice car. Ii had some work done to it, like a full ground effects kit, a cold air intake, and some subs and new speakers, beside the tranny giving out on me at 55,000 miles and battery dying at 62,000 miles it was a fun, reliable car to drive. It had the power to smoke Honda Civics and Acoords and a lot of other 4 door middle grade sedns. It was a safe car as well, I totaled it after hiting a guardrail doing 75 mph and it kept togther very well. It was definitely repairable, but my insurance company just totaled it because it experienced some frame damage. I reccommend this car to any one who wants a car they can trust and have fun with at the same time.
my baby
die hard toyota fan...wanted a camry, too much money! I love my altima. there is nothing i would change about my car. great ride comfortable, stylish, great gas milage, and very dependable. looking forward to the next five years! MAYBE MORE
Cars the way they should be
After reading the reviews of others I thought I should add my two cents. I currently have 183,000 miles on my Nissan Altima and planning to go at least another until 250,000 before giving it to my niece. The car has been trouble free just change the oil and brakes along with tires and keep driving it. Wanted to put this out to other folks with less miles so they know their cars still have a long way to go, keep on trucking. Don
Perfect Used Car
After alot of research for my next car I decided on the Altima. I have no regrets at all. I purchased the car with 79,000 miles and now have 90,000 miles on it and have only 3 things gone wrong on the car other than brakes and oil changes. The first thing that went were my CV boots and second my throttle linkage snapped which controls the acceleration of the car. Basically, when it snapped my gas pedal did nothing and left me stranded. My mechanic told me in his 25 years of working he had never seen that happen on a car. Lastly, the alternator had to replaced but other than that the car has been perfect and I highly reccommend this car. I added a K&N filter and it makes such a difference.
great car, too bad has been redisigned
I got my 99 GXE altima in 2002 with 32000 on it. Changed tires and brakes right after that. aside from regular oil changes there are no cost of use. Great car overall. it now has 70,000 miles and I haven't changed a thing. Just put some snow tires on it for these MA winters. It drives great during summer and handels the winter(especially now) like a 4wd car. recommanded to anyone
I love this car!
I have driven this car to Houston Texas 2 times and gone to Florida 3 times, and i went to South Carolina 2 times. each time pulling a U-Haul trailer "the small one of course"
Very Dependable
Hands down the best car I have ever owned. I bought the Nissan new and now have over 160,000 miles on it, no major repairs at all, just change the oil and tuned it up twice. Brakes once at 90K, I get the dealer breaks which are much better quality. I gave this car to my son to drive, and I am sure he will get another 100k out of it.
98K and still going
Another former Honda diehard and I wouldn't trade my Altima for anything except maybe a newer one with less wind noise.
Great all-around car
I was looking to buy a 2003 Honda Accord/Toyota Camry, when I saw this car at a local dealership, gave it a spin, and ended up buying it. It's in great condition, paint is still beautiful. My gas mileage hasn't been phenominal, I do a lot of highway driving and expected around 33-34 mpg, but rarely break 30-31. Performance is ok. Road/wind noise is good, but not as quiet as the newer Accords/Camrys. Ride is also good, but again not as damped as newer competing vehicles. If the reliability is as good as the Edmunds ratings claim, I'll be very happy with it for the next few years.
Great Car
I bought mine with 50,000 miles on it. It is now turning 200,000 miles on it. I had to put in a rebuilt trans at 178,000 miles and new tie rods at 180,000. As far as things need to be done it seems that it doe's not start till after 112,000 miles. At least every 10,000 miles added to the car is when things need to be done, I mean things that should get done i.e. shocks, starter, front-end. My mechanic said it will last another 100,000 as long as I do my oil changes and small routine maintenance. Funny thing is when I first bought the car I was getting 27 to the highway now I am getting 31 hwy and 26 to the city. Go figure.
Wish I had my car back
My car was recently totaled in a collision. I miss it already. It's a great car that protected me from serious injury. I would recommend this car to anyone who drives in heavy traffic--gas mileage, responsiveness, reliability and safety are all excellent. In 76K miles, replaced brake pads once, tires once, battery once. What a great car!!! I only wish now I had my car back. I miss it already.
Second Car and Used But Great
I am a college student and this is my second car and I love it. I have had it for about a year and I have had no problems with this car. I drive it back and forth to college and home about 2000 mile round trip. All I have to do to the car is get the oil changed and replace the tires and she runs perfectly.
Saved My Life
I've owned this car since purchased and loved it. A few minor improvements to the model would have been nice but overall an excellent car. I rolled it down a hill last week and totalled it. I crawled out virtually unscathed. A few bruises but nothing major. The safety features in this car saved my life.
My best car ever...
I have 112,000 miles on this car I bought new. Front brakes made it safely to 75,000 backs to 100,000 OE clutch made it to 110,000 as well as the battery and alternator. That I blame on my 1000 watt aftermarket stereo. I did have to replace the power window unit at 96000. I'm scared to trade it because of how reliable it has been. It can even do light off roading when needed. It's not a truck so it does require some caution but it handles it well. Wish the new ones were closer to the same! We have an 06 too. It's really nice but not quite the same.
Thumbs Up for the Altima
My Altima has been an excellent car. My next car will be a Maxima. I have only had a couple of minor problems with the car and the warranty offered excellent no-hassle coverage. I am in sales and drive a lot. It has been a great car for the road.
Great car
Great car never had a problem with it would buy another one in a couple of years. Highly recomended.....
99 Altima GXE
Purchased car 1 year ago today. 1. Have had no mechanical problems despite unusually rough winter. 2. Maintnance limited to scheduled, minimal cost and time requirements. 3. Strong engine with great pick-up for 4 cylinder. 4. 25mpg on mixed tank, 32 on expressway
