The 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe gets luxury right, with a calm and comfortable cabin, impeccable materials and construction, and all of the latest technology features. A slight hesitation with initial acceleration is one of our few complaints, though even that is easy to get used to.Read full review
The 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE is a midsize luxury SUV that finds that elusive Goldilocks zone among its stablemates. It's larger and more inviting than the compact GLC and more maneuverable and agile than the larger GLS. The GLE Coupe can be thought of as the standard GLE's slightly more athletic fraternal twin. Its rear roofline slopes downward for a sleeker silhouette and it dispenses with the boxier GLE's more efficient powertrains, losing some versatility and utility in the process.

Good
6.7
out of 10
We drove the 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe on our test track and on real roads. Our Edmunds team conducts rigorous independent vehicle testing, driving 500,000 miles a year.
Driving experience
6.8/10
How does the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe drive? The GLE Coupe generally delivers the driving experience we expect from a luxury SUV. It's smooth, quiet and clearly tuned for comfort. Both drivers and passengers will appreciate the composed ride over bumps. The braking is another highlight, offering solid stopping power for emergencies plus smooth and consistent stops around town.
We did take issue with the GLE Coupe's throttle, however. Press down lightly on the gas pedal, and nothing happens — it's like there’s a dead zone at the top of the pedal. Push harder, and the GLE Coupe suddenly leaps forward, making it tricky to start moving smoothly. Once you're rolling, though, there's no shortage of power. At the Edmunds test track, our GLE 450 test vehicle accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds, which is plenty quick. And if you crave more speed, the AMG GLE 63 S version rockets to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. But both versions stumble when accelerating from a standstill, which dampens the experience.
On the bright side, the GLE's driver aids are excellent. They are helpful in everyday driving and operate unobtrusively. The coupe's visibility isn't great due to its wide roof pillars and sleek design, but the surround-view camera system makes parking and tight maneuvers much easier.
Comfort
7.2/10
View interior photos
How comfortable is the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe? The front seats are more like thrones. They are cushy and supportive to keep you very comfortable on long drives. Both rows feature more room than the shape of the GLE Coupe would suggest; headroom isn't really impacted by the coupe's sleek roofline. You might have to duck slightly to get into the back seat, but not so much that it feels unwieldy. The front seats in our test vehicle had heating, cooling and more adjustments than we'd ever need.
The GLE Coupe's controls are a mixed bag. There are lots of physical controls, including well-finished metal buttons for many of the climate controls and the seats. The touchpad is also pretty easy to use thanks to a padded spot to put your wrist while using it. But the touch-sensitive steering wheel controls are too easily activated and complicated to use. In our testing, we ended up trying not to use them if we could.
Child safety seats are easy to install thanks to easy-to-locate lower LATCH anchors that come with covers. Even a rear-facing car seat should fit in without much trouble, with the front passenger only having to move slightly forward.
In-cabin tech
9.7/10
How’s the tech? Mercedes' MBUX infotainment system is easy to use and robust to the point that you can alter just about every car setting through it. Wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration is standard, and both take up a large portion of the screen when activated.
Charging options abound, with a wireless charging pad up front and multiple USB-C charging ports spread throughout the cabin. Another neat feature is the navigation system's optional augmented reality feature that overlays street names and arrows atop a live front-view video when making turns.
Storage & cargo
7.5/10
How’s storage and cargo? The GLE Coupe's cabin is well designed. Cubbies and compartments abound for stashing drinks and items. The cargo area is large and flat with no wheel well intrusion, but the coupe-like roofline means there's far less cargo space in the back than there is in the regularly shaped GLE. The regular GLE offers 33 cubic feet of free air to work with, while the coupe has just 27.5 cubic feet.
The GLE Coupe will also work out well if you plan to tow a trailer. Properly equipped, it's rated to tow up to 7,700 pounds, which is enough to handle most small or midsize trailers.
Value
6/10
Is the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe a good value? You'd hope that the GLE Coupe has an impeccable build quality and luxurious trappings considering how much it costs. Its high initial cost is compounded by an options list that causes the price to jump even more. Our test vehicle had nearly $20,000 of options, and we considered most of them worthwhile.
Mercedes offers a four-year/50,000-mile warranty with basic, powertrain and rust coverage. There are also four years/50,000 miles of roadside assistance, but sadly Mercedes doesn't include any complimentary maintenance.
MPG
3/10
How’s the fuel economy? The EPA estimates the GLE 450 Coupe will get 21 mpg in combined driving, which is about average for a midsize luxury SUV but not great in terms of fuel economy across the board. In our time with the vehicle, we noticed a similar figure in daily driving. Getting the EPA's estimate seems achievable without any leadfootedness. The AMG models are much less efficient, with the AMG GLE 63 S Coupe dropping down to 16 mpg combined.
X factor
5/10
The GLE Coupe's bold and distinctive shape makes it a standout among luxury SUVs. Its swooping design is bound to spark strong opinions — some will adore its sleekness, while others might not be as charmed. Love it or hate it, the design certainly gets noticed. Inside, the GLE Coupe offers a luxurious cabin that holds its own against any competitor. Every detail feels thoughtfully crafted to impress.

Buying Tips for the 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe for October
GLE Coupe shoppers have a real opening here: buyers are paying about $5,400 below MSRP on average, and the remaining new inventory is taking a long 102 days to sell.
You can save around $5,400 off sticker on a 2026 GLE Coupe, and there are no general customer rebates to stack on top. That discount is fairly consistent across trims, though the GLE 450 4MATIC is the best value at about 6.0% off MSRP.
There are about 1,560 new vehicles nationwide, so supply is healthy but not overflowing. The AMG GLE 53 is the easiest trim to find with roughly 630 units, while the AMG GLE 63 S is much tighter at about 150.
New GLE Coupes are sitting much longer than the market average. The median days to turn for new vehicles is 102 days versus 29 days overall, which usually gives you more room to press for a discount on in-stock units.
If you’re financing, Mercedes is offering a promotional rate as low as 5.99% for 48 or 60 months for qualified buyers. If you’re leasing, expect around $1,300 a month with about $7,100 due at signing.

2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe trim level differences
The 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe is a midsize four-door SUV with seating for five. It's based on the standard GLE but has a sharper rear roofline for a sleeker silhouette. The GLE Coupe is available in three trim levels: 450 4Matic Coupe, AMG GLE 53 Coupe and AMG GLE 63 S Coupe. Compare the 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe trim levels in-depth.
Which GLE Coupe trim does Edmunds recommend?
The entry-level GLE 450 4Matic Coupe will easily satisfy the vast majority of drivers. After all, there's only so much performance to extract from a midsize SUV. We also suggest adding the Pinnacle trim to gain some premium features, as well as the Driver Assistance package for its adaptive cruise control and multiple safety enhancements.
Competitors to consider
The BMW X6 pretty much started the whole coupe-like SUV concept, and it continues today with the same sporty spirit. In the 18 years since its debut, more fastback SUVs have joined the fray, including the more luxurious GLE Coupe, the high-tech Audi Q8 and the performance-focused Porsche Cayenne Coupe. While we wouldn't consider the Genesis GV80 Coupe inexpensive, it costs quite a bit less than its German rivals, though it lacks their brand cachet and prestige.
Edmunds spotlight: Coupe drawbacks
While the standard GLE is available in seven different drivetrain choices, the GLE Coupe is only sold with the three most powerful variants. One would think the Coupe might gain a fuel economy advantage with its more aerodynamic shape, but according to the EPA, they're essentially the same. Unlike many other coupe-like SUVs, the GLE doesn't sacrifice rear passenger headroom, and cargo capacity is only marginally smaller. The cargo volume can be somewhat misleading, though, as it's measured to the top of the seatbacks instead of the roof. That means it can't haul larger items like its sibling can. Finally, the GLE Coupe costs more than the standard GLE, so you're paying more to get less.
