Love this car. Four 6 footers can fit comfortably even with the panorama roof. If anyone is over 6 foot there might be negotiation on the front seat position... Trunk space is small but useful - make sure it will work for you. Torquey and fuel efficient 4 cylinder pulls so smoothly from any speed. The double clutch transmission is amazing - very fast and smooth shifting. You can pull the paddles at any time to get the gear you need but mostly it does it all itself in any of the driver modes that you choose - from comfort to sport to off road. Lovely powerful progressive brakes. Would be really great fun to drive except that steering is typical electric with zero feel. Solid build is very reassuring indeed. Ride is a bit sharpish around town but excellent at speed.

This vehicle is very comfortable to drive. Even in cold weather, the heating system keeps the vehicle comfortable. After about 1500 miles, I have had no trouble with it at all. The styling of the exterior makes me smile. It is a cute, stylish SUV. After 7800 miles I continue to enjoy this vehicle. The Apple CarPlay deserves mention. It makes finding where you are going relatively easy since there is a clear map with verbal directions as well as directions pictured on the GPS map. I ordered all of the safety features available. The car has stopped itself to prevent getting too close to the vehicle in front of my vehicle. The vehicle provides an audible signal and a visible warning to warn me not to change lanes. This is especially helpful when driving on a dark road. When my back was not feeling fine for a day or two, the supportive seats were helpful. In short, I like the style, comfort, and practicality of the vehicle. Update: Now that I have about 26,000 miles, I continue to enjoy having the vehicle. All of the things I wrote about the car above remain my feelings about the vehicle. I have two cars. When it cane time to replace my other car, I bought another Mercedes Benz (a convertible). Even though Mercedes cars are not cheap, I believe they are worth the money because they provide a feeling of enhanced safety, comfort, and happiness. Update: At 30,000 miles, what I wrote about the vehicle remains true. It has chugged along very nicely as it took care of the important tasks of taking me back and forth to work, to get healthcare, to visit family, and to shop for food during the pandemic. When I bought the vehicle. I did not expect the healthcare I would need or a pandemic. But the vehicle has handled these challenges very well. With about 32,000 miles on it, the vehicle is still a joy to own and drive. Now I use it as a backup to my daily driver — another Mercedes Benz. I do not work for Mercedes. But this is how I feel.

Well Balanced Luxury SUV

I bought a used CPO 2018 GLA 250 AWD. I had a new Hyundai Kona which I mostly loved but wanted more luxury. I use the GLA for work at 600-800 miles per week for sales work and just finished a 5025 mile road trip to Florida. For the road trip my mileage was 30.5mpg and never varied much. For work I get 28 mpg which is about 2/3rds hwy. The main positives are it is quick well modulated acceleration, effective distinct drive modes to choose from, good gas efficiency and the ride is nearly perfect to me. It’s not super stiff like many sporty cars are and the sound insulation is good for a vehicle this size and price. I like little things like the automatic rear lift gate and keyless touch entry. I feel the seat space both front and back is good. I took my parents out to eat and my stepmom says she usually hates back seats but was comfortable in the GLA. I recommend you get one with blind spot monitor as the side mirrors leave a large blind spot. I also recommend the Apple Car Play which is indispensable to me. I also enjoy the lower roof line for easily throwing kayaks and paddle boards on top. I got mine without the panorama sun roof which makes the ceiling higher and the ride quieter. Last, the A/C cools the car super quick and heat works great, as well. I recommend the all-weather matts if you live in a place like Colorado. The negatives: The USB ports are in the center console which is idiotic to me. There are no recesses to let the cords hang out so you sort of crush the cords over time. Silly error. There are no USB ports in the rear, either. To get all the tech you have to buy several different packages. I also found the front seats to be a bit uncomfortable on the long road trips. I am thinking of getting a gel pad. The rear storage is not great but I rarely need much and for this subcompact size I’d rate it neutral. The final negative for me has been MB dealerships who make maintenance costs extremely high. I just paid $933.00 for a B (even year) service. Another dealer charged $550 and an independent was just $359.00. Just watch out and don’t take the salesman’s word (I asked when I bought the car). The car also runs on premium but is offset with good mileage. Insurance is a bit higher than others, too. In summary, I love the car for comfort, performance and appearance. I am not as jazzed about cost of operation nor Mercedes dealerships who seem to take every opportunity to empty your wallet. However, I do not factor that in to my rating for the car itself which is a nicely engineered piece of work.

Loving my GLA 250 4MATIC

I recently purchased my 2018 GLA 4MATIC after having a hard top Miata for a few years. I LOVED my Miata but it was time for a more luxurious ride. I first looked at the Volvo XC40 and while I really liked the car, there was a huge blind spot and none of the dealers within a 100 mile radius had any in stock and I would have to order one and wait until the new year for it to arrive. No instant gratification there! Then I started to consider the GLA, the Audi Q3 and the BMW 1 & 3. I test drove the GLA and really liked it but thought I'd look at the other brands before purchasing. The Audi didn't have Apple Car Play and that was a deal breaker. And I have never liked BMWs (I know I'm weird) so after looking at them in Palo Alto, I crossed them off my list without a test drive. (I sat in both the 1 & 3 and didn't like the interior on either - both felt cheap and cramped.) I decided on the GLA 250 4MATIC and I've had it for a month. I really like the way it drives and handles. I like a car to go and pick up quickly, so I was concerned it wouldn't be zippy enough, but that isn't an issue. The front is very comfy and I love the support the seats offer as well as the layout. The tech systems was very easy and intuitive and I'm not a techie so I was worried about that, but again, not an issue. I'm short and the head room isn't the greatest but I have the first seat position button set to very low and the second button set to where I drive, so entering and exiting isn't an issue. The back seat is small and I wouldn't want to sit there, but I don't have to, and I rarely have passengers in the back. As for the cargo space, don't buy this car if you're looking to haul big or large items - it's not built or meant for that. I love this car and it fits my lifestyle perfectly - beautiful exterior and interior, great ride, great pick up, and I think it handles great. Also, the dealer experience at MB surpassed all the others except Audi - they were very good as well. Bottom line, I'd totally buy this car again.

I thought I loved the GLA. It was all I could dream about for months and I promised myself it would be my next car...until the day I went to buy it. It was fire engine red, just gleaming under the showroom lights and I was super excited. I opened the door and my heart fell. First of all, I bumped my head three different times just getting in and out of the car. If you are claustrophobic, this car is not for you. Secondly, my knees were bent uncomfortably if I wanted to have any passenger in the backseat. When I extended the driver’s seat far enough to be almost comfortable (I’m 5’7” without heels), the back of driver’s seat was practically touching the seat part of the back passenger seat. Putting in a car seat for my future infant was not an option. Thirdly, if you’re looking for the suv feel where you can look down from your high seat on the sedan-driving folks, look somewhere else. This car feels even more sedan driving than sedans. So sad. I really wanted to buy the car. *sniff sniff*
