+600k Miles and Still Going STRONG
Diesel Mercedes ARE the Cheapest Cars on the ROAD ! Period. I've retained all receipts, fuel ( +$60,000 in 10 years, average 70,000 per yr) Maintenance, etc. Cost per mile is lowest of any car I've driven, from VW Jetta Diesel, Jeep GC, Tahoe's, Camry, etc. Recently replaced ORIGINAL Turbo and Starter. Engine, knock on wood, has never been opened, Tranny rebuilt at 400,000 because I drive like a German. The only thing I would change is the TAXES on Diesel. Since I burn LESS FUEL, Why does the Federal Govt and State charge me more, don't they want us Commoners to use LESS FUEL ?!?!?!

Love this car
This car's average mileage for its first 51,000 miles is 30,6. On the highway I get 41+ at 70 mph. Add Mercedes legendary comfort and handling and this is a great car. I bought it used in 2009 from a dealer with a full MB warranty for $28 k. I'll never buy a new one again! It is my fourth Benz/first diesel, and I am now a diesel convert. Why drive anything else?

Great car
So far zero problems with this car. I bought it transferred from Houston to Phoenix with 45k mi, and have 60k mi now. Everything is perfect. Fuel mileage summer 24/36 winter 29/38 city/highway. My typical city driving is 6 mile each way with 15 lights. hwy hilly and 75 to 80mph. Note ac use is the mpg killer in Phoenix.
Love my car
I bought this car as a used car at a dealership. Got an excellent price. Has over 126k miles but drives like new. Everything works like new. The interior is in pristine condition. For people who spill the occasional drink the stainguard on the floor mat works marvelously. The gas mileage is averaging 35 mph with a/c in Phoenix at speeds averaging 70 mph. I read previously an issue with that but I haven't experienced it. I drive 80 roundtrip miles daily and this car is perfect for it. My carpool buddy loves how comfortable the seats can be for his naps on the way home. The overhead lighting for the back seat passengers is very helpful for passengers to navigate maps, etc while I'm driving.
Life with Leisel the Deisel
I purchased my 2006 320 CDI with 135,000 miles on it. Having done so I went to a highly recommended shop and told them I wanted the car returned to showroom condition. $ 5,000 later I own a truly great car. I recently fixed the 250,000km badge on her grille and I am as pleased two years later, as I was the day I got her. That initial work included four new tires replacing tires that were not designed for the car, a front end, correct windshield wipers and a stem to stern check of all systems and adjustments. The secret to my satisfaction is continued preventive maintenance by a highly skilled technician--not the local Mercedes dealer about whom the horror stories are endless. I drive the 25 miles to get my car worked on by real experts. Recently discovered the cost of a lost key--obscene. But despite its age this car runs like a new car, all systems work. Some things like the GPS system is antiquated and worthless--but it still works. I plan to put a lot of miles on this car. As she cruises toward 185,000 still the most reliable car I have ever owned, and still a pleasure to drive. The guys at German Import Service see her once every 5000 miles which means that, taken together, my maintainance costs are very reasonable. Fuel economy remains amazing--37-38 mpg. Any little thing gets fixed immediately, no matter how trivial.

Take this car and...
After 15 months of driving this car, and at least 10 trips to the dealer for repairs for electrical, leaks etc. in the last 10 months I am going to sell it and get another Lexus. The electrics are horrible, and it takes 2 weeks to get the gaskets from Germany for the oil leaks. Buyer beware
Mercedes Diesel is Great
I bought this CPO car sight unseen from a dealer about 800 miles from home. I flew there, picked up the car, and drove it home. The car was virtually flawless. I was a little worried when the CEL came on the second day, but the selling dealer said not to worry...get it checked when I got home. I did...and it turned out to be a bad glow plug. My local dealer replaced all six plugs per a TSB. I have owned several Mercedes diesels in the past but this one blows the others out of the water. It has very strong acceleration! How great is that in a diesel (remember the ones from the 80s?)! I got slightly better than 40 mpg on my drive home and in combination city/freeway get 30+. Great car
My Benz
Best vehicle I have ever owned. Got an amazing 44.9 mpg recently on one trip. Handles like a dream and great acceleration. You could drive this car across country at 95 mph and it would purr along all day.

Geaux Mercedes!
I bought the car with 22,000 miles and now have 65,000 miles almost a year later. The only repair I've made (under warranty) was some front end work. The diesel has returned 35 MPG total average in predominantly highway driving (150 miles/day). With the exception of the front end work, the vehicle has been flawless, even the electronics (which is surprising). I've owned six Mercedes before, mostly diesels, and wholeheartedly recommend the brand, and particularly their diesels.
One of the best Mercedes Benz cars ever
I own this car for 6 months and I already drove more than 20 000 miles. I bought it with 150k miles, now just passed 170k miles. It drives like an S class, on highway i get 40+ mpg, on city (new york city) around 26-28mpg and combined around 35mpg. Im 24 years old and I love driving this. I owned different cars like Audi A4, Benz C class, Bmw 3 series, Honda etc but for people that do a lot of highway miles this car is perfect, not newer Bluetec but this Straight Six ( I6 ) CDI.

Every Car should be a Diesel
Finally, after 30 years of dreaming of buying a Mercedes Diesel, I finally have one. I purchased a used 2006 E320 CDI in November of 2009. I am beyond impressed. First, the vehicles systems are easy to access, air, fuel and air filters all are easy to access and change. I am a bit of a technical nut so this is important and it should be important to every person as it makes repairs cheaper. This car is built like a panzer tank. It effortlessly cruises at 100 and the economy is uncanny. I routinely get 40 MPG in MIXED DRIVING. My best is 45 MPG on a trip on Maine. This car is Quiet, and remarkable powerful. It blows away my BMW 3 series. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!
A Moderately Good Vehicle
Bought used with 28k miles on it. Was all excited about getting this car, but excitement has worn off. Radio sounds good, but controls are poor. Knows nothing of folders on MP3 CDs. Too many button presses to get from Radio to CD to other. Defrost is annoying: full fan speed, highest temp, turns A/C on. Have to use MB phone, no BlueTooth. Engine is very good, powerful, economical, driving range is excellent (near 700 miles). Yet to see 40mpg like people claim, and I drive conservatively. Steering is soft/spongy. No Oil Dipstick?! Leather is good. Overall a good car, but I expected more from a company that charged $50k+ for this car when new.
Best MB Diesel that I have owned
This car has performed exceptionally well since I purchased it from dealer. It had approx 28k at purchase. I purchased the MB extended warranty out to 5 year/100k to cover major component replacements. Best mileage was trip from El Paso,TX to destination near Fort Worth,TX (609 miles)this year, using air, with cruise control set at 70 MPH. With a few stops along the Interstate, I averaged 42.5 mpg to destination.Onboard computer at arrival said I could go another 280+ miles till refuel.(E-320 CDI has 21.0 gallontank. On board computer says that I have overall average of 33.5 mpg since purchase of car-mostly city driving mixed with some x-country trips. E- 320CDI, BEST of 4 diesel cars I owned!
Have to get rid of this one.
Wonderful to drive. Fabulous mileage. Have driven MB since 1982. This is my last one. Has left me on the side of the road three times away from my home state in only 21000 miles. Fuel lift pump and fuel gauge sender unit is weak. It must be the same as from the gas engined car. Unit has been replaced twice. Air conditioner freezes up after driving two or three hours and has to be turned off to thaw, but refreezes every thirty minutes or so. Dealership seems unable to fix it. Mysterious electronic bugs in display that come and go. Preheat indicator sometimes comes on and stays on for three or four minutes. This car is not reliable enough to drive long distances!
Mercedes Recall 744,000 cars for defective sunroof
The glue securing the glass panel to the sliding frame on the sunroof and could detach. My '06 E320 CDI sunroof did just that at 65 MPH and flew off of the car onto the highway. Check out this article on the recall : https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a30403453/mercedes-benz-sunroof-recall/ and enter your VIN number on the automaker's website to find out if it is involved in the recall.
Great Car
Great car in all respects--Mercedes does not understand what a great car they have here. Great pickup, Great economy. Who needd a hybrid when you can drive this?
276000 and 301000 miles still strong and sold
Great vehicle own two CDI s and they are dead reliable and solid Has the vault like feel and frugality of a diesel the I6 is the one to own.

Beware of the E Class Defroster
The E Class defroster has no adjustment. Full temperature only on the windshield and interior of car. Makes for an oven when on. Doesn't cut off automatically. Had I known this, I would not have bought a $55K Mercedes.
E320 CDI- best car owned yet
Car is fully loaded with all but hands-free telephone option. The only minor complaint I have about interior is the headrest is too far forward and cannot be adjusted back at all (so far as I have figured out!) Ride is exceptionally smooth and the torque is awesome- when you put your foot down: Wheee!! The car is beautiful. Pano roof is good so far- extra light is nice. Rear seat could offer a bit more leg room at expense of trunk, IMHO (I am tall and have the seat all the way back). Good fuel economy so far. Keyless Go is wonderful. Love it all!! Just wish I had more places to go :>)
Best Car I Have Ever Owned
This car is a tank. Great mileage, very safe, and a vehicle I will put at least 250,000 miles on. I bought this car new in 2006 and it is my far the best automotive investment I have ever made. Don't waste your money on short term 48 month ( or shorter) leases. Buy a solid Mercedes and drive it for 10 plus years.

2006 E320 CDI
I did a lot of research and realized that the I-6 CDI motor was one for the ages. Iron block, naturally balanced, dependable and durable. I had to purchase a "pre-owned" 2006 since I live in the great state of California. I arrived and I could not be happier. My father has owned many MB cars over the years, this CDI is as close to a perfect car as he and I can imagine. It is the perfect size, seats 5, it has outstanding acceleration and curising speed capability and I got 35 MPG over a 226 mile trip (including several acceleration runs). On that 226 mile trip I used just a smidge over 1/4 of the tank. The range left is 400 miles. I am looking forward to this car for years to come.
Good Value for Long Term Ownership
I have covered 40,000 miles averaging 35 mpg . Handling , steering, suspension, excellent. Very comfortable ride. My only negative comment, no engine oil dipstick. Body panels good fit and finish excellent both inside & out. Very silent and very quick for a diesel
Love It!
I don't think I will ever own anything but a Mercedes now! It's the best! Plenty of room for my family. I cannot believe the fuel economy I am getting! The dealership filled up my tank and I drove on that first tank 723 miles. This has so much power, and looks so slick!
Faithful Service_17 years
Other than replenishing consumables like filters, tires and batteries. Air filters, wheel rotation and oil changes done at home. No issues and no worries.

Honest review from a car guy
I've only had my Benz CDI for 2 weeks...and here is my take. Looks...it has great lines and curves. Timeless elegance. Performance...Mine is tunes and has all the deletes. It goes 0-60 in 5 sec. It is quiet, smooth and nimble on the freeway. Comfort...seats are just OK. Not a lot of padding and seats don't have much give. They do adjust well though. AC and heat are good. Ease of use...Nav is worthless. I just use WAZE. No Bluetooth, but I connect my phone using a Bluetooth FM device that connects the car to my phone via the radio. It works well. Computer is easy enough to figure out, but could be more intuitive. Radio is decent, but I've heard better. all controls are easily reachable. Cruise on L side of wheel occasionally gets bumped when using turn signal. It could be a problem. Seat warmers slowly go off, BY DESIGN!!! this is one I've not run into before. On any of my other cars, the seats warmers stay on whatever setting you switch on...until you switch it off. Not MB. It starts with 3 bars, then 2 bars 10 min later, then 1 bar 10 min later, then off. Weird concept. Ease of working on it/DIY maintenance....This is where it gets really good grades. All the filters and pretty easy to replace. Oil changes are a breeze. Ability to modify...These cars can be tuned, have bigger turbos swapped in, body upgrades. It's no VW or Subaru when it comes to mods, but you can have fun with it. Overall impression...I love the car. It's elegant, very fast, great MPG and rides great. Wish seats were better.

Panzer
The CDI has become r fave car vs 300 hp CLK V8 coupe and ML SUV Roomy, comfortable almost 2 ton panzer should be safer in collision as mass & room inside to decelerate vitals before contacting int. surfaces. Get heated seats - great for sore back & xenons really lite your way. Trip computer reads 32.0 mpg 4 the last 16457 miles! I never reset it, but they do reset at the various required MB services (battery disconnected?) Torque is incredible, this is a 5 sp auto with inline 6 turbo, a bit of lag, but u get used to it. If you are looking for a diesel for your own homemade biofuel, get inline 6 as unlike the new V6 diesel (2007 and up) the MB mech says inline can run on it with mods. Has been very reliable
An Excellent Car
The E320 CDI is top notch and well worth the 50G+ price tag. Acceleration is smooth and effortless, the interior is attractive, quiet, and comfortable. It is literally a pleasure to drive back and forth to work. If the power, ride, and handling don't lift your spirits, the sound system surely will. This car has become my private decompression chamber. I look forward to driving it each and every day. It has that quality of ride and handling only the Germans seem able to pull off - firm yet compliant, and tight yet not punishing or noisy. It's as though the bad elements arising from the road are edited out, yet you're still left with outstanding feel and handling.
What a car !
I just plain love this car. I ordered from the factory with Obsidian black exterior and options like the HID lighting, and just could not be happier. The pickup, performance and handling are stunning, the interior is perfect, and the sound system performs as well as the car. I specifically wanted a certain set of options, so I sat with my dealer and made a build sheet and waited for delivery from Germay and I am not disappointed. The car is all I had expected and more. I am a diesel lover - I also have a VW diesel and I just cannot adjust to how quiet and quick this MB CDi is. Mileage has varied between 24 and 32 MPG, and tends to run higher when my wife drives it. She loves it as well.
A great car so far in the first 1000 mi.
This is very comfortable car. Lot of amenities and it feels very safe. The H-K sound system is outstanding. I have had it not long enough to make a judgement on its reliability yet, but so far it has been a great car. I took my friends out and none could tell it is powered by a diesel engine. The acceleration is exceptional and the handling are quite sporty. It is also a very quite highway cruiser (reving at 200 rpm at 70mph) and has plenty of power for passing.
A Perfect Commuter
My commute is 60 miles of highway against the traffic flow and I fill this CDI up once every two weeks. My 2001 E320 required refill once per week. Composed and comfortable, the integrated iPod system is a delight. Seat comfort is much improved over older models. No clatter or smoke and plenty of low end torque when you apply the right foot. Most passengers won't know it is a diesel till you tell them.
My second new turbo diesel
My previous E-300 (99) was driven 87000 relatively perfect except for a ew electrical glitches and bad window carriage interior hardware. This CDI model gets better fuel mileage, is quieter and is more comfortable. All over I'd rate it a 9.8. I wish it had 4- matic, but I was told that it was not available in the CDI model. The worse single feature is the radio/cd which can't hold a candle to the system in my 1999 model. Kardon vs Bose...
Who needs Hybrids
I have had this car for one month and 1300 miles - what a car. I am getting 33 MPG communting to work, great acceleration, great passing down kick at 60 MPH, and I can chirp the tires at a light - what more can you ask for. I traded my GS300 for this car and could not be happier. This car is not your father's diesel
My CDI
I have owned diesels since 1977, starting with a 240 d. I managed to get a used (9000miles) CDI from my local dealer last month, they imported it from Ohio, because they can't sell diesels in Calif. The car is great except for the electronics. After having the car for only 2 weeks, the battery warning light came on, and it had to go back to the dealer because of a faulty sensor. We have had the same trouble with our 99 E430. Apart from this the car is great. Its difficult to get the 27 mpg in the city though
Mercedes 320 CDI
I am a Mercedes enthusiast that has owned models ranging from SL, S and E classes since 1977. I have owned 4 diesels and 8 gas mosels. This is without a doubt, the finest car yet. The speed and torgue is fantastic, actually faster than the E320 gas model. Combine this with fantastic mileage (37 MPG hwy) great handling, impressive interior and exterior design, roomy interior, large trunk and lots of neat features and creature comforts and you have a 10.
At last
I just purchased my new CDI. I had driven older diesel Mercedes so, was familiar with the car. However, I was amazed at how quiet and powerful the new engines are. In addition to the many outstanding qualities of this car, the MPG is incredible. I have gone from 2 tanks per week (Range Rover) to 1 tank per 1 1/2 weeks. What a difference. Way to go Mercedes!
The best
This car is amazing and it is fast for a diesel. The E class is also nice in the interior. The gas mileage is suprising for a Mercedes Benz of any kind, let alone the E class
Best of Both Worlds
Having your cake and eating it too! The E-Class is the perfect highway cruiser, soaks up the bumps and smooth as butter. The diesel is phenomenal with gobs of torque off the line and still plenty of passing power from 50 to 90 mph range on the highway. Just drove this baby home 300 miles and got get this 36.8 mpg for the trip about 80% hwy and 20% city driving. Mercedes has it going on - forget hybrids diesel is fuel efficient and practical and proven for over a 100 years! Wasn't impressed with Lexus (dressed up Toyota) and BMW lacks luxury and pampering I was looking for (too spartan inside and weird looking outside) Audi came closest with A6 but alas no diesel in US yet! Drive it - Sold!
Don't Leave Home Without It!
There's a flaw in the stats: mine gets MORE gas mileage: 45 mph. The car rides like a dream but maneuvers like a sports car. Quiet and powerful. I formerly owner a Mercedes diesel 70's model and the problems were: slower than a gas engine, smelly and noisy. Not now: the Turbo Diesel is super fast, doesn't smell, and is quiet as a church mouse. Listen to your doctor: Buy this car! Miami to Atlanta on 1 tank!
Mercedes E320 CDI
Recently drove from FL to RI and averaged 36mpg. Very quiet and very powerful. Average around town and in the city is 25. I have been running bio-diesel so it is even more ecologically minded.
Nav system is an antique
The E320 CDI is very fuel efficient and fun to drive, but the transmission has occassional problems. Slipping during takeoff which my dealer says is normal. Styling is rather bland. Seats could stand to be a little more comfortable. The lumbar support should be power and easier to reach. My biggest complaint is the antique nav system. Somebody must have bought these on a $59 closeout. Charging $2900 for this system should be a felony. It's an unbelievably antiquated system with few features, no touch screen, and no voice command. Also there's no bluetooth unless you buy their phone. I own a 2007 Toyota Camry that blows this car away with superior luxury features. Sorry MB, you need to catch up
It Will Save Your Life!
Faster than a speeding bullet. Finest ride in the world. This Mercedes truly lives up to what the Europeans say: There's Mercedes and then there's the rest. It is safe, quiet. The diesel sounds sexier and quieter than a gas engine, and the turbo makes it faster. I pay 23 cents less a gallon than I do for BMW guzzling Z4 BMW. Buy this car, it will save your soul.
Great car
Lease was up on ML500 and I wanted something with space and fuel economy. With fold down rear seat and large trunk this was the car. I have averaged right at 30mpg and it drives great. Very quiet. Much quieter than my wife's 2005 Audi A8.
What a great car
I never thought I would own a Mercedes. I always felt they were and old person's car. This CDI as a lot of power. I drove from south Jersey to 20 miles from Georgia on one tank of fuel. I bet I could have made it to Georgia. I lease the car and the only way I will not buy it after the lease is if Mercedes puts that motor in its S class.
High end MB with low end econobox milage
Great build quality, interior layout and handling. Quiet engine, as well as wind noise at high speed due to high tech diesel and .27 drag coef. Handling is best I've seen in a 4000lb sedan with road tests give it a .84 skid pad rating.. With 17" 245/45 wheels/tires it almost handles like a sports car. I am getting over 40 mpg consistently at speed over 70mph in freeway milage.. amazing.
E320 CDI Rocks
Have owned BWM, Volkswagen, and Volvo vehicles. This MB is by far the best in terms of build qulity, ride, and engineering. This is my first diesel, so I'm hoping for a huge improvement over my current SUV (16 mpg). The design is timeless and the car feels like it will go hundreds of thousands of miles.
Performance & 40mpg. Amazing CDI E320
An outstanding combination of class, performance, and economy! The E320 CDI has it all. The vehicle is a pleasure to drive. It produces massive torque at below 2000 rpm giving the sense of tremendous acceleration with almost no lag. Cruising with this vehicle at 75-80mph provides a solid feel of the road while producing almost 40mpg. The car loafs along at this speed and you can cruise for 3-4 hours at a time without tiring. The car handles well on country roads as well as interstates. While not a roadster, the car easily handles most curvey roads well. Better handling can be had if you install higher performance tires versus those the car is shipped with.
My Mercedes Turbo Diesel
Luxury car, hot rod performance, and great fuel mileage, sounds like an oxymoron, but it's true. This car will effortlessly out accelerate many so called high performance cars to 60 mph. Very comfortable inside with all the latest gizmos. Super sound system that rocks the car. Rear sunshade is great for those tall trucks with their headlights in your rear view. Lots of storage space. Folding rear seat option is great for those trips to the hme improvement sore. Navigation system is easy to use and the voice control system is a super feature for hands off operation of the Nav, CD, pone, stellite radio, etc.
Best Diesel
Best diesel I've owned. 750-800 miles to a tank. Great for a salesman, but wish the wagon was available.
Best Sedan
This absolutely the best driving sedan I have ever purchased. The CDI is a awsome engine. On highway driving 85mph, I am still getting 35mpg, and in the city I am getting 24mpg, but again I have a lead foot!
