Best Car Ever

We bought this car with 6 yrs old as CPO with 35K miles. I just flipped it to 200K miles last week. We purchased an extended warranty from MB and that was a good decision. We have faithfully maintained the car and without a doubt, I can say this is the BEST car I've ever driven and/or owned. It is a tank. Over the years, I've had it packed. Often times with 6 passengers as the kids loved the rear facing seats. Combined city/hwy mileage averages 23-25, which given the performance is hard to beat. This car is solid, rain (which we have a lot of in the PNW) and snow are not a problem. Looking to replace (just want something newer) and it's going to be a tall order to beat this one.

Has never let me down, or stranded, always starts, runs smooth looks awesome in black paint finish, gets plenty of looks as she rolls past.. Bose sound system sounds like a concert w/ 8 speakers through out cabin.. great for long road trips or all around driving in comfort luxury. Mine has rear wheel drive w/ good snow tires and a little weight in the trunk for winner time, sand bags gets me through the heaviest blizzards winters in Pennsylvania.. Keep up on the basic maintenance oil change high octane gasoline she will run like a dream replace parts when needed it is like a fine air craft it will go on forever.. I love this car I can never stop staring at it' this car takes me everywhere She is part of the family love my Benz... e

I'd Buy Another - It's Been Very Good

I purchased this off a new-car dealer via eBay; had 78K on it then; now has 125K. This car sure beats the newer Cadillac SRX that I dumped due to horrible reliability. This is my "work truck" for renovating rental homes - back seats are often down with building materials in the back as the car tows my 5x8 utility trailer behind, with 2 dogs on the front seat. The 4-Matic never gets us stuck, as we love to ski in the winter and travel in snowstorms. Slightly-stiff seats utilize excellent- grade leather & show only minimal wear (some leather dye sprayed on annually keeps them nice). Issues: Dash pixels (common), rusted hydraulic line, broken front spring, stuck sunroof and nasty body rust.

Driving this car feels like you're piloting a piece of butter over a pancake on a Saturday morning, and it exudes the vibe of a warm, syrup-enveloped waffle; beautiful and relaxing. The steering feels like you're holding hands with the car's soul and you're both becoming one with the intuition of where you want the car to go, guiding the vessel through a seemingly telepathic interface. There is little resistance or road feel from the steering wheel, but it doesn't feel loosey-goosey either. The throttle is gentle and smooth, but it doesn't lack power at any speed. The engine is stout and sturdy, very quiet under usual circumstances but has a nice bark at WOT. The brakes saved my car's front end and a baby deer's life, so I can't say they're not adequate. My only matter of contention with the brakes is that they're almost too effective at low speeds. Very sensitive, but I'll get used to that. The seats are comfortable, the interior is roomy and of good quality. The AC is unyieldingly powerful and fast, with ergonomic controls. Some quarrels I have with the interior, however, are the lack of effective cupholders in the foreward part of the cabin.. actually I'm not even sure if the aft section has any cupholders.. Anyway, there is one flimsy son of a gun pretending to be folding cupholder that resides within the center console. I can't recommend trusting this cupholder at all, it's about as sturdy as New York-style pizza. This brings me to my next altercation... That flimsy simp of a cupholder will spill a drink right onto the VERY FRAGILE shifter electronics.. Right. On. The shifter. The stock shifter is a handsome design but is by no means practical considering the cupholder location (and its aforementioned inadequacy). There is nothing to seal and protect the sensitive electronics that lie directly underneath the face plates, and the gaps in the shifter are basically inviting liquids and debris inside. Damaging the shifter is a common problem on these cars and you may find that it can cause a host of problems, one of which is limp mode. In some cases, a brand new shifter is required, so should you trust a liquid near the shifter, be prepared to buy a $500 part. Very easy to replace, though. No need to reset the CEL or transmission codes that it sets off, at least not in my case. I recommend modifying both the cupholder/replacing it with a better design, and the shifter. Some sort of sealing on the outer edges of the face plates and a leather boot around the lever sealed to the face plate should suffice, but will visually cover the W/S switch. You would still be able to operate the switch, and the gears are displayed on the dash anyway so there is no problem with what is visually covered by the boot. Now on to the sound system; good speakers and all that, the interior is very well insulated from outside noise and the volume control at the steering wheel is a nice feature. The multiple CD player is a neat thing, but the sound system has no aux/bluetooth inputs, so that's pretty wack. Definitely need to replace the stereo. Overall, this is a swanky and posh automobile (:

This vehicle is unique. Way better than an SUV - getting kids in and out of the rear-facing 3rd seat is a breeze. Minivans and SUVs don't have this kind of handling and fuel economy. Mine now has 87k on it and still looks new. I set the cruise at 80 and get 27 mpg with five people aboard. When it snows, we prefer the Benz to my wife's Jeep because the AWD and ESP makes any trip in snow uneventful. Only minor issues --clicking driver seat that I put up with because it's $600 (I think) for a new seat adjuster -- and burned out time & temp pixels on the Instrument Panel ($Big$). I'd buy another one of these cars in a heartbeat.

This car has many standard features for a 2001, some rather subtle, that some brand new cars don't have. It has supreme traction in the snow and rain when fitted with proper tires. This E-class rides smooth as glass around town, has seating for 5, and can also easily carry 3 golfers (late for a tee time) 128 mph down the highway. There's even a button to flip the rear headrests down to increase visibility while backing up. I could go on forever, but long story short, the 2001 Mercedes-Benz E430 4matic is a keeper.

Purchased this vehicle as a pre-owned replacement for my 1999 E430...much more car than the Audi A6 or BMW 5 series, both of which were considerations at the time. The 8 cylinder engine, sport suspension, and auto-stick transmission is awesome. A few too many electronics possibly, but a dream to drive none the less.

I was looking for a timeless vehicle and found a '01 Bril Sil eClassic Sport Edition with all options in superb condition. The drive train is solid and the interior cabin is virtually sound proof. The materials used throughout are of premium quality, unlike Ford. Acceleration is swift and sporty. It's a true gentleman's car and a dream to drive. I'm very pleased.

My wife calls this car her rocket when she touches the throttle it is gone. Excellent mpg 21 in the city, moon roof opens with touch of button but you have to hold the button for it to close. In order to fix the pixels for time and temp dealer says need to replace whole instrument cluster $800 overall we will never buy anything else but Mercedes from now on.

So where to start off with this piece of beauty that was beautiful? My parents purchased this car for me (a college student) back in August 2014 and sadly we had to lay her to rest because I got T-boned with my friend present, we were coming home from the Eagles game against the Houston Texans on Sunday, December 23, 2018. Of course I took the hood ornament to remind myself that she saved two lives. I was the driver and the car got t-boned on the driver side. Had so many adventures with my W210. Got hit really hard at an unknown speed (don't know how fast the guy was going who hit me so HARD). Suffered ZERO ABSOLUTELY ZERO INJURIES and same with my friend. This car did play an important role in my life and she was the absolute best car that I had ever driven and it makes me cry that she is gone forever. This was the last best Mercedes that Mercedes built because doesn't matter how fancy the newer ones are this Benz drove like a dream with little to no issues. I wish I could post the pics on here but I can't. It's rather ironic the night before the accident occurred, my mom told me to drive her piece of **** Honda CR-V 2007 which did not have an airbag in the driver door (did have a side curtain to cover the window), while my Benz had an airbag in the door and the side curtain airbag. The day after the crash I sat in my mom's Honda and saw where I got hit. In her car she has an armrest while the Benz had an airbag and that would have been painful if I was in the Honda and her car most likely would have tipped on its side and my friend being next to me would have been trapped. I most likely would have been in the hospital with my friend for maybe a week or who knows but didn't even have to go to the hospital because I knew I was safe and my friend as well. This is why I loved my mercedes and she will NOT and I said NOT be the last Mercedes that I own. Alright my dad has two (one for him and his old one in the garage for over a decade now) but she will not be the last Mercedes that I own. Its rather funny a ton of my friends asked me (BEFORE THE ACCIDENT TOOK PLACE) all of them said, so when you graduate college which car are you going to buy? I said back at all of them, do you know what kind of question you just asked me???? Also my mother really wanted to get rid of the car once I graduated and I wasn't going to allow her to do that to my baby. If you want my opinion, BUY IT!!!! This car is well worth the money for its power and safety. The only regret I had about this car was is I should have gone for the E320 Wagon because I have a big dog, Newfoundland, so she could not scratch the back seats because they were in perfect condition when we bought it from the first owner and two I'm more of a traveler in the summer and the Wagon would have been a much better suit for me personally. I know my description is all over because this car always drove me happy. Lastly, yes I was able to get a bunch of hot ladies to go out for dinner with me and me driving this vehicle. College gentlemen if you want to impress a hot lady go for this car. If you end up marrying her then great but if she says that it's time to get rid of that old car DON'T LISTEN TO HER because then that is a sign that she is sick and not being herself. The W210 can easily run up to a million miles easy and still drive like its a newborn while Ford or Chevy and the American vehicles would be driving like a grumpy old grandpa before it can EVEN reach 200,000 miles.

I purchased this auto at auction and it rocks! I am 6'4" and the car fits with room for someone behind me. The engine is more than you need and it handles great in the mountains. I have owned Bimmers before and this is a softer ride somewhat (which my wife likes) but it is less stressful after one long day in the car. Buy it!

This is my second new MB but not my last. In ten years, I replaced normal wear items consistent with the mileage but not much else. Service at the dealer is somewhat expensive and I had one bad experience of being overcharged, which I complained about to the next few service advisers. They agreed and made things right. Oddly, in the last couple of years, the cost of replacing typical wearable items has gone down - generally less than estimated. The car gets 22 mpg running around and about 28 mph on the highway (at about 60 mph). The car still looks great, rides well and is totally reliable, which makes it difficult to drop $50k to replace it with a new model.

We purchased this car back in 2006 with a little over 40,000 Miles on it. 13 years later it has over 250, 000 miles and I cannot be more pleased. About 5 months ago, the monthly repair cycle averaging around 300 and last month was a 1000 repair so I am very close to retiring her but this car still gets 27 mpg and runs like a top If you can FIND ONE with less than 100k miles on it, get it. My friends that have the 2005 or later model complain where as I cheer. Tne ONLY issue is it does not come with Blue tooth. The rust on my car is due to living in a snowy area. If

Wonderful 5.5L motor that'll fun forever. Problem with this car is build quality and electronic failures. Also watch out for rust. MB USA will not acknowledge serious rust issues their cars even though hundreds of thousands of well maintained MB cars are rusting. Easy to drive, if you don't step on the gas it drives just like a regular E-class. Great commuter. Much more comfortable than BMW M5. Depreciation very poor, same year M5 costs $10-12k more.

I bought my E320 pre-owned with only 55k miles on it. The car is great handling, beautiful body style, and decent on gas mileage. My only complaint was with the headlights. I must have replaced 5 in the 3 years I had the car. Oh, and the expensive oil changes $89. (But that is because 5 quarts and synthetic blend) I will say the car was very safe. I was hit from behind 2 weeks ago and the only damage was to the trunk and back bumper (barely bent in my opinion) but the insurance company totaled it. Great Car!

I owned mine for 3years until i had an accident and it was totaled. The car protected me very well and i was able to walk away unharmed. It was a rear impact and it crumpled/absorbed the impact so that i could still drive the car, but the rear doors would not open. I love the way it drove, but it wasn't the greatest on gas in the city, was getting horrible mileage, but on the highway it shined and i got at least 25mpg. It was awesome in the snow.

I also seriously considered the BMW 5- and 7-series, Audi A4 & A6, Volvo, Lincoln, Buick, Cadillac, and Mercedes S-class. From the beginning the E-320 was my favorite.

It's May 2011 and my '01 E320 has just 36k orig mi. on it; looks new inside and out. I anticipated owning this car until I couldn't buy tires to fit it. In May of '06, its 5th bday (the warrantee now as good as the paper it was printed on), we lost the right catalytic converter, in 6/08 the air conditioning just stopped, 4/09 the left side cat rattled us back to the shop, but today is special; today starts a week long diagnostic attempting to discover why neither infrared key will operate the ignition. Our '01 E320 is a great car to wash and keep in the garage. It especially looks good in the driveway. If my wife felt the same as me; it'd be pressed into lots of cat food cans.

So far I've replaced: Front passenger seat belt buckle Both catalytic converters Front wheel bushings Instrument panel Rear Shocks Steering wheel switches Three audio speakers Both sun visors Car has 210K miles, I feel too much has gone wrong with the car for it being a MB. I also have an undiagnosed mystery noise in the back seat. Front end vibrates at high speed.

I bought the car with only 87000 Kms on it and fixed a few things and put on new top of the line tires. The car runs beautifully and I have few complaints. But I find the steering is very tight and the car reacts immediately at the very slightest movement of the steering wheel which when on the highway at 75 to 80 mph can be disconcerting. It also doesn't straighten out by itself after a turn and you have to help it by steering it back. On the highway I found a sudden gust of wind or even passing a large truck can cause the car to swerve and in one instance almost move me out of the lane I was in. Is this normal?? None of the cars I was following swerved as much.

I owned two E320 before the E430 and this car drives like the day I bought it. I do not use it in the winter. Beautiful handling, smooth, safe, and would keep it forever given the opportunity. Not happy with the new Mercedes, too much plastic. This car was well maintained. Mariah, CT.

The AM radio has never worked well. I replaced the CD changer in the trunk after three years and limited use! Interior vanity failed third year. Variuous other little problems that required trips to the dealer like lights, air conditioning and power steering. Thank God for the extended warranty ,but this excluded radio, vanity light, and CD player. My wife loves the ride, I expected a lot more for the money. I'm disappointed.

I have had more problems with this car in 3 years than all 3 of my last Fords combined. The short list of problems. The remote fails to unlock or lock the car frequently. I need to carry 2 keys. The heater and AC does no work properly. Dealer can not fix. Dashboard light burned out. Brakes last only 8,000 miles. Radio does not turn on all the time. Car does not go ino gear.

This car just keeps constantly amazing me. It does everything so well. I was a little skeptical about the V6....wondering if it would have enough power for me.....but it brings a childish grin to my face whenever I punch her.....on a recent cross state jaunt.....she averaged 25 mpg while cruising between 85-90 mph.......amazing.....

After 8 BMWs over the past 15 years, plus an assortment of others (Infinity, Jaguar, Cadillac, etc.), I replaced my tired Volvo V70 T5 w. a beautiful white '01 E320 I found near Charlotte, NC, w. just over 100k mi.. It's a 2-owner local car w. no accidents, clean & no problems except for the new set of Chinese tires (why???) it wore. I corrected that today w. a set of Z-rated Michelin Pilot Sport A/S+. After a thousand miles in 2 weeks on combined high-speed interstate & rural highways, I couldn't be happier. W. transmission fluid/filter & differential oil, coolant & plug change, it looks, runs & drives like new, all for under $8k. W. due diligence, still plenty of good ones out there.

This is worst car I have ever owned. Every time I turn around something is wrong either with the electrical system, a/c, engine overheating or the windows wont go up. Oh and of course the cylinders keep going out. The check engine came on once again today two out of six cylinders are not working. I need another full time job to keep the car on the road. Not mention the $50+ oil changes. I wish I had my Infiniti I30 back. It never left me on the side of the road!

My family loves this car. We drive 700 miles a day when we travel, which is frequently, and we never feel tired afterwards. We are all the way up to 137K miles now and really it feels as solid as it did at 40K. The fuel mileage is amazing. We get 29 mpg on the road and average 26. Everybody looks at it admiringly, even though now it is 7 years old. We have had to make some repairs, but if you shop around and find a reasonable mechanic it really isn't much more expensive than other cars.

Just traded my 01 E320 4M with 118,600 kms for a 2006 Lexus GS300. I bought the E with 80,000 kms on it and a vibration cropped up between 60 kmph and 80kmph daily until it warmed up. Not tires, but a known problem with MB and they say it can't be fixed at London ON MB. Also 2 front fenders rusting through along with bottom of the doors,my problem not MB's, and various suspension issues. CD changer and audio system was all fuzzy sounding and the drivers chair creaked like an old lazyboy. Service got expensive and it was just time to let it go. It was disappointing because we thought we would have many years of service from this car but we became afraid that it would end up being worthless.

I love the drive of the car but the problems we have had have been way too much. Just had one of the catalytic converters break just 1.5 weeks after the other broke. Mercedes won't fix it due to an 8yr/80K warranty (we've had the car 5 years and it just went over 80K miles). A mere $1600 just for the part! This is the straw that broke the camels back. Too many other quality issues to mention. For 60K, you'd think you'd get WAY more quality. My 97 BMW has had far fewer problems. Lexus or BMW - you get my money next time. Mercedes? Never again!

I thoroughly enjoy this vehicle, the ride is quiet and comfortable. The cabin is egonomically designed for easy access to every appointment. The vehicle without doubt is built to exacting specifications. The bose sound system is without equal, and makes the vehicle a pleasure to drive. The only question I is the transmission which seems a little quirky at times, perhaps it's my first experience with a Mercedes that causes this concern.

This is my second E class (96 was the other) and am amazed at the improvements from the 96 in every respect; ESP, radio controls on wheel, V6 vs. straight 6 and the improved acceleration, 5-spd vs. 4-sp transmission. It rides smoother and quieter than the 96 ever did. And handles better too, although the tires might make a difference; it has Michelin vs. Goodyear and Yokohama on the 96.

So far I have had no problems. I bought it used from an authorized MB Dealer so I have the Starmark warranty and a bit of factory warranty left. I have not encountered any problems other than regular maintenance repair. I probably could have bought one for about 6K less from a non MB dealer, but I did not want to risk dealing with headaches.

I replaced my 1989 300E (with 220K miles) with this silver beauty. Clasic looks, straighforward interior. Solid, safe, and secure. A blast to drive, and the BOSE stereo is awesome.
