Make sure that all of the switches are working weather it's the seats to the climate control to the lights. Do your self a favor and test all switches in the car no mater how minor it may seem because they will be expensive to replace. Other than that bust out a another hundred on parts for every fix it's worth the ride. 25 year back yard mechanic. I love mine......2001 clk 320

At 278,00 miles this car still drives great and shifts smooth on the original engine and transmission. The weak point in the car is the interior and/or electrical components. My seat adjustment now has a mind of its own where up is down and back is forward. Digital pixels are hard to read but at 16 years old, I feel these cars are bulletproof if you can find one that has been cared for. I love the lines on this car and plan to keep it forever. A Classic!!

My CLK320 drives like the dream I always thought Mercedes to be! This is my first Mercedes owenership experience. My main frustration has been the constant back and forth to the dealer for repairs! I have had to replace the catalytic converter 3 times in just over 2 years of ownership. Various sensors have also failed and needed replacement. I've wondered about the wisdom of purchasing another Benz. Still, when the car is not in the shop it's nice to tool around in!

This car is great. I decided it was time to have a convertible again and this CLK430 has not disppointed. The performance is incredible (although it does drink the gasoline) and it has been very reliable. The ride is very tight and taking corners at speed is like riding on rails. Two downers about this car: 1st: unless you must have NAV, don't bother as the screen is very small and it's not very user friendly. 2nd: beware of parking lot curbs as they like to eat up your front spoiler. With that said I bought the car with 40K miles on it and now have 55K. It has been a true pleasure to own and great fun. I am very pleased with this Mercedes.

All-around great car, love the handling, and the awesome power is out of this world. It's my first Mercedes and if all keeps going well it won't be my last. Love the wide Terrelli tires, they really grip the road. Love the inteior and easy access to all controls. A CD changer in the dash would be a plus instead of the trunk. Love it when the car turns admiring heads on the open highway. It has quite an appetite for the gas, but the superb handling and overall fun of driving it supercedes that negative. Impressed with the roomy back seat and large trunk space. Overall thumbs up, thank you Mercedes.

I have loved my CLK 430 coupe since day #1. It always puts a smile on my face and is great to drive, especially on the open road. The updated styling for 2001 still looks great and I think, better than the current, slimmer model. Despite some small nuisance repairs, I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a solid, sporty car to drive in the city or on the highway.

I'll tell you why, because it flat out blows the doors off of everything offered by BMW, and most of the other pseudo-sports cars out there. Perfect handling, face pulling acceleration, drop dead looks, put this car in a class all its own. Seats conform to your shape by controlled air bladder, leather is of the finest quality. This car can quickly move from being an in your face - burn the tires off street racer, to becoming the very essence of a sophisticated elegant example of what a fine automobile should look and handle like.

While possessing somewhat heavy steering this car really is an excellent performer. The V8 provides great low-end torque that's always available on command. The word that most comes to mind is "solid". Highway manners are superb even at near autobahn speeds. The voice- operated integrated Motorola v60 phone is a joy to use. The factory installed AMG-style spoiler kit is nice, but prone to damage due to the low front-end. Watch out for those curbs! And other than an absolutely deplorable radio unit (horrible reception) and and trunk-mounted CD changer (frequent skipping on bumps) the car is wonderful!

This is my 3rd Mercedes and I love it. The back seat is large enough for the kids to ride in but you do have to move the front seats up. The handling is outstanding. My combined gas mileage is around 25 mpg.The sound system (Bose) is unbelievable. I recommend it to everyone.

Bought it a year old. Lot's of fun. Only have 18k miles on it after two years. Bad news. Front AMG bumper cracks easily. 3000 to replace. Also have a lot of new squeaks in front seats. Tires replaced at 12K miles. Bad city gas mileage, but good on highway. Nice transmission, great seats, good room for 4 people. POWERFUL engine, which moves..Best body style so far. Had fuel sensors replaced twice - under warranty. But love look and feel of heavy car. Feels very strong and safe. Not sure how resale value will be. Recommend buying extended warranty before original exprires.

I love my little drop top. Zippy and easy to park. Fun to drive and extrememly comfortable. The dealership has been very helpful w/ regular services and on of the rear windows had to be replaced due to mechanical problems. The car is getting older now and I will truely miss it. With this car your not just happy driving it but also standing in a traffic jam is no problem thanks to the great sound of BOSE. I love it.

My CLK 55 reminds me of the muscle cars of the 70's but with the finesse and practicality of the 21st century. This car may be driven as a family car but when needed, the 380 LB/FT of torque will launch you into a neck snapping experience. I have managed to trash BMW M3'S as well as a few Porsches. The car was built so well balanced that the AMG massaged engine fits well with the chassis and suspension of the whole package. I believe I have found the perfect supercar for todays needs

A great driving car in the mountains and for road trips with 7-8 day durations. Trunk is large enough for two sets of clubs and luggage for two for a full weeks travel. The power calls one back to the days of the pony car. When shopping for a new toy considered the Porsche 911 and the new Jag, but there was no contest. Power and speed plus a trunk gave the CLK a major edge. Having owned more than 15 sport cars during my time and 10-15 luxury type sedans, this is the most fun and responsive car yet. Features I like are the throaty V-8 when the peddle hits the metal, the passing power, and the downshift capability in the mountains.

All in all I have to say that the Mercedes is a good car. Bought it used with 49k and the light bulb inside the speedometer went out, was $200 to replace. The pixels in the speedometer that show the gear and the temperature and the time started fading out. I have the extended Starmark warranty on it so I didn't pay a dime and they replaced the speedometer entirely and threw in the bulb for free! Car handles amazingly, not horrible on gas for a V8 (15-17mpg) Great acceleration, great handling, would definitely only recommed if you buy with warranty, otherwise the maintenance is not worth it $800 recommended maintenance services are a bit pricey every few thousand miles

This auto has fantastic styling and engineering yet lacks reliability. The electrical system has had several problems since I reached mile 16. I have had the instrument cluster replaced 6 times for malfunctions. The automatic windows have been reset or replaced 9 times. The best attribute of this auto has been the great gas mileage 23/30.

Lots of electrical and electronic problems. Everytime the dealership repaired one problem they seemed to create (2). Example on 3rd attempt to get auto-up feature on window to stop dropping the window down, they pulled the door panel and found corrosion.Replaced window parts. Obviously the lost power to vital areas and scrambled all the memory features, mirror controls, etc. Back to the dealership for another week. Replaced windshield and damaged exterior and interior trim pieces. So many problems I don't remember them all.

This is actually a review of my wife's 2002 430CLK. IT was the 1st red 2002 imported into the US. She loves it and gets great compliments from her girl friends. She too has had the window problem; apparently this is very common. Dealer replaced both sensors and no more problems. Only real negative - road noise is terrible but tolerable. Not like a Lexus or E430. Gas mileage is also poor - not as good as sticker. Otherwise, great car!

Performance OK for this class.Great residual value, but I plan to keep the car for a quite a few more years.

I was worried that i'd never use the rag top, but was i wrong. Top is down 90% of the time. Plenty of room for my little ones (they keep coats in the car for when it's cold). very quiet when top is up and freeway driving. excellent gas mileage while on freeway. great features. fantastic power. wish i had the nav system. Also, hard to find cell phones (other than from dealer $$$$$$) with integrated system. my wife even loves driving now.

The CLK55 AMG got raving reviews new, and used to cost upwards of $70k in 2001. You can pick one up for under $10k now. The boxier shape dates it, but it’s still a damn good looking car. It comes with most amenities you expect of a newer car (leather, heated seats, memory seats on both sides, auto dimming rear mirror, cruise control, power everything, dual climate, etc). If you’re as lucky as I am, you’ll find one with the optional rain sensing wipers too. ANYWAY, the CLK55 is quick even by todays standards. Like… really quick. Quick enough to get you in trouble if you’re not paying attention. The gearbox can be sluggish but that’s to be expected or a 21+ year old slush box 5 speed auto. It’s insanely reliable, in both CLK430 and CLK55 versions. The M113 V8 was used for decades and for good reason. It’s bulletproof. It takes the abuse and begs for more. It’s not without its faults. Over time, the right side digital cluster (that indicates gear selection and the clock) will go out, the AC control unit will go out, the sunroof will likely stop working, among other electrical gremlins, but again. It’s old. Aside from that, common issues are the crankshaft and throttle position sensors, rear main seal leaks, and engine and trans mounts. All of which are relatively inexpensive fixes. If you’re looking for a V8 German muscle car that’s somewhat low maintenance for a bargain, this is it, GET ONE WHILE THEYRE STILL CHEAP.

Have had absolutely no problems with it, except someone felt they needed my hood ornament more than I did. Replacement cost was 7 bucks and they've got boxes at the dealership. As for the window dropping on the auto up problem, I called the 1-800 # and they walked me thru a how to correct it with window button. It's actually a choice.

Too many problems, at 45k my sunroof and noise problems were still not fixed, new transmission, new car seat motor (3 times, new catalic converter, new A/C drier, sterring wheel shock, new cup holder (2 times), remote door opener, window motor ..... it seems like we don't have good mechanics or poor design, even an aligment took more than 3 times to get it working right, I never had that experience with my Lexus LS400 or Infinity Q45.

It's a total class act sedan. My only regret has been its not a 4WD. I bought it in ATL in 2003 then moved to MT in 2017....still not going to sell it unless someone falls in love with it. Has updated LED headlights, a custom Garmin/Kenwood navigation system wired for ipods/CD player. It's been maintained and kept detailed. It's black with charcoal leather interior and burlwood steering wheel. Burlwood door handles. It has the updated Sport Grille and old hood ornament taken off. It looks like Beth Dutton's Benz! Beautiful car.
