"Best" Mercedes to own

2020 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C 300 4MATIC 4dr Sedan AWD (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 9A)

Would I recommend this vehicle, no. I was told that this was the "best" vehicle to own in the Mercedes-Benz line up and that has definitely failed to be accurate. After about 8 months of owning the vehicle, I stated to have engine turn over issues. I would click the start/stop button and it would sometimes turn over and sometimes fail to do so. I was told that by service advisors and the service manager that nothing could be done if it did not happen in the dealership service center or in front of them. Although I had video footage of what the vehicle was doing. At one point while making a left hand turn on a flashing yellow, the accelerator failed mid turn, causing me to almost cause an accident while making the turn in front of an on coming vehicle at 5 mph. Pedestrians thought that I was doing it on purpose. I pulled over, turned the vehicle off and then back on. The accelerator worked fine after that. I took it back in and was told that there was no recalls or complaints, so they could not do anything about it. On 10/20/2022, I was driving down the freeway, when I went to accelerate and at that moment the vehicle began to stutter/shake uncontrollably. After that, any time the accelerator was pressed it would shutter/shake. My vehicle was towed to a dealership. Come to find out, cylinder one was coding. They found out that the fuel injector was stuck open. According to the service advisor, that issue was causing a misfire. I was told that they replaced the fuel injector and the spark plug. According to the vehicle report I was given, 1 reman injector, 4 TS spring F In, 1 spark plug, and there was a core return (not sure what that means).

Great with the AMG line package

The AMG line package really transformed this car from mediocre to enjoyable! Best all-around vehicle in its class (I drove the A4 and 330i), considering the comfort, drive and looks.

A letdown from the W204

I currently own a 2014 C300 4Matic, and it has been a fantastic car in almost every way. Last week I was given a 2021 loaner from the dealer while some maintenance was done on my car, and I have to say, it was a very mixed bag. I really, really hate the turbo 4 engine - it's noisy and seems gutless; I think they overly rely on the transmission to keep the driver in a reasonable power band, but the transmission seems to be over-thinking its mission, sometimes hanging onto revs way too long and clunking down gears without grace. The interior is, of course, very nice, and it all has a very Mercedes-like feeling until you start driving. I think it would be much easier to score this car higher if the price was more reasonable, though there is a lot of tech in the car. Ultimately, a 4 banger is a 4 banger, no matter how nice the packaging. My advice to used car shoppers: look long and hard at the 2012-2014 V6 C300 before you buy one of these. There are a lot of them around and they are built like tanks.
