Frequent Maintence for the 2000 Mazda
Once this vehicle started aproaching the 30,000 mile mark it requires alot of maintenance. Trasmission problems, fuel injection problems, check engine light comes on repeatingly even after getting the require servicing.
It held up...but..
This car held up. I bought it with 68,000 miles on it. While it held up it had terrible handling. And the noises it made were embarrassing and ridiculous. It constantly sounded like it was dying. I never had this car stall and I drove about 40 miles to and from work daily. But if your looking for a nice car that's going to be a quiet ride.. this isn't for you.
Great little Sedan
I bought this for my wife and the newborn. It has been trouble free for almost four years. One problem with a power window was fixed under warranty and took about 45 minutes at the dealership. A recall on the ignition coils was just as timely to get replaced. Car always starts and handles very well. Get 30 MPG with a 5 spd averaging 70 on the highway.
This car needs a soul
This is a good car for everyday driving, however it wont do much more than that. Whenever you need that extra oomph there is nothing there, and downshifting hardly does anything but make more noise. Overall it is a good car but it just seems to be lacking, maybe that ES would be better or even the new MazdaSpeed. I just wish it had some character to stand out from the rest of the everyday commuters.
Mazda Lemon
Some of these cars may have a manufacturing fault with wheelbase and castor settings. This causes the car to drift and wander, necessitating constant correction on the steering. This results in an exhausting drive over longer distances or in adverse conditions. I see another reviewer has had front end/steering problems and wouldn't be surprised to bet they are the same as on my car. Definitely my first and last Mazda.
