CX5 review
I was extremely happy with the car. My repair expenses were limited to less than $500 over the period of six plus years of ownership. I had to replace two sets of tires and one battery and I had 71,000 miles on the car. My car had the original brakes and when I traded the car the brakes were good for another six to none months. I did change oil and filter at least twice a year in the last seven years

Great Car
Still an excellent car after 7 years.
Great looking, but needs work
I own a 2014 Touring. The new engine is a big improvement over the 2013 - smooth with good power. Fit and finish are excellent with comfortable cloth seats. Problems noted take a lot away from this car: the door ledge is at a right angle rather than rounded like most vehicles and is not well-padded making it extremely uncomfortable to rest left arm while driving. Similarly, the center console/armrest is too low and not well-padded, making resting your right arm/elbow difficult. The base stereo speakers are awful - much worse than stock speakers on other cars I've owned. The projector headlights bounce far more than other cars and are distracting. CX-5 is great looking but needs work.
MAZDA CX-5 GS 2014
1st 1000KM lots of problem encounter. hard start @ extreme cold weather (-20C), Engine Light alarm ON; high fuel consumption 10.5/100-mostly hwy not 7.6/100 city-specs; engine nice accelerations 2.5L engine
MY CX-5 - NEARLY PERFECT
Have driven my Grand Touring 2014 for 5,000 miles now. The good: handles wonderful, brakes are great, visibility excellent, comfort very good. No complaints on build quality, style, or driveability. It's not perfect but was the best choice for me relative to its competition. Major surprise is the driveability of car. I did not really expect it. 2.5 is a little beast (that's good). Major disappointment is the radio, gps, and gas mileage.
You're gonna love this car!!
Got our CX-5 a week and a half ago. We had a Honda Civic prior to the Mazda, and wanted a car that didn't require Vaseline-ing myself to get in and out of. This car meets that requirement and much more. I agree with all of the 5 star reviews for comfort, power, gas mileage, safety, fit and finish, good price, and fun to drive as a bonus. Just like many others, I did my homework, checked out the competition. The CX-5 was the favorite pick. Drove the Rogue SV and was disappointed in the cheap look of the interior, plus the ride was mushy. Considered the CR-V, but Honda's don't live up to the mileage ratings, besides being kind of bland.
Thumbs up!
Love everything about this vehicle!

Had to keep working on it..
70k miles on this one. I use this vehicle for work purpose too so racked up highway miles pretty quick. Mostly around soiutheast region. Expected better reliability from Mazda. I never owned one before. At about 45k miles needed new brakes and rotor resurfacing. Had a leak on the front A/C condenser (which was not the car's fault though). I think some debris flew right into the opening of the front air intake. Should have been a better protection there. At 68K miles my front bearing is failing. Nothing dangerous at this point, but I am getting ready to replace it. The tires (Yokohama) did a good job lasting 70k, but replacing those too now. I love the BSA (blind spot assist) on this car which I think mazda introduced so perfectly on that year. Driving is fun since i think the handling of the car suits my need, but acceleration should have been better. Car needs to be quieter too. I never got more than 28 mpg on the highway, i.e because you never drive at 60 mph on interstates for which that number is rated on.

Childhood dream shattered
I bought the showroom car because it was the only one available in bright blue. I grew up with the Mazda commercials that always ended in the catchy slogan “Mazda, zoom, zoom!” And I had high expectations for this vehicle but alas I was sadly disappointed. I would not buy a Mazda again after my experience with this car. Within 2 years of owning it (at about 40,000 miles) the steering wheel started shaking (vibrating) when gently breaking at high speeds. I took it to a Mazda dealer, and they checked it and had no solution. I thought it might be the break pads so I had those changed… no luck with the problem. The car is an exceptionally bumpy ride, so I took it to the dealership to get the struts replaced. They told me the struts were fine, and recommended I wait. The front headlights panel is confusing and hard to decipher what setting you’re on. The shifter had to be replaced in year two because it just stopped working. And the USB charger stopped working in year one for no reason and I had to get it fixed. I will not but a Mazda car again.

No zoom zoom here
Had mine for 6000 miles, MAZDA! Never again. CX5 is underpowered; the transmission makes it worse. Slow and gear confused at 20-40 MPH, especially in the hills. Must manually shift this slug or nail gas in hills or entering hyway. Don't pass; it dies for a whole second before accelerating. 25 MPG at best. Seat adjuster is awful, nav is cumbersome, the road noise makes it hard to talk at 50 MPH and above, insulation is not there, crank the air and leave it, or drive an oven. Second highest model has no tail lift gate light; WHAT! Shifter easy to knock out of gear/ over to manual. rear wiper grinds. cannot see out the right side well. can't see the gages. no lights on window controls.
great little cuv cx5
I bought my mazda cx5 2014 GT/Tech package a month ago and i'm loving it, Fun to drive, performance wise, more than enough power to handle any terrain, and it handles absolutely great...only issue that i have is road noise and cup holder is awkward...but they were just minor issues...
Drives awesome; poor audio system
I bought this car because I was looking for a balance of performance and efficiency, as well as decent cargo space. I feel Mazda has delivered for me. I have a 6 year old and a 2 year old--they're both in full size car seats that fit fine. Cargo space appears sufficient after three months of use. The car is really fun to drive, and handled this bad NJ snowy winter very, very well. That said, I also love a good audio system, and this one in the CX-5 is a colossal disappointment.
Love the car but the smell is making me sick!
Just bought a 2014 GT AWD. The gas right now is holding steady for me at 22.8 and I've mostly done city driving so I guess that's almost true to stated MPG. I cannot believe how smooth this car drives. I feel like all the stuff that came with it made it a pretty sound deal. I test drove a 2013 against the 2014 and you can instantly tell the difference in power for not much loss in MPG. My problem is the new car smell is making sick, even on short drives. It's still cold and I'm forced to drive with all the windows done. Also, I am just hoping there are no radiation issues. Even though Hiroshima is far enough away, these cars are probably shipped with Nissans.
awesome car!

Great SUV! Don't get caught up on Horse Power.
I usually prefer a vehicle with strong acceleration and sporty handling. I find the CX5 to have adequate acceleration, but anything lacking on the acceleration front is more than made up for by the great Transmission/ Chassis/ Brakes. A great driving experience.

Love it
I love my 2014 Mazda. It's peppy, great handling, and sporty. I would like it to be quieter with road noise, and a little more comfy seating. But it's been awesome. I was thinking of looking at luxury SUVs for that but they don't beat the Mazda drive. The 2017 made improvements there so I am getting a 2017. Just can't beat the Mazda.

Confirmed Mazda Lovers
We traded in our 2005 Mazda Tribute which gave us excellent service but only average gas milage. The 6 speed tranny in the newer models equals 8 to 10 more mpg. It is still happy with regular fuel too.

Great little crossover
My only complaint about our CX 5 is the front drivers seat is not the most comfortable car seat I've ridden on for long drives, but that is a pretty small ding, all things considered. The car looks sharp, is fun to drive and is super reliable. We have owned it for 3 years and have not had any problems at all.

cx-5 2014 best car ive ever baught!
I have my awesome cx-5 2014 and got it 2.5-3 years ago at the dealship right off a lease. Best car I've ever owned! It now has 77,000 miles on it (bought it with 25k) and I've had no problems with it! The only thing I usually have trouble with is the bluetooth hooking up to the pandora (selection on the cars system) but I can just put it on bluetooth only and set up my pandora app on my phone and it works just as good. No biggy. No huge problems with the car, got this car because I needed AWD (it's good in snow), a safe & reliable car. It's been all of those things and I love the blind spot detector. It's seriously a life saver and I plan on having that on my next mazda! Over all rating= great car!

First ever Mazda, may never look back.
Car's great, Tony the tiger wouldn't be disappointed. In 75000 miles not an issue, gets 32 mpg average, accelerates quick enough and has a lot of safety features. Mazdas much better off on it's own

I like the car.
Too bad it really hasn't lived up to its reputation. At 96k miles on my 2014, I change the CV shafts and front bearing hubs (as recommended by Mazda at 100k). 9,000 miles later I spent $2,400 to have the OEM parts replaced again at the dealership. I've kept the car in great condition. Small things are now catching my attention: dashboard rattles, hatchback fairing rattles, tranny not shifting smoothly, charging ports are not charging the same anymore... The dealership isn't servicing the car with pride anymore and has even forced owners to drive 25+ miles to another location for a simple oil change after closing the store I bought the car from. I'm not a happy Mazda owner anymore.

Great car!
I have purchased the Mazda cx-5 from Lee Johnson in Kirkland, WA and so far I love it! I have been looking for a mid size SUV for about a year and really liked this car compared to many others I test drove. The CX-5 Grand Touring edition is sporty, spacious and affordable.
