The only Mazda I have owned are Miata (three cars). I loved them for their performance oriented handling and reliability even when they are over 10 years old. Therefore, CX5 was the first crossover vehicle I researched when I started looking for a bigger vehicle to replace my last Miata. I did comparison with other make and models over and over and I always came to the same conclusion. CX-5. Some competitors were ranked higher than CX5 by Consumer Reports. However, none of them had better gas mileage or had lower MSRP when equipped similarly. I went and traded in my Miata for a CX5 after a couple of test drives. And after 4 months of ownership, I have no regrets. Mazda hit a home run

We purchased this CX-5 from a dealership with 35,000 miles. Seemed ok during the short test ride, but after owning the car and riding for longer distances, we found the passenger seat to be very uncomfortable. Also, the headrests were tilted too far forward and caused neck aches. We talked to the dealership about these issues, but they offered no solutions. I had to remove the passenger seat from the vehicle, unhook the leather upholstery, and cut away some of the seat foam from both sides of the seat cushion. Had to repeat this procedure a second time to achieve the desired comfort. Clamped the headrests in my bench vice and bent each support rod until they fit right. Now the car is comfortable, but one shouldn't have to go through all of that. Also had to adjust the headlights up to see adequately on dims. The owners manual gave no instructions to do this - thank goodness for google. Just a few other minor gripes: Mazda should have included a water temperature gauge. An ammeter would be good too. The GPS navigation system is NOT user friendly and the voice control is an exercise in frustration. The Bose sound system is not as good as the stock radio in my Honda Accord. Still trying to figure out the door locks - push the button, still can't get in... push it again, you might get in... and when you walk away from the car, it sometimes locks automatically and sometimes doesn't. You just never know. So overall, we like the car. It's finally comfortable, handles great, is fun to drive, does great in snow or rain, gets about 26 average mpg and is very reliable. I also installed a hitch, and it tows a trailer well. Would I buy another one?..... well, maybe.

I just purchased the 2014 Mazda CX5 Grand Touring and am thoroughly impressed with everything I see. The styling is far above the other similar SUV's of Honda, Subaru, Toyota and Chevrolet. Before buying I looked at each model based on price, styling, gas mileage, specifications and all the standard features of each model. In my opinion, the Mazda came out ahead in all categories. My first tank of gas came in at 27.9 miles per gallon driving a mixture of highway and local miles. I would recommend this SUV to anyone that wants a fun vehicle to drive and still have good gas mileage.

I Leased a Mazda CX - 5 2014 Grand Touring during Acceleration car jerks and slams into gear. Mazda Techs couldn't diagnose the problem after several Repair appointments. Lease is up Oct.2016 got riddance my worst car ever.

I bought my car in Oct 2013, and it was ok for about 5 months. I switched from a Toyota Highlander (which I absolutely LOVED) to save on gas. While I realized gas savings over the Highlander, I am not getting the gas mileage they promised. I average 26 mpg tops! On top of that, my vehicle had to be at the service center on 3 occasions, all for the same problem. My push button start would not work correctly. They still haven't fully fixed the problem. The other problems are road noise and no interior storage, and not enough cup holders, which made for a very long trip with my kids. All in all, while it has saved some $ on gas, I don't think I would not buy another Mazda again.
