Good buy for your $
I love my mazda 3GT. (2.3) It's a great car for someone who is single or with a small family. It HANDLES VERY WELL..the manual transmission shifts nicely and the power-performance is surprising for a smaller car. I drove a a civic (exc SI), Corolla and Calliber and for about the same price ...it is by far a better buy!!!!
Great Car
I purchased my Mazda 3 Grand Touring in June and have already put 12k miles on it. It has been extremely reliable and a pleasure to drive. It is surprisingly quick for a little 4cylinder. I have the 5 speed manual and couldn't imagine it with an auto, even with the manual mode on the auto. Brakes are amazing as has been said. Interior quality also top notch. The Rockford Fosgate stereo that came in my girlfriend's Sentra is considerably better then the Bose stereo in my car. Gas mileage is better then most have said on here and I drive it pretty hard. I get about 26-28 in the city and about 29-31 highway. Drove the competition and nothing really came close in comparison in this price range.

Loaded for the money
I cant believe the bells and whistles this car comes with and still is incredibly low priced, add to that the build quality, you cant go wrong. This car is great for a first time buyer or for someone who realizes that BMW has very little on this mazda.
Excellent Value
My Mazda 3 was actually the last car on my list to test drive. I rejected the Mini S, Camry, Accord, Mitsu's, Dodge, Ford, Audi 4, and Volvo, all for various issues and reasons. The 3 was a delight to drive from the moment I turned the key. Sport suspension, quick turn-in, super brakes, smooth engine and powertrain, quality build throughout. What's not to love? The copper-red paint and pleasantly good looks bring many compliments. As can be expected for sport sedans, the ride can feel noticeably taut over tar strips and rough roads, but it never loses its composure, inspiring confidence in even the most timid drivers. The engine comes on strongest while manually shifting the slick automatic near 4000 rpm.
Yup - I love it
I replaced a 1999 Audi A4 ($35K+) with a new Mazda3, GT, Bose, Nav. This car has more features than the A4, is just as much fun to drive and cost almost half as much!
