I bought my 98 Continental with 150,000 miles on it knowing it had a transmission problem. I had replaced a torque converter I was lucky I could do it myself I had a friend that made torque converters he built a very heavy duty one for my car. Besides that this car had no problems. At 243,000 miles it still had the original alternator water pump shocks AC compressor rear airbags that compressor three of the original coils all the hoses were original and the seven years I owned it I spent no more than 500 out outside maintenance that does not include tires brakes it was a beautiful car and it was a great car

This has been a great car for the past 5 years. Repairs have been minimal re: Heater core went when we 1st bought it.$600 dollars to fix. Mileage is 130,000. We like the size and comfort. Gas mileage compares to a much smaller and lighter vehicle. We get 22mpg. around town and we have gotten as high as 30mpg highway!

No more cramped bone jarring rides for me! I love this car! Pearlescent Ivory with fabric roof (how do you care for that anyway?) When they demonstrated all the options I could hardly keep from giggling like a school- boy! I've never owned a car so nice. It has an distinctive look and and elegant ride. I was amazed how affordable a used Lincoln is.

Second Lincoln I've Had

Our first Lincoln was a 1987 and we traded it in for the 1998 only because we had put almost 185000 miles on it. We really never had a problem with the 1987 except for replacing the front and rear airbags. (ouch $1,500.00) for for front and same for rear. Our 1998 we have had only 1 major problems is all, (replaced front sway bar) other than that we just have done regular maintenance (oil changes every 3000 miles, rotate tire every 4000 miles and etc.) Always garage kept and washed and waxed regularly. This car rides and drives like a dream. Plenty of power when you need it and you seem to float down the highway.(Because of it being white lots of people on interstate think it's a cop car.)

Comfort without style

Absolutely comfortable car to drive. Fantastic fuel mileage for a big car with a V8 (22 mpg combined)! Not much to look at, but reliable and comfortable. Will do whatever you ask it to. I will get rid of it when it dies. I will probably cry a lot.
