We traded in with the RS450H after owning the car for 8 years and put 80,000 miles. Other than oil changes, tyre changes and put gas in tank, we had absolutely no maintenance issues with this car - just amazingly reliable car. That is one of the many other reasons we bought the NX300h. The gas milage is great. we are getting about 35 mpg combined compared to 23 mpg of the RX450h.

Happy with my hybrid NX300h

Dan, 07/11/2019

I wanted a hybrid crossover, and checked the Toyota RAV4 first. It was a bit loud and unrefined. I told the salesman I was also considering the Lexus hybrids. He mentioned that they are a different class of autos. Once I drove the Lexus NX300h, I knew what he meant! The 300NX is quiet and refined. Sometimes I can't tell if on elec., or gas, or both unless I am looking at thee instrument panel.. The car is great whether city or highway driving. I drove to a baseball game in Denver, and the traffic was terrible - however the mileage was 36.1 when I started out, and 36.2 when I got to the ballpark!!! I have checked mileage on two fill ups. I got a 37.8 in the city, and 32.0 mileage on the highway (Denver to Albuquerque).. Both figures are better than the EPA estimates. The touch controls are difficult at times, and hope to get better with time. So far I am a happy customer!

My Daily Driver NX300h

Robert S, 08/04/2018

I traded my used 2015 GX460 for this vehicle. The GX was simply too big and the gas mileage too low to justify keeping this car (especially as I have a 2016 RC350 sports car that I use as my fun car). I bought the NX as my daily driver, and decided to get the hybrid so as to have an SUV that gets at least 30mpg overall. The car is excellent in every respect except for two areas. Acceleration is poor, especially when getting onto the highway. But once the NX gets up to speed it maintains it's speed well. Gas mileage was good the first few months, getting at 30 mpg on each tank of gas (my best was 35.3 mpg). But in the last month the mileage has dropped to between 27 to 28 mpg. I'm still happy with the vehicle, but in hindsight would probably have gotten the gas only version instead of paying the premium for the hybrid. Regardless, the NX is an overall great SUV and do not regret buying one.

Love the Hybrid!

This is our first hybrid and we love it! When we shopped for the new car, we had four key criteria - a crossover to sit high enough and easy to get in and out, highly fuel efficient, Apple CarPlay, and reliable! Lexus NX300h beats others and wins! It’s very refined, quiet, comfortable, and luxury! It uses battery to power the car in low speed. With navigation and premium package, the 10.3 inch screen shines beautifully especially when Apple CarPlay is used for navigation with Google Maps/Waze. The MPG achieved was excellent for a SUV - 31.4 for about 400 miles compared to 21 for Acura MDX in winter months. Highly recommended!

I purchased the 2019 NX300H 13 months ago and this is an awesome vehicle with outstanding styling and technology. It has all of the bells & whistles, including the power rear door sensor, as well as the Premier & Navigational packages. This is my first hybrid, and I am pleased to say that I am receiving 37 mph combined driving using regular gas. It has three options to choose from : Economy, normal and sport, and each one gives a different dimension of how you drive. This is absolutely a fun car to drive if you utilize all of its features.

Lexus wins over BMW, Mercedes and Audi compact SUV

soniaO, 01/24/2018

I wanted to downsize to a compact SUV after driving larger vehicles while raising my children. After several test drives, it came down to BMW and Lexus. I liked the looks and performance of the BMW, but the comfort of the Lexus outperformed the BMW. I want and need comfort. A recent road rage experience tested the NX 300h’s automatic braking ability. The driver in front of me abruptly stopped his vehicle illegally on a highway. The LEXUS stopped on a dime, keeping me and the jerk who had stopped safe. While it would have been nice to have 2-driver seat memory like our LEXUS ES350, I’m the primary driver who drives the NX 300h 99% of the time, so it wasn’t an important feature to me. Also, I disliked the automatic wipers on our ES350. We live along the coast where the air is often moist. No amount of fine tuning would keep the automatic wipers turning on in thin fog. We shut off that function. Glad it wasn’t to pester me on the NX 300h. I like the driving assist feature that automatically slows down my car when approaching slower vehicles. I also like that I can easily bypass that function by accelerating and pass them. Everything functional in the LEXUS works great. I love my NX 300h. My only two beefs have to do with looks: in an effort to appear luxurious, LEXUS copied BMW to an extent for the interior. The little bit of “luxury”on the dash looks small and silly, compared to the entire sweep of luxury on the BMW X1 & X3’s dashboard. Also, instead of smooth lines, the NX300h has odd rear lights that stick out from the car, reminiscent of the 1950’s fins. I wonder how long it will take for falling rocks to break one of my rear lights.

Edmunds needs to do better research. The 2019 edition of the NX300h is quite different from the 2018. October production will begin the CarPlay era for this model. Apple recently added both Waze and Google maps to its suite of apps. You could buy a multimedia version that would offer 4 navigation systems without the need for the factory system. The early model also has an updated version of Scout GPS with mapping while tethered. The factory navigation is the cloud based generation 10 with self updating maps and cloud sourced traffic. Alexa capability is also on the horizon. Want a smaller crossover? The UX urban explorer debuts in December and is CarPlay ready. Both the NX and UX use regular 87 Octane.

Check features BEFORE you buy

This is the 5th Lexus car I bought. When purchasing the NX I assumed certain features, which I considered to be basic for a Lexus car, would be included. THAT IS NOT THE CASE!! For instance, I was considering an NX 300, but it did not have driver's seat memory. I had to buy an NX 300 H, which the salesman said was top-of-the-line, for over $45,000 MSRP, to get driver's seat memory and the parking sensors. However, after I got it, I realized this car does not turn on the wipers automatically when it rains (a feature I already had in a 2005 RX 330). The car also does not have the heads-up display (a feature I already had in a 2010 RX 450H). In summary, for the NX Lexus is delivering a basic car which does not have the features you usually expect to get in a Lexus car. So, check what you are going to get BEFORE buying an NX.

Very comfortable and reliable car. If you are looking for a quiet ride in comfortable seats, this is a car for you. However, boot space could be bigger and dampers could be softer (when using 18inch wheels). I think this car doesn’t have problem with real world dynamics, because it’s transmission reacts in a blink of a second.

Missing one feature

This is my wife’s car. She loves it. However, we traded a 2016 Lincoln MKX 2.7 twin turbo for it. The Lincoln was blisteringly fast. The Lincoln averaged 22 MPG. But approaching 100k trouble free miles. The Lexus, maybe 30 with lackluster performance. The biggest disappointment is the lack of memory seats. I drive the car, maybe, twice per week-just to fuel and wash it. Memory seats were a nice feature. As I mentioned, the fuel economy is not what was expected but overall it’s a nice car. I think the Lincoln infotainment system was easier to use. These days, we have to milk every MPG we can and the Lexus has delivered, for the most part. Just being honest here.

I got my car. Red with a beige interior. It is beautifully appointed and I am familiar with the TouchPad for the entertainment section. The trunk is not big, but adequate for the size of the car.

Very Happy With The NX Hybrid

After owning many..more expensive Lexus models; both car and SUV, this NX hybrid is so satisfying. We highly recommend, we had a gasoline 2020 NX 200t that was superb but needed premium fuel and was missing desirable options. With this 2018 that we bought pre owned, we have it all- all wheel drive, Nav heated & ventilated seats etc etc…Exterior LED lighting is beautiful, quality is high all around. 30 plus MPG always on REGULAR gas. Power folding mirrors - The NX could easily become the top seller over the RX, more refined and built in Japan. The space is limited for cargo but four passengers are very comfortable with reclining rear seats. Test drive before buying X3, RDX or a money pit MB. Don’t even consider Cadillac or Infiniti.

OFF Road with the Lexus NX 300 H

I have grown up off-road. Was very disappointed with the Lexus RX H off road. The Hybrid System kept over heating and the vehicle had very little traction. The NX however was very impressive. AWD is standard and the vehicle climbs very well, traction was amazing. When off road, the silence of the electric engine was very helpful creeping up on wildlife. Did not have to stress on fuel levels as I was moving at a very deliberate pace using the electric motors when possible. It's limited width is also a benefit when maneuvering small forest roads lined with trees and boulders. I slept in the vehicle 2 nights and I am 5'11 very comfortable with a sleeping pad. Too quiet inside had to open the sun roof and cover with some mosquito netting to hear the wilderness. I even traversed a a couple of water hazards with no difficulty. The main issue was ground clearance, I could have used 3 more inches. The vehicle was loaded with gear, so I could have saved a 1/2 inch or so by leaving it behind, but I was out there in the wilderness so I needed water, provisions and food. I would not recommend driving this vehicle off road unless you are an experienced off road driver. Looking at upgrading the tires for my next trip to try and gain some additional clearance, thought about a lift as well but not sure what that would do to the sophisticated computer systems on board.

Great dealership ( Park Place) to work with and David Parks was wonderful. Car meets expectations. Used to a Venza (tiny bit larger) so storage space in Lexus IS limited. USB ports are several, but all located in console glove box(not super convenient). Great gas mileage being a hybrid...over 500 miles per tank!

This car is too expensive because is the same as Toyota R4. I bought this car 6 months ago and the market value dropped almost 30% until now it means the purchase value for this car doesn't fare. in fact, this car most of the time use gas and on the road doesn't good handling. I don't recommend it to anyone to buy it.

This is my second Lexus NX 300 H 2019, unfortunately, it is the second defective vehicle I got, it has the same major defect, not sure why Lexus keep building defective cars, Lexus of Escondido was able to buy it back from me the first defective car and now I got a second defective car, it does exactly the same, dinging sound when you come up to the vehicle and you open your door dinging sound, when you stop your vehicle turn the car off, engine off, and open the door, the dinging sound comes on, however when you stop the car, keep the engine on, Open the door, no dinging sound, it is pretty dangerous as you could walk away from your car with the engine on because no dinging sound, there is some major major problem with the software it works backwards. As of when the car is running and you open the door the dinging sound should be, but when you turn the car off and open the door there should not be dinging sound, as it is very annoying, huge inconvenience as you could not be on the phone nor arriving late at night as you going to be waking up all your neighbors, so to avoid that you have to leave the car around noon but then you could walk away and forget to turn it off, again Lexus has been building defective cars, it is my second one exactly the same model and the year and exactly same problem. Would not recommend this model to anyone until they going to fix the problem! UPDATE: I had a Lexus RX 300 RX 330 LX 470. bought 2019 NX 300 H the worst car I have ever owned. Very noisy, you can hear all the road noise, small cargo space, windshield wipers you cannot adjust when you spray it sprays all over your clean car, windshield wipers never worked good from day one, this is ridiculous it's was almost $50,000 car. Gives you only 28 miles per gallon average nothing close to what they are stating. I was hoping that hybrid will give me a much better mileage but they didn't, I'm so glad that I got rid of that car!
