It's a Jeep!

This is not a city commuter mobile, nor a BMW (I traded in my 328Xi for this!) It is an outdoors persons dream; fun to drive with the top down, able to go nearly anywhere, it was designed for the outdoors! After watching the video, the soft top is easy to put up or down, taking off the hard top is a breeze. Acceleration is fine, my unlimited keeps up with every other car on the highway entering the entrance ramp. Shifting is easy, arm and leg positions comfortable. It sits up high off the ground, but my mother in law who is 80 lovers the ride and can get in without a problem. Controls are easy to use, and make sense, blue tooth and voice recognition work fine with my iPhone (which doubles as my GPS system). 130N radio with Sirius XM sounds very good, although a little weak in the base. The long baseline of the unlimited helps in inroad ride performance. I'm in love with the vehicle already!

This is my first Jeep. I choose the Rubicon so I can play in the dirt again. Enjoy adventures, and experience the great outdoors. I have no regrets in purchasing this vehicle. Lots of accessories available to pimp it out with. I added decals, bumpers, lights, grab handles, and a winch so far. And I've only bought it six weeks ago! Still investigating lift kits and tires. This vehicle makes me young again.

Horrible fuel mileage, check engine light came on after 2 weeks of ownership, dealer didn’t fix the issue for a year, it would turn off in reverse, tires noise was awful, who ever designed u-connect who be tar and feathered, GPS sucks! Shame on you Garmin! But I loved it, it only works well when you’re on off-road.

I just traded my grand Cherokee in for a new 2016 wrangler unlimited.. I love it!! Yes it is a little bouncy and it does not have all the features that my grand Cherokee had but you don't buy a wrangler for luxury! It does however have Bluetooth, power doors and windows, an awesome stereo, touch screen. It is by far the coolest vehicle that I ever owned.. So glad that I finally have one of my own!!

This isn't a suv, this isn't a lexus, This isn't a ride for just anyone. Its a JEEP! Its for the greatest people on earth. I have two Jeeps. a 2015 unllimted and a 2016 unlimted. My wife loves hers and I loved hers so much. I bought me one also. If you want the most custom ride to go anywhere on earth. This is the ride. It has a community in its self. Like no other. It's a great buy for great people. try one. then buy one. When you try one. you have to relize if your a city girl/boy that this is a jeep. not a Mercedes. But with 35inch tires 4 inch I can drive 80 down the road witht he radio on 12 and carry a conversation without yelling. its an awesome ride ya'll. Cheers and enjoy.

Oh So Pretty!

I had been drooling over what I called the “4-door” Jeep for over five years. Finally, knowing absolutely nothing about jeeps other than they look Bad Ass and they are Oh soooo Pretty, I went out and bought a brand new Oscar Mike. It’s Gun Metal grey and probably the coolest looking vehicle I personally have ever seen. If you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m a female. With that being said, can someone tell me what the heck I actually bought. All I know is that it’s a Jeep Wrangler Oscar Mike. I can’t seem to be able to figure out if it’s a limited edition, unlimited, sport, etc. I’ve looked online and even called my local dealership with little success. As a matter of fact, the guy at the dealership sounded almost as confused as me. (WHAT!) I should mention that because I went out and bought a Jeep without my husband, and paid around $41,000, I’m a little embarrassed not even knowing what I paid for. He did know I was planning on buying a Jeep. Just not that day and at that price point. Seriously, without too many harsh words, can someone please help me figure out/tell me what kind of Jeep I own. Thanks in advance, Jamie

If you are 65 yrs old practice getting in/out, practice knowing the dimensions of your jerp for manuervering and realize you can see plenty when you back up - use the rearview and side mirrors as well as the back window. You wont miss anything!

I know it is a jeep and I did buy it to drive on the beach but the lack of a back up camera is frustrating. The headlights are to dim and do not light up the road well. The driver's seat and ride is great, but the front passenger seat is uncomfortable. (did not believe my wife about this until we went on a trip and she drove a 2 hour leg).

If you buy a warranty you'd better be sure to take it to one place every single time and keep a spreadsheet of the work done. I have serviced my jeep regularly and now it is having problems. Print off any warranty requirements and make a spreadsheet to track every service milestone. I'm having to go back 5 years and find paperwork! I could kick myself but I travel a lot and had to take it to two other places besides the dealership. They think I am crazy for asking for oil change paperwork from 5 years ago. It has 150K miles on it but I take very good care of it. I know of two other owners with this same year and type that are having the same issues. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on buying an Easy care warranty!!!!!! My 2016 Jeep Wrangler needs all four cams, rockers, lifters, upper and lower intake valves and valve cover gaskets. I bought it new. They denied my claim for a missed oil change in 2018 I provided that paperwork. They denied my claim for one in 2017. I provide that paperwork. They deny my claim for one in 2016!!! I provide that paperwork. Deny deny deny!!!! That’s all they do do not buy this coverage!!! Check the reviews on the additional coverage and buy the warranty from a reputable place. If I had checked the reviews I would have known better. I have contacted the company directly. I have placed a complaint with the BBB. My jeep has been at the dealership since December 17, 2020. The dealership is trying to help me as much as possible. They have been great. Today is 1/19/2021 still no response from the warranty company. My jeep is still at the dealership.

One would think that in a 2016 vehicle with a premier electronics package that cost extra, that the electronic tuner would get all of the Sirius radio channels, but NO..... only up to 220. Absolutely ridiculous. I had to immediately go and purchase an aftermarket system. One would also think that in a vehicle that the top comes off of that the manufacturer would use marine grade leather on the seats.... but NO..... Guess I'll be replacing those too. Come on Jeep where did the quality go?

As cool and fun as this vehicle is, it is also a gas hog and terribly overpriced. It is a rough ride, hard to close the doors and small. On the flip side, it is a ton of fun to decorate and personalize. Accessories are inexpensive, for the most part. It is not my only vehicle so if I don't feel like wobbling down the road, I drive something else. Other Jeep drivers give the "Jeep wave", which is fun. When my pre-teen daughter is ready to drive, it will be hers because she loves it. It will be perfect for her.

The last Jeep I owned was in 1979. Of course, much improved and it was a blast back then. Not only can easily be converted to a convertible, but with removing the doors, it's almost like a 4W motorcycle. Great engine power and comfortable. A little pricey, but all manufacturers are today.

Had been looking for a new car for a few months. Always like the look of the Jeep Wrangler. Was worried about past reliability and engine problems, especially since I had only driven foreign cars for the last 20 years and had always been pleased with them. We usually maintain vehicles very well, drive them for 10+ years and expect to get 200,000 miles out of them. I did a lot of research and thinking about the Wrangler. After reviewing other Jeep owner's experiences, the upgrades that the Wrangler has had in transmission and engine performance, and deciding to purchase a very comprehensive and fair-priced lifetime warranty from Mopar, I bought a new 2016 Wrangler Unlimited w/ automatic, and hardtop. Have only had it a month, but I am very pleased with the vehicle and overall experience. It is a fun vehicle and everybody notices it, likes it, and comments that they would like to have one.

Had to do research on Oscar Mike significance. Like the idea of part of price supports USO. It has all the right equipment right out of the box. I wasn't searching for Freedom Edition, but wanted a red 2 door and this is what came up. It seems that Unlimited models are what every one wants, probably the way to go, but I'm a traditionalist. I miss my 2005 TJ I just wish I could have them both. That said, I love my firecracker red 2 door JK. My Jeep history goes back to a 46 cj-2, a 74 cj-5, a 79 cj-7, a 05 tj and my 16 JK. Loved them all and wish I could've kept them all. My !is for a 2016 JK Wrangler, not a 2015 model. No biggie, but just want to be correct!

This vehicle does not handle roads well that have twists and turns to them. (You literally have to go 15 mph so the vehicle doesn't 'skip or hop' sideways across the road while people behind you are honking their horns for you to go faster!). I never would have purchased it had I known this ahead of time. I knew you had to take on and off ramps a bit slower but performance on a winding paved road is really bad.

It's the only thing on the road that will drive along side the road with equal comfort and control! I also like how the tires give you plenty of warning that you're getting to aggressive in the corners, and its the only car i've driven that I'm happy driving the speed limit in (saves on fines) only problems are 1. you end up waving at every other jeep on the road 2. people come up to you just to tell you how nice you're jeep is 3. When you park it somewhere you come back to find 2-3 or more parked next to it. But these are only problems if you're not a jeep person!

I drove/own many cars.. miata, forester, golf, elantra, corolla, yaris, echo, mazda 5, mazda protege, grand vitara, smart4-2, dodge journey, sportage, civic hybrid, even a big harley davidson.. The jeep wrangler unlimited automatic is definitely my favorite , harley close in second place. The wrangler is such a great fun multipurpose vehicle.. its a truck, a suv, a daily car, a convertible, a true offroad, a great look at my original car thing. Almost everyday people compliment my wrangler. Especially when the doors and roof are completely removed from the vehicle. Ok, removing doors and roof require some effort. Especially the doors. As for the hard top roof, you will need a friend to help you out or use a hoist system. But once you strip the jeep, it turns into an offroad convertible 4x4 dune buggy with 4 door entry. All other cars are just dull boring after you try a wrangler.. this kind of open air experience is something unique. Especially if you have a form of claustrophobia. The wrangler is an Open air experience a la dune buggy on stéroïde Ok you will never beat anyone on acceleration with a jeep.. but at the end of the day, only a jeep owner will be able to witness pure freedom Losing one star only because the mpg is horrible on the jku and jlu is very expensive.. most of the annoying stuff found on the jk have been fixed on the jl. But the jl is really expensive.. Another reason it is losing 1 star is because Jeep coporate don't listen and don't work with the community...they don't listen to their costumers... most modifications require to modify other things.. like upgrading tires require that you have to upgrade the spare tire carrier and the tailgate hinges. Lifting, require so many stuff to be change. There are also know recall issues.. Will i buy another one? I would if i had the money Is it the best cat i drove.. not sporty, but for offroading.. you can't beet that price

The vehicles looks sold me even though i had read the reliability reports. At 70k like clockwork the vehicle started falling apart. I was warned about this. The good thing is that the repairs are cheap. The U joints had to get replaced at 50k. The steering bar system collapsed at 65k. Vehicle is currently at 80k the pulleys are making fanning noise. The vehicle steering is dangerous i wont let my teenager drive it. If its Icy the understeering and oversteering correction is treacherous. I will trade the vehicle in ASAP. The death wobble is serious an inexperienced driver will flip this vehicle. Just you tube it. We also have a landcruiser and both vehicles have solid front and rear axles. The difference between a Toyota and Wrangler is substantial. NEVER WRANGLER.

I purchased a new JK Sport in 2016. Within the first week, the door lock fell out of the driver's door. Then the check engine light came on and went off again soon after. Once colder weather came the jeep would stall when you put it in gear first thing in the morning (automatic transmission). It doesn't matter how long I leave it warm up. Until I drive it around for a while the engine will stall a few times first thing in the morning. In the summer it doesn't do this. From what I've read it's a common problem and has something to do with the torque converter. A few years in it developed a VERY soft brake pedal. I've had the garage bleed the brakes several times with no improvement. Again I've read this is a common problem. The check engine light continues to come on a few times per year and then goes out on its own. At the 6-year 100,000 km mark I brought it in for the annual safety inspection and it needed $2500 in repair. Rear brake drums, calipers, axel seals, ball joints, etc. The soft brake pedal issue remains (the pedal goes all the way to the floor). Now the wipers have stopped working. Well, sometimes they work, and sometimes they do not. Also, the red airbag warning light is on. Sometimes it goes out and then it will come back on again. The jeep is a fun vehicle to drive in the snow, and nice with the top off in the summer. We have done some mild off-roading which is nice but I definitely would not buy another Jeep, Dodge, or Chrysler product after owning this. UPDATE: I bought a 2016 Wrangler Sport brand new. The good? Fun with the top down, fun off road, fun in the Winter. The bad? Very poorly made. Within a few weeks of ownership the passenger door lock fell out. Luckily I found it and had the dealer put it back in. Then the check engine light came on. It later went out but comes on again a few times per year. Code says multiple misfires or something like that. When it's cold the jeep will stall if you put it in reverse. Once warmed up and driven for a while this goes away. The airbag warning light is on. Something to do with the passenger seat. The wipers work sometimes. Sometimes they don't work. Haven't figured it out yet. With just over 100000km the jeep needed $2500 worth of repair to pass the safety inspection. Ball joints, leaky axle seals, brakes, drums, etc. The jeep is fun at times but I would never buy another Chrysler product after owning this Wrangler. I'm 50 years old and have owned many new vehicles from different brands. This is the first time I own one that I would consider a lemon.

Buy a Wrangler if you want to have fun!

2016 Jeep Wrangler Willys Wheeler 2dr SUV 4WD (3.6L 6cyl 6M)
1 of 3 people found this review helpful

I have a 2016 JK Willy's Wheeler, 2 door, premium soft-top. No power options and base radio without navigation. Bought new and already have 8,000 miles on it. Can easily cruise at 80 mph on the highway, but stopping distance is scary. Keep enough room between you and the vehicles ahead to be safe if going at high speed in the Wrangler. There are also many blind spots and its a short wheelbase on the 2 door so lane changes must be well calculated. Soft top and sun rider are easy to operate. Takes only a few minutes and can easily be done alone. Front seats are very comfortable on long rides. Gas mileage on highways if driving in the 3000 rpm zone is approximately 16 mpg for long trips. If you stay at 2,500 rpm, you can squeeze 20 mpg out of the Willy's. Headlights are not up to par and they barely do the job. Base radio sucks at highway speeds, but adequate in the city. It does get loud and drafty if you are on the open road and it's windy. The loudness in the cabin is something you get used to because it's so much fun to drive. I also have a 2015 Toyota Camry XLE V6, but I still prefer to take out my Jk for long drives. The 2 door has very little storage space unless you fold up the back seat. A few months after I bought the Jeep, we had our first big rainstorm and I found that water had leaked into the jeep soaking the front and rear carpeting. The dealer performed what is called a water test and fixed the problem by replacing all door and cowl seals. The Wrangler isn't perfect and has it's flaws, but I still love mine and so does everyone else. Getting a Wrangler with too many frills makes no sense. If you think horse riding is fun and free, you will love the Wrangler.

Love driving this vehicle. I only wish the Tech was upgraded. Needs LED headlighting, Navagation needs higher resolution display and upgraded software to better interact with cell technology.

If you want the wind in your hair and great off-road vehicle, the Rubicon is tops. It handles fine on road, but you have to actively drive it, as it likes to "road walk" a bit. Overall I'm extremely happy with my purchase and find it to be a comfortable ride.

I drove this for three days as a rental and it was by far the worst car of any type I have ever driven. Hard to handle. Incredibly poor interior layout. Uncomfortable to the max. Poor mileage. Difficult to get into and out of. Large and clunky size. No backup camera. No USB ports. Odd controls. Literally everything about this screamed "return me early".

Its Jeep - rides a little rough but goes anywhere. Truly a fun vehicle and if you pull the back seat out there is a ton of cargo room in the two door!

My Siberian Husky sisters love riding in back with rear seats folded down flat, & putting their heads out rear windows! Fairly good ride on highway if under 80 mph. Great handling in winter, particularly with 4 wheel drive engaged. Good Alpine Stereo option with base in rear deck, by tailgate. Navigation system is nice, & leather seats are nice & easy to clean up.

1st Wrangler! 2016 Jeep

From what I read about Wranglers, the 3.6L V6 is one of the best engines they've put in this Jeep. My first full tank of gas gave me 20.9 mpg and it's very responsive. (although I'm not heavy footed) The soft-top is much quieter than I was expecting. Buying used, I couldn't be too fussy, it came with the 3.21 rear end, so I won't be putting bigger tires on it. Luckily I think it looks fine with the 29" tall factory tires. I've only had it a short time, 400+ miles, but so far I love it! I should have bought one years ago! Hopefully after a year or two my review will be just as positive.

We were looking for a Jeep to tow behind our RV. This 2016 Wrangler was what we were looking for. The dealer was helpful, and our experience was seamless. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that the tires needed replacing which I took care of right away. We expected to have a few things we needed to deal with because we bought it as is. Not a deal breaker. Overall, good experience.

Here’s my wife’s opinion! Cupholders are kinda small? Says that about me too! And I’m 6’3 lol. Gas mileage is not great but I am running 35s most the time on the highway 65 to 75 mph get about 13 to 14 mpg. Out on the trail he goes everywhere I point it!

After 7 years I love my BABY more than when I first bought it. It affords me safety and security. It looks new as my husband waxes it often. No one believes it is 7 years old! Costs very minimal in repairs and service. Receives lots of looks and compliments. Just put on new tires after 28,000 miles.

This vehicle, while somewhat pricey, has passed my expectations for comfort and ride. The fuel mileage is average and seems to get the best mileage running around 60mph. After owning it for a full year now I am very satisfied with it.
