Once I had a Wrangler.....Now a Liberty!
With a wife and two children, a Wrangler was no longer an option. I love the entire Jeep line. Living in the Northeast, the winters have become colder with more snow than I can remember! The Long Island beaches are tamed by the Liberty's 4x4 suspension, 3.7 V6 engine, and 10.1 inch clearance. The interior is more "grown-up" and functional for family life than my 97 Wrangler. Jeep has another winner!
I love the Jeep
I bought the jeep with the idear of a well made form of transportation with a long history starting with world war 2. I am very happy with my choice of transportation the four wheel drive is grate. I have the qureda track four wheel drive with six cylender eigen and automatic transmission. I traded in a Toyota Rav 4 which was all wheel drive. The four wheel drive on the Jeep is a lot better than I had on the toyota. I am happy with my choice of a car.

Great Jeep, Trail Rated is everything!
I owned a Sahara, wanted more comfort. And I recieved it, with the knowledge I could go where my Sahara preformed, and it did very well. Best move this year. Had sports cars but the road is your domain, this you can go almost anywhere. Love to ride in style and go off road as well in style. Best of both worlds. You can not lose with this small SUV.
Jeep Liberty 2002
The only maintenance needed so far has been a brake job. It is a comfortalble ride for a tough little car.
Big disappointment
After a month of owning my brand new jeep liberty, I had to take it to the dealership to repair a transmission leak. The car looks good on the outside but was sluggish when driving on an incline and slow in accelerating. I expected to keep my new car for 10 years as I kept my previous car which was not a jeep for 13 years. Needless to say, I am deeply disappointed and would now like to trade my car after owning it for just a month.
Get an all Black one - we wave!
I installed the tornado air system and put in a K&N air filter. I also use synthetic oil-- all this has bumped me from original MPG of 14.5 to an acceptable 17.1 MPG. The V6 engine is very strong and responds immediately when you stomp it with a downshift from 4th to 2nd. Stock speakers were bad-- replaced head unit with pioneer 3 pre- outs, put in Polk Momo coaxials and components in all 4 doors w/ dynamat powered by an eclipse amp, and have a Kicker 12" SoloBaric L7 sub in the back (it's a 4ohm w/ dual voice coils and a sealed enclosure) the sub is powered by a rockford 500 punch amp. The Liberty drives flawlessly in the rain, great big tread/goodyear tires
My favorite
I have found that my Jeep Liberty sport is both fun and has the best fuel economy I have ever had in a vehicle. I just plain enjoy driving it. My husband even loves to drive it more than his full size truck.
Give me Liberty or give me death! HA!
love it!
my jeeps review
I have enjoyed my Libety from day 1, it performs excellent and I love the boudy style. I beliveve that I will be trading up in a couple of years, for a newer liberty. They are just too cool.
Never buy an exploder again!!!!!!!
I traded in my explorer for this tiny thing that they call a JEEP and I will never go back. This vehicle is just awesome, ford cant touch this. Gas is a problem but its worth the extra money to be able to drive around in my JEEP.
my first jeep
2 weeks after purchase, made it thru 2 feet of snow xmas morning NO PROBLEM! Great in central NY winters. Easily goes off road to favorite fishing spots, and fits 4 dogs to boot. Mileage could be better, window controls takes getting used to and the glove box is to small. Overall, I love my jeep!
Still Needs Work
In total, not the worst SUV I've owned, but still has room for improvement. Thirsty, lacking interior storage areas, and mediocre acceleration are common complaints that I agree with. Mechanically the Liberty is subject to bad ball joints, computer problems, rear hatch opening at random and bad ring and pinion whine. This last is my biggest gripe, as Jeep insists it is normal and acceptable for the Liberty to make a loud whining sound at 60-70 mph and refuses to try and fix it. Very irritating and sufficient to keep me from ever buying another Jeep.
New Jeep owner
This is my first jeep and if the liberty continues the way it has, this will not be my last. We traded in a suburban for this jeep. I was nervous at first, but absolutely love the jeep. That is a peppy little v-6 under the hood. The interior is great. It is one tough looking little sucker on the outside too. Gas mileage is about what the sticker said. Coming from a Suburban, we are ecstatic! Getting between 17 and 18 with a mix of hwy and city. Haven't put it on the highway for a trip yet. Great incentives to buy right now too. I really like this SUV. Once we drive it a little more, I'll post another
Love everything but the glove compartmen
This is a great vehicle. It handles well in every situation. Its very roomy inside and you can fit more than you think in the back. It goes through some gas but I am a high mileage kind of person. The only flaw is the stupid glove compartment. I can't even fit my insurance paperwork and my registration in it. It was designed to fit a pair of gloves and thats it! It does great for intown - off road and everything in between.
IT'S A BUY!!
We just love our new jeep! This truck, is just that, a truck. It feels so strong and rough yet its quick, nimble, and agile. My wife loves the high seat level for a great look of the road ahead, but doesn't have to have such a huge vehicle to move around. Lots of head room and leg room along with enough power to get up and go makes me happy too. Quality in the build is clear, not a bug, rattle or glitch in a year.
Driving is Fun Again
I love my Jeep Liberty experience. It gives you the feeling of being on top of the road and the control of a car. I think the ride is smoother than many SUVs but you still get the feeling your driving something big. It has plenty of room for people or stuff.
It's a JEEP!
I've owned my Liberty for almost a year. I've towed a U-Haul trailer to Texas and it had awesome control. Granted, better fuel economy would be nice but It's a Jeep! If I were buying for mileage I would have looked for 26+ but I'll settle for 18-22. It climbs off road terrain like a goat, especially in low 4! So far, I haven't had any issues and I keep up on my maintenance. On the Hwy you have to put your foot into it to accelerate to pass, but that's only when I'm trying to prove something. All my friends like it but most importantly I do too!
love my liberty!
We've had our 2004 Limited 4WD Liberty now for 8 months now and have had great success with it! fun to drive... handles the road well... especially those off the beaten path. great cargo room and easy to maintain. my only complaint is that the glove compartment is so small, you can barely fit the manual in there! other than that... the liberty is awesome!
Practical & Fun
My first Jeep. I've owned other 4X4's. I need one for winter driving in Alaska. My new Liberty five speed with a V6 is perky and fun to drive. It pulls a little to the right, which I don't understand why. I took it to the dealer and they said it was an alignment problem. I got it back, and it still pulls to the right! So... another trip to the mechanic needs to be scheduled. That is a real time waster for me, but I'll get to that before too long. Hopefully they will get it straightened out! Other than that, it handles great, especially on the winter roads in Alaska!
2004 liberty
Mileage improves as I keep it at 65 mph or below on the expressways
Sorry
The car has some good points ice cold air, great sound system ,and oh yea 4 wheel drive!!!but the biggies were poor gas mileage, some what of a rough ride even on the highway, could use a little larger engin like the Chevy Blazer 4.3 liter vortech v6 "what a nice 1 that was"and the price could have been a little kinder.28k for a little fun ride? Come on!
The Wifes Jeep
It took a while to talk her away from a PT Cruiser, but she's glad I did. This is just a grwat little ride, but you have to remember it IS a Jeep. If you want a ride like a 300M then you should buy a 300M,
liberty
I love the smooth ride of this vehicle! I'm also pleased with the roomy interior, although it needs more storage and a much bigger glovebox. I really like the look of the round headlights too. It feels nice to drive.
I feel Safe!
I love driving my Jeep! There are a few flaws, but, there is with everything. I'll cope. Reliable in the New England weather!
Jeep Liberty is Great
The Jeep Liberty is fun to drive and is a practical vehicle. It is small enough to fit in any parking space, yet it is roomy enough to carry many items. The gas mileage could be better, but it is what you would expect in a vehicle that has a high profile. It has excellent acceleration. James
Jeep Liberty's are fun!
I purchased a Jeep Liberty Sport in 2002 for travel in the snow. It has shown me that not only does it handle well in snow, but in rain, sun, hard ground, and other situations as well. I never have to worry about where I'm going or if I break down...it's never happened. It feels great to drive and is very easy to handle. The cargo space is every woman's dream and the rear door made for easy access to it. The only sown side to the viechle is that when the rear windows are open it causes a loud wind tunnel sound that occ. hurts your ears...but the A/C helps. I have truly enjoyed my experience with it and plan to buy again in the future!
Look Mom, a real SUV.
There are only 3 or four 'true' SUVs on this site that have actually *earned* the classification -- two of which are Jeeps. If you want a car, buy a car. If you want a truck, buy a truck. If you want an SUV, buy a Jeep.
Very Nice SUV and its cute too!
I have owned honda's and toyota's since I was driving. I always wanted a Jeep, but was afraid of american made vehicles. I have had my jeep for 18 months and the rotors had to be replaced at 15,000 miles. My jeep has 30,000 miles on it now and guess what? I need to have the rotors redone again...that is my biggest complaint. I do alot of highway driving but the car is so damn heavy it kills the rotors to stop the vehicle. I love it in the snow...living in new england this car rules. I love my Jeep but its making me poor with the fuel prices. :o)
My midlife crisis vehicle
We have had our Jeep Liberty Renegade about a week now and both my wife and I love it. It has lots of power and is real fun to drive. The interior is well configured and has plenty of room. In researching this vehicle before I bought it, there were some complaints about the transmission hump getting in the way of the drivers legroom, we don't have any problems, (so Far)
Wonderful Automobile!
I have always driven a sports car, so I was a bit concerned about purchasing an SUV. I needed something to take me into the mountains and carry all my gear, but wasn't going to take a huge chunk out of my pocket. After doing all the research, the Liberty Renegade was by far the best choice! I've had it for a few months and absolutely love it! Gas mileage was a bit shocking at first because I was so used to getting 33 miles/gallon, but it's completely worth it, and still gets decent gas mileage for an SUV! I would recommend this vehicle to anyone. It's sporty, has enough horsepower to go fast up mountain hills, does great in the snow. I love my Jeep.
Very Happy With My Jeep
Jeep hase really gave alot of thought into the design of the 2003 Liberty.I am very happy.
For the price this is the best SUV.
Just got the new Liberty. I have only owned Jeeps my whole life. From the Wrangler to the Cherokee to the Grand Cherokee. This is a great vehicle that not only is economical to purhase but has the great engine that won't ever die.
Fun to Drive
Have had the Liberty Columbia for about a week now. Overall, extremely fun to drive and can handle the 6 inches of snow last night without even blinking.
I use to own Fords but now love my Jeep
At one time I loved nothing but Ford Trucks and broncos till I bought my Jeep and I tell you I'm sold on it's performance and looks and dependability in the Mountains were I live. Continue to builkd a great car!!!!!
Awesome
This is the best vehicle I have ever bought. It has great pickup and off- road capability. I highly recommend it to anyone. I traded in my Xterra for it and it was the best auto purchase I have ever done.
Been Jeeped!!
The most fun and reliable vehicle I have ever owned!!! I own a 03 Liberty Freedom Edition, bought last August.I won't own another car other than a Jeep again. Only issue.... I figure the way I feed it at the gas pump it will eventually grow into a Hummer!!!!
trial by fire
I purchase this vehicle in the midle of the german winter, and as luck will have it the day after I picked the vehicle up we have a week long snow storm in the area. I was concerned about getting stuck in the thick snow, as a saw several vehicles do. The 4WD capabilities of me jeep were amazing, I did not have any trouble, sorting through the bad weather. I love the style of the vehicle, it has a rough yet refined look, and it gets complements from other SUV owners everywhere I go.
Nice vehicle
Took the Liberty over Xterra at my wife's insistence and I am pleasantly surprised. Braking is excellent with 4 wheel disc and no ABS, handling is fine, interior controls took a while to get used to but all within eay reach and intuitive. Easily slips into and out of 4WD. Better than rated gas mileage - I did a 50+ mile commute on a snowy day in 4WD the whole way and go better than 19 mpg. My only complaint is the short seat and I'm only 5'10".
boya
it great, it is very fun to drive and it has a nice comfort zone I would recommend this to any one who likes to have fun
It's overall a TEN!!!
Handles great. Great in the snow. Better on gas.
I *heart* my Jeeperilla!!!
I love my Liberty! It was a great price and NEVER gives me any problems. I just take it in for it's regular oil changes and tire rotation and she runs like an angel!
Jeep
Great car with lot's of power and 'heft' in the driving feel. 3.7 6 cyl. provides a great kick. Moderate road noise with hum/whine from automatic transmission, which is a little annoying at higher speeds.
love it
it my first jeep and i love it
the best suv
I have driven all suv's. I use to own a valet company and i have tested all the cars you can think of. For the price range the liberty takes the prize. The only vehicle in its class that can get close to it when it comes to ride and handling would be the x5. At a greater price. I love that car and when its time to get a new car ill buy another Liberty. I own four cars a 4x4 f150 1999 a Extera 04 a van and my jeep. And i will always treasure my Jeep. Great job these guys did a great job!
GO LIBERTY!
When the Liberty first came out I was optimistic about its look and overtime it grew on me and I eventually took one for a test drive and feel in love with it. It has the fun and ruggedness of the wrangler and the luxury comfort of the grand cherokee. I have taken my liberty off road and I am much more impressed with its handeling than the wrangler , not to mention that it is much better on gas.
great
Its fun and reliable. I love it.
I will continue to buy a Jeep Vehicle
I love my jeep. It is a great family suv. I replaced the goodyear tires that were on it when i bought it, and put Mastercraft Courser A/T2 on it, and my wife and I have never really had to use the 4wd on it. Does job in the mud. Trans, Motor, Drivetrain heavy duty built. A oil change gets done every 3000 miles. The vehicle only had 34000 miles on it when i bought it in April 2008. MPG's good, could be better. I would absolutely recommend this vehicle to anyone, especially if you want a jeep that handles well, rugged 4wd. I do wash it every weekend, and wax it twice a month, and it still looks like new.
Not Pleased
Front ball joints went bad causing excessive wear on new (expensive!) tires, power steering / crank case problems, split hoses, calipers locking up and wearing new brake pads down - black, sooty substance all over hubcaps from brake pad burn. Transmission (auto) sometimes slams into gear unexpectedly during stop & start traffic situations.
Total Package
1 year owner and 12,000 miles later. Everything works well with the exception of a transmission noise and a loud thump that comes from the rear when the automatic tranny shifts from 1st to 2nd. Dealer says the tranny noise is "normal" -- funny it was not "normal" when I purchased it.
Great Ride
Solid SUV with great acceleration. Handles GREAT in a foot of snow.
