Love the car but a big time gas guzzler
I just bought my Jeep it had about 6100 miles on it already. I love the car its very comfy and feels very safe. Except for when u turn fast or slow it seem top heavy. Also the mpg is not that good. I drove my car for 3 days and already was at half a tank. Its a big time gas guzzler.
FIRST SUV
ALWAYS WANTED A 4X4 SUV AND I MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE GOING WITH A JEEP. I LOOKED AROUND BUT GAS MILAGE WAS A BIG CONCERN WITH OTHERS, PRICES WERE PRETTY EQUAL.
- Laredo 4dr SUVMSRP: $4,500126 mi away
- Limited 4dr SUVMSRP: $5,995208 mi away
- Laredo 4dr SUVMSRP: $3,950245 mi away
great little truck
The jeep handles wellin all situation. The 4.7 is quick off the line, and just loafs at70. back seat a little tight for six footers with tall driver and passenger up front. Pulls my popup like it wasnt even there. After almost seven thousand miles I have no complaints and I spend a lot of time in the car. Not as cushy a ride as the 2000 Lesabre it replaced, but a whole lot more fun to drive.
Transmission
I purchased a Demo with less than 6K on the speedometer. The transmission failed within 1ooo miles of my purchase. The Dealer repaired the auto, but, is this something that should (can) happen this early in a car's existence?
MY 2004 Jeep Cherokee
Excellent gas mileage, easy to handle....a pleasure to drive. The only thing I wish were different that it had a cassette player too ( mine came with stereo CD and radio).
Great for the money!!!
My wife needed a replacement for her tired '94 GC Laredo and we expected to be restricted to a "mini" sport ute. We looked at the Mazda Tribute, the Saturn Vue, etc., but felt like we would have been robbed for the $24K+ price. She really wanted a GC. I knew they listed ~$29K, so I wasn't too enthusiatic about getting one on our budget. Was I wrong! Let's just say that City Motors will be getting more of my business! I can't believe we almost paid more for a mini-ute that you can't really take off road (WAY off road)!!!
Good car needs work
The GC is a great car to have around for the snow. I use to haul around my kayak and snowboard. The dealer is the worst place to go. They dont believe anything is wrong with the car when I bring it in. The air bag light went on and they couldnt figure out what was wrong with and told me the problem didnt exist. I took it to another dealer and they fixes it. They need a training on customer service. I used to have an Acura and they had great service. Next car I want to get is the MDX.
2004 Grand Cherokee Special Edition 4.7
Drives very smoothly on the road and is dead silent. I don't know why it's getting bad reviews for on-road performance. I've never had a smoother ride.
Jeep
Like the Jeep so far. Fun to drive but would like more driver leg room.
Highly Satisfied Buyer
Previous 3 SUV's were GCLs. Particularly enjoy the feel, confort and the many "bells and whistles" of the Overland especially rain-sensitive wipers and tire pressure monitor. Appreciate pleasing interior design. Would highly recommend to my friends.
2004 Jeep Spec Edition
My second Jeep, very predictable, reliable, handles very well on snow and ice, V6 a bit sluggish would opt for V8.
Jeep Grand Cherokee- Rocks Competition
The 4.7L V8 has handled every condition possible for the Northern VA/DC area. The powerful engine is amazing, and is awesome on hills. It can handle off- road, to a stroll in the neighborhood. The car has been built to meet great standards. Not only does the car look powerful, the Jeep is meticulously pieced together with strong, and reliable parts. When it all comes together, it is an agressive 4x4 that gives you the horsepower you love and luxury you need. Many people underestimate the capabilities of the Grand Cherokee, but they then learn that the SUV has one of the highest rated off-road suspensions in it's class.
Silver Overland
Comfortable for long and short trips alike. Great acceleration for passing. Handles road imperfections smoothly and far less body roll than my '95 Laredo, it feels good. The vehicle does seem to wander a bit in a strong cross wind. I live on a dirt road in the mountains - QuadraDrive system is sure footed on all surfaces, including ice and snow. Heated seats are great. 18-20 mpg seems good for a V-8 SUV.
Theres hope yet for a jeep
Always had trouble with jeeps, my wife loved them, bought it for her. So far so good. no problems at all. excellent pickup(HO V8) but the draw back is awful gas milage. handles cross country great. The overland has a stiffer suspension and is 3 inches higher. Has more of a "trucky" ride but we like it.
my jeep
I purchased my vehicle brand new. And with only having 23,000 miles on it now little things are starting to go wrong for instance the rotors are supposedly bad and are not covered on the basic warranty i hope that this is not a sign for things to come.
45k perfection
I have owned my gc for one year and at 45k miles with zero problems, I ave.19.7 to 20.9, best at 65 on a trip from calif to denver,co. with 21k miles, ave mpg stayed at 21.5. Tires have been rotated every 3.5k and have a long way to go before changing consideration. Brakes are at 50 percent front and 75 percent rear. Gets washed every sat.morning and looks and rides like a dream. I drive my gc an ave of 3.5k miles a month on so.cal freeways trafic and all, no better car for the money and comfort.
04 Grand Cherokee
Over all the jeep has been good. Took a long road trip and got great gas mileage. driving around town and got 15 miles or less. Service on the truck was not satisfied. Key got stuck in the ignition. The navi is a great addition to the veheical
Good Jeep
I love the look of Jeep grand Cherokee
Jeep special edition
With the execption of gas milage I am very pleased with the Jeep. It has all the requirments that I wanted. The 4WD for towing my boat, the ease of towing behind my motorhome and nice appearence.
Love my Jeep
This Jeep is very smooth on the road - takes potholes well! Great in the snow.
problem already
I bought this vehicle when it came to my bodyshop for some paint work, did a carfax and it was a 1 owner with low mileage, very clean, ran fine for two days, then the oil pressure gauge kept going on and off. I presume it needs an oil pump at 55,000 miles. Not happy.
purchase price
Invoice of vehicle minues $4250 in rebates and 3.9% APR for 60 months. All in all it turned out to be $600 less that Trailblazer LS and I got a V8 with more equipment. Not sure how great of a deal it is, but I don't think I left too much money on the table.
First six months
Drivers seat could be a little wider
Great
This is the best most comfortable jeep. It is so fun to drive. Rides great on roads and has great acceleration. The midnight blue color is the best.
Jeep Grand Cherokee
An Awesome Car!!! It is the best SUV out there that you can get!!! You get a lot for your money!!!
trail rated capability
My experience with a jeep brand vehicle is that it performs exceptionay well off road. With unmatched capability it can go where no other suv can go.
this jeep rocks!!!
the truck is fast,i just raced a camaro and smoked it.the jeep is great off- road.
JEEP ! There's Only One !...
Jeep Products are just what they say Trail Rated. Great!
Most bang for the buck!
I researched many mid-size SUV's before buying the Grand Cherokee. For the money you can't beat the Jeep Grand Cherokee. I got a $4000 rebate on top of a really sweet deal. I drove the Explorer, Trailblazer, Murano; none of them had the comfort or ride quality of the Jeep. Of all the Grand Cherokee models, I think the the Special Edition is a great choice. It has the great looks of the Limited (including leather) without all the bells and whistles. Plus it costs about $3000 less than the Limited. If you are thinking of an Explorer, Trailblazer, Highlander, etc; do yourself a favor and look at the Jeep!
Happiness
Had a great buying experinece, from the fleet manager on the net. No hastle. Took delivery and it has run as designed and built. Am very satisfied.
Great SUV
1995 Grand Cherokee - 152,000 miles and still going strong. New Grand Cherokee same model V8 - loaded, better ride, acceleration, interior etc. More room in rear with spare under floor. If it continues to perform like the '95, I'll buy another one.
awesome suv with the power of a truck
I was searching for an affordable suv with a good strong name. My preferences were in comfort, off-road capabilities but something luxury as well. The Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo V8 has all of the above and it is a smooth yet powerful suv. 4x4 is excellent for off-road. Great family suv with a good amount of space. I knew the minute I started to drive it that it was perfect. not very bouncy like other competitors and gas wasnt as bad as others as well. I can't wait to take a long road trip in my jeep. Dont forget the V8's towing capacity either the maximum is 6,500 lbs that is a large boat.
04 Jeep
This is our 4th Jeep. I sometimes wonder if we'll ever own different kind of vehicle. We are definitely a Jeep family.
Jeep Cherokee Laredo the best
Best small SUV on the market - it will actually go off road and climb hills, handles gravel roads great! It is also quite smooth on the interstate. A true SUV for all situations. Only wish the mileage was better, but you pay for a V- 8 motor.
Jeeps are a Good Investment
I started buying Jeeps in 1980. I have owned 4 Jeeps and I have never been happier. I have owned other vehicles at the same time but none have stood the test of time. I off-road often and have past up and gone beyond the range of the Hummers both styles as well as Range Rovers. They just cannot go where the Jeep can go and I don't give up any comfort in my Jeeps. Fully equipped with leather on the saddels and AC in the dash. My most recent trip into the backwoods of CA found me pulling out a H2 that just could not go where my Jeep could. I literaly was driving all around in the mud and water up and down hills and The H2 could not do it. Jeeps Rule!
A Good All Around Vehicle
I bought my 2004 Grand Cherokee used from the local dealer with about 15k miles on it. Having read all the reviews stating different mechanical problems, I test drove at least a dozen Grand Cherokees before I settled on this one. Many of the Jeeps I test drove had a wandering front end, pulsating brakes or transmission noise. Some had too many miles with no warranty left. The one I picked had 2 years and 20k left on the warranty and NO symptoms of any mechanical problems. After 8,000 miles there are still no problems. If you can find a good one like I did, it makes a perfect every day car.
Do not like the vehicle
Quadratrack drive performs poorly in snow. It is really not a 4X4 but a 4X2
i got a lemon
my transmission makes a clicking noise when i put it in gear,it didn't come with the right floor mats, the engine knocks on cold start ups, trim coming off around the windshield, navigations system is messed up,missing screws that hold the tail light on(the dealer did put a old rusty screw in for me)rear window defogger broken, engine runs ruff at times and stalls when cold...all this and i have less than 4000 miles
2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited
I'm still under warrantee...the only problem I had so far is that all of a sudden it started to run rough. I took it back three times and they finally found the problem after telling me that that's how it should run. They changed one side of the injectors....it's been a about 8 months and it's starting to run rough again so I will need to take it back. I also noticed that that the sliding door for the moon roof is tearing at the edges...don't think it should be doing that since I hardly use it. I think something is missing..need to have them look into that too.
jeep ok
my third GRC far suprior to all others. 2300 miles so far & no problems of any kind. note i am very critical & would consider a 1/16" difference in body pannel fitment a problem to be fixed
Excellent
Best riding suv around Quiet lots of torque Has off road capabilities yet like a car on highwauy
Bouncing along
Well, what can I say. I should have bought a beamer. This thing has plenty of power and really sucks the fuel right out of the pump when I pull up. The ride is real busy and I'm only hoping that I will adjust with time. I owned a S-10 blazer for years. I hate to say it but the blazer was less expensive to operate and road better. I only hope I learn to enjoy the ride
GREAT!
The jeep grand cherokee is the best jeep i have ever owned. it is so stylish and neat. the interior is so comfortable and it has a smooth ride. all i can say is...I LOVE MY GRAND CHEROKEE!!
The kids approve!
I've only had my Jeep for a couple of months but I love it. It handles great and is nice and roomy. This is the first SUV I've owned and I'm quite pleased!
Man I love it!
This is my second Grand Jeep Cherokee Limited to the '93 (same model) I had. The old one ran fine, but getting everything repaired at the dealer just got too expensive for such an old car. I had a little less than 150K on it so I'm expecting to get similar mileage before I get another new car on this 04 GJC. My new car is simply joyful to drive and to own! It has power, comfort, and style. I just love driving this car, even though I don't go off road. So far no problem except for groaning when shifting from R to D. My old 93 did this too. I'm not sure if it's normal.
Rough, Rough Idle
This will be my 4th Jeep and last. Purchased new and ran great for first 10,000 miles. Started to have rough idle problem when in drive. Had 4 different dealers work on it with no luck. They just say V8's idle rough in this vehicle because idle RPM is set too low for lower emissions. Can't change computer settings. What bull! If buying this vehicle used, look for one with at least 15,000 miles. This idle problem does not set in until later. Very smooth running V8 but idle at red lights or traffic a joke. Passengers will ask you whats wrong with your car? Brakes also need frequent work. Only buy this vehicle with a power driver seat.
The First of Many
This is our first jeep. My wife and I are hooked. We are currently in the process of purchasing our second Grand Cherokee Limited.
2004 Jeep Cherokee Ltd.
I have had the Grand Cherokee Limited for over 4 months and all I can say is I LOVE THIS vehicle! It rides smoothly, handles well, and is so comfortable to drive I am always wanting to drive more. The high ground clearance makes travel over rough conditions a breeze. The back is spacious and can carry lots of equipment and supplies.
Overland is awesome!
As with previous Jeeps, the maintaing of the vehicle is the secret to it's longevity. What can I say? It's a Jeep. It goes when and where I want it to in luxury. The door panels could be a little slimmer. Big people's knees go where the window switches are. Gas mileage is not terrible but that is not why I bought it.
Everything but adjustable brake pedals
We have taken it on 2 long trips and its a fine car except it requires premium fuel and the economy is less than expected. It was picked up with a slight miss and it still does but worse when hot. The GPS has a lot of nice features and someday it will navigate using more roads so that direct routes can be used rather than just major roads. It is not as good as a hand held portable GPS for routing. It handles surprisingly well at high speeds and if you need some power its there when you need it. Its fast.
