MY 2004 Jeep Cherokee
Excellent gas mileage, easy to handle....a pleasure to drive. The only thing I wish were different that it had a cassette player too ( mine came with stereo CD and radio).
Not as quiet as I expected
Love my 2004 Grand Cherokee except for excessive road/wind noise. The 1998 model I traded in was quieter, even after 6 years of use and 103,000 miles.

Great for the money!!!
My wife needed a replacement for her tired '94 GC Laredo and we expected to be restricted to a "mini" sport ute. We looked at the Mazda Tribute, the Saturn Vue, etc., but felt like we would have been robbed for the $24K+ price. She really wanted a GC. I knew they listed ~$29K, so I wasn't too enthusiatic about getting one on our budget. Was I wrong! Let's just say that City Motors will be getting more of my business! I can't believe we almost paid more for a mini-ute that you can't really take off road (WAY off road)!!!
Get the V8
So far, this Jeep has performed fairly well. The only problem I've had is that I bought the 4.0L and really wish I'd have gotten the 4.7L for the extra money. The 4.0 gets about 13 mpg for me and I'm sure the V8 could not get much worse, plus the power would be better. The 4.0L is a bit sluggish but has performed okay when offroad.
Window regulators
I had to replace the window regulators in my 2004 Jeep Grand Cher. Laredo once, but guess what,I'm going to have to re-place 4 of them again. I'll never buy another Jeep Cherokee and will never recommend them to anyone else. These things cost a lot of money, which I cannot afford.
Jeep
Like the Jeep so far. Fun to drive but would like more driver leg room.
jeep cherokee
Things I would improve: The arm rests need softening, the center console could be a little larger, the rear privacy shade over the "trunk" area should be included, not optional, deeper netted pockets in trunk area, pockets needed on back of front seats(no place to put an Atlas).
Columbia jeep
It one of best Cars I had I had wagnaners and this is better car all round.
The Heep
So far with only 3000 miles, no problems to report. This is my 4th Jeep, 2nd Grand Cherokee, all with the excellent 4.0L inline 6. Best Engine in the Chrysler lineup since they stopped making the slant 6. Plenty of horsepower and the right combination of engine/transmission. I just wish it got better mileage. I have yet to get the advertised mileage of 16/21...I'm averaging 14-15. Maybe it will get better as it breaks in.
Only in a Jeep
After buying several domestic vehicles and having horrible quality, we were ready to give into a foreign vehicle. I wanted something fun to drive, yet a good size and could fit the family, luggage and myself and something good in the snow. My friends who had a '95 Grand Cherokee said that they loved theirs and that they have had nothing but basic maintenance done on theirs with 162,000 miles on it (still running too!). So with that, we looked into them, found one with the strong, efficient, and long-lasting 4.0 I-6 and bought it. We have had it for 1.5 years and we have almost 36,000 miles of trouble-free driving. It's fun, great size, and gets 17mpg in city and sometimes 22 on the highway. Great SUV!
Jeep Grand Cherokee
An Awesome Car!!! It is the best SUV out there that you can get!!! You get a lot for your money!!!
nothing like a jeep
I have had several different suvs in the past. I must say that this has been my favorite. This is the second grand cherokee i have had. My other one was a 2002 the only reason i traded it was that the lease was up. I love the handling, and the comfort. I put alot of miles on my vehicle so it is nice to have a safe and reliable vehicle. So far i have put 6000 miles on this one and i have had no problems.Love the jeep
JEEP ! There's Only One !...
Jeep Products are just what they say Trail Rated. Great!
wouldnottradeitforanything
I have nothing but great things to say about this vehicle. It's reliability and ride are just like a car to us. I am a salesman and this vehicle is perfect for me. This is our second Jeep and our first Limited and I would buy a third Jeep in a New York minute.
Most bang for the buck!
I researched many mid-size SUV's before buying the Grand Cherokee. For the money you can't beat the Jeep Grand Cherokee. I got a $4000 rebate on top of a really sweet deal. I drove the Explorer, Trailblazer, Murano; none of them had the comfort or ride quality of the Jeep. Of all the Grand Cherokee models, I think the the Special Edition is a great choice. It has the great looks of the Limited (including leather) without all the bells and whistles. Plus it costs about $3000 less than the Limited. If you are thinking of an Explorer, Trailblazer, Highlander, etc; do yourself a favor and look at the Jeep!
Great Ride
Exceptional handling in slippery conditions
A Good All Around Vehicle
I bought my 2004 Grand Cherokee used from the local dealer with about 15k miles on it. Having read all the reviews stating different mechanical problems, I test drove at least a dozen Grand Cherokees before I settled on this one. Many of the Jeeps I test drove had a wandering front end, pulsating brakes or transmission noise. Some had too many miles with no warranty left. The one I picked had 2 years and 20k left on the warranty and NO symptoms of any mechanical problems. After 8,000 miles there are still no problems. If you can find a good one like I did, it makes a perfect every day car.
2004 Jeep grand cherokee
I feel safe and protected in this SUV. It has an air leak sound when the heating sysem is in use, which is irritating and aparently normal. The mileage is bad...16 to 17 mpg. The grand cherokee is not as sporty looking as the limited. I recommend the Enumclaw delarship. The side to side motion does not feel as stable as the 2000 which I owned previously.
Bouncing along
Well, what can I say. I should have bought a beamer. This thing has plenty of power and really sucks the fuel right out of the pump when I pull up. The ride is real busy and I'm only hoping that I will adjust with time. I owned a S-10 blazer for years. I hate to say it but the blazer was less expensive to operate and road better. I only hope I learn to enjoy the ride
Good buy for the money
We have a 1988 Cherokee Classic, and the improvements made to the Grand Cherokee rival other boulevard SUVs. With great performance off-road, and competitive handling/performance on street driving, the Grand Chaerokee is a good buy for the money.
Jeep Realities
We bought this Jeep fully intending to keep it for a long long time. It's a 2WD Cherokee LTD. By 6000 miles we began to experience problems with brake rotor warping and peddle pulsation. It got so bad I was concerned about losing control during braking. The bottom line -- dealer told us to pound salt. Gas mileage horrible for a 6 cylinder (16.9 mpg city). Would NEVER buy a jeep again (or any Chrysler product).
BUY THIS TRUCK
We paid the extra $$ for the V8 and the 10 disk changer, and it is well worth it. We have really noticed the difference on our way up the mountains outside of Denver.
Great service
This is my 4th Jeep. Had oil pressure problem on the second day, returned to dealer who replaced sending unit. Two days later same problem, dealer replaced oil pump which didn't correct problem. They got me a rental and went to Chrysler for a solution. Got back to me 2 days later and said the car would be replaced. They took a lemon and made lemonade out of it. Great dealer, great response from Chrysler. With service like this in an unfortunate circumstance they proved again you can't beat a Jeep. Gegnas Chrysler-Jeep in Philadelphia is Great!
2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee / V8
Great value. We cross-shopped the Honda Pilot, Dodge Durango and Chevy Trailblazer. We chose the Jeep based on overall value. We have put on 32,000 miles in the first 15 months and have had zero problems with our Jeep. We "moved-up" from a Cherokee and this vehicle is a big improvement all around over the smaller Cherokee.
Krissi's Review
I love the way that the vehicle drives. It is very comfortable and fun also. I like the jeeps that have leather interior and I love the color black for the exterior color. The interior color should be grey.
2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
I have a Rocky Mountain edition Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Excellent off roading capabilities. Large Sunroof. Pleasant Drive. Spacoius Room. Comfortable seats. Can use more gadgets in the interior.
great ride
not one problem. great ride
the last of the best
great looking and performer. Not as good on gas however as it runs. V8 def worth it. runs great in rain and snow.
A ride with the silver jeep
The ride is absoultly smooth just like riding on air. It takes the bumps very well. So far it is a sound car...
IT is the best in the snow, and beach
i like it over all it DOESN'T ride as hard as the infiniti fx45 and the bmw. It is the most wonderful car of the years!!!!!! It doesn't cost as much as the bmw and infiniti fx45 and fx35.!!
This one's a winner
Just got a 2004, graphite Overland with GPS. Traded in my 2001 Limited This is a sweet ride. Much better seats than in the Limited. Side support and heating function much better.
Long Term Jeep
I was a "dyed in the wool" GMC owner (1999 GMC Yukon SLT-4WD)until I went shopping.... The Jeep was almost as comfortable (albeit smaller), had more bells and whistles for the $$$, and the price was hard to beat. I have yet to take it on a long trip and the climate hasn't changed in order to test the A/C so "the jury is still out" but if first impressions are important, this JGC-Limited has definitely made a positive one. My wife has a 2000 JGC-Laredo and loves the body style as well as the way it "zips" around so we'll see if I feel the same after four years of ownership.
Best in snow
I have a 2001 4Runner that is downright scary in the snow. We had a lot of snow in the northeast this year, and we have put about 10,000 miles on our 2004 Grand Cherokee since 11/03. The 2004 Grand Cherokee is the best thing I have ever driven in the snow...I think, it's the best "real SUV"(not like the Pilot,or Highlander types) for the money.
Love the car but a big time gas guzzler
I just bought my Jeep it had about 6100 miles on it already. I love the car its very comfy and feels very safe. Except for when u turn fast or slow it seem top heavy. Also the mpg is not that good. I drove my car for 3 days and already was at half a tank. Its a big time gas guzzler.
FIRST SUV
ALWAYS WANTED A 4X4 SUV AND I MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE GOING WITH A JEEP. I LOOKED AROUND BUT GAS MILAGE WAS A BIG CONCERN WITH OTHERS, PRICES WERE PRETTY EQUAL.
great little truck
The jeep handles wellin all situation. The 4.7 is quick off the line, and just loafs at70. back seat a little tight for six footers with tall driver and passenger up front. Pulls my popup like it wasnt even there. After almost seven thousand miles I have no complaints and I spend a lot of time in the car. Not as cushy a ride as the 2000 Lesabre it replaced, but a whole lot more fun to drive.
Transmission
I purchased a Demo with less than 6K on the speedometer. The transmission failed within 1ooo miles of my purchase. The Dealer repaired the auto, but, is this something that should (can) happen this early in a car's existence?
Good car needs work
The GC is a great car to have around for the snow. I use to haul around my kayak and snowboard. The dealer is the worst place to go. They dont believe anything is wrong with the car when I bring it in. The air bag light went on and they couldnt figure out what was wrong with and told me the problem didnt exist. I took it to another dealer and they fixes it. They need a training on customer service. I used to have an Acura and they had great service. Next car I want to get is the MDX.
Highly Satisfied Buyer
Previous 3 SUV's were GCLs. Particularly enjoy the feel, confort and the many "bells and whistles" of the Overland especially rain-sensitive wipers and tire pressure monitor. Appreciate pleasing interior design. Would highly recommend to my friends.
2004 Jeep Spec Edition
My second Jeep, very predictable, reliable, handles very well on snow and ice, V6 a bit sluggish would opt for V8.
Jeep Grand Cherokee- Rocks Competition
The 4.7L V8 has handled every condition possible for the Northern VA/DC area. The powerful engine is amazing, and is awesome on hills. It can handle off- road, to a stroll in the neighborhood. The car has been built to meet great standards. Not only does the car look powerful, the Jeep is meticulously pieced together with strong, and reliable parts. When it all comes together, it is an agressive 4x4 that gives you the horsepower you love and luxury you need. Many people underestimate the capabilities of the Grand Cherokee, but they then learn that the SUV has one of the highest rated off-road suspensions in it's class.
Silver Overland
Comfortable for long and short trips alike. Great acceleration for passing. Handles road imperfections smoothly and far less body roll than my '95 Laredo, it feels good. The vehicle does seem to wander a bit in a strong cross wind. I live on a dirt road in the mountains - QuadraDrive system is sure footed on all surfaces, including ice and snow. Heated seats are great. 18-20 mpg seems good for a V-8 SUV.
Theres hope yet for a jeep
Always had trouble with jeeps, my wife loved them, bought it for her. So far so good. no problems at all. excellent pickup(HO V8) but the draw back is awful gas milage. handles cross country great. The overland has a stiffer suspension and is 3 inches higher. Has more of a "trucky" ride but we like it.
04 Grand Cherokee
Over all the jeep has been good. Took a long road trip and got great gas mileage. driving around town and got 15 miles or less. Service on the truck was not satisfied. Key got stuck in the ignition. The navi is a great addition to the veheical
Good Jeep
I love the look of Jeep grand Cherokee
Jeep special edition
With the execption of gas milage I am very pleased with the Jeep. It has all the requirments that I wanted. The 4WD for towing my boat, the ease of towing behind my motorhome and nice appearence.
Love my Jeep
This Jeep is very smooth on the road - takes potholes well! Great in the snow.
problem already
I bought this vehicle when it came to my bodyshop for some paint work, did a carfax and it was a 1 owner with low mileage, very clean, ran fine for two days, then the oil pressure gauge kept going on and off. I presume it needs an oil pump at 55,000 miles. Not happy.
purchase price
Invoice of vehicle minues $4250 in rebates and 3.9% APR for 60 months. All in all it turned out to be $600 less that Trailblazer LS and I got a V8 with more equipment. Not sure how great of a deal it is, but I don't think I left too much money on the table.
First six months
Drivers seat could be a little wider
