THIS IS A SECOND TIME BACK TO BACK BUYER OG JEEP, MY PREVIOUS WAS A USED 1999 LMT V-8 JEEP. I AM IMPRESSED WITH THE COMFORT OF THE 2004 MODEL OVER THE 1999. IMMEDIATE RESPONSE FROM THE V-8 ENGINE IS UNSERPASSED AND NICE TO HAVE THE USE.

Laredo vs. Special Edition

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Rwd 4dr SUV (4.0L 6cyl 4A)

This is my 3rd Cherokee in the last 3 years. My first two were Laredos and this is my first Special Edition Model and so far, I can say that I like this model. If you're curious about the difference, I can tell you that the Special Edition 2WD model has the body style of the Limited model, (about $10,000 more on the MSRP), but its interior features are that of the Laredo model. I've been really content with my last Cherokee and decided to trade up to the Special Edition. You won't be dissapointed if you choose this model. The ride is incredibly smooth, handles great on the open highway, and the gas mileage is reasonable compared to other larger SUV's.

Just traded in my '00 Grand Cherokee Laredo for the '04 Overland. It's hard to find another SUV that combines all the features and extras of the Overland for such a good price. The engine is strong although quite thristy...what do you expect from a V8? The seats are much improved from my old Laredo. The off-road performance is great. Already used the new quadra-drive system to pull my buddies explorer out of the mud!

Extremely sporty feel to it. The uniframe is very rigid and seems to be very durable. Off-road it seems smooth and yet extremely responsive; just like the other Jeep vehicles. The ride is very different from the older Grand Cherokees, it doesn't rock nearly as much as before, and yet is still a great off-roader - in fact, I feel it's better. The Jeep feels very safe to drive. I like the steering much better than my previous, older Grand Cherokee. And although bigger, I feel more 'in-tune' with my vehicle and the surroundings than I did with my previous Jeep.

I looked at a lot of SUV'S and this by far the Grand Cherokee was the most soild nicest rideing vehical I drove. I have the 4.7 High Output V8 this moter is so powerful and the five speed Transmission shifts so smoothly that the engine hardly reves. If you are in the market for an SUV drive the Jeep Grand Cherokee first because you will compare it to everything else you drive and I think you will come back to the Jeep.

I bought the Canadian version of the freedom, Its called the ROCKY MOUNTAIN. Ive owned a few suvs in my life and I must say, I really like the looks of this generation of jeep, Its interior is pretty boring, The seats are comfy, There is plenty of room. Its 4x4 system is immaculate. I drive it in lots of deep snow. I bought Nokian tires, they can't be beat, Its steering is incredible, The reliability is so far pretty good. No problems except a minor pin hole leak in a emissions tube. It cold starts great in bad temperatures, Lighting is good. High way and city driving is a pleasure, It feels rough and tough, I think it'll be around for awhile yet to come. I suggest this jeep to buyers.

We had a Jeep until Sep 11, 2001 when we picked up a new Subaru Outback which we really like. But,, it's not a Jeep. Once a Jeep owner you either love um or leave um. We love our Jeep. It sits up higher then the Subaru, it rides better then our 95 Jeep Limited and gets about the same gas mileage. We had a 6 cyl before so the 8 respondes better and has alot more power. Exterior is great and interior is wonderful. Overall rating, excellent!!!

I have been a ford driver for years and have loved the space and versitility of an SUV but hated the poor break system and "truck" like feel when driving my explorer. I recently purchased a Jeep grand cherockee with the encouragement of many jeep owners and absolutely LOVE my new jeep. The power of the v8 is impressive, the towing capacity of excellent and the interrior design is a A+. The navigational system is easy to use and quite effiecent when driving. The jeep is an extremely smooth ride and takes bumps and corners with ease. I would recommend the 2004 Jeep grand cherokee v8 over Ford explorer any day! You will be thrilled with your choice of a Jeep!

I a woman principal driver absoutely love everything about this car. I dont believe it handles like a truck, it manuevers very well, the ride is awsome, i could drive it all day. Its not too big but big enough. My husband likes it for the the same reasons plus the features under the hood. this is our 2nd jeep the last one was a laredo. We tow a boat back and forth to california without hesitation. we travel to the mtns to ski and it gets us there and back in fine shape. so i strongly disagree on many of the reviews that protray it in a bad light. an awsmome car that looks sexy and rugged easy to park and on and on. it is not noisy either.

I bought my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo new in 2004. It was a V8 demo model with less than 1,000 miles. I got a great deal on it because it was a demo and because of a $6,000 cash incentive. I've driven it now for over five years and have put an average of 23,000 miles per year on it, mostly highway. I had the shocks replaced at around 50,000 miles and all four axle seals replaced at about 70,000 miles. Actually, the rear ones were the only ones leaking but I thought I'd better go ahead and have them all replaced. Other than those two issues, it has been surprisingly reliable. Major services were done at 30K, 70K, and 100K and I did most oil changes myself every 3K to 5K miles.

First Jeep I have owned and I have to say it's been a pleasure. Purchased pre-owned w/ 52K miles. Have had no major maintenance issues in 3+ years and going strong with just over 90K miles on it. We have 2 kids and 2 dogs and the Jeep (w/ a Thule box on roof) is a great sized vehicle that can go ANYWHERE!..and in comfort too. Great power, very comfortable, looks cool, drives great and very reliable. Love it, and will definitely consider replacing it w/ another Jeep someday.

Recently purchased a 2004 Grand Cherokee Columbia Edition from a friend. It is my second jeep and is in very good condition. It drives and handles awesome and handles the trails wonderfully. In addition, Monday - Friday I commute 40 miles one way to work and love the handling and size of this vehicle. 24 MPG would be ideal on the highways as I only get 21 at 70 MPH. Upgraded to Bridgetone REVO tires and the ride and handling is much better yet! Awesome truck will never sell!

I have owned Jeeps since 1974. I switched from Toyota Land Cruiser. Best thing I ever did. I put 147,000 on my last one. Still going Strong. I did not buy the Jeep to collect Groceries or sit on a freeway parking lot. We use the wifes Toyota Camrey for that. We do a lot of off road in the mountains and camping. This 04 does everything I could expect.I particularly like the Lumbar Support, and the memory features. I will never depart from the Jeep line.

I purchased my vehicle at 30,000 miles as a one owner lease return. I've absolutely loved this vehicle, the interior is very comfortable, the engine has tremendous power (which I love) and it's been the picture of reliability. I have several colleagues who all have jeeps during this bodystyle and most if not all of them have had only limited even standard maintenance. Several have over 130k with no new engines, transmissions, nothing beyond routine maintenance. The four wheel drive (mine is always on) feels amazing, and during cold weather I pity the other White-knuckled drivers on the road.

My 2004 Grand Cherokee is one of the best vehicle purchases I have ever made. Before buying it I was thinking about a Cadillac CTS and took one for a test frive. I knew I was interested in either the Caddy or the Jeep even though they were two different types of vehicles. Well I found that the Jeep had a much better ride than the Caddy CTS, believe it or not. I took the Jeep and I love everything about it.

I work for a Jeep dealership, so I was well informed about the Grand Cherokee's, and I am not disappointed at all. My previous cars were a camaro and a dodge ram, and I am so glad I finally have a Grand Cherokee. The seats are so much more comfortable than the previous two vehicles, and the ride feel is inbetween a car and truck feel - and coming out of a truck, it's a huge improvement. I love that even the base models have so many standard option.. I can't live without keyless entry! I wish the I6 had more power(I just came out of a V8..so I may just be spoiled), much it is certainly enough for everyday driving.

The quality is great, and the value is even greater. I do have to admit that I am a slave to great marketing, but everything a Jeep represents it can do, I now have the option of doing so.

I have to say that I'm overall impressed with the Gran. Cher. Laredo. I've read alot of reviews on these Jeeps and some of them are way too critical. Although I also have a ticking noise when I start it, the ticking goes away after 5 min. or so. I think if the buyers would let the thing warm up in the mornin' they would see the same results. I love the way it drives compared to every SUV I've drove or even ridden in. It's so comfortable, my girlfriend and I drove 18 hours to Dallas and she slept 3/4 of the way. Plus it averaged 21mpg @ 75mph. I guess what I'm trying to say is the Jeep has come a long way, and on that I think we can all agree.

I have had my Grand Cherroke since July 03, mostly street use. L.A. and Orange county freeways. The tires are my only complaint. Contact me at laazerdude@yahoo.com for details. I use my jeep mainly for business, I have kept a religous service record. I will remain a Jeep owner, I have considered other makes, read alot of material. NOTHING in our driving experience as a vechile that HAS to be used for work will compare: dollar for dollar.
