The worst car I ever had

First, I do like the comfort and driving of my 2017 Lattitude, however the reliability makes this the worse car I ever had, and I had over 20 cars in my life time. At approx 25K miles the engine light came on and loss driving power with misfiring, Ended up the #2 cylinder was bad and was replaced under warranty. At 45k miles the thermostat went bad, Easy enough to fix myself until I researched, Had to take it to the dealer to repair which was the least expensive at $550, compared to $750 + at other shops. ( 4 hours of labor ). At 49K miles, while turning a corner i heard a "ding", which I had heard a few times before, but nothing showed up on the console and there weren't any issues, however this time, after the ding, I lost power and the engine shut down. After about 10 minutes I was able to get it started and drove back to the dealership. Ended up there's an issue with the engine consuming too much oil. Believe it or not, the service adviser told me that up to a quart of oil consumption per 1000 miles is normal. So how is an oil change recommended every 7500 miles or as the "oil" monitoring system alerts, even possible? After they checked it out, I was 3 qts low. My motoring system said I was at 55% of oil life before needing a change. So I was supposed to take it back for a check in 2000k miles. However, at 50K miles, I had the same issue with misfiring. Drove to the dealership and again another cylinder was misfiring. It was replaced for $150. Out of all the vehicles I have owned, Nissan (6), Mitsubishi (5), Ford, (4) and Subaru, (7) Jeep (2), I have never had any issues prior to at least 95k miles, except for my 2012 Jeep Patriot with engine issues at 85k miles. If I was in the financial position to do something, I would leave my lattitude on the side of the road and walk away!. Never will I buy another Jeep. My uncle is a Jeep loyalist for the past 20 yrs, however he can afford, and does, buy a new one every year. So if you can get in and out before the warranty expires, you'll be okay. Go past that 36K mile warranty and be prepared to be frustrated and open your wallet. Update* I have now reached 85,000 miles. Here are the pros at this point, I still have not needed to replace brakes or rotors. The ride, handling and comfort continue to be good. Cons - The engine has shut down a few more times due to using too much oil however just last week there was a recall to fix the software that was causing the oil issue! Well lets see if it works and I no longer have to keep an extra quart of oil in my trunk. I'm still having an issue with miss-firing when its cold outside. And now one more issue arose. At approx 60,000 miles, I get a message on the dash stating to service shifter. After starting the car, the park light is lit, when putting into reverse, all the light are lit ( park, neutral drive etc ) and I get the message to service the shifter. Turn the ignition. restart and it works normally. When the issue happens, you can hear an abnormal clicking sound when pressing the shift button. Lets see what happens in the next 15,000 miles as I approach 100,000 Update 10/12/21 - So far the oil issue has been resolved. I haven't had an issue since the resolution. The gear shift issue comes and goes, not doing anything with it at this point. Currently I have 94K miles. I do like the way the car drives, but the early issues leave me with my same statement of being the worst car I ever owned.

I purchased my Cherokee sport with the Altitude package and I am really pleased with it..I have heard about the 2.4 liter 4 cyclinder engine been sluggish but personally I am surprised on how peppy the engine is and responsive the transmission is also.i have nothing praise for this vehicle and for the price it's a great value..

Being in the military with limited income keeps my options low in regards to what I can afford for car payments. I just got married and my wife just found a job in the Seattle area so we needed a 2nd car. After looking at used vehicles, we came across Jeep's President's Day sale and they were offering $5K rebates for downpayment plus discounting the sticker price for all basic Cherokee Sport models. So we were actually paying less than what we were looking at for used Cherokees. I wasn't impressed with the acceleration but it is a 4 cyl. My wife liked the features and it was new! So we pulled the trigger. 500 miles into the car, we realized there was puddling water at driver and passenger sides. It was storming so I asked if her door was shut. It was. We drove it back to our dealer who proceeded to hold onto it for over a week. Not once did they contact us. We had to initiate the discussion and they seemed upset that we were upset. A response of "that's why there's a warranty" doesn't comfort a consumer when the cause was a body part that needed to be welded shut, seals in the door and windshield that needed to be replaced/resealed. It simply shows shoddy workmanship and low grade parts quality.

At first I loved this Jeep, I honestly planned on driving forever! Two years later nothing but issues with my transmission! I was spending SO much money, and it was in the shop more than on the road!

navigational equipment errors have began to slip in. It will asked us if we want to make a phone call while we are backing up the car, it just comes on. We notice that the speed limit that the system will advise us the wrong speed. Mechanical the Jeep is fine. Overall the Jeep has been a great car to own. We always buy the extended warranty if offered, we have found over the years that it does pay off if you own a car more then 4 years or drive a lot of miles. We replaced the tires, and checked the tie rods. We are seeing rust on the hitch.
