Best Car I Have Ever Owned
In 2008, I bought a 2004 Vanden Plas. I have owned many cars I liked, but none quite as much as the Jag. The quality of the leather and the beautiful wood trim, along with a ride so quiet, neighbors thought the car was coasting through the neighborhood. The biggest surprise was in a V-8, I got 30-33 mpg on long trips. Car had 28,000 miles when I bought it and 3 years later had 101,000 miles when I wrecked it when faced with either hitting a school bus or driving over the hill into a creek.

new car
The ride is very rough,I feel every bump in steering wheel and seat. The road noise is very loud, it appears to come from the wheels and floor,on some bumps the suspension system feels like it is bottoming out. This is my third jaguar and I believe it is the worst one. The front seats are very uncomfortable especially when getting out of the car due to the high edge of the seat.If I had purchased this car instead of leasing I would be trading the car.
WHY I BOUGHT A 2003 RATHER THEN A 2004
I'VE BOUGHT NEW JAGUARS SINCE 1985. THE 2004 MODEL IS THE BIGGEST LET DOWN I HAVE SEEN SINCE THE EARLY 90'S WHEN THEY REMOVED THE TRADITIONAL HOOD STYLING , ONLY TO LOSE SALES AND REPLCE IT LATER. THERE MUST BE SOME YOUNG STYLIST FROM FORD , THAT RUINED THE VENERABLE JAGUAR LOOK . THEY FORDIZED THE 2004 XJ. THE GAS CAP IS NOW LIKE THE CROWN VIC, THE HOOD OPENS LIKE A TAURUS, AND THE ONCE SLEEK LINES ,NOW RESEMBLE THE TOWNCAR. BUY A RMAINING 2003 ASAP BEFORE THEY ARE GONE. ONE MIDWEST LONG TIME DEALER/ OWNER REFUSED TO DISCOUNT OFF LIST ON THE '03. HE SAID " PEOPLE COME IN AND TAKE ONE LOOK ATR THE '04 AND SAY I'LL TAKE AN '03.
What I found!!!
Beware it will cost more to repair than purchasing this vehicle. The most I'd pay for this vehicle is $2,000 Max
Top of the Line
I have been driving luxury cars since the early 1970's. For the most part, they have been Mercedes S series or equivalent. The Jaguar XJ8 for 2004 is the finest automobile that I have driven to date. It combines luxury with great handeling. I recently averaged over 30 mpg on a road trip. It is a pleasure to note that Jaguar has not gone the route of other luxury manufacturers like Mercedes and Mercedes by making the car too complicated to operate.
XJ8 is hard to beat
Great looks, performance, style, and reliability at a price that is very attractive compared to comparable cars. Base model is very well equiped. Add a few options and the XJ8 competes with anything on the road and nothing looks better.
The best Jag ever
I bought my XJ8 with 87,000 miles on it. I now have 97,000 miles and this car feels and drives like new. Responsive, feels tight and it is very quiet. It is a wonderful car to drive in the open road, because of its power and great gas mileage. You will easily get 29 mpg on this powerful v8 car! The interior is simple, yet very elegant.
Hugemistake
