For the money the best car I have ever owned. Perfect ride for my wife, a little soft, but the kick in the engine is for me.

My most exciting XJ was 1973, series 2. The '04 revives the excitement. It is quick, quiet and comfortable. The competition was the '04 Audi A8L Audi hadmore rear room, but was not as cofortable nor as responsive on curves.

This car is so good we bought an identical certified used one. We call these fine cars Victoria and Albert. My initial 2004 review remains true. "I cannot quite believe that I am getting a Jaguar. My last 3 cars were BMWs. I do not like the design of the new BMW. The quality of the new Mercedes was inferior. The new XJ8 design, quality, performance, and value are clearly superior to BMW and Mercedes. My new XJ8 is extraordinarily comfortable. The performance is terrific. This is not your father's Jaguar. The new aluminum body is a leap ahead of the competition."

The XJ has alot of power sometimes to much to handle. The car is built to last the long haul. The interior is more like a Buick then the last generation Jaguars. All in all it's a great car to drive.

I have not had my jag in the shop other than normal services. It has been very dependable and a pleasure to drive. The ride is great with lots of power and it handles like a sports car.

I went from a Carrera Cabrio to this large flagship sedan. I have had no issues and have been very impressed with handling and gas mileage. My '04 XJ8 is high mileage at 64k miles. It is like new, makes an entrance, not just another ordinary Lexus pulling into the office or valet. You do feel like royalty when driving. Style, quality, reliablity, handling, and gas mileage makes a strong package. Would buy again.

I've owned 3 Mercedes, the last,a 2000 S430, and thought that I was driving the best until I saw the Jag commercial and went and drove one. The 2004 XJ8 rides smoother, quieter, peppier, and handles better on the road than my Benz ever did. We just returned on a 1000 mile trip and enjoyed every mile of it. This Jag is a winner

Purchased just a few months ago still with new warranty and then CPO with 19,000 miles on it - I am in love. Truly had wanted one for many years but finally took the leap and couldn't be happier. It is the most luxurious sporty car imaginable (and I am very, very familiar with most all of them out there). Quite surprising how much of a savings when purchased 3 years old. It is almost a piece of art in a class by itself. Now I am glad I always wanted one!

HAD 1999 JAGUAR XJ8 THOUGHT WAS GOOD CAR BUT GAVE ME PROBLEMS TOWARDS END. TRIED XK8 FOR ABOUT A WEEK BUT WAS HARD TO GET IN AND OUT OF SO DESPITE MY LOVE OF IT'S APPEARANCE I TRADED 2005 FOR 2004 VAN DEM PLAS. IT RIDES AND FEELS SO MUCH BETTER THAN MY OLD XJ8 AND THEXK8. I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A BETTER RIDING CAR BUT I HAD NO IDEA IT WOULD BE AS RESPONSIVE ON THE ROAD AS IT IS OR AS COMFORTABLE. HOPE I DON'T GET MECHANICAL PROB. BUT SO FAR COULDN'T BE HAPPIER

This is my first Jaguar and I am totally impressed. Unlike prior models this is superb with respect to interior leg room and head room and the quality is readily apparent. The six speed automatic transmission is seamless. At lower speeds the engine does its task with no apparent effort-- and very quietly. When acceleration is required it is awesome--most likely a consequence of having much less body weight. The exterior and interior color choices are much better than other luxury sedans. In the overall the XJ is a great leap forward for Jaguar.

This new generation XJ8 is too good to be true. It's so nimble and precise. More responsive while offering a even better ride than before. I like the sporty driving experience on this car. This one is a totally different car from its predecessor. That's why a BMW enthusiast like me go for Jaguar this time.

Performance really kicks a..! It's curb height has improved and is no longer low to the ground. Sound System is something to behold. NAV system is DVD and it's quite a treat to listen to a Female with a British Accent to guide you to your destinations. This is the 6th XJ I have owned and it is truly the best of the lot.

Car runs beautifully and handles great but they reduced the back seat too much.Not nearly enough leg room as in the older model. The head room is great and trunk is finally a decent size.

I bought the car because I've always loved the looks. The fact that they retooled it in aluminum and modernized the body but kept the "Jaguar" look really sold me. It is a very quiet ride and handles well. I thought it wouldn't be a big deal to upgrade the sound system outside the dealership but no one wants to mess with it. All in all, I love the car and look forward to enjoying it for many years.

Even though I just purchased an almost 6 year old automobile, this car is absolutely beautiful. The interior is warm, elegant, and exceptionally comfortable. I searched for over 6 months for a BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, Infinity or Jaguar and found this most excellent of motorcoaches. I feel good about my purchase and the car runs like a dream. The impressive acceleration is something that my Infinity does not share with the XJ8. Although I love my Infinity. This really is a work of art.

Fun to drive, a little hard to get into for a old man! Good economy, (28 mph hway). A good buy used, good looks, lot of great comments from people who would like to own one.

This is just a class touring auto, comfortable, soacious, like your in your living room. Engine is very smooth and has plenty of power on the road and highway. Heads do turn when you pull up and the overall quality of the car is excelent.

Have an xk8 and traded an 1999 xj8 on this new design xj8. It drives better than an audi a8 I was considering...and better than BMW...besides the Brits always support us.

Luxury, luxury, and more luxury. having owned MBZ S Class, BMW 745i, and other Luxury cars, you cannot beat this car for the money. Very comfortable and luxurious, fast, great handling, and surprising gas mileage along with stand alone looks, make this car the leader in flagship sedans in my opinon. select Edition used is best program in the industry and Jaguar tied Lexus in recent reliability polls.

I've driven/owned all luxury vehicles and none have pleased me like the XJ series Jag. This is my fourth one, and I will continue to buy them. No faulting these cars any longer on quality and reliability. And, it's still exciting to drive and gets 18/29 mpg in city/highway driving. No BMW, Benz, or Lexus look-alikes for me.

CATS air suspension really provides for a wonderful ride. The car sails on the highway with better gas mileage than you might believe for this 300 HP V-8 (I routinely get greater than 28 MPH highway and and average of 24 MPH with some in-town). The interior is lush. The experior appeal is super. Navigation works extremely well (get the 2007 disc). Sound system is super. If you happen to find one with the rear control-DVD system in the headrests, you will have the complete package.

This is my third XJ6/XJ8 since 1993 and although I loved the first two dearly, this is by far the best. It is far more comfortable and commodious then the others. The power is awesome, the drive superb, and the gas mileage unbelieveable for a car this size. Since I am one of the last Americans around who smokes, I truly appreciated the large and easy to reach ash tray. The basic sound system is as good as anyone could ever want and the heating and ventilating stytem is easy to use and starts producing cold or heat immediately. I truly expect this to be my last ever Jaguar, since I can't forsee how they could improve on this one.

This is my third xj. The 2004 is exquisite in every detail, highly recommend the multi media package. Had a 2003 bmw 745, this car is just as fun to drive but the nav system and controls are very user friendly, unlike the i control in the bmw. they are pricey, but what a great ride!

SO FAR ITS THE MOST ENJOYABLE AUTOMOBILE TO OWN AND DRIVE OF ALL THE FOUR DOORS I HAVE EVER OWNED. I HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE TO HAVE OWNED MANY OF THE BEST. THIS INCLUDES ANOTHER JAGUAR.

I love this and it is wonderful. Love the new extra room and the craftmanship of the interior. Just enough gadgets. look at the BMW but it was too complicated. Jaguar did an excellent job on this car.

When driving this magnificent vehicle, you always feel you own the road! Before purchasing the 2004 Jaguar XJ, I previously owned a 2000 XJ8 and felt the same way about it as I do about the 2004 Jag... Special! During my life, I have owned Saab's, Mercedes-Benzes, BMW's, and a Range Rover, but I have found that driving a Jaguar is like driving no other! What a car!

I've owned the XJ8 over a year now, and am still in awe of this machine. My only problem was a noisy accessory belt that would chirp when the engine was cold. Jag fixed it with the one year service. Jag has built a high quality car with personality and every trip seems too short. The power from the V-8 is more than sufficient, with excellent fuel economy for a large luxury car. You will find it easy to drive the car very fast, with the CATS suspension changing its setting to keep you on an even keel and comfortable. At very high speeds (I wont say how high), the car will catch a bit of a cross wind. You will feel like royalty in this car, nothing can match it for the money.

Previous car was 740IL, and I was looking for something exciting (since BMW has ruined the 7 series from design and techno standpoints). My new Vanden Plas is all I could have wanted and more. Nimble, elegant, pretty and fast. Comfortable cabin, wizardry is functional for the most part, and truly fun to drive. Road feel a little squishier than 740, but still great!

ACTUALLY THE 2004 XJ-8 IS MY WIFE'S DAILY DRIVER BUT IT IS A THRILL TO DRIVE (WHEN SHE LETS ME). ROCKET LIKE ACCELERATION AND BRAKES THAT BRING IT TO A HALT WITHOUT BRAKING A SWEAT, FAST. THE ACCELERATION IS SO FLUID AND THE TRANSMISSION IS SO SMOOTH, IF YOU ARE NOT PAYING ATTENTION, YOU'RE EASILY DOING 90. WE HAD CONSIDERED THE 745 BUT HAD HEARD A LOT OF NEGATIVES REGARDING THE "I" DRIVE, ITS LOOKS AND ELECTRONIC "GREMLINS". THE JAG HAS IT ALL OVER THE 745 IN LOOKS, PERFORMANCE AND LUXURY. THE INTERIOR IS LUSH AND COMFORTABLE. THE EXTERIOR IS UNMISTAKABLY JAGUAR AND ENGLISH. WE ARE THRILLED TO OWN THE XJ8.

This is simply the best car I have ever owned thus far. I was to the point of debating if I would ever buy a new luxury car again. This car has the best ride, tightness, feel, music system, gadgets and workmanship of quality I have ever experienced. I was thinking about a Bentley and after test driving both cars, the 2004 Jaguar Vanden Plas won in all categories hands down accept in looks. The Bentley won on that. I am making up excuses to run errands so I can get in the car and drive. I traded a 1999 Vanden Plas and it was terrible from the day I bought it new. WELCOME BACK TO LUXURY JAGUAR!

This is the eighth Jag for me in the past 10 years (have had V12, Convertibles, XJR and XKR) and this is by far the best yet. Superb interior, fit and finish are exceptionally good and the ride is tops.

I have owned my CPO car now for 7+ months and must say it is awesome! The car is flawless and is probably one of the best kept secrets in terms of $ for value out there. The gas mileage is a shocker-avg. at min. 22 in the city and 29+ on the highway-glad I didn't buy some small, cheap car "to get good mileage" because this luxury/sport car gets better than them. Not only is it impressive to look at, but to drive, arive in, and own. Could not be more happy!!

The new Jaquar VandenPlas carries full comfort while driving in the city and especially on the highway. The faster you go, the smoother it feels. The 16 position seat gives the driver lumbar support that makes the drive tireless.

After owning a 99 XJ8 and an 01 XKR, I wanted a different brand of car for my wife. After test driving all models with a bias to NOT buy a Jaguar, I still bought the Jag. THIS CAR IS A VAST IMPROVMENT OVER PAST MODELS and I believe it to be currently the best car on the road. My one complaint is outside appearance. I liked the lower profile Jag. This is taller and more rounded but compensated with better cabin room. Performance is it's strength as it is incredibly more responsive. Test this car and you won't be disappointed.

This is my second Jaguar. I like them because they are the most beautiful cars on the road. This model seems to be very good. Handles well and a lot of thought has gone into the interior design. The good things with this new car has been overshadowed by the HORRIBLE buying and delivery experience with GALPIN Jaguar, including but not limited to being treated poorly, car sold and delivered by someone who didn't know how to operate the car, the navigational system or program the radio, car not detailed properly, calls not returned in a timely fashion. Ruined the experience of enjoying a brand new car.

Always liked the looks of the Jag, I have yet to find anything I don't like about it (well maybe). The car has a little too much road noise. It comes from the front area and is more noticeable at slow speeds and when slowing down to a stop. It has all weather tires and this might be the reason for this or maybe I'm being a little over the top.

This car is so luxurious and the power is amazing. It looks very inocuous from the outside but you should have seen the look on the kids face driving the Mustang that I totally left flat at the stop light! The leather feels great and all the buttons and upgrades (I also have the GPS) are very nice. I am not a big fan of 4 door cars but needed one for hauling around my precious child. This is certainly a wonderful car to drive until I can get back into a sporty 2 door (can you say XJR??!!).

Car handles beautifully, acceleration great and holds the road well. Interior room finally works for those of us over 6'. Fun to drive and much more class than a Mercedes or BMW.
