The truck that can't be killed.
I got a Qx4 when I started school, it had 280,000 km on at at that time. Well, I drove it for three years without doing *any* maintenance at all except wiper blades. It was at 320 then, and I had to get the front brakes done. While I was there the mechanic said I should get the timing belt done too, he said they are supposed to be done every 100k and this one had never been replaced. I finished school and told myself I would drive it until it died and then buy a new car. Three years went by and it never died. I had to replace one oxygen sensor and they fiddled with a wire once because of a nock sensor. I sold it 2 weeks ago at 367k (kilometers) and I can't believe how it held its value!
One of Japans Finest 4x4's
Pros: Refinement, Reliability/Durability, Build Quality, Smooth on road, Very Capable off road (All Mode 4x4), Strong HVAC, Everything still works after 18 years & many miles, VG33 Engine is refined & smooth Cons: Fuel Economy, headlight performance, Could use more power, VG33 engine gets loud when revved I sold mine with over 220k miles still running with no issues but some rust. I'd highly recommend owning ifn you need cheap reliable transportation.

None Better
This is the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. Bought used at 47K miles and now have 90K. Didn't know warranty went to 70K but never needed. Traded in a 2002 Odyssey for this QX4 and had a volvo wagon before that. No comparison. This truck is great on the highway, safe in the snow and good offroad (think skid plates and real 4wd). The important difference from the Pathfinder is the Nissan Skyline transmission and extras. Real gas milage is consistent 19MPG. Good trailer towing capacity.
I love this SUV, hate to give it up!!!!
This SUV is amazing it!!! I purchased this SUV in 2005 at the time it had 104k miles on it I'm still driving this SUV with 322k miles on it and counting! It has survived Hurricane Katrina in 2005, a wreck in 2007 and I've never replaced the timing belt as of yet! I regular have my oil change, yearly maintenance and I replace one oxygen sensor. Its leaking oil at this point but I've traveled back and forth in this SUV from New Orleans<La. to Dallas, TX for over 6 years now! I hate to give it up but I will eventually it's not idling correctly anymore. I'm impressed you were able to sell it with those miles on it. I am skeptical anyone would want to purchase it with the miles and minor issues it has but kudos to you! I'm looking into purchasing a BMW X 5 or Benz ML350 which seems to have bad reviews but I want to buy the vehicle I desire opposed to one that's economical I know it sounds crazy but I want to live it up and not settle... The SUV that CAN NOT be killed!!!!
One of the best cars I have owned
I have a second home in Mammoth Lakes CA average 330 inches of snow a year. It is 320 miles from LAX. I have owned this car for 11 years and have 128000 miles. Just change the fluids and belts at 95000 and its runs better than it did when it was new. Started using Amsoil and now get 19mpg on the highway. Car should go 300,000 easily if maintained. Best snow car ever!!!
The Energizer Rabbit - It keeps going...
187000 mile and still going! The transmission is starting to shift hard from 1st to 2nd, but the engine remains strong! Only major maintenance: replaced rear springs and struts; timing belt.
This is the Most Enjoyable SUV to Have
I have to honestly tell you, that I really Love my QX4 and it is very very dependable with no repairs so far and it so sturdy on the highways. I love to drive this SUV on the highways since the seats are comfortable and the car rides very smooth and is very easy to handle. The styling is unmistakably luxiurious as it was the first luxury suv and the build quality is fanastic. I highly recommend people to buy these QX4s as well as the all new Infiniti FX35, because these SUV have a great reliablity, fun-factors, styling, and a decent price for what they offer.
Reliability
I have owned this QX4 almost 10 years and aside from routine maintenance it has only been to the shop 3 times, you can't beat that. It is sharp and sleek looking, very eye-catching on the hi-way. I wish INFINITI would consider making the QX4 again, I would be one of the first in line because of its reliability.
Love It!
I got this car about 3.5 years ago for my 16th birthday (I was lucky!), and I have been very pleased with it. It has taken my scrapes and dents as gracefully as possible. Mine has 132,000 miles on it (98000 when purchased) and has had little problems, but I did have to take it into the shop about a year ago and spent $600 on a mass air flow sensor and another O2 sensor along with other minor maintenance which was a big chunk of money but totally worth it. I have become attached to my QX4 and won't let anyone else drive her. I would definitely recommend ANY Infiniti for someone to buy and I will remain a lifelong fan of their quality and style.
excellent
I bought a 99 Qx4 when it had 5000 miles from a trusted local dealership. My experience was awesome with this vehicle. I never had a problem with the vehicle. I serviced it every 3500 miles. Other than a power window motor going out at 50000 miles, which was covered under warranty, I had no problems. The downfall for this vehicle is being underpowered. Although that was overided by the most comfortable ride I have yet to experience.
Once is enough.
Great looking, quality construction, poor gas mileage, very underpowered. No real repairs until 120,000 miles, since then repair cost more than two thousand five hundred dollars. I would not buy this car again due to poor gas mileage and lack of engine power.
1999 QX4
Very nice car/suv. Leather interior hard to take here in AZ.. Rides pretty well. Front end tends to get out of alignment. Even though it is equipped with 4wd, I don't use it. Japanese cars in general do not have enough window tinting. Overall I would buy another one without hesitation.
No complaints
Comfortable, fully adjustable seats. Standard Bose cd changer/stereo system. Best suspension I've ever seen in an SUV - offroad and on. Actually better suspension than our sedan - takes bumps in the road with ease. Super quiet ride. Reliable, reliable, reliable. Lots of comfort without the overbearing size of the larger SUV's. Pitfalls: size of cargo space is sufficient for our home remodelling efforts, however if you are looking for space to haul alot, it may not quite fit your needs - ie. fitting a queen size headboard isn't going to happen :), gas mileage is pretty bad - thankfully we're low mileage/year folks
Great Vehicle
I've this QX4 for three years and have only changed the oil. Just gas and go. Very smooth highway ride, but can be bumpy on uneven pavement. Several times a year I make a 12-hour trip to see my daughter and do not get tired driving this SUV.
Infiniti QX4
This vehicle is the best I have ever had, dependable, reliable. This is a great looking truck. I will buy another!
Unreal
Bad fuel economy but inpressive quality It just won't die. I have kept good care of it and it just keeps on tickin' Great vehicle to buy second hand even if the milage is high because it most likely will last for 300000 miles
20 years and still going
Got this SuV at 4 years old. Still looks like new. It's loaded everything including a 6 speaker Bose stereo system. Leather seats. Moon roof, tinted all around. Comfortable seats both front 6 way. Just a wonderful car. Use as my second car always garaged. Black color looks brand new. People ask me when pull up to new ones and can't believe it's so old. I show them the sticker in door. Hope to drive till one of us drops. Engine still good, leaks little oil at 100,000 miles. Best car besides a 1976 Lincoln continental Mark IV designer series 2 door I ever owned.

Best SUV I've ever driven
I've had this SUV for about 4 years. In that time we have had nearly no problems with it. The check engine light came on, we hooked it up to our OBDII reader and it came back as an O2 sensor (common problem). A week later we discovered that the muffler had rusted off. We replaced the muffler and the O2 sensor stopped giving us an error. Other than that, there have been ZERO problems - the most reliable car we own. Very comfortable riding vehicle, great for long trips, and the Bose sound system is phenomenal. I expect this thing to last another 100,000 miles at least - such excellent build quality from Nissan!
I love my QX4
I took my sister to buy a vehicle and the sales people were more into me trading in my QX4 than selling her a car. That speaks for itself. It is a beautiful SUV. No major mechanical problems. It is 6 years old and looks and drives like a new ride.
Miss Reliable
Our 99.5 QX4 has been the most reliable vehicle we ever owned. It drives like a car but has the qualities of a much- needed 4X4 to handle the northern New England winters. Overall comfort is good although the backseat legroom is limited and the headroom is marginal.
It was probably great when new
I bought this SUV 2nd hand when it was 18 years old. It should have been a salvage. It had survived a high speed spin out on the freeway I was told. Many electrical problems like no interior lights. I was afraid it would completely fry an any point. On the plus side it feels like it has a very stable hold on the road. Decent head room. And even with a couple of Car Diagnostic Codes like Knock Sensor Malfunction it keeps running fine. Terrible MPG notwithstanding.

Great car going to miss it
Loved this car since I bought it and was sad when I just sold it. Only thing I had to replace was one o2 sensor (outside of the normal fluid, brakes and tires). Did it myself and only cost me $80.
Very Reliable
I love this SUV and have since the beginning. It is now 7 years old, and the only problem was the battery. It died in year 2. Other than that, the reliability has been excellent. I wish they'd put a shoulder belt in the middle back seat. The gas mileage is always around 13 MPG...not the 15 to 19 that they had on the sticker. The power is underwhelming, but I have a lead foot, so it's a toss up. The proportions of this SUV really can't be beat. The interior is great for me (5'2") but not so great for my husband due to legroom (he's 6'1"). It still looks new and runs really well. The BOSE stereo is wonderful compared to other cars of that era. On my third set of tires though, with 47,000 miles
Underpowed-gas guzzler
This is a very reliable car which is dramatically underpowered and gets poor gas mileage. The car is essentially an upgraded Nissan Pathfinder. Original price $37,000. Great looking with really nice interior. If you want one of these cars buy a newer model. Infiniti made some major changes to this model sometime after the 1999 model. Only buy a 1999 or earlier model if you can get a really great deal to make up for the lake of permformance and poor gas mileage. My 1998 Pontiac Bonneville gets 50% more gas mileage both on the freeway and in town. This is a poor freeway car as it has a limited range.
I love my SUV
I really love my SUV, it is fun, the inside is beautiful, I love the space, takes up some gas but that is the price you pay for an SUV. If I had to trade it in I don't think I would.I am very happy with it,the ride is great, smooth, quiet,I LOVE IT.
SHE IS MY BABY, I love my SUV
I love my QX4,I have had no problems with it at all, I take it up to the snow,it runs great,I drive everywhere in it.It looks good and I feel good when I am in it.
Great Luxury Buy
This vehicle is wonderful. It has everything, and is affordable. Could use a little more power, but not that bad. Better than what I expected. The comfort is great, and the Bose stereo is incredible. I highly recommned this vehicle.
Tough Build-Soft Drive
QX4 is a greate SUV. It is tough but rides very softly. Beautiful interior design and comfirtable seats.
Used Infiniti QX4 2000
Bought it used with 109K miles in 2007. Overall a very fun car to have and drive, wonderful comfort, great sound system, great off-road. There is one very important limitation - bad fuel economy, about 12-16 MPG. Which means it is not for a lots of freeway driving, but rather for short commutes, small towns and off-road (which is excellent!) Some reliability issues - non specific, but after 100K miles, some small and not small parts tend to go out. Off-road as good as it gets. I drove on a very steep uphill, narrow winding mountain road with more than 6 inches of snow and ice, and it went right through it for miles until the snow got really thick (more than 10 inches).
Great Car but too slow
My first car. I love it but I'm always lagging behind all my friends. Interior is very comfortable and upscale. Been in my family for three plus years and NEVER had to be taken in for service other than scheduled checks. Power was increased significantly for the 2001 model which is a pain. If it were faster it would be up there with the x5 in my book. Look forward to replacing it with G35 coupe or Fx35 (Qx4's replacement). Very reliable.
Very Capable SUV
I have owned this vehicle for 3 years. It is great to drive, has loads of cargo space, is luxioursly comfortable inside and has a dynamite Bose system. It is well insulated from road noise, drives crisply and rides well. If you can find a clean one, go for it. It has all the bells and whistles you would expect from a luxury SUV. I was looking for a 4Runner but found this sitting next to it. Wasn't that impressed with the Toyota, but fell in love with the QX4. It only had 7500 miles on it. Now has 35k.
Great SUV
This is a really well built SUV. Previous owner had zero problems since buying new and had all records. There was a small front seal leak at 125K but these were replaced prior to purchase as well as the water pump just as a precaution. Very quiet and smooth compared to its Pathfinder sibling.
1999.5 Infiniti QX4
The Infiniti QX4 is well worth the money. Used QX4's are very affordable as well as reliable. I have had my QX4 for a year now, and I have never had a problem with it. The roadside assistance is a very good feature as well as the heated seats in the premium package. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for an affordable but luxurious SUV.
Excelent SUV
All around excelent vehicle. Underpowered for sure, but still capable.
Great Reliable SUV
The QX4 is a great midsize SUV. It is attractive, well-built, and has been supremely reliable since I purchased it.
GREAT CAR
The service, dependability, looks, and durability have been everything I wanted in a luxury automobile.
Best Vehicle I have Ever Owned
This vehicle lasted 23 years and is still going strong. Excellent quality when it was built!

What’s Not To Love!
Bought my 2000 QX4 in 2015, it only had 53,000 miles on it! I still have it today, & it only has 91,000 miles on it, best car I’ve ever owned! Engine is still strong, handles and rides awesome!
Loyal Infiniti Consumer
The only drawback to this vehicle is it's bulkiness. It's very stylish and comfortable but it does not have much pick-up.
Joes Review (53,000 mi)
Excellent driving with true superior handling and comfort!! Gas Mileage is really CRAPPY!!!!!!
Best SUV - bar none!
Best SUV I've ever owned. Had two before, none like this one! Great SUV
Great Ride
What a great vehicle, it rides and looks great. But it is true that the engine is missing a horse or two.
Achilles Heel
A really nice car...except for the oxygen sensors. There's four of them, and at $140 a pop each time they go, it can get really annoying. So far, I've changed them all (including twice on one). Enough! It is most troubling to see the "service engine soon" orange light go on, especially after just having the car serviced. Now the 6 CD changer is having difficulties, too. All with a vehicle which has less than 53,000 miles on it.
It does the trick
I purchased this SUV used about 2 years ago. It had 77,000 miles then and I've got about 116,00 on it now. I've been extremely pleased with the quality. I've only had to replace the tires and change the oil. Still rides like a new one. I use it and abuse it like a work truck, yet it cleans up and runs like the luxury SUV it was designed for. When I ever decide to upgrade I will look to move up to the newer version...When the tires were worn out, I was getting about 15mpg, but with a new set I'm getting about 17 mpg....Definately one of the better autos I've owned...
Return Customer
I have owned 5 Infiniti's since 1994. This is the second QX4 and I still love it. The thing I love about my Infiniti is that when I take my vehicle in for service, I feel as though I am the only customer they have. They always have a loaner and I am always in and out in a matter of minutes...no waiting for someone to write up my order. Will buy another one.
Solid SUV
I have has this car for nearly three years and NEVER had to take it in for warranty service. My wife was hit from behind on highway at high speed and the QX4 stood up pretty solid to the blow. My lease is up in 3 months and I might keep it or get a new QX4. This one is a little underpowered - the 2001 got the bigger engine upgrade. Uses a lot of gas but this vehicle is built rock solid.
all u need
its has all the horns and bells u need standard at a good price
