My new Tucson
Overall, I am very pleased with the Tucson. This is the 4th Hyundai I have purchased new. I like the interior and exterior styling. The sound system is above average.
6 month owner
I have owned for 6 months, and have been very happy with it so far. After extensive comparisons and test driving, I chose it over vehicles like RAV4, CR- V, Liberty, etc. Why? Value for the price, comfort for driver & passenger, automatic with manual control, 4WD lock. My complaints so far are few: The console between the front seats is too low to function well as an arm rest, and needs to be about 2" higher (I'm average height). I would like an inch or 2 more clearance. The automatic transmission is not as smooth as I would hope. And gas mileage is not stellar for the vehicles size. That said, I'm extremely happy with the Tucson and would easily recommend it to others.

2005 Tucson
Looked at many vehicles in the compact segment including the Toyota Rav4, Honda CRV, Saturn Vue. I was impressed with the initial quality of the Tucson and the features that were included in the base price. But the thing that won me over the most was the dealership and the low pressure, freindly atmosphere involved in the purchase. They made this purchase the most enjoyable of the 30 vehicles that I have purchased in the past. This is a great vehicle and I am enjoying it completely.
Great except, is gas mileage overstated?
I enjoy the drive experience. The vehicle feels high quality and well put together. I like the relatively short vehicle length with the small turning radius making it easy to park, maneuver, and fit in the garage. I like everthing except the gas mileage. I got 15.5 mpg in my day to day city driving and 18 mpg on my combined city highway. I saw some write-ups stating that city mileage should be 20 minimum and others saying it should be 19 minimum (my window sticker). I must admit I really enjoy the vehicle but if the window sticker would have stated 15 mpg city, I would not have purchased it. I have owned the vehicle for 3 weeks and have put about ~650 miles on it. (GLS 4WD 2.7L).
fun so far
This car has been fun to drive in the short time I have owned it. My only complaint is the rather mediocre gas mileage. A little more oomph on takeoff would also be nice, but it is very comfortable, handles well, looks great, and is priced right.
