Used 2011 Hyundai Sonata Consumer Reviews
Update
I've had my Limited w/nav for over 2 months now and haven't had a single problem. On strictly hwy driving, I've gotten 41.2 mpg @65-70 mph. Averaging 27.2 mpg overall. In dash mpg readout is almost identical to the mpg when I figure it manually. Comments on noisy tires are probably due to the fact that they are low rolling resistance tires for better mpg. Still, this car is quieter than the Acura TL I traded in. As for the ride, the Sonata rides better than the aforementioned Acura TL. No rattles, no squeaks, no problems with fit and finish, no leather seat issues, etc. The adaptive transmission has not given me any issues and shifts up/down almost unnoticeable. 100% satisfied with the Sonata
Love the car, but bumper is flimsy
Mpg is great-36-39 on a trip, ride is comfortable, looks modern. Big drawback or design flaw -if you scrape the front bumper you don't have just a cosmetic problem. On driver's side we didn't have any collision or bump and it separated from the fender. We scraped the bumper on a curb on the passenger side while backing out and the entire bumper separated from the body of the car. It is held on by tiny flimsy tongue in groove construction like a snap together kid's toy. We were going about 2 miles per hour. Were told that the bumper would have to be replaced. This is our second sonata (2007 which we loved) but this one is poorly constructed and bumper is poorly designed, too low on sides

Rain
Absolutely amazed with the quality of this beast. 4000 miles no rattles no problems. Couple of complaints minor - don't crack the windows in the rain --you will get wet -- the elbow padding could be better -- and the electric steering - I seem to be chasing it alot to keep it straight. 32.7 ave mpg 80 miles a day highway 5 city. Pretty good not as good as my civic but much more comfortable.
Ignition Problem
Great mileage at 41 mpg - we drive almost exclusively long highway miles. Have had car for 2 months with 6 "no- start" ignition events and 2 trips to dealer about it. Second servicing seems to have fixed it - something to do with a harness connection with the brake, which needs to be depressed to start engine.
Great job but needs better packaging
This car is a head above it's competition and has now set the bench mark. I am disappointed that the 6 speed manual is designated to the low bucks crowd. No reason for not being able to get a power sunroof and alloy wheels as a factory option on the GLS or make the 6 speed available on the SE. Other than this packaging issue Hyundai has done a great job with this car.
