Used 2011 Hyundai Sonata Consumer Reviews
Impressed by first Hyundai
This is our first Hyundai. Between my wife and I, we have put on about 3500 miles (70/30 Hwy/Cty). Gas mileage has been averaging around 27-28 mpg. I am 6 ft. 3 in. tall and my wife is 5 ft. 2 in. We both find the seats to be comfortable and supportive. Our car had a mid level upgrade that came with Nav/XM/iPod/Bluetooth. The 300+ watt stereo with Dimensions brand speakers produces quality sound (not earth shaking) with a variety of music. Interior fit and finish seem to be spot on. Exterior has been holding up well. I just finished a drive to Vegas from L. A. and found the ride to be very smooth, quiet and solid, qualities we didn't expect with Hyundai. Don't pass this car up!
102K miles and still going strong
I bought my 2011 Hyundai Sonata off the showroom floor with 3 miles on it. I travel for a living so reliability and comfort were king. In addition the gas mileage on my model is still 36 MPG. I got 60k miles on the stock tires and put the second set of shoes on and it is a lot quieter. I have had no major or minor repair issues. I keep the oil changed and tires rotated and it has been great. I hope to hit 200K with no problems.

Overall, it's nice
But I'm concerned. The suspension is too tight--I feel every little bump in the road. And what is obviously something that is going to have to be addressed by Hyundai is the fact the car pulls dramatically to the left at speeds higher than 40 mph. I took it to the dealership shortly after I bought it to get it looked at. I was told that the steering is electronic and that it was due to the crown of the road that the car pulls to the left. Then I got home and did a google search for "Hyundai Sonata pulls to the left" and WOW! Many are having this problem and Hyundai pretends the issue doesn't exist. I'm going to give it a chance and go back to the dealership armed with new knowledge.
pulling issue
In June of 2011 I purchased a sonata with 40 miles on it. since day 1 it has had a pulling issue. Struts have been replaced, camber bolt kit has been tried. New tires settle the pull issue mostly but still has problems and does not drive straight. Key cylinder has been replaced due to key sticking. Gas gauge has been replaced because it showed I always needed gas, even when i just fueled up. I have argues the pulling issue with dealearship since day 1. I am being told there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. All my family and mech. friends have driven this car with the same feelings as mine. Something is wrong!! It definetly does not drive straight. Horrible customer service.
Competent Family Car
Stylish car that needs more substance. Although a good effort, still not class leading. Steering feel is a well known issue for modern Hyundai's. It feels extremely numb. The powertrain is very powerful. Get decent gas mileage around 25 mpg combined. Interior materials are nice although the center console plastics are rather cheap and the blue lighting at night is hard to read at a glance. Owned the car since November 2010. Other than routine service, I had to have the rear-view mirror replaced, the A/C actuator fixed, a new key fob. Fairly reliable and holding up well. Car at 29,000 miles.
