Used 2011 Hyundai Sonata Consumer Reviews
mpg better than epa ratings
Recently we got 40.7 mpg on straight hwy at 65 mph keeping the rpms below 2000. First i did not trust the computer but it proved to be accurate. I called my dealer and they were not all that surprised--so it does day on the sticker up to 41 mph. I am at 5200 and will continue to update data.
Fog Horn Blues
Bought my Sonata Limited 2.4 Turbo new in 2011. Initial pulling to the left was remedied by local alignment. With 36K on the odometer I noticed a foghorn-like sound emitting from under the hood whenever coming to a stop, and when the outside temperature was high. Initially, I suspected the brake system but then happened to come to a full stop, shift into neutral, and increase rpm's. Voila!!! The turbocharger. A couple of days at the local Hyundai dealer, and all was perfect. The problem has thankfully not re-occurred.
Lovin' it
Ok, I have only owned mine for about a month, so I can't speak to reliability yet, but as for everything else, it's near perfect. The car doesn't feel cheap at all. It's intelligently put together, it's an ergonomic dream, the gas mileage is phenominal (I'm averaging about 33.5 mpg and 510 miles to a tank), it's quiet/rides smooth, the optional equipment upgrade(s) are excellent, and it's a great value overall. What more could you want in a car? It is a little "knocky" sounding at low speeds though, I don't like that very much, but it's a great highway car. It's ridiculous how quiet and comfortable this car is on the open road! The lumbar support is great. Buy this car!
On my third Hyundai
I've owned the '03, '05, & the '11 sonata's, and I am sold on the car. I love the look, the reliability, & gas mileage of the car. The front seat is a little uncomfortable. It's just shaped unusual. I love the bluetooth hookup. The stock stereo sounds good, but I don't blast my music. My window tint is holding up very well. I love the huge trunk, & the fact that you can tip the back seats down to make room for longer items from the trunk. Stock tires didn't last long at all, but I've replaced them with better tires with long warranty. The car rides quiet & handles great. When I'm ready to buy another car...I will be looking at another Hyundai
Koreans top the game
Bought a 2005 Sonata V6 with everything on it. Loved the car, but needed a CUV for occupation. Mileage on the 2007 Santa Fe SE was miserable. Enough that I decided I wasn't a CUV/SUV person after all. Great CUV, tho, especially for the money. Recently decided I should start looking at sedans once again to get out from under the poor mileage. Took one look at the 2011 Sonata and was hooked just from the exterior styling. I wasn't worried about reliability or safety, since we've owned 4 other Hyundais. What a terrific car for the price, or even for thousands MORE!!! I'm still trying to get used to ALL the features on this car and the ride is quiet, punchy and terrific!
