Catalytic converter problems

I bought a new Kia Sephia and had bad rotors after 2 years. Then, after 79000 miles, it had a bad front catalytic converter. I thought it might be a fluke, so I decided to buy a new 2005 Sonata, even though they're made by the same company. After 2 years the rotors went bad and warped. Then, 5 1/2 years and 63000 miles, the front catalytic converter went bad. I will not buy any Kia or Hyundai again, no matter how good of a deal it may be.

Excellent value

I was skeptical about purchasing a less known name car. The car has performed wonderfully and I have experienced no mechanical problems. The Hyundai people are great for roadside service and questions. I do not work for Hyundai, but I truly am impressed with the warranty and ride. The mileage is great. The car gets up those mountain roads with ease. I would buy another one any time.

Initially Pleased / Later Horrified

Happy with look and performance of the car. Attracted by the "best warranty". After 2.5 years have found it to be built CHEAP, plastic that breaks, seats & mats have worn out. Reliability of car is HORRIBLE. In 2.5 years I have spent over $1,000 for service to maintain the warranty, $2,500 for items not covered by the warranty and the warranty has covered over $4,000 of items that have also broke. Reliability issues have been 2 dead batteries, had to replace flywheel, replace clutch - wore out in 21,000 miles, dome light, cup holders cracked, stereo, auto door locks replaced, alternater died, and steering wheel and seats have cracks and tears in them now. Never another Hyundai for me!

Rough idle

Good value overall for the price range.Very nice design, features. A few problems - front corners of trunk too tight chipping paint, but mostly very very rough idle. Have had it back to dealer many times and cannot find anything wrong. Getting frustrated. As long as RPMs are over 900 runs very nicely.

My husband and I bought a Hyundai thinking it would be a great purchase....We were wrong!!!! After 2 months of owning the car it has needed a new timing belt, radiator and engine!!!!! ALSO, under 3 RPM's the car rattles. We have brought it to numerous dealerships and none have been able to fix the problem. We wish we could just return the car!!!!
