Overall I am satisfied with this vehicle. This is my first new car so some of the issues I have with it may be standard. I really don't like the warning that pops up every time you start the car. Should be a way to disable it. It goes away by itself but still bugs me. I am not thrilled about the plastic on the dash and doors. It absorbs oil and dirt easily. Had some finger grease prints on the fuse cover in the cab from the dealer and had a blast trying to get that off. The car is touchy on the highway trying to go straight. Just the smallest movement of the steering wheel you are drifting to one side or the other. You can hear the road noise more then I would except at highway speeds. I couldn't find a place together in the manual that would tell me what all the beeps or noise coming from the car means. Like leaving the car running and taking the smart key with you. I would of like to see that all in one place. The car break in period in the manual needs more detail. Pretty much it says to keep between 2k and 4k rpm, not at one speed and don't break hard. Well its impossible to stay between 2k and 4k rpm in city driving, plus it says to do this for 600 miles. Imagine having to fight and automatic to stay in that range for 600 miles driving around the city. I am not a fan of using the Android app for music or calls but is nice to have for navigation. I use the Bluetooth for calls and music and that is nice. I wasn't sure I would like the keyless system but the more I use it the more I like it. I still wish there was a place for the key in case all else fails. Like you go swimming with the fob and it shorts out or the fob gets ran over and is toast. My favorite things about this car is how it looks (2019 has some changes I am not to fond of). The price was good with good included options. The gas mileage was a great selling point. The warranty is nice. This points I mention are just little things to think about. For me I can live with them and really do like this car. *update* One big issue that I didn't know about the car until it started getting cold outside. The car takes extremely long to warm-up. Around freezing its a fifteen minute warm-up just till the temputure gauge starts to move. This is a known issue for 2017/2018 Elantra's with TSB 18-HA-002 but since my car was made in Alabama its not covered. I been at dealers and in contact with Hyundai USA with no help. I am averaging 30MPG for mostly 80% highway due to warm-up time. If I would of known this issue and lack of support from manufacture I would of never purchased. After some time in the car I do like Andriod Auto. I like the Waze app over Google for navigation.

Because it was late spring when I purchased this car I wasn’t thinking about driving it in the snow. My 2009 Hyundai Elantra did great in the snow. I could drive through 5 inches of it and be perfectly fine. It handled great in it. Because this car is so much lower and wider, it’s terrible in snow. The traction control must of came on 20 times on my way home from work with out first snow fall. It sounds crazy but I probably would have looked for a vehicle that was a little higher off the ground if I had thought of this. Otherwise is a good car so far. I was so fond of my last one that this one hasn’t yet grown on me. It handles great around turns. Lots of room, very comfortable. Never felt uncomfortable riding in the car for long road trips. Very stylish. There’s not that much storage space. Cup holders are limited.

First 30 days and 1800 miles

Car is great overall value. Went on 800 mile round trip to mountains and averaged 43 mpg. Engine can be loud if you heavy accelerate or when going up steep mountain other than that it is very quiet and comfortable. The dash controls are very well laid out the best layout I have seen in any of its competitors. Transmission is very smooth. Dealer I purchased from included 20 year 200k warranty. Do not know how you can go wrong purchasing this car with that type of protection. General driving has resulted in 31-32 mpg in mix of city interstate driving. This car is worth serious consideration if you are in the market and do not need space for more than 4 people. We bought this after cosigning for my son in 2012 for a 2012 elantra after he got out of Navy. He still has his and it has been very reliable car which led us to giving Hyundai a Try.

2018 Hyundai Elantra SE 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl 6A)

I purchased a new 2018 Elantra SE in May 2018 and so far, I am extremely satisfied with the vehicle. I currently have about 31,000 miles (50,000 Km) on the odometer. Pros: Quiet cabin, smooth ride, very good fuel economy, comfortable front seats, very affordable for a car of this quality, silky powertrain, very comfortable and quiet on the highway Cons: Ride can be harsh on rough pavement. In very cold weather, the engine takes a little more time than my other vehicles to warm up (I live in the great white north). I am 5' 9" and 170lbs and I find the ergonomics very comfortable. My 5' 8", 130lb wife and 6' 2", 200 lbs son have driven the vehicle and they also like the seating and cabin layout. My vehicle is not equipped with any of the electronic active safety features such as blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-change assist. I believe that these features would make my driving experience safer, however I did not have the funds to purchase the more expensive model. Fortunately, the outward visibility in the cabin is very good so I have no complaints in this area. I calculated the fuel economy manually and I averaged about 34 US mpg (40 Imperial mpg - 7 Liters/100Km) in a 50/50 mix of city and highway driving on the very first tank of gas. The fuel economy is about the same or slightly better, after 30k miles. I cannot speak to the reliability since the car is only two years old. However, so far, so good. If it is anything like my previous (2010) Elantra, it will provide years of trouble free service. I am extremely pleased with the drivetrain. The 6-speed automatic transmission and the 2.0 Liter engine are well mated to provide smooth shifting and generally quiet operation. Merging onto the freeway is quite effortless as is passing and cruising at freeway speeds. Acceleration from a standstill is not spectacular but it is adequate. I have never owned a car with a more pleasant automatic transmission. Yes, I can feel the upshifts and the downshift when I am slowing down to a stop. However I find the feeling reassuring, controlled and again, pleasant. Mind you though, all my vehicles have been modestly priced. The Elantra feels quite stable in crosswinds on the freeway. This fact combined with the very low level of wind noise at freeway speeds suggest to me that the aerodynamics of this vehicle is outstanding. Handling is probably aided by the touted super strength steel that is used to make the Elantra. Quick maneuvers at high speed and tight cornering feel very safe and secure. With the tire pressure set to 36 psi (per user manual), the suspension/tire noise on rough pavement was very harsh and loud. This is probably my biggest and only semi-serious negative criticism of the Elantra. I dropped the tire pressure to 32/33psi and the ride is now quite acceptable to me. There was no noticeable change in the fuel economy after I reduced the tire pressure. The good news is that on smooth pavement, the Elantra is extremely quiet and composed. Bearing in mind that the Elantra SE is a budget car, the ride is very good, overall (at 32/33 psi). The stereo/radio sounds OK. It is quite good, again, for a budget car. I really appreciate the Bluetooth connection and the USB charging port for my cell phone. After two years of ownership, I am very pleased with the Elantra. I would not hesitate to buy another.

The interior /trim layout is neat, clean and efficient, vehicle performance is enough for daily use, fuel economy ( city drive ) is about 29.5 mpg ( my elantra sel only has 200 miles to date, will chek again after breakin ( > 700 miles ). The only complaint from me is the riding comfort ( the suspention system is a little hard ) nice car, nice color ( LAKE BLUE ). I am pretty sure this is the right car for me !
