Gentleman's Truck
I have no concerns or problems with my 2019 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E. I had an old 1996 Chevy C/K1500 and just got tired of constant maintenance costs of a 23 year old truck. It was tall for my aged mom and mobility challenged sister to get into. I had an Avalon (Toyota) Hybrid (which I loved for the mileage) but I banged my head on the roof sill on every other entry. I could not load my mom and sister and their walkers in the Avalon very easily without compromising someone's comfort. So a new pickup was needed. I did not want one of the full size pickups (on steroids) of today (which dwarf my 1996 full sized Silverado extended cab). Also, the new huge pickups do not leave much if any space in a garage if you can get them in at all. I wanted combined 20 mpg. and my wife insisted upon blind spot monitors when she hauls kayaks, which meant buying the RTL-E Ridgeline to get that level of safety (Honda Sensing). My new Honda Ridgeline checked off EVERY ONE of my needs and wants and exceeded what I expected. Returning from San Antonio through the Texas hill country on a recent hot day, I logged 28.2 highway mpg. My city mpg after two weeks is climbing as the truck is breaking in and has gone from 14 city mpg to about 16 city mpg. I got a VERY GOOD deal as I purchased my 2019 Ridgeline for 13.5 % BELOW MSRP and the dealership included a CD ($577) player at no charge. People trot over to me on parking lots wanting to know all about this vehicle. As word gets around, I think people will realize that the Ridgeline will meet the hauling, towing and creature comfort needs of 98% of pickup uses for most people. Only those wanting to go rock crawling, heavy hauling or heavy towing will need anything bigger than the Ridgeline which is actually slightly bigger than that old 1996 Chevy I am getting rid of. Yet my mom and sister can easily access the Ridgeline. Value is GREAT because I got a $50K + pickup for less than $40K out the door price (TTL included). It is a new way of looking at pickups and is the first of its kind. Unibody construction makes it ride and steer so smoothly. It does not bounce around on the highway or sway in turns due to independent rear suspension. I could go on for much longer, but you really just need to drive one for yourself. I am now approaching 50K miles and am just as satisfied with my Ridgeline as in the original review above. No issues. There have been a three recalls (fuel pump location fix; timing belt installation fix; hood flutter fix); all done well. No issues. In my opinion, the 2019 model has been the sweet spot for this truck so far. Subsequent changes to front styling make the truck more appealing to some who want a more aggressive look. However, the other "improvements" to the transmission and shifters are underwhelming. I prefer the setup on the 2019 much better with the 4WD button on the stick shift. Newer transmissions are full time AWD only. But, ALL Ridgelines are great trucks! Honda fixed the inadequately opening rear doors on new trucks which I had to do myself by installing front door retarders on the rear doors (1 hour/ easy). I hope to drive my ridgeline for many more years, but if I were in the market for another truck, I would buy another Honda (the Swiss army knife of trucks).

Wonderful Truck!
This is my 4th Honda product, and first Honda truck. I drove full-sized pickups for 35 years for work, but since I’ve retired, I don’t need that much truck. The Ridgeline fit the bill. I got the 2019 Black Edition a little over a week ago, and it’s very familiar when compared to my wife’s previous Honda (CRV). First impressions: At this price point, there should be auto fold mirrors. Also, exterior downlighting is a nice feature that I had on my RAM and grew to appreciate. The Garmin-based GPS works, but it is clumsy when compared to our BMW. Blind side warning should be adjustable for sensitivity. Cars are (literally) next to me before it goes off. Tailgate should be lockable. The lack of a radio knob is inconvenient, but not awful I use the steering wheel controls. Apple CarPlay won’t work if the phone isn’t connected via USB. Should be a wifi connection. The voice commands are outdated when compared to our BMW and in some regards, the 2014 RAM truck I traded in. The brake pedal travel is a bit long. That’s it for complaints. The truck rides fantastic. I keep it in ECON mode and have gotten no less that 22.3 MPG in combined driving, most of it in the city. One week in, and it’s my favorite truck ever, and I’ve driven them all. The walkaway auto door lock is nice. The owners manual says the vehicle has rain sensing wipers. It does not, but that’s fine. I never use them in our car. The truck blends in with other vehicles yet looks distinctively sharp. I like that. The size makes sense on so many levels. I use the in-bed audio when I’m washing the truck. That’s fun. The fit and finish are top notch. Acceleration is good. Handling is great. Very car-like. Honda's hold their value well. While the buy-in might seem high, the vehicle (in the long run) is worth it. These vehicles are bulletproof. UPDATE After owning the truck for almost a year and a half, the original complaints still hold. The worst is the clumsy voice command system. I rarely use it because it’s so bad. Especially the GPS system which rarely got the destination right. No knob for the radio is still annoying. The in-bed sound system is a gimmick and I haven’t used it in well over a rear. The rear doors don’t swing open far enough. On the positive side, it’s comfortable, reliable, and gets decent mileage.

No one believes I bought a truck!!
Ok I traded in one of my dream cars. Dodge Challenger RT. Loved it! Needed something more practical for all the reasons. My first truck I have ever owned . I could not be happier with my “truck “. Seating is excellent. Driving is very smooth. The back seat is fairly comfortable and goes up to store my golf clubs. I got the E for the technology and I admit the bed speaker. The technology is worth it as all it takes is one emergency stop to pay for itself. Well last night was the snow from hell in North East Cars stranded everywhere. Snow and ice. The truck went through it all perfectly. Best snow vehicle I have ever owned. 21.5 MPG all around so far. All I can say is I think this was a great buy. I can not believe I bought a truck. Maybe he best all around vehicle out there today. So I have owned for a year. Still believe it is a great value. No problems to date and have over 20k miles. The gas mileage is better then I thought. Averaging 23 mpg.

Never thought I would purchase a truck
I looked at my next vehicle for about 4 months. Originally started with the CRV, but we already own two. We have three children, who are now driving, and I wanted something else. My wife drives a 2016 Pilot and I liked this vehicle, but again wanted something else. I looked at cars, but they don't hold enough to help children go back and forth to college. I priced out a Jeep Sahara and a Chevy Colorado. I test drove all of these vehicles. My main purpose was to find utility without sacrificing a quality drive. The Chevy Colorado quickly got expensive (more than the Black Edition) and didn't drive as nice. The Jeep drove like a Jeep. I don't do off roading here in the midwest and therefore didn't need something that wasn't comfortable for having the possibility of using the vehicle in a manner I didn't intend. I also wanted good gas milage as I drive a lot for work. I only have had the Ridgeline for 5 days, but it is everything I thought it would be. I did my research on-line through reviews, my own test drives and pricing. I don't mind the entertainment system as we have a 2016 Pilot Elite and I understand how to use the system. It's not hard once you get to know it, just like any phone, there is a period of time to get to know where everything is at. It's actually much faster than our 2016 Pilot. I also love the Apple Play. Siri does a great job with texts and responses. She can hear what I am saying and repeats it back to me before sending absolutely a great feature. Now when my children are texting me to find out where I'm at, I can respond without taking my eyes off the road or picking up my phone. I look forward to Apple opening up all my app's in the fall for Apple Play. Finding music and making calls has never been easier using Siri. The ride has been wonderful. I haven't had a vehicle this smooth in years, the extra wheel base distance makes the ride incredible. Even better than our Pilot. The red trim and lighting in the Black Edition is something special. About the only thing I would knock is the stopping distance. The truck feels heavy when stopping and you do have to allow for extra spacing between you and the vehicle in front. I think the brakes could have been upgraded a little more, but this is just an adjustment to a different vehicle. I drove a CRV before and it stopped very quickly. Overall this is one heck of a truck from a person who was never interested in owning one, now I drive one daily and have loved every minute of it. I generally lease them and then buy them out, due to my work, I can write the lease off entirely from my taxes and then purchase it later. I will be keeping this one for a long time.

Do you really need a macho full size truck?
I did a lot of research and serious looking before buying my 2019 Honda Ridgeline. I read people that said it was not really a truck, it was a girl's truck, a guy would be laughed at going to Home Depot or Lowes to get things in a Ridgeline. I considered an F150, Tacoma, and a Colorado but one test drive of the Ridgeline convinced me this is a great vehicle with lots of room, lots of power, and all the things you would want in a top line SUV. A month and a 1000 miles later I am happy I chose this truck. It performs flawlessly on the road and on gravel. It has plenty of power and lots of room inside. The navigation system is a Garmin system that had 2015 maps in it. I went through the process (3 hours) to update the maps but the new version does not have roads around me that have been built in the past couple of years. The lane keeping assist system takes some getting used to as well as the adaptive cruise control. Overall unless you are going to tow a trailer full of equipment or do some serious mud slinging this is a great truck. After 41,000 miles - only regular maintenance. Had to replace tires at 30,000 - not the best original tires. Battery went dead at 32,000 miles. Overall, it is a very good, reliable truck fhat is great for every day driving and hauling things from garden centers.

2019 Honda Ridgeline - Great truck choice
The Ridgeline is a very versatile vehicle. Not only is it an Awd truck but is also very comfortable for 5 adult passengers. The rear seat folds up for even more storage capability. The tail gate swings up or out and the trunk storage in the bed is an additional feature. I replaced a 2009 Ridgeline which was great, but the 2019 model is even better. It handles and rides even more smoothly than my previous Ridgeline. It continues to be a very reliable vehicle.

realistic truck
This is really all the truck I really need. I had a 2500HD and 1500 before but after a while, they became tiresome to drive and park. Just getting in and out became a chore and I am 6'3. The Ridgeline is a great rig and really all one really needs unless they are hanging drywall or hauling toys out to the desert. I had a 2019 Pilot and totaled it a few weeks before I bought the Ridgeline. I believe that Pilot saved my bacon in that head on collision, hence why I got another Honda. My Pilot had the "honda sensing" and I hated how many false warnings I got. I found the only RTL Ridgeline (it doesn't have honda sensing) in San Diego county and jumped on it. I was not going to do another Honda with that safety feature... it still needs a lot of work. My Pilot always felt like someone else was also holding the steering wheel. It was almost scary when it would flash "brake brake brake" and the wheel would start pulsating for no reason except for a passing car going the other direction. Two issues I have are the rear doors don't open very wide and the rear tailgate does not lock . However, I found on a Ridgeline forum that you can get the rear doors to open wider if you swap out the rear door hinges with the front. Also, there are companies that make a lock for the tailgate and one that will even work with the OEM remote. I also plan on doing a bulb swap w/the OEM bulbs for better visibility. My advice, stay away from the higher end trims with all the electronics... keep it simple and their is less to go wrong. One last thing: Honda if you are listening.... move the terrain select button away from the center console lid. I'm tired of watching my Labrador change the setting with his front paws!!!!

Over the next ridge stood my 2019 Ridgeline RTL-E
After doing all of the homework through the 2017 & 2018 Ridgelines, to replace my old 1997 Honda Passport 4WD. I saw an ad that the 2019's were out and all I had to do is cross the next ridge and there he stood. One handsome crew-cab that built everything upon the years prior and they're all everything I'd been looking for in what has become the last vehicle I plan on owning. It's safety systems are VERY well integrated and easy to use, much like the navigation/HD Radio/Satellite radio. Found the majority of everything is within reach and easily accessible and a cinch to use without much work reading the manuals. Made decision to download them onto my Samsung S7 phone and Samsung S3 Tablet, now have quick easy access whenever needed for something. The ride was definitely a surprise as it handled beautifully during hard acceleration and braking while turning or hands-off braking. VERY smooth ride that you'll forget what you're in quite easily. Everything easy to adjust for seat positioning/height along with steering wheel adjustment with capability to save 2 auto settings. The cab interior is spacious and able to fit 5 large guys comfortably with plenty of storage throughout the interior and in-bed truck. Installed a 3 section hard tonneau cover making even more protected storage whenever needed. As far as I am concern, Honda has outdone themselves with the 2019 Ridgeline RTL-E which is nicely outfitted as is. Power rear center glass as well as power retractable/tiltable moonroof which I had to have since Passport ran all those years without a major fix being needed. So, with the way I saw it, it was just time to go over to the 2019 Ridgeline and it's NOT disappointed yet. Even with A/C running, it has plenty of power to get out of its own way and then some. The price agreed upon was worth it completely. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a test drive and you'll also see and feel everything I've mentioned here. Thank you.

Almost great
It came down to this or the Toyota Tacoma V6 crew cab. The Tacoma is more like a truck and the Ridgeline more half truck half SUV. The Ridgeline was more to my needs since the majority of my driving will be on pavement. Overall very happy with purchase. The only complaint is for a truck with a $38,000 MSRP the audio system is lame. No touchscreen for this price range. It is the same radio as my wife has in her 2016 CRV. Other than that a great vehicle.

BETTER THAN EXPECTED!
Sooooo glad I chose the Ridgeline. Had it 3 weeks now and just cannot believe how well it rides. I know, it's not a "real" truck. But, that's exactly why I bought it. Body on frame trucks ride terrible. The Ridgeline's unibody frame delivers the best ride you will ever have in a truck. Period! My previous 3 trucks , Tundra, Nissan, and Chevy, did all the towing I needed. If you don't need to tow anything heavy, you need to test drive this truck. The Ridgeline is one smooth ride. Oh, and the gas mileage is sick. I drive mostly highway and have averaged 25 MPG. Are you kidding me. That's unbelievable. The locking trunk in the bed is a huge plus. Very impressed with this truck.

New Honda Fan!! This is a must test drive!
I started my search for a pickup about 3 months ago. At almost 60 yrs old I wanted this truck to be comfortable, quite inside, very user friendly and not to break the bank with retirement not to far away. All I can say is WOW. This Ridgeline is hands down the most complete all around pickup on the road today. If you need a "mudder" or are towing more than the 5K, then it's not for you but for the 95% of us who only need the 4X4 on rare occasions, the AWD is plenty good enough for you. And in the "E" you get every option you can think of and all for just under 40K with the deal. That is crazy good. The GM & Ford models would all be over 50K for the same options. Fit and quality are A+. And I can get on a average tank of gas 23 miles all around MPG. I really don't have any complaint. I have always been a Ford person and the new Ranger isn't out until Jan/Feb of 19. I didn't want to wait and I'm glad it made this purchase.

The Ride is Fabulous compared to every other truck
Solid functional truck that doesn't ride like a truck. Yes, I really wanted a Tacoma, loved the look, but I hated the ride and the interior didn't compare to the Ridgeline. Not to mention the bed was smaller and not as functional in the Tacoma. Surprisingly I found the dealer willing to negotiate the price and got a little more than $4000 off the sticker which has not been my experience at a Honda dealer. If you can get past the front end not looking mean enough then this truck has everything you could need for the normal guy that isn't going to use this as a true off road truck. The interior is simply way too nice to get dirty, such a classy cab and really well put together space. My only knock is the voice controls - my 2014 BMW is so easy to just say Call whoever and it does it. This truck has multi steps to make a call, very frustrating. The gas mileage is great for a truck compared to the others. Never thought I would buy a truck but this is the perfect compromise, love the trunk bed and love not having to borrow a friend's truck or ask for help. Honda reliability, great ride, luxury interior and good gas mileage. This is a winner. Have almost 30k miles on it, solid and dependable, no issues.

Lifestyle truck
I'm 66 years of age and have owned practically every large crew cab diesel 4x4 truck out there over the years but times and needs change. Do not haul 5th wheelers or offshore boats or need for work anymore. This Honda is one sweet ride and serves my needs perfectly. Only complaint is no locking tailgate. 26 mpg hwy, not bad at all. Update on hwy mpg...28.5 last fill by gallon for miles method. Cruise at 73mph. Just put new OEM tailgate lock on. No problems with truck yet. Update @ 24000 miles needed to replace front left wheel bearing under warranty. Seams a little soon for that issue. I will say it preformed well in a foot of snow. 32000 miles and still loving truck. Update 55,500 miles and problem free to date. 65000 miles and replaced all 4 struts, about that time. I do haul and tow a lot. New front wheel bearings will be done under lifetime warranty. Problem free, still live truck

Handles and rides better than most cars. If you don't need to tow a huge camper or boat , this is a great vehicle. The only complaint is that the high beam assisst has never worked properly.

Update to : Great vehicle except the radio
Good ride, acceleration and handling. Mileage a little disappointing. Good utility, love the in bed trunk. Audio system is antiquated but after eight months, numerous phone calls to Honda USA, five visits to the dealership and many follow up phone calls the second replacement radio they installed actually works for hands free calls. The service manager, Mike Shippe at Waikem Honda was great, but corporate just hoped I would give up and go away.

A good truck-like vehicle
A truck for Honda owners. I sold my F150 because I didn’t need a big full-size truck, and got the Honda a few months later. The Honda rides well and the seats are very comfortable even for long rides. I’ve spent 8 or 9 hours in the truck at a stretch on long drives without any complaints. Fuel economy is good and the cabin is quiet at 75-80. Back seat is roomy and seats flip up for convenience. Yes, the infotainment interface is bad. Navigation system is pretty good and the radio sounds fine. Apple CarPlay is good. But the interface is bad. Everything is touchscreen and requires multiple screens and inputs. But that’s the worst thing about the vehicle and I still prefer the Honda to the competition. Update: continues to work well after 15 months. Back doors don’t open wide enough but that is fixed fairly easily. Tailgate is a good design and I open it vertically and horizontally about 50% of the time. The inability to select a gear is an annoyance these days. My other vehicles have paddle shifters these days. Biggest complaint is that infotainment interface.

Smooth riding pickup
I went for the RTL-E trim as the it had all the options I was looking for. So far, this truck has delivered a smooth, quiet, and comfortable ride, yet it still delivers the hauling and utility capacity I was looking for. Great value compared to other same class mid-size pickups.

SUV Pickup
First let me say I've owned many, many new vehicles. Average one every two-three years. I always investigate thourghly before buying. I just bought this Ridgeline basically to try something different, even though many years ago I had other trucks. I traded my 2016 Nissan Murano which I might say is a awesome SUV & which I highly recommend. In fact I wouldn't be surprised to go back to another one but for now I'm happy with the Ridgeline. Its an excellent midsize truck which I would definitely recommend. I think if one was to try the other midsize trucks they will probably buy a Ridgeline. The Elite which I bought has all the bells & whistles of any high end SUV...very unusual for a truck & you get many more features that aren't even offered by the competition. It doesn't look much like a traditional truck but thats why I like it...it is much more modern looking, It doesn't take up the whole garage & does everything 90% of truck owners really need. As far as ride, handling, quietness, performance, roominess...well it is the top of the class...just as reviews have said. Drive one if you are looking for a practical midsize pickup & I'd bet you would buy. As a note I put a access bed cover on, Ridgeline running boards, illuminated sill plates, & tinted windows on mine. I also had a 2" leveling kit put on the front which makes the stance better looking (level) Mine is pearl white with beige interior. I'm looking into putting one size bigger tires & nicer wheels. Bigger tires only to better fill the wheel wells since I put a 2 inch lift in front as I mentioned earlier. Way it is now is just fine but I like something just a bit different then others.

one fantastic truck that is not really a truck.
After owning the new Tacoma (which was an absolute waste of money), an F150, Ram 1500 and Nissan Frontier, this Ridgeline is the most comfortable truck I have owned. It has great power, excellent fuel mileage and while it is not an off roader, I don't use my trucks for that anyway. The bed is much larger and more user friendly than the Tacoma and Frontier. The transmission is smooth unlike the terrible transmission in the Tacoma and Ram 1500. The interior is quiet and the stereo system is wonderful. I would prefer a more beefier look to the Ridgeline but all the pluses definitely outweigh this one negative. I am completely satisfied with my Ridgeline. I am disappointed in how much it can haul. After putting 10 bags of mulch in the bed, it looked like the rear end was almost dragging. Guess it is not made for the heavy workload. I have since traded in this truck for a real truck that can do real truck things.

The MacGyver of Pick-Ups
Just hit 35,000 miles. Runs perfectly. In-bed storage and flat rear floor with back seats folded up have proven so useful. Recent oil change and inspection at Honda showed everything in perfect condition. Now at 23,000 miles, this truck continues to perform flawlessly, with no repairs other than regular maintenance. It’s hauled gym equipment, furniture for a move to Cape Cod, and made regular visits to the town dump. Very competent in snow and unpaved roads. I've had three pick-ups previously -- a Silverado, a Titan and a Frontier. All were functional and satisfactory in almost every area. But the Ridgeline excels in almost every area. Rides beautifully, handles well, has plenty of pep and couldn't be more comfortable. The lockable rear storage, two-way tailgate and stowable back seats aren't gimmicks. They're really useful. Yesterday I hauled a half-cord of wood packed in a huge fabric bag (it just fit in the bed), backed into my garage with room to spare, opened the tailgate the unconventional way, and removed and stacked the wood without breaking a sweat. Our two 100-lbs-plus dogs are comfortable in the back on the flat floor with the seats stowed (I bought the neoprene covers to keep things clean), and I've got roof rails on order so I can transport my kayak and bike -- and get them on and off without needing a step ladder. Guys, don't fret about your image. If you don't need a heavy duty hauler the Ridgeline should definitely be on your shopping list. A year and almost 10,000 miles later I enjoy this truck even more. Not the most rugged of pickups, but so useful and comfortable. I can sit comfortably behind the wheel for hours. Absolutely problem-free.

Great 50th birthday gift to myself
Great mid size pickup. Rides like a dream/Cadillac. Fun to drive. I have a horse and have occasion to pick up/haul things for him. Downside is no OEM locking tailgate but this can be solved by the pop and lock PL8600 which will give you a locking tailgate. Very happy I purchased for myself.

AN AWESOME MISTAKE!
Ok so actually dont own a ridgeline......but wait, I've had the privilege to drive one for almost 3 weeks. Long story but my 2019 crv touring is at dealer for work after only 500 miles and they gave me the ridgeline. This truck is awesome. Most comfortable vehicle I have ever drove. I have owned and still own a full size truck and this thing beats them all. I would say that if you are looking to tow equipment or plow then this truck is not for you. But if you are looking for a daily driver that is comfortable, fun to drive and is good on gas, then this is perfect. Do yourself a favor and test drive one. It just makes sense. My favorite feature is the trunk under the bed. Did I mention that I'm 6 foot tall and this truck is comfortable?

Fondness of Honda's Trucklet!
The Ridgeline for me is a little like a swiss army knife. It easy to get in and out of, drives like a car, hauls every thing I want to. I don't agree with some reviews calling the interface hard to navigate . I'm 78 years old and I find it very intuitive and easy to navigate thru.

Love Ridgeline
Had Ranger and Sport Trac previously and will never go back after a year with the Ridgeline. Own rental properties and do most of the maintenance myself so regularly 'use' my truck. In Ridgeline, no wheel well means sheets of 4x8 plywood lay flat. The locking "trunk" keeps the junkies from tools without wasting bed space for a box. And the side-swing tailgate means I can reach that last bag of mulch without climbing in. Also hunt/fish and routinely haul canoe and tow SxS on 10ft trailer (Honda of course!). The Ridgeline is surprisingly large inside (my 'big' buddy remarked on it). Ride is better than any straight axle truck but where the Ridgeline really shines is handling. Trying to keep pace on a winding country road, the 2008 Ranger and Sport Trac would both be in the ditch in a couple miles. Test drove a couple late model GM twins and they wouldn't fare much better (haven't driven a new Ranger). Based on my experience the Ridgeline will also best most new F150s even off the line. The 3.5L 280hp V6 is quick. BTW - both Fords were pieces of sh*t and started imploding at 80k miles. The bad - infotainment system sucks. Bluetooth pairing is difficult and system sometimes freezes requiring a cycling of the engine. Using the steering wheel controls appears to help. Also - the styling. My dad asked why I bought the El Camino? Mine is a Sport; black with the charcoal rims, good tint, and limited chrome. It looks sharp especially when dressed up. And now he's looking for one. Live in WV and often see the guy with the F250 powerstroke, crew cab, extended bed, lift kit, and sparkling tow hitch trying to park at Kroger. And think to myself, that's what he drives everyday? Guarantee he hauls less than me and needs a ladder to get it. And probably tows less. Bottom line, I love the Ridgeline. It does everything I need in terms of towing and hauling (and I do more than the average person). But it drives like a car. And I can park it.

Unless you are a serious off-roader or haul an RV the size of a double-wide, this is the truck for you. It is roomy, comfortable and a joy to drive. My Ridgeline has all of the comfort of a well appointed SUV and still is more than capable of hauling the occasional load of 4x8 sheets of plywood - laying flat in the bed. The hidden lockable, watertight "trunk" below the bed is worth the price of admission, alone. I use it for storing all sorts of stuff, such as a couple of folding chairs, a air pump, bungee cords and a bunch of other stuff that's handy to have but rarely used.

2019 Ridgeline 18,000 mi underestimated
Things I tell people who ask me about my Truck. I am 72yrs old. I say its easy to get in and out, I love my power, I love my mpg My wife and I went into Canada from California with camping gear weight of 300 pounds in bed. I mostly got 28 mpg outside of California. I love my trunk in bed, Its wonderful but I have one problem with it, when I have tailgate open, I wish it had a stylish safety light when it is open, I am always worried when I am in trunk someone could back into me and hit tailgate or crush me. I have never have a problem really with hauling things , plywood, insulation, garden in bed yet. The ride is smooth, back door doesn't open far enough. My update is at 28,000mi The summer of 2020 I towed a 20' Gulf Stream Conquest empty weight, 3200 lbs, travel weight of 3500 lbs from Bay Area,Ca to Reno, then Crescent City,Ca. My mpg was as low as 9 and as high as 21mpg. It handle beautifully, never short on power. I have to make appointment with Honda for a whine sound in transmission, you can barely hear the whine. I did have trouble finding tow mirrors. I did extend my opening of the rear doors, I ordered front door stops and put them on the rear doors and they worked out great and easy to do for most people, I learn how to do it on you tube. I am getting 18 to 19mpg in with no trailer. I still love my Ridgeline.

4835 Mile Road Trip - 29.3 MPG!
What a ride - wife in the front seat, two Jack Russells in the back seat, and this truck performed flawlessly with quietness, great handling, and incredible fuel economy - all on many 80 MPH Highways! A great trip, and even better ride! Much-much better that my 2017 Toyota Limited Tacoma. As full disclosure - I did upgrade to a $2000 Pioneer sound system that offered a huge difference in sound quality. 14,500 miles in odometer now, this truck has been flawless!

The Swiss Army knife of small pick up trucks!
I’ve driven this truck for six months now, more or less and it's ok for what I use it for and it does have some pluses, and yes it's still the swiss army knife of small trucks but in the six months of driving it I have found some things they need to improve on. The infotainment system is horrible, it is past horrible I cannot believe someone actually designed this system and placed it on a vehicle but they did and we have it and there you go. Also, Honda spend a few bucks a put an owners manual in the vehicle that is not a one size fits all vehicles you pretty much make, that's just stupid. I've got three new vehicles and they're the only manufacturer who feels it needs to do this. Also, we live in the 21st century make the remote start available on your phone. Upgrade the camera system. There are so many neat things on the little truck that the simple things mentioned above could put it so far above other small trucks well it would be moved from a good little truck to a great little truck.

Best Truck I've Owned-- Including Tacoma
Drives better than Pilot and Avg. 25mpg---I've driven Z71, Tundra, Tacoma 4w 4dr.-- this blows them all away-- Gotten as high as 35 mpg on hwy, mountains, but never less than 23.5 town-- and drives like a lexus.--- If you travel your wife will love it. The grips about the Radio are unfounded-- it has Garmin guts and works great. Go drive one, you wont be sorry.

Great Ride - Good Interior - OK Electronics
I love the way my 2019 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E drives, just over 6,000 miles on it now. If your primary use is driving, get this truck. I debated over some larger trucks, US and Japanese models, and decided on the Ridgeline for its unparalleled driving comfort, handling and stability. I test-drove the F-150, Tundra and Tacoma, and all were too "trucky" for me. They looked beautiful on the outside, but the F-150 drove like a cement truck and the Tacoma had the visibility of a Sherman tank. The Tundra was an almost-bought, but they haven't done a full update on it in many years and its small-offset collision test results were abominable as a result. That sealed the deal with me on the Ridgeline - fantastic driveability, excellent crash test results and OK fuel economy. I drive mixed city/highway, and I would get over 21 except I sit in a lot of fast-food drive-thru windows so it comes down to around 19 mpg for me with about 50/50 city/highway driving. A few things I have noticed on the Ridgeline: It burns a lot of gas when idling compared to my previous vehicles (last one was an Outback 6cyl, so not quite apples-to-apples, but similar horsepower.) The Ridgeline is smooth and accelerates quickly. As others have noted, trucks designed to haul things have a stiff suspension when empty but smooth-out as they are weighted down. The Ridgeline is the opposite - it is smooth when light but gets bumpier the more weight you put in it. The trunk-in-the-bed is positively awesome - I use it for everything, far more than I expected - this was actually another key factor which helped me chose this vehicle over other manufacturers' products. The driver-assist computer is fine if you set it to all of the shortest distances. The auto-braking has kicked in a few times and works well, same for the lane departure and collision-mitigation and road-departure systems. My only two complaints are minor, but disappointing: the head unit lacks enough CPU power and RAM to switch quickly between screens, and taking 2 or 3 seconds between screens is a HUGE amount of time - Honda, fix this in future iterations - if someone pays $40K for a product, they expect the technology to perform with 21st century performance, not like it uses a Commodore 64 processor. Again, that is a small complaint, overall it is a fantastic truck. The other small complaint is interior lighting - in a very darkened environment, e.g. driving down a country road on a dark night, some controls are not easily visible, and just 2 or 3 extra LED pin-spots to light the darkened areas could fix the issue without adding to the sticker price. Synopsis: If your primary purpose is driving with occasional towing and hauling, buy this truck.

Owned Car 6 months
It's a truck that drives and feels like a big car. Smooth, quiet ride. It's the only pickup I've seen except for the Frontier, where you don't need a stepping stool to get inside. The back seats folds up so there is a wide area for storage on the floor. Most of the other trucks fold the backrest down, so storage area is not increased. The locked compartment under the bed allows for a good amount of storage. The tailgate opens down or hinges from the side so access to the bed is a bit easier. With 7000 miles on the truck, the mpg for mixed driving reads 24.3. However I frequently compute the actual mileage when I fill up. It is always 2+ mpg less than what the odometer reads. Don't like fake news. So I'm really getting 21-23 mpg for mixed town/highway driving. Getting used to the quantity of controls with buttons or voice control takes time to get used to. It can be a distraction. The buttons on the steering wheel, dashboard, and roof are hard to see at night. The bed is shallower than other pickups. The bed is also higher than other pickups, so it's less convenient to load heavier materials. Would like a little better design of the small storage nooks around the front seats. The button on the dashboard for the red warning blinkers is poorly located. When you touch the screen to select an option, your thumb rests on the warning light button and activates it.

More than enough for most truck owners
Probably more than 90% of the full size pickups on the road today never tow a trailer, carry anything heavy in the bed, or ever see any off-road use. But the #1 selling vehicle in the USA is a full size pickup. Why? Full size trucks ooze machismo. You may never need to tow 10,000lbs, but you could if you wanted to (insert Tim Allen grunt). You could make a more rational choice and move down to a mid-size truck, but let's face it. Those give you all the negatives of a big truck and none of the positives. This is where the Ridgeline comes in. It will tow more than the average owner will ever need. It will haul more in the back than most Home Depot runs require. It has considerably more room than any mid-size truck and not much less room than a full size truck, yet it still fits in the garage and gets acceptable fuel mileage. For the average truck owner, the Ridgeline is MORE than enough. Add in the practicality of the in-bed trunk and dual action tailgate, and you really see the value proposition blossom. The fact that you can get a truck with crew cab, AWD (full time), roomy cab, push button start, decent power, and decent fuel mileage all starting in the low 30's is a miracle. Try to option out a comparable Ford Ranger or Chevy Colorado with the same options and see how much it costs. I often hear people say the Ridgeline is not a "real truck". These people are probably related to the person who parks the shiny jacked up Jeep at the mall that hasn't got a speck of dirt on it. They think off-roading is a gravel driveway. Buying more than you need while spouting the mantra of "better to have an not need, than need and not have" is certainly understandable. Me? I'll keep my money, ride in comfort, and have enough capacity to do anything I'd want a truck to do.

1 Year of Ownership
I purchased my Ridgeline brand new in January 2020 for $28,800 OTD. So far I'm at approx. 22,000 miles (1 year) and have had no mechanical issues. I drive a lot in Western PA and West Virginia and the vehicle handles well in snow/rain (I have the awd), handles comfortably on twisty roads, quiet on the highway and I average anywhere from about 20 mpg around town and 25 ish on the highway. I've used it to haul my motorcycle in the bed, move furniture, haul a load of scrap and a few large appliances (washing machine/refrigerator). I have yet to tow with it. All in all I think it's an excellent vehicle for individuals looking for light utility cars cannot provide but don't have the need for a traditional truck. I upgraded from a Prius after a deer collision and the only thing I miss so far is the mpg. The in bed trunk is very useful and I use it for groceries, stinky gym/jogging clothes, tool storage, carrying bulky motorcycle riding gear among other things. The bed depth is shallow so owners need to be careful, I had a wheelbarrow in the bed upside down and it slid forward at a stop and the frame rails directly hit the rear window. Fortunately it didn't break. Pros: good handling/power, spacious, comfortable & useful cab (fold up rear seats), utility of bed and in bed trunk, decent MPG, AWD Cons: rear doors don't open wide (I plan on fixing this with later model door checks), some center stack buttons do not illuminate so I have to turn on overhead light to change things like fan speed, shallow bed, it could use another inch of ground clearance, base cloth seats blemish easily and differential fluid change intervals (every 15k or so). 12/30/2023 update: After 47 months and 80,500 miles of ownership I traded in the Ridgeline. All in all the Honda Ridgeline was an excellent vehicle that you can commute in, travel in inclement weather and haul things. In addition to the above things I hauled; more scrap loads, loads of drywall, lumber, bundles of insulation, approx 1.5 C.Y. of dry mulch about 3 or 4 times, kayaks with the tailgate down, lawn equipment etc... My only concern with the 2017-19 Ridgeline is the 6 speed transmission. I was starting to experience a strange noise around 2k rpm on the highway (from about 65k) and then a week before I traded it in a real hard shift while driving. Not wanting to experience replacing a transmission I traded it in for a Jeep Gladiator. If the Gladiator doesn't work out I'll be back in another new Ridgeline with the 9 speed transmission. If you are reading this and considering a used Ridgeline please avoid the 17-19 due to the 6 speed transmission.

Why isn’t 2020 Ridgeline being sold?
Bought 2019 Ridgeline in June 2018 expecting to replace it with a 2020 a year later. But Honda won’t say when they Will release 2020 model. Ride is better than Toyoto Tacoma but why is Honda trying to be so secretive about selling a vehicle? I will probably buy a Ranger or Tacoma this month without having been able to compare them to 2020 Ridgeline

Noise/Vibration Problem with Active Motor Mounts
The 2019 Ridgeline makes a buzzing noise (think woodpecker on sheet metal) when cruising around 40MPH with light acceleration, especially with cruise control. This is likely a software bug in active motor mounts control system. When working correctly, the software should cancel engine noise, but in this case the software actually creating the noise problem. I took my new Ridgeline back to the dealer after 3 weeks, 1000 miles. The service manager tested another vehicle off the showroom floor, and it had the same problem. He told me that is no service recommended for the problem i.e. too bad. I also contacted Honda corporation and was told that nothing can be done at this time. This is unacceptable for a $40,000 truck! I plan to trade it in for some other brand next summer. Avoid this truck!
Awesome Truck!
Have owned this truck for 1 month, so far no complaints. Great ride, safely features on the RTL-E are well worth the extra cost for this model. Perfect size, not to big or small. Have owned 4 Honda’s, all extremely reliable, just basic maintenance... Have owned truck for 1 year now, still no complaints. Took truck on 1100 mile trip to Maine, very impressive gas mileage, at least 25 mpg on the road. Truck is 2.5 yrs old now, still love it. Most recent trip to North Carolina truck averaged 28mpg, can’t beat that! Truck is 3yrs old now, still love'n it! Only one complaint, the arm rests. Wish they were fixed and built into the center console.

Love my Ridgeline!
I have had my 2019 RTL-E Ridgeline for about 2 months. I love this truck. The ride and comfort are second to none. You cant believe you are in a truck. I dont tow and if I am offroad it is because I have lost control of the vehicle. Perfect vehicle for those who only need the capabilities of a truck occasionally and want the comfort of a high end SUV full time.

WHAT A TRUCK!! DRIVES LIKE A SUV!!
I've been looking about 3 months. I test drove this truck 1st time and I was sold! Had an idea of what I wanted. My husband did research. Felt we needed the RLT E. He was right!! All leather, power seats both driver and passenger, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, roomy for tall people, I'm short and have no problems seeing over the steering wheel and reaching the peddles, nice navigation screen, which you can also transfer a small mini screen on your dash speedometer, an area to download aps, that's just a small perk of the audio and navigation screen....there are so many more options that I just can't go into!! A deffinate tailgating truck!! Has speakers in the back bed of the truck. You can transfer from main cab to the back bed!! Tailgate opens 2 different ways!! The trunk under the truck bed is huge...it even has a drain if you make it into an ice chest!! It's fun...it's roomy...its quite...you can't tell it's running sometimes...you never feel a hard shift...and you have to watch how fast you drive....because you'll never know how fast and then you look at the speedometer...then look around for police as you slow down. Has SENSORS for your lights and knows automatically when to turn brights on(a feature you can turn off if need be). Has an A.C. adapter to plug into(for you hair dryer..lol). Has 4 features for driving which determines from normal snow, sand, mud. Has steering assist! Has sensors all around truck , 3 different views on backup camera. I miss the lane watch on passenger side, they make up for it with blind spot information(still wish they would of kept lane watch as well) it's still on the black edition and the RTL T. This truck has it all!! I CAN ONLY SAY...I LOVE THIS TRUCK!!!

Old Man Pickup
The only criticisms I see are that the Ridgeline is an old man's truck and it's not as good as the other competitive 4x4 pickups. Well at 77 years old I'm an old man who has owned lots of trucks and I like a truck that drives like a car. It's got lots of pep (very good acceleration), good MPG (particularly when in the ECON mode), tons of locked storage and more storage under the rear seats. I don't need to do major off roading but I do appreciate the various weather conditions you set it on - like snow and rain. My only criticism is that the navigation system has too much data on the screen at one time so it's hard to quickly decipher it with a quick glance. But, the basic turn info also appears on the speedometer screen which is a nice feature. Bottom line - I'm very happy with my Ridgeline. My suggestion for buyers - check out the differences with the various models and don't feel you have to settle for white or black, my deep maroon is awesome.

The Perfect mid-sized truck
Great looks inside and out. Ride and handling are superior. Safety technology is impressive. Turning radius blows away every other mid-sized truck. It drives and rides like a car but, can load up the bed and tow 5,000 lbs. The 2019 Honda Ridgeline is the Perfect mid-sized truck!

The only pickup that feels like an SUV !
We were not looking for a truck that felt like a truck. This thing rides and feels like a beefy Honda Pilot, and that’s a good thing if you are wanting a family commute vehicle with a good sized bed for hauling home larger stuff from Costco, IKEA, and Home Depot. The top line RTL-E trim had absolutely everything we needed. The T trim was nice and more affordable but we just felt like it is a little lacking in the features we had become accustomed to as standard in lesser Accord trims like seat memory, parking sensors, sound.... Economy mode saves 2 mpg or more in our experience of highway only driving, but it is really only worth it on long drives. The truck is so much more agile with it off around the city at a cost of only about 1 mpg in our experience for mixed and city driving. The in-bed trunk is so roomy and handy we use it all the time and are amazed at how much fits in there. We love that it locks automatically just like the doors when we lock or walk away from the vehicle. The only complaint we have so far is the factory limit on the rear doors opening width of less than 24” practically. Definitely planning soon to follow suggestions for resolving that issue.

Honda Ridgeline
Great--fuel efficient, interior quiet--minimal road noise, room interior, great bed liner, modern look.
Design Flaw
I looked at every mid size truck out there. Really wanted to buy the 2019 Ridgeline due to the best safety ratings, technology, comfort and style. I found that the Ridgeline had a very weird design flaw compared to all other mid-size trucks... the second row doors do not open fully. In fact, they hardly open a full three fourth of the way. So strange that they market being able to put a bike, snowboard, etc on the floor of the second row, yet you can't even fit it through the door! It would have been so easy to have just made the hinges longer to get a full opening on the second row doors like the front, yet every year I have checked it's still the same. Also, shouldn't have to spend 4k more in the trim to get the blind spot technology. This stuff should be standard now.

! Month review
Could not rate some categories like 'Reliability' due to lack of mileage/use in less than one month. However, at this point I can say I have absolutely no problems with the vehicle thus far. The ONLY disappointment I have is that the radio stops functioning upon shutting the engine off; most vehicles go into an 'Accessory' mode when the ignition is turned off (i.e., leaving the radio on). To get the radio back on one must push the 'Start Engine' button twice and then it takes about 15 seconds for the radio to come back on. This is a very small but important gripe, I'm sure there is an easy software fix.

Almost a great Puck-up
I was ready to purchase the Black Edition of the Ridgeline but after test driving I decided to wait for the updated model which hopefully improved would become available at the end of 2018. It is a very noce car, if somebody likes Honda Pilot will like the Ridgeline even though Honda decided to make the latter model more up to competition, e.g., infortainment system, available in higher trims ventilated seats. It looks like Honda uses the old program for navigation, old graphics and the enterem system is not fast, I’d say is slow responsing and iritating. I am a tall guy, 6’3” to be precise rather normally build but I am pręty sure that ever driver over 6’ tall would have some kind of problem with the leg room which is the smallest among ALL PICK-UPS. When you offer leather as the only option for your seats in the two highest trims and you have to get them if you like the full range of safety features and asking for these trims (RTL-E and Black Edition) over $40G Honda unlikly in Canada is not offering the ventilated seats. I just believe that in Chicago and other even hotter parts of the centry this feature would be greatly appreciated. The info needs not only software updates but two phisical knobs, one for valume and another for changing what would make operating this system easier. The back benchmark is OK for the Short trip but putting there two kids for a long trip is like looking for a big problem and the kids should not be blame for it. The last issue I have with this smoothly moving vehicle is as somebody mentioned this before, the tailgate is as Honda proudly called double action taigate but why it is not lockable, why the owner is not able to secure his cargo, why there is not locking mechanizm? I Honda Files this not big but bothering me problems the Black Edition would become my everyday boddy.

Fantastic but begs to have bigger tires/lift
I lifted it two inches and put bigger tires which made it look badass. I got the loaded truck but I’d get the base model if doing it again and just add the lift and tires. The techno gizmos aren’t worth it.pulls a bass boat with ease. Best tailgate and rear storage out there!! Add a can of sea foam every other fillup and you’ll get 2-4 more mpg! this is the best truck i have ever owned. I've had f150s, ram 1500s, chevy 1500s, 3/4 tons, one tons and many different brands, but his honda is the best overall truck i ever had. best ride best storage easy to drive and park. its a great all around truck as long as you dont need to pull a heavy load etc. it pulls a bass boat fine. can't go wrong with this truck!!!!
