2019 Honda Ridgeline Too Hard to Leave Behind

After viewing and reviewing midsize trucks for months, I made the call and purchased a 2019 Honda Ridgeline. Having owned many other Hondas through the years and giving the Ridgeline a challenging look, I had my decision. I drove my new Ridgeline home and never looked back. Excellent decision.

I would ay this is probably the best vehicle I have owned and I am 69 but there a few items that may concern some people. First if you have passengers in back the access is not good. The door does not open at a wide angle and it is difficult for some to get in and out. I understand this is better in the 2020 model. The headlights are not very bright. I also understand that certain models do have LCD headlights but not all. Then there is the information system that does not have a volume knob. You quickly learn to use the the steering wheel volume knob but that does not work for passengers. Sometimes the system does not recognize your phone when it is connected. It can be frustrating. Overall, the many positive features outweigh the negative ones by a wide margin. It is a great truck for what it intended to so. <br>

Hands down the handiest vehicle we've ever owned. Such a smooth and slick travel vehicle while also providing so much versatility when it comes to handling people and cargo. All this coupled with an awesome AWD system makes this our favorite Honda ever, and we have had a bunch of them through out the years.

I replaced my 2006 Ridgeline after 300,000 trouble free miles. These trucks last a very long time if you take care of it and use synthetic oils. Honda is a world class automobile manufacturer in my opinion. I love the ride and quietness of this truck. Highly Recommended.

Great Gentleman's Truck

This is NOT the truck if you haul heavy loads or a heavy trailer or RV. It is also not the best for severe off road rally races. It is, however, a great truck for light everyday use. The V6 is peppy and delivers decent mileage (20 mpg) around town. It is good for hauling mulch, getting plants, moving furniture, all the stuff I actually need to do. The AWD is great in Western New York snow. The truck has several simple but unique features. I love the tailgate that opens down or swings Like the old station wagons from the 1960's. Putting a lockable trunk in the bed is pure genius. Holds everything I need including tools, tie downs, blankets, etc. And it is water proof. Although it also has a removable drai. Plug so you can use it as a giant cooler as well. A really great vehicle

This is my 2nd Ridgeline. It’s very comfortable for long trips. Back and forth from LA to Hickory NC five times. Not one thing bad has ever happened. Everything has worked like new. 60000 mi on it now. I might get a third one unless the cybertruck comes out before I get to a 100,000 mi.

Transmission fails after 60k warranty

I have had the 2019 Ridgeline since it came out in 2019. I have 73k miles on it and have used its lightly. If you wish to tow anything do NOT buy this vehicle. The rating they give it for towing is way off. We have a 2400lb small teardrop trailer and towed it up to Michigan and back to Florida. That was all the transmission could take. We were VERY careful, still it failed. There was a dealer notice that they spec'd the wrong transmission fluid, but that didn't seem to matter at the service department. Nice car, but NOT a truck.

Sub-Par Brakes! Caution!

Initially, I thought this would be my "Goldilocks" vehicle. Not too big, or small and perfect for my needs. I have a 2019 RTL-E which I bought new and the brakes are horrible. Pedal sinks half-way to the floor, very spongy feeling and are practically useless in a panic-stop situation. I'm really afraid this vehicle has a major defect and Honda is ignoring it. I have complained to the dealership and Honda. Both say "It's fine & normal." I won't be keeping this vehicle much longer as I truly feel it is unsafe!

Do your home work. Hope that you get a salesman that knows as much about the vehicle as the sales rep I had. He seem to know all about the the ridge and answered all the questions I had.

Had Ridgeline back to dealer multiple times for problems, more than I ever had any of my Subaru's. Not comfortable with dealer and dealer policies. I needed a truck and this is all I needed in a truck. Just the right size and features. Still miss my Subaru. Wish Subaru would make equivalent.

More water gets in than stays out

Disappointing, not worth the money for the quality of manufacture. Hood flexes and vibrates at highway speeds. If you have a headwind or strong gusts its down right scary watching the hood flex. Very poorly engineered and designed in this respect. This has also been an issue since the first model year and not addressed in subsequent years. 2017 to 2021 Ridgelines. Water leaks into the truck so quickly that after a 2 days outside in light rain (all day overcast type light rain) there was a visible puddle of water on the back seat. Considering the depth of the foam and carpet, this is about 2 inches of water pooled into the back seat floor. This has also been an issue on the Ridgeline sine the first model year. 2017 to 2021 Ridgelines. The obvious complete lack of effort in improving the product, or addressing known issues, is negligent. No recall or TSB's covering the water leak. Recall for the hood latch striker and there is a TSB for hood flexing. First and last Honda product from my experience so far.
