Well tuned vehicle - but why not much more for th?
Top of the line, 2019 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition. Comfortable and safe driver, all day long front seats. Handling is super good. Nicely tuned trans to engine, and all of the technical safety features - though most are far too sensitive and wear on the nerves constantly sounding. Adaptive cruise control, but disengages at a lower speed - why??? Fit and finish typically good Honda, and amazing space for the front seat occupants. Engine power is adequate. The touchscreen/radio/nav is pretty much a nightmare to operate - worst I have ever experienced. Voice commands are not intuitive. Horrendous, not-wide folding center arm rests are a total loser. Top of the line and no turn signals on side mirrors? Turn signals are buried on the bottom fascia - it makes me feel like my vehicle is blind to other drivers. Rear doors do not open anywhere near wide enough. Back seats are pretty much useless, as only a small child can fit in them. The trunk/cooler in the rear bed is a neat idea, unless you have a tonneau cover - then it becomes a real knuckle buster. Great two way door in the bed. Asthetically, the wheels are a four out of ten (with locking wheels - like anyone would want to steal those things?). The piano key trim is impossible to keep clean and smudge free, and I literally must use plastic polish just to wipe them off. Overall, a decent vehicle, but for the price should be so much more and certainly better, more thoughtful design items.

Not very Ridgeline happy
Was so excited when I bought my 2019 Honda Ridgeline RTL-T, I figured with Honda's reputation, I would have this truck a very long time, at the first oil change, there was a recall on the truck which Honda took care of. I babied this truck for a year and the first warm day, this week, discovered the air didn't work, carried it to the dealer and the air conditioner compressor has gone out and with only 6,100 miles on the truck, is going to have to be replaced, so much for Honda reliability. Is it just me or should you expect more out of a $40,000 vehicle.

nice car but....
1. Smallest legroom in the class. 2. No way to locked and securing the tailgate. 3. No ventilated seats in the car with the only option of leather seats on higher trims like in Canada for example. 4. The navigation without the knobs for channels change or volume adjusting and very shiny glassy screen prone to finger prints is slow and difficult to use. The car drives like an SUV not a typical pickup, the cabin is quiet and roomy but leg room in the front is small, the back door don't open very wide which may make a problem when loading or unloading long, fix object like a flat 60' TV or a maintain bike. For a long or a short trip for somebody with a average high it is a very easy to live with pick up, the most comfortable in the class for sure. I wouldn't mind to get a lower trim but I would have to give up with a lot of safety features available only on the higher trims and when deciding to spend close to $40G my expectations are higher than for a vehicle $10G cheaper. It is a good looking, easy to drive everyday pickup for an average Joe but with not so many options available to personalize the vehicle.

Great truck but needs more power
I purchased my RTL-E in October of 2019. The truck is extremely comfortable, and rides great. This is not a "work" truck - it is used for commuting and picking up things for projects around the house. All in all I am very happy with my purchase, but do think that Honda charges more than they should for these trucks. I do have a few complaints with the truck. 1) In my opinion, this truck is severely under-powered - it cannot get out of it's own way. It needs another 40 or 50 HP. 2) For the amount of money I spent on the truck, this model should have door lock sensors on the back doors. Even my old 2005 Avalon Limited had sensors on all 4 doors. I hate having to stand in front of the driver side door to open the rear doors, so I can put my brief case in every morning. 3) There are back-up camera's and sensors that alarm when you approach an obstacle. There are sensors that warn you when your front bumper corners approach an obstacle. However, when parking straight on, there are no sensors that guide you when to stop. This is very annoying. All in all, a great truck, but does need some improvement.

2019 RTL-E Extremely Functional Vehicle
This truck is excellent when it comes to room in its class my kids and adults alike can fit in the back seat..the lockable trunk is also extremely useful. The bed tie downs are plentiful and the swing tailgate is very useful. Carry 4x8s is a breeze since there’s not wheel wells protruding out on the sides of the bed. Only cons I’d say are the ground clearance would like a few more inches, no volume control knob, and an terrible infotainment system. However if you use android auto or apple car play it’s kinda of a null point. Traded in my F-150 and really don’t regret a thing. Leased it 6 months ago but like it so much I’ll probably buy it at the end of the lease!

Emissions evaporation leak
I purchased a new Honda Ridgeline in 2020. At 7K miles, the engine light came on with the message Emissions Problem so I took the car to the dealer and they replaced the evaporator under warranty. Less than 3k miles later, the same engine light warning appeared with the same issue. The dealer replaced the evaporator again under warranty. Today, at 12K miles, I have another engine warning light is on the dashboard showing emission system problem. I took the car to O'Reilly Auto Parts and the technician scanned the computer system and the message is "emissions evaporator leak" take the car to the dealership for repairs. That's 3 times for the same issue. I'm from Massachusetts and I'm going to inquire about the lemon law in this state. Does anyone else have this problem on a 2019 Ridgeline?
Just a Test Drive
Took a Honda Ridgeline rtl-e out for a test drive. Went about 30 miles total, 20 of them on the interstate. Road smooth, drove straight, and the acceleration from a standing start was awesome. As most know, it's not a normal pickup truck. it's based on the Honda pilot, so it's it's a little lower than other pickup trucks which is great for my wife who is only 5ft 2in. Really like the hidden storage in the bed. When the front seat is all the way back, leg space for a full size rear passenger is limited.

Smooth
This is a great truck. I had two accord sports and loved how comfortable they were. Got in truck I thought I was in my accord. This a great truck for hauling the things you need a truck for. The trunk in the bed of the truck is great for hauling groceries and can be used as a cooler just load it with ice and away you go keeping your favorite beverages cold and a drain for the water when your ice gives out. She is beautiful truck. Buy one you won’t regret I promise.

I love it, mostly...
I've had the Ridgeline for 7 months. In general, I love it. It rides like a car, is comfortable, great looking, functional, and I got a very fair deal. However, this is my first Honda and I guess that I expected more from such a well respected company. The first issue I had was finding out that my 2019 truck didn't have my home address, not even the street, which has been here for 4 years. Really Honda, you shipped a vehicle with 2015 GPS info? Secondly, the voice activated phone is a joke. I'll never use it because it NEVER understands any name and if you finally say it exactly how it wants it, you then realize that the name you ask for will come up in 5 different versions, most that have nothing to do with the right person. So if you are a tech geek, you will hate this truck. Fortunately for me, I care more about the meat and potatoes and there is much to love here.

nice stuff mediocre electronics LOUSY warrantee
Worst of the worst is Honda's warantee and attitude. .My radio started developing intermittent problems at <5000 mile, Their attitude is to relate to it ONLY if they can replicate it, even if you show ample proof (photos, videos) of a failure. When they finally find the problem they give you someone else's problem that they call "re-manufactured". I am on the third """re-manufactured"" system, each with different problems, and Honda simply refuses to replace it with a new unit. The truck itself has many nice features like the dual gate opening, ride quality, and I do not have a problem my 2500 Lb boat. They have some weird quirks such as complete lack of any indication of low wiper fluid... Find out when it runs out on the road in a snow storm... The electronics is mediocre to sub mediocre with the worst going to the infotainment system. As with most cars today if you replace it with aftermarket you give up most car specific features. As I said, Honda's careless attitude towards clients and their responsibilities to the clients, combined with the lousy quality of their electronics (search the web) is the reason why I would recommend to anyone to stay away from this truck, and as far as I am concerned, from ANY honda.

Poor performance
Brake pedal feel very soft and has long travel. You have to give yourself a little more braking distance. There is an annoying wind noise from driver side window starting at 30 mph. Very very poor heated seats performance. Seats never get hot even though you had it set on high. It takes a very long time (10 to 15 minutes) for it to get warm, and when it get warm it shut off right away. Passenger heated seat, it never works. The vehicle has 34 miles on it when purchased. I brought it back to service a week later for the seats heater problems. Of course they could't find anything wrong with it. They told me that, it just how the vehicle was made.

Still Wow
I'm at about 6 years and 55k now. I purchased this truck for my 5-3 Wife and I. We both love most everything about it. It is quiet, smooth, comfortable and very flexible to fit our life style. It has been rock solid, problem free. I would buy another one. Best ride I've owned. Dislikes - Small rear view mirror, lack of blind spot warning on this trim, no tailgate lock(dumb).

Surprise. Consumer reports was right.
Great riding package. Trunk or bed is a tad shallow with the Toneau Cover in place. The two way tail gate is a super addition. Plus the lockable trunk in the bed was an unexpected bonus. The towing capacity is less than most trucks but realistically most towing is for less than the capacity .

One little thing tho...
I really like my Ridgeline. Getting an average of 22 MPG and I can't complain. Just used it thru a Minnesota winter and it handled extremely well in the snow and slop. I didn't think of the swingout tail gate as a plus for me, but after driving it for 6 months I wouldn't do without it!! The one thing I would change or do different is that it should come with the widow visors standard, or improve the window design. I did not get the visors and I suggest to anyone that is buying a ridgeline to invest in them. I like to drive with my window cracked a bit and with any rain that is impossible, the water will pretty much pour in if it is at all raining. I just ordered my visors, $375!! and am thinking they might have been cheaper if I would have included them in a package at purchase. Also, the hood seems loose, passing a semi or in strong wind the hood shakes. Honda was able to do nothing with that. Other than that, I LOVE MY TRUCK!! Update: been 3 years now, still love it. Still have no issues, still getting 22mpg. Still HATE the loose hood!

This little TRUCK will not disappoint you
I have had my Ridgeline since September of 2019. I looked for a truck that would be useful for my needs around the house. I did not need a construction site size vehicle and the Ridgeline was rated very high in reviews. I bought the RTL-E and have never looked back. It rides like a car with the convenience of a Pickup. It gets 22 to 23 mpg and that is so much better than any other truck we looked at. I am not really fond of the VCM system but looked around and found a VCM muzzler kit that eliminates the function of that system it is so simple to install and has cause zero issues and never had a check engine light. The truck has plenty of power for my needs. I have right at 35000 miles in it and it just keeps getting better. I recently changed the factory tires and put a set of Michelin Defenders on it and the ride improved and the road noise level diminished to a very comfortable level. I have had only small issues with the truck. The outside mirrors had to be replaced but it was under warranty and it was a known issue for the 2019 Ridgeline/ Pilot and Passport. Other than that I have done the scheduled maintenance mostly myself because it is so easy. I just did a transmission filter and fluid change that took about an hour. I have changed the rear differential fluid every 15000 miles as recommended and have changed the transfer drive fluid once. I have only done filter changed and wiper blade changed other than that. I think the Ridgeline is a great little truck and if yours is as good as mine you will be more than happy with the purchase.

IT DRIVES LIKE A SUV, BUT IS A TRUCK...nice!
I had purchased a ford fiesta to replace my wife's ford Forcus, but it broke and I had to replace. I decided on the Honda fit. Honda had spent years making small cars and this had won top awards over the years. Since I wanted to replace my Ranger I looked at the Honda Ridgeline. I was impressed with its safety features, functions and ratings. Four independent suspension, drives like a car; all wheel drive, rain and snow you feel secure, and collision avoidance system it adds confidence as you drive.

Great Everyday Suburbia Truck
I've had the truck about 4 months and 5000 miles. I don't tow, haul, or do much truck stuff, but I've owned the new Tacoma and even a 2014 Ram 1500 in the past. The Honda by far is a superior truck for people who want a truck when needed but not the rough ride, bad gas mileage, or cramped interiors of other mid-size trucks. The good: For 2020 this truck is an amazing deal for what you get; Roomiest interior for any mid-size truck; SUV-like interior offers more nooks and crannies for things; Rear seats fold up which is awesome; gas mileage is ok in town (17) and good on HWY (22 --This compares almost directly with a 4x4 Tacoma or 4x4 Colorado; the trunk in the bed is huge and amazing and used all the time since it can be locked; the ride is smooth and quiet; The AWD system is amazing... I think it's better than our 2019 Subaru Ascent. The not so good: The turn radius is much wider than other mid-size trucks-- but still better than a full size truck; 2019 RTL models have no modern safety features which are now standard for 2020; The radio is horrible!!! BUT -- it was easily replaced with Kenwood Apple Car Play radio for minimal investment; the look of the truck is a bit polarizing and not for everyone...HOWEVER, a new set of wheels make a huge difference. The truck can take one size up without modification. I bought 17" KMC XD Holeshots with 255/65-17 white letter General Grabbers -- The truck looks 100% better!! Other than that there are not real draw backs as long as you don't expect to use this truck as a rock climber or a daily heavy hauler.

Hands Down, My Best Vehicle!
I purchased my 2019 RTL-E AWD in September of 2019 after months of research and narrowing my choices down to the 4-Runner, Tacoma and Ridgeline. After missing out on a great deal on a 2019 Tacoma TRD Sport, I made an appointment to test drive this Ridgeline, which was also priced very well($34K). I haven't regretted the purchase for a second. Not only does it ride superbly, even with five adults (comfortably) seated, it has handled the wintry Michigan roads better than any of the Jeeps I have owned(Liberty, Patriot & Renegade Trailhawk). It cuts through slushy roads with ease and though there has been less snowfall this winter, I have gone through about 6'' of snow in Snow Mode, with no issue. It has tremendous room; as stated above, five adults rode comfortably on a pretty long in-state road trip. It's surprising how comfortable the rear seats are, considering they can be flipped up, to open up the rear for more storage. The lockable trunk is a highlight in itself! In addition to offering lots of dry, secure storage, I often use it to store groceries, keeping them cold in the winter if I don't go straight home after shopping. It has great power coming from the engine, even in Economy Mode, which I use almost exclusively. I love the remote start and the heated seats, in the winter. The stereo is easy to use and has terrific sound. I do wish there was satellite radio compatibility, but that just saves me subscription costs in the long run. The only other feature I miss is a built in compass. I'm happy with the mileage, considering I was getting around 22 MPG with my 4 cylinder Renegade and I am currently averaging over 20 with the 6 cylinder and several days of letting it warm up on the cold mornings. This is my first Honda, but I know from close friends that they're highly reliable. This will do anything I need in a truck, with a much smoother ride. I can't recommend this vehicle enough. Update 8/2020 Closing in on a year of owning the Ridgeline and I couldn’t be happier with it! The MPG’s have gone up over the warm months and I’m currently averaging just shy of 25 MPG. I have not had a single issue with the vehicle since I bought it and I’m very happy with the service department at the dealership; a 180 from the dealership I purchased my last two vehicles from. The only two things I think could be improved are having an in-dash compass and the cruise control is still taking some getting used to because there’s no display to let you know what speed you’re setting it at, and it seems to add a couple MPH to where I thought I set it to. I could not care less about friends and family saying it’s not a “truck”, because it’s everything I need in a truck, and I’ve been in some dicey off-road situations and though it’s clearly not a Tacoma, it got me out some places I shouldn’t have taken it. Buy one, you won’t regret it!

Dealerships don't have to have to honor warranty
I love my ridgeline. The trunk in the bed is awesome! Unlike other midsize and small trucks, I can fit a full sheet of plywood in the bed without going over the wheelwells (tailgate down). The tailgate that opens down and also like a door is very convenient. The all wheel drive is awesome. I was driving on the beaches of the outer banks and I had more control than the jeeps. I see only two weaknesses in the vehicle, but one weakness in the Honda brand in general. The vehicle does not have a full size spare tire and the bed is shallow (not as deep as most pickups). I like the shallow bed, because I can more easily reach the bottom of the bed when standing next to the truck, but the volume of the bed is smaller than other trucks (but can still fit a full sheet of plywood with the tailgate down. The biggest problem may be with the Honda name. Apparently, because the dealerships are all privately owned, they can choose not to honor the warranty on your vehicle. The dealership can charge you $139 for a diagnostic to determine if something is wrong with your vehicle, and they tell you that the fee will go away if the part is under warranty. But, then they can turn around and say they don't cover it and you're stuck paying $200 for a bulb that was covered under the factory warranty. Both Honda corporate and another dealership told me that the bulb was covered, but Honda North (of Danvers, MA) decided that it was not!

my second choice but ended up getting it!
My first choice was Tacoma based on earlier reviews read but after doing test drives the Ridgeline had better interior material quality, driving comfort and gas mileage. Bigger bed size and unique dual-action tailgate. I have already hauled a half ton of sand and gravel and this truck handled it very easy. Putting in and pullout out any item on the bed was also easy using the side action tailgate considering my average height! The only issue I had was having to have the AC repaired twice. Got the truck new and AC was not blowing cold air after a month. Had it repaired and same issue happened again after 2 months and it was the start of summer! finally got it fixed. Been to Home depot and Lowes several times to get some stuffs for the backyard and front yard and people in the parking lot gets amazed to see a truck with side action tailgate and in-bed trunk:-). Overall, I'm more than satisfied having this truck. Its unique features exceeded my expectations.

2019 Ridgeline Sport
Nice truck, rides well with plenty of storage room. It's just too bad you can't get navigation and Android play without upgrading a couple of levels.
Does Everything and More
I've owned the full sized trucks. Along with them I've paid for the irritating and expensive minor and major repairs, poor fuel mileage and rough ride. My Ridgeline does everything I ask it to do and I am still in the construction trade. As a matter of fact, it does everything with much more ease, comfort and reliability. In fact, I would say, if you need more truck than this, jump to a 3/4 ton because you need the payload and towing and that's it. This is, by far, the best truck I have ever owned. The dual swing tailgate, rugged and wide enough box bed and multiple tie-downs impress me every time I use them. Not to mention the plush ride, quiet interior and easy parking. I pull my 16ft trailer with only a little effort. I track through snow and mud past the other guys. My impression on the job site is more about me than my truck! Maybe YOU need a bigger truck.

Transmission toast 2x in 60k miles
My first transmission went out at around 10k miles I only pulled a small boat on one trip. It was under warranty so Honda changed it out. That transmission never pulled anything and starred Going out at 59,900. I was going over a hwy pass with no load just me in the truck and my transmission got so hot when I stopped it was smoking. This happened 3 or so times in one trip. Honda knows my mileage and is trying to skate on the issue so far. Otherwise it’s a cool truck. Also the guy in the service department said they should have never put a hitch on that thing!?!?

2019 Honda Ridgeline - good, bad and the ugly
Bought a very low mileage 2019 Ridgeline RTL-E just over 3.5 years ago and now have about 47K completely trouble-free miles on it. It does pretty much everything I need from a truck, including towing a 19' boat and hauling light loads to the dump. On average I get about 25mpg in mixed driving. On the highway I often get around 30mpg. It drives more like an elevated car without the jittery "truckiness" that comes with a full frame truck. The lockable trunk in the bed is probably my favorite feature and that gets used all the time. Thought that I would be using the in-bed audio system more often, but it doesn't sound good and is a one-off party trick at best. Fit and finish are holding up OK, although there are some details that seem off putting in a $40K+ vehicle. Simple things like the lack of French stitching on the front armrests, they just look plain and unfinished and don't match the seats, and look almost aftermarket in quality. The brake rotor hubs are always rusted, other vehicles have them painted or galvanized, why does Honda cheapen the look of the truck by leaving out such a simple fix? A couple alloy wheels have a whitish growth under the clearcoat. Remains to be seen if this will be covered by the extended tire and wheel warranty. The audio system is underwhelming, why doesn't Honda offer Bose in the top trims? The digital speedometer font is just weird and (thankfully) doesn't match anything else and the video screen control was better on an Odyssey from 10 years ago. The lack of a video screen joy stick, or a volume knob (since corrected in 2021) is disappointing. Android audio sometimes doesn't connect and I get a no device connected message. It takes a key cycle to correct this error which never happens at the dealership. I love the LED DRL's and low beam headlights and changed my foglights to LED's too. Again Honda chooses to cheapen the truck by having regular halogen bulbs in the foglights giving off a yellowish light looking odd against the crisp white of the LED's, and the high beams are also not LED's on my truck. The tailgate doesn't lock with the rest of the vehicle, why not Honda? I installed a locking kit from Honda that uses a key to lock the tailgate after also installing a tailgate cover. I also changed the rear door stops to slightly longer ones available from Honda that allow the rear doors to open wider. All of this should have been factory installed and I blame it on the cost cutting bean counters. I definitely prefer the MY'22 upgrade to the front end, looks much bolder and is a significant upgrade to the somewhat droopy face of my '19. I really enjoy the truck, but it could be so much better with some meaningful improvements, and not just HPD lipstick. Really hope Honda is listening. Now at 60k miles, the interior is holding up well and the wheels were refinished onsite under the extended warranty. The extended warranty also included paintless dent removal which was used to repair a couple dings and a few small dents caused by an elderly woman in a parking lot and a run-in with a large buck. Amazing really what these dent removal folks can do in your driveway, and 100% covered by the extended warranty. It definitely was worth the cost and paid for itself probably 2X. The 19’ boat was traded in for a 22’ tritoon and the Ridgeline works well enough to launch the boat and haul it to the marina for storage. I wouldn’t recommend the Ridgeline for long-haul driving with this heavy of a load though (about 4500lbs) as it definitely puts a strain on the truck. The only other issue I have had is the main display that sometimes becomes pixilated with weird colors while driving using Waze, but it always corrects itself after a few minutes or after an on/off cycle. The truck has been averaging nearly 25mpg with mixed driving. Honda could also vastly improve the HondaLink app. Unlike competitors who offer remote starting and significantly more vehicle details in the app, HondaLink is pretty much useless.

Ridgeline Review by Owner
Good value, plenty of power, friendly infotainment system, comfortable, good gas mileage, nice looking. I like driving this truck. And yes, it IS a truck. Handling is great and I've driven it in snow, heavy rain and sand and I had no problems. The only thing I would change is to add a few more inches of leg room for the driver's seat and I'm only 5' 11".

Not Enough Room Inside
I was seriously considering going back to a truck and looked at the Ridgelines. I am a Honda Fan and absolutely love my accord coupe. I purchased the accord Coupe in 2013 over the mustang because it offered more leg room for a man over 6 foot tall with long legs. After sitting in the new Ridgeline and taking it for a test drive it felt cramped even with the drivers seat as far back as possible. Honda hit the mark when it comes to a truck for someone who doesn't need a full size pickup and handles extremely well but this vehicle is just not suitable for a tall long legged person over 6 feet in height. If Honda makes the changes then I will definitely get one of these vehicles.
Required 100,000 mile maintenance issues
The reason I just gave it a 4 star is that the engine has a rubber timing belt. If an owner would go beyond the 100,000 mile required and or recommended replacement of the belt and it would fail, then there could be catastrophic engine failure. The water pump ,idler arm ,and I suppose the thermostat and coolant are replaced then as well.

Big truck feel
I have owned GMC 1500 and 2500 for the past 25 years. This has more features and holds the road better. The storage space or cooler in the bed is an awesome feature. Love all the other standard options Honda offers in this vehicle. Where has this been hiding all these years.

2019 Honda Ridgeline RTL
The ride was smooth. The gear shift was smooth. The seat was comfortable.
Comfortable
I sold the Ridgeline after 1 year as it started having electrical problems, although not nearly as many as the 2018 Honda Crv, which we sold after 6 months due to all kinds of electrical problems. I would definitely not recommend buying Honda.

Seats No
"Honda, listen up not everyone is 6 ft. tall". Drivers seat is probably the worst part of truck. Back end of seat sits to deep which raises your knees higher than a normal truck. This creates leg numbness because of poor circulation. If you are of short stature, I'm under 5' 6" tall, it creates issue for your legs when driving. I fiddled with this several times and I did some research and I am not the only one with this problem, also it seems to be only on the trucks the other Honda vehicles I have are fine. I bought certified used 2019. So it's not bad truck, smooth ride, doesn't kill you on bumpy roads but it is loud does not have enough noise suppression insulation around the body. Also I had to take it back to dealer get stereo looked 3x in last 9 months. Mine has the "right lane view on screen" when right turn signal lights are on but sometimes screen goes completely black. So I fiddle with it until screen comes back on. Another issue is the back doors open maybe 30% max and it's hard to get items in back passenger side. There is an after market item you can buy but I have yet to do so. I don't know what Honda engineers were thinking when decided to build back doors like this. I've owned trucks all my life and I bought this one certified used and on a scale of 1/10 I would give it a 7.5 only because of the drivers seat and back doors not opening enough.

Would not purchase another Honda
I love the under bed storage; aside from that, nothing good about it. The ride is fine unless I open a window or the moon roof; sounds like it is going to disintegrate. Stereo sounds fair; no CD player. Highway mileage 18.9; don't drive around town because I can't stand the how bad it feels when I open a window or moon roof.

Good Job Honda
So far my only issue with the truck is the tailgate does not lock and as far as i can tell neither does the trunk lid even though it is keyed.

Thought to down size
Test drove the a 2019 for about thirty minutes and had a back ache. The drivers seat would not adjust back enough, I’m 6’2” 210 lbs. Plenty of up and down room but just could not get comfortable in the seat. I drive a Ram 1500 crew cab on trips I can’t imagine driving the Ridgeline on a trip.
